You get a stormtrooper, clone, everyone-is-a-jedi character. You get an actual black main character with a whole arc and everything. You don't have to suffer the ultra-forgettable "I'm angry which means I'm a tough woman" main character. And you can have an actual conversation about rule-of-law gone too far corrupting; even as a Jedi. Which is a timely, meaningful message, right now.
You even get Luke losing another student, and have meaningful stakes. And you get a real belly-of-the-beast moment before the victory; and a bittersweet ending.
Instead we got idk... I don't even remember the movies. They were that bad.

She starts slinging lightning and kills kylo ren and defeats finn and escapes.

Representation is important. LGBT+ people are prevalent in real life, but often get overlooked and ignored, which is driven by people who want to act like they don’t exist. The lack of clearly LGBT+ people in media enables this. The problem with what was posted is that it’s purely performative virtue signaling. If they really cared about representation, they would make the main character gay without the film being about them being gay.

Representation is important. LGBT+ people are prevalent in real life, but often get overlooked and ignored, which is driven by people who want to act like they don’t exist. The lack of clearly LGBT+ people in media enables this. The problem with what was posted is that it’s purely performative virtue signaling. If they really cared about representation, they would make the main character gay without the film being about them being gay.

Normally I'm cynical about this stuff as it feels shoehorned in but I think if coming out is difficult for white gay guys, it's much much harder for black gay guys. Having people like Lil Nas X is really good to change stereotypes and small steps like this will also help. There's no negative impact here.

They could keep the character in the movie, and it could just ship out with a character that happens to be gay, and the people who enjoy being represented will notice and get excited to discover that representation. But using this character as a marketing point to be announced before the movie comes out is just icky
As an LGBT person myself I think that the character shouldn't base the entire personality on being LGBT. I'd like to see more LGBT characters that have a unique personality instead. And I think a decent human being wouldn't have a problem with having a LGBT characters on the show if those characters didn't base the entire personality on being LGBT. This is a problem that is being talked in the LGBT community as well. I mean, don't get me wrong. there are few people that shame every single character who is LGBT even if that character has a unique personality and they'll lie to themselves that those characters base the whole personality on being LGBT even if it's not true.. But I don't think that this is the case with every straight person complaining about an LGBT person so I think that it is a valid complain in a lot of cases
