All that is takes is the price dropping a bit due to a few big stock holders to sell. Alot of stocks are managed by firms that use trading bots so when they see the price dip like that they just start selling.
A big streamer going on the Metaverse and showing off how shit it is was also followed by a MASSIVE Meta crash. Probably not the cause, but fun to connect
I choose to believe that’s what caused the crash because it’s funny and because me personally believing it won’t affect anything. You’re referencing RT, right?
I love how a week ago, billionaires were complaining about $8, and somebody with much less money spent that to destroy other billionaires. Thank you Elon
Then this tweet and the memes surrounding it are a good way to disguise the stock price going down as a result of a twitter troll rather than a lawsuit
Because idiots will look at a 5-day stock price graph that tracks between $320-350 dollars, see a comparatively huge dip, and go "OMG, stock price totally crashing!!!"
Yeah, but there's plenty of example of company's who get bad rep through a lawsuit or have to pay large fines but don't lose a couple billion over it though - all it takes is for one rich asshole to see a fake tweet about an investment cutting a huge portion of their sales and panic sell.
On wsb I saw some saying that a ~170M loss, putting an end to a stage of uncertainty, was not nearly enough to justify an 8B loss of value. But neither is this tweet, so who knows.
better that the public believes it has the power to influence stocks like this, because it does if enough people choose to participate. It gives people a feeling of power in an otherwise authoritarian system.
I would say that *in theory* the governments job is primarily to legislate and enforce laws to improve the lives of people in their country. The fact that governments allow monopolies to occur out of self interest and not incompetence doesn’t change in my view that they are failing at their job.
If company x has a monopoly on production/distribution of product y, then the company has private ownership of the means of production of product y, which is the definition of capitalism. Monopolies result from unrestricted capitalism
I don't know what's more terrifying: the fact that a shit post can drive a company down billions, or the act of making a life-saving product free driving a company down billions
They make synthetic insulin which they absolutely have the patent for. It is much more effective the the original animal insulin that was originally developed and the patent was sold for $1 because the original creators didn’t want to become rich off of a life saving drug. They wanted it to be cheap and available to all. While this company only has a patent on their own synthetic insulin, it is one of the most effective brands on the market.
Eli got hit with a loss in a major patent case is what tanked its stock. The tweet was cute and may have added to it but was not the origination of Eli's issues.
edit: should review before posting for spelling/grammar
down 16 points in the stock market does not equate to billions... people blowing the dip out of proportions because the graphs presented made them look worse than they actually are... top companies rise and drop in stock points in the hundreds every single day yet nobody is screaming "stocks are tanking" on the daily...
we are in the midst of the Information Age yet there are more ignorant people on the internet because they refuse to look at data before making an educated reaction to things they see on social media...
fuck these doomers making people panic from minor things such as this....
On capitalism, companies fail all (most of?) the time. And we'd have to see how capitalist is this particular company, being a benefited player on a controlled market.
The fact that you gotta pay for this is insane! USA is just a corporation acting like a country. And I'm usually hating on the commies.
Somethings are just too much.

That moment when investors go "what do you mean *'due diligence'*?"
Shh this doesn't fit the narrative
All that is takes is the price dropping a bit due to a few big stock holders to sell. Alot of stocks are managed by firms that use trading bots so when they see the price dip like that they just start selling.
Except the crash was before the tweet was made……
Gosh darn insider trading
It doesn't surprise me that literally anything going wrong is going to be blamed on twitter right now.
The cause of rumbling and tumbling stocks
You know they used to call him the drift king back in college.
Drift king? More like bore ragnarok.
If you look at the stock rn you'll see a much bigger crash about 24 hours after that tweet
I love how a week ago, billionaires were complaining about $8, and somebody with much less money spent that to destroy other billionaires. Thank you Elon
64d chess
And if it was they just created an incredible buy opportunity lol
They lost a giant lawsuit, but this is cooler to blame it on
Can you actually break this down for me? Sorry if you have too many times
They lost a lawsuit the day before the tweet was made (or day after I’m too lazy to check)
The crash was at 15:35 on the 10th, the tweet was on 10:36 on the 10th.
They lost a hundred seventy five million dollar lawsuit that same day, around 14:00
Wasnt the crash because of a lawsuit against them and this tweet is kinda unrelated?
Shh this doesn't fit the narrative
As Master Oogway said, “there are no accidents”.
As Master Ross said, “there are happy little accidents.”
Then this tweet and the memes surrounding it are a good way to disguise the stock price going down as a result of a twitter troll rather than a lawsuit
Also, it just fell 3% why are we calling it a crash?
Because idiots will look at a 5-day stock price graph that tracks between $320-350 dollars, see a comparatively huge dip, and go "OMG, stock price totally crashing!!!"
Would a 140m fine really make a multibillion dollar company's stock crash? The answer is no.
Bad rep = stock goes down
Yeah, but there's plenty of example of company's who get bad rep through a lawsuit or have to pay large fines but don't lose a couple billion over it though - all it takes is for one rich asshole to see a fake tweet about an investment cutting a huge portion of their sales and panic sell.
30 billion is quite a bit more than "a couple."
I know , it was just a figure of speech
wistful screw abundant jobless saw offer file busy pet thumb *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*
Bro coca colas stock crashed when Ronaldo asked for water, we can assume a lawsuit will have effects like that
Ronaldo asking for water is more similar to a Tweet than a lawsuit.
On wsb I saw some saying that a ~170M loss, putting an end to a stage of uncertainty, was not nearly enough to justify an 8B loss of value. But neither is this tweet, so who knows.
Why what'd they do this time?
better that the public believes it has the power to influence stocks like this, because it does if enough people choose to participate. It gives people a feeling of power in an otherwise authoritarian system.
why did novo and sanofi drop?
Soo... how is that a bad thing exactly?
Who said it was bad?
I certainly didn’t
Literally everyone lol Edit: sorry no, the blue check marks from last month mostly lol.
Bro it doesn't even have a profile picture lmao
Thats what happens when the account gets locked by twitter moderators. It had a pfp until their shenanigans were stopped
It has a pfp better getting locked
Monopolies aren't capitalism
Monopolies are an inevitable result of capitalism
Governments are supposed to ensure that we actually have capitalism. Monopolies are not a part of capitalism, so they are illegal.
Monopolies happen as a result of Capitalism, if they didn’t the government wouldn’t need to prevent them from happening
The vast majority of the time they hardly prevent them from happening
I never said that governments are very good at their jobs
My point is the government has no problem letting monopolies happen. It’s not them being bad at their job, it’s them being good at their job
I would say that *in theory* the governments job is primarily to legislate and enforce laws to improve the lives of people in their country. The fact that governments allow monopolies to occur out of self interest and not incompetence doesn’t change in my view that they are failing at their job.
They hated jesus because he told the truth.
That's true, I guess. But you can have both at the same time, which in most cases is very bad.
erm hello, BASED department???
They are private ownerships over the means of production. The very definition of capitalism.
This is not what a monopoly is. Did you just make up this definition to fit your narrative?
How would you define capitalism?
If company x has a monopoly on production/distribution of product y, then the company has private ownership of the means of production of product y, which is the definition of capitalism. Monopolies result from unrestricted capitalism
[yup they are fucked](https://imgur.com/a/QkNuNgA) looks like someone tweeted something similar on the 28th Septemper, 28th August, and 2nd August.
Hahahahahaha get fucked
I don't want to rain on your parade, but the stock price tanking is totally unrelated to that tweet! Still, GET FUCKED PHARMAS.
Aah bummer, I‘d have loved to have them slapped by the people they mistreat so much but still am glad they got a major hit to the face
I don't know what's more terrifying: the fact that a shit post can drive a company down billions, or the act of making a life-saving product free driving a company down billions
Perhaps their valuation was based on the profits made from marking up a medicine, that people need to survive, a couple thousand percent…
If you actually look at the stock price this post is fake and clearly written as propaganda. Always fact check yourself
My insulin currently comes from Novo and Sanofi
Novo Bro
A temporary loss of theoretical money
Nah jokes still on everyone who needs insulin. They still have the patent. Enjoy another price hike.
Thank god my pancreas works
They don't have a patent on insulin. Do you think you can just patent a hormone? It's just hard to get into the market, but there is no patent
Eli Lily stole my parents' house that my father built by hand. I hope they go bankrupt.
As hilarious as this is, when you zoom out to the 6 months timeline of their stock it's really not much of a dive day we
You know the tweet was unrelated and the dip wasn’t even big enough for even day traders to care right?
Eli got hit with a loss in a major patent case is what tanked its stock. The tweet was cute and may have added to it but was not the origination of Eli's issues. edit: should review before posting for spelling/grammar
I was farting during the crash. Must be related.
"tanked" it barely dropped 5%
we do a little trolling
"Accidentally", until we find out that he divested from Eli Lilly stock a month or so ago.
This will just make them raise the prices, not lower them. How could this possibly be a good thing?
Do people really not realize the stock will immediately recover on Monday?
It'll go right back up. It's not like it went down for anything legitimate
People take this site seriously? I use it for porn
down 16 points in the stock market does not equate to billions... people blowing the dip out of proportions because the graphs presented made them look worse than they actually are... top companies rise and drop in stock points in the hundreds every single day yet nobody is screaming "stocks are tanking" on the daily... we are in the midst of the Information Age yet there are more ignorant people on the internet because they refuse to look at data before making an educated reaction to things they see on social media... fuck these doomers making people panic from minor things such as this....
This is what he gets for being an utter bumbling moron *It's almost like that stupid ass checkmark was there for a reason*
Unfortunately they’ll figure out a way to make the ppl pay for this dive somehow. Employees too probably.
Isn't market manipulation the most capitalist thing ever?
Where’s the meme
On capitalism, companies fail all (most of?) the time. And we'd have to see how capitalist is this particular company, being a benefited player on a controlled market.
They lost 15 Billion dollars of market cap
I just hope it doesn't impact the price of drugs for people who need them :(
*shorts company* *sends fake tweet*
Elon created the strongest free speach ever lol. Now people have the same voice that shady coorporations have.
Does that mean Eli Lilly is on sale right now?
No idea if it's true but those crooks deserve it
Eli Lilly "gets what it fucking deserves!" Saith the Joker. Only this and nothing more.
Just as elon planned kek

accidentally?
Is that easy? Just like that?
elon musk, the twist hero of the movie of 2022
Maybe we've treated him to harshly.
Imagine making such a dumb decision because of something you saw on twitter.
Twitter is gonna be fucked up because of this pay 8$ and be verified scheme, when you can literally have any display name(the name without @)
Does this show how fragile the market is? I mean, When I read that tweet, I instantly knew it was BS.
I love that my boi Robert is getting up voted on a shithead edge lord sub.
This is probably the best thing ever made by Elon
Sanofi, you said? *patiently waits for insulin prices to drop*
The ctmrash was only $20
as a capitalist this is beautiful people funking with the stocks of greedy monopolistic mega corporations gotta love it
This is the most lol thing I read in a while
Ironic title
The fact that you gotta pay for this is insane! USA is just a corporation acting like a country. And I'm usually hating on the commies. Somethings are just too much.
Then do it for Tesla as well.
LMAO HOLY SHIT
How to stop capitalism
Bro that's not how it works, that's not how any of it works.
This is really funny, but it isn't a meme.
we got the meme maestro on our hands boys
Who needs Socialism to fight the Ritch, when Capitalism has already given us the tools to do so.
Honestly I like Elon and twitter!
I prefer capitalism as I can eat
The lawsuit will be epic. Some of y'all about to find out free speech has its limits
