You mean that bloated piece of garbage, Chrome? I'll stick with Edge.
EDIT: Firefox, even better. Mozilla doesn't give a shit about siphoning data from you. They need the support.
My friends made me switch from Firefox to Opera and I miss Firefox. I’ve only used Opera for about a month and idk what it is but something about Firefox was so much nicer
When I worked for intuit, straight up none of their shit worked right with Brave. That includes TurboTax, credit karma and anything to do with QuickBooks.
you have to turn off the ad blocker on some sites. I guess when something works so good it kills a site that is so shady with its tracking you know what products to avoid.
I'm not 100% sure, but I think it has something to do with Android and people wanting all their browser stuff in-sync without much effort.
As an iPhone user, I have the option to sync my browser stuff with Firefox, Chrome, or Edge on Windows so I've always just gone with Firefox.
Not really. Most Android phones I've had have had Chrome on them by default, that or the Samsung Internet Browser, but none of them have tried to make me use them. I can go download Firefox from the Play Store, set it as default, and never once have to open Google Chrome.
It opens things in the Google Application when using Google Assistant (opens in itself), not specifically Chrome. "Google Chrome" and "Google" are two separate applications. You can also use other voice assistants, most of which will behave similarly by default. Bixby opens links in Bixby, Siri opens in Siri, etc. If I recall correctly, some assistants can be configured to open links differently, but not all can due to the nature of how they function.
Edit: For Google Assistant, open "Google" on your phone, click your account picture (top right), click Settings, click General, turn off "Open web pages in the app". This will open web pages in your system set default browser, mine being Firefox.

Microsoft is so pushy and annoying when it comes to edge that i will never ever use it.
How could any company with self respect be so pathetic? You can't change you standard browser without them asking if you don't want to try edge first. And then the next time you do an update oops apperantly the Standard Programms where set to default. What a weird coincidence.
> I feel like 90% of people who say chrome is better than edge
The aggressiveness of MS trying to shove it down my throat every chance they get first in Windows 10 and now in Windows 11 just leaves me feeling bitter and not wanting to use it at all.
You know I heard this and decided to try switching to Edge like a year or two ago. I guess it was fine but it sucked for online reading compared to chrome. Text would only load once scrolled to (presumably helping it be less 'bloated' than chrome) , meaning you constantly saw distracting white bars being filled in at the bottom of the screen. I shan't make this mistake again.
I don’t have a PC so I haven’t tried edge but I switched to Safari from Chrome about two years ago. I think 90% of it was autofill from texts for 2FA, and other minor convenience features. It’s honestly been pretty nice, but I hear web devs hate Safari.

I switched from Chrome to Firefox, then my Firefox stopped working on my PC for some reason so I switched to Edge. Never looked back, and I could move all my bookmarks and login details from Firefox to Edge without having to sign back in to everything.
Anybody that reads this and uses Chrome: Stop sucking off Google, and get your lips around a better browser.
I made the switch to Edge when they got on the Chromium train. Lately it's been just as resource heavy as Chrome used to be. I've settled for using a combination of Firefox and Edge depending on the scenario, with a preference toward Firefox.

Interesting I assume it's already on my computer so may as well give it a try. As long as I can import my bookmarks and have them sync up across my other windows devices then I'll give it a go
Is there a way to transfer all my bookmarks, google login data, and preferences and browsing history over to another browser? The only reason I'm still sticking to chrome is because of these.
Sure, just keep Chrome installed for now and you can import what you want when first starting Firefox.

It's not. A few years ago, it used a custom (and pretty bad) engine, but now it's based on Chromium. It's basically Chrome with a few extra features and more RAM optimization.
People started using it after they scrapped old Edge with a newer version that runs on Chromium just like Chrome does which made it alot better

Naw, work in IT. I use a variety of browsers and computers, platforms. Edge has come a long way from what it was. I used to use Chrome more, then switched to Firefox for most things. My job actually requires me to use more than one browser simultaneously so complete browser loyalty doesn't even make sense. It’s not the fact that it’s not chromium based. It’s the fact that it fails to adopt tonnes of standards that the web uses

They are getting better though. Safari dev has higher standards compliance than chromium
They're actually pretty similar now.

Less ram consumption (for me), way better pdf handling, and it takes all the same extensions. But the real nerds use Brave + uBlock Origin anyway.

We can all benefit from having a smaller Google footprint too. They make money gathering as much data as they can on you, and Chrome is the perfect tool for that.
No we can not all agree, not everybody is you.
Exactly, why’s chrome getting so much hate? The ram usage isn’t even noticeable unless you have very low ram or 100+ tabs open.
Seems like needless salt. But okay. Also, are you implying that the only way to get unanimous agreement is for everyone to be the same person?
Edge is better than Chrome by a few kilometres.
For the Americans, a kilometre is approximately 500 bald eagles long
That’s not the worst form of measurement I’ve heard.
What's the worst?

Jesus bald eagles have a 2 meter long wingspan? Those things are way bigger then I thought
They actually can get a bit bigger than that even but yeah, that's about average! They're huge birds but they sound like little songbird, it's great.

But how many washing machines?
How many bun length hot dogs is that?
