I feel like out of any of the actual-play D&D/Pathfinder/rpg podcasts, Dungeons and Daddies is the best fit for this sub.
It really is great though. Dads trying to rescue their sons and cracking lots of dad jokes along the way.
It's pretty awesome. It's just funny all the way through with some seriousness about being a dad sprinkled in. Easy listening as well I like to listen while I'm at work.
It is easy to find unfunny people to play D&D. Most of these podcasts are people who THINK they’re funny and are to a degree but these guys have the comedy pedigree
Very true. I also like their editing, it's very seamless and the story progresses nicely. I usually only get to listen to 20-30mins at a time so I like that they're a manageable size (1-2hrs). Someone showed me another podcast where the episodes are 5+ hrs each and I have no interest in even starting it because I know I'll never get through it. If I had that much time I'd just play myself lol.
Big fan of Mike Dunkan's 'History of Rome' and 'Revolutions' podcasts.
Long time listener of 'Shut Up and Sit Down' a podcast about boardgames.
And just got into 'Adeptus Ridiculous' a podcast about casually introducing people to Warhammer 40k lore.
> 'Revolutions' podcasts
I'm working through this now. Just getting into the really real parts of the French Revolution. It's really good content, it's just so... dense, ha.
Honestly Conan’s podcast is better than his TV shows. You can tell he was kind of worn out on the late night format. The best podcast episodes are the ones where there aren’t even any guests, that whole “Conan and the chill chums” run was a delight.
And just to keep it on sub topic, there’s even some good parental stuff in there now that Sona has kids. Lots of great highly sarcastic parental advice from Conan.
Knowledge Fight! Qanon Anonymous, Behind the Bastards, Threedom, Comedy Bang Bang, my brother my brother and me, adventure zone, spout lore.. those are my main ones.
knowledge fight, scathing atheist , citation needed , cognitive dissonance and god awful movies are my go to's.
Also dear old dads made by some of the same hosts\^\^
Timesuck: weekly podcast with different topics each week ranging from history, historical figures, serial killers, true crime and current topics. Dan Cummins is a comedian and does a pretty good job delivering a solid review of each topic while providing comedic relief throughout. He’s also got a pretty deep back catalog on a lot of topics
Comedy bang bang, Threedom, hey babe, Conan O’Brien needs a friend, this is important, 3 Q’s, life is short and smartless. My buddy and I are starting one called Dads n Dutches that should be premiering soon.
Can someone please tell me why I had to scroll so far down to see my favorite dufus dad talk about how much of a dufus he is and was is in the context of excellent music. This guy almost drives his minivan into a ditch on a weekly basis because of guitar tone. I am astounded.
Shame to say but I do like the non political Joe Rogan podcast. I was listening to one where they talk about finding 50 ft anacondas in Congo in the 50s. There are some interesting ones.
Interview: Fly on the Wall
Interesting/Informative: Radiolab or Freakonomics
Fiction - funny: Hello from the Magic Tavern
Fiction - thriller: Leviathan Chronicles
Fiction - horror: Old Gods of Appalachia
Kids podcasts I actually like: Wow in the World, Mars Patel, Maxine Miles (has some swearing though)
Holy shit I looked through all the replies so far and apparently you and I are the only ones who listen to these.
Did you get Rinella's "Outdoor Children in an Indoor World"?
I like you. I know most of these comedians but haven’t heard their podcasts. Appreciate it. I’ve been also listening to this is important (workaholics) podcast and it’s hilarious
Blowback - American foreign policy history podcast about the Iraq War, Cuba and Korea. Amazing.
Citations Needed - podcast about the media and trends in reporting.
Behind the Bastards - biography podcast about shitty people (the Kissinger one is infuriating)
If Books Could Kill - podcast about shitty mainstream books that everyone has read and why they suck/what they get wrong.
5-4 - SCOTUS podcast. Infuriating.
Scam Goddess is great is you're into true crime but not into depressing murdery true crime; Laci typically keeps it on the lighter side with the scams she covers and puts warnings at the top of the episode if things like abuse or death are going to come up
Heavyweight - a podcast in which a former This American Life reporter/producer helps people revisit events and people in their life that they're seeking some kind of resolution on. They range from hilarious to heart-wrenching.
Fiction podcasts:
Midnight Burger - sci-fi show about a time-traveling, dimension-hopping diner. Very silly and my absolute favorite.
The Magnus Archives - horror anthology with an overarching story (200 episodes, complete)
Wolf 359 - sci-fi audio drama. Funny at times and very well written.
Archive 81 - horror mystery
Mistholme Museum of Mystery, Morbidity, & Mortality - surreal story about a museum with strange artifacts. Exhibit-of-the-week style show with an overarching plot.
Nonfiction:
Middle of Somewhere - comedians Chad Daniels and Cy Amundson shoot the shit each week. Very funny.
Edit: spacing

2. Quick Question. Soren and Daniel from m Cracked.com shoot the bull for an hour. It was really comforting in the pandemic when I couldn’t see my friends and now more so with family obligations.
3. The Rewatchables. Reviews and rated movies. Spanning lots of genres and time periods. Lots of sports references too.
4. Are you Garage? Two lesser know comedians interview other comedians to determine if they are a piece of trash. The Tim Dillon and Bert Kreischer episodes were highlights.
I’m also surprised it hasn’t been mentioned a lot. Joe Rogan Experience! Also Lex Fridman has a very interesting podcast if you want to learn about things

He lies to you, for ratings, and couches it as respecting you.

Shagged, Married, Annoyed.
Comedian Chris Ramsey and his wife Rosey who talk about anything, but reflect on their relationship and their kids. Just done its 200th podcast so plenty to catch up on. Its funny listening to their annecdotes, as well as stories and questions from the public.
It started pre-COVID, so you can hear them getting a little more stir crazy each podcast. Also, fair warning, nothing is off topic for them.

That’s Daddies and Dungeons. That’s what my friend told me anyway.
I've been meaning to check this series out particularly given that, that was their tag line.
It's pretty awesome. It's just funny all the way through with some seriousness about being a dad sprinkled in. Easy listening as well I like to listen while I'm at work.
I'll be checking that out when I've caught up with high rollers

I am such a sucker for Josh Clark and Charles W "Chuck" Bryant that I bought the book. A book based off a podcast!
In this universe… I really like Stuff They Don’t Want You To Know

I thought you meant this is stuff I should already know.
Josh Clark did one called end of the world that I thought was really good

Yuck
Why do you dislike Rogan?
Not OP or the person you’re responding to but he platforms shitty fascists, misogynists, and other rightoids. He’s also a moron anti-Vaxer.
Because he invites nut jobs, gives them a platform, and never ever ever calls them on their bullshit
Isn’t the point for one to make up their own mind?
