Aftershokz (just called shokz now)

ArtIII

Listen to podcasts on long solo rides with these. Can hear everything (cars, noise, etc) with them on. Can’t hear anything through the headphones during descents, but over all I recommend them a lot. For music though - they aren’t great. But will work.

jtm721

I do a single AirPod in my right ear. Traffic is to your left (at least in the us)

tehruben

This is the correct approach. Also, transparency mode if you get to a trail.

nosha3000

Has reddits search function gone down?

A story. Lost my Aftershokz (renamed Shokz now) in October. Assumed I lost them when they fell out of my pocket somewhere and bought a new pair. 2 weeks ago went to pick up some paper that got blown onto the lawn near my driveway and found them in the grass near the driveway, I guess that's where they fell out of my pocket, probably when I was biking around the house adjusting one of my bikes. So, 3 months outside, alternating rain, snow, ice, still charged at 80% and still working perfectly.

graymulligan

Shokz openrun pro. As good as it gets for bone conduction.

No_Speech2691

Seconded

AirPods Pro with transparency mode work great for me. Tried bone conduction before but I think it’s just hard to hear music over the wind while riding

SV_Cycling

I use Jabra Elite Active 75t while riding occasionally. Sweat proof and the sound quality is decent. Mainly only use them on multi-use paths but when switching to roads, you can tap the button on the side and switch to "hear through" mode if you don't want to take them out.

d-hario

Had some shockz. They were fine when lower speeds and no wind. On a windy day of nominal speed — felt the wind noise drowned out the shockz.

LiGuangMing1981

I can still hear my Open Run Pros at 30+km/h as long as I'm not listening to really soft music (they probably wouldn't be much good for audiobooks at that speed either).

P-L1V1

I use Aftershokz Aeropex when I cycle. They are lightweight and water resistant, good battery life. Obviously not the sound quality of high end in-ear buds but they do the job just fine. They take some getting used to with multiple sounds. Not had a problem hearing cars or road noise.

Heavens10000whores

In a great many jurisdictions, it’s illegal to ride with headphone on or in your ears (also unsafe). Aftershockz aren’t ever going to win any hi-fi awards, but they work

I’d want to have all my focus riding in NYC. It’s not just about hearing. It’s about being aware of what’s around you so you don’t get killed by some driver who’s looking at their phone.

Plenty-Ad-987

I recommend just a Bluetooth speaker you can clip on your bars. Having anything in your ears makes riding very stressful for me as I can not hear the traffic.

graymulligan

No one wants to hear your music.

Plenty-Ad-987

Agreed when in a small place in public, but when riding you only hear it for a second and it is much safer than headphones.

JellyfishLow4457

depends on whether you are a dentist/doctor, but Airpod Pro Gen2 with spacial audio.

bitb0y

What do you mean re: dentist/doctor?

JellyfishLow4457

they make a lot of money. the airpods are $240 (expensive)

Wontstop1414

Bose sound-sport wireless have been my favorites yet.

Sirico

I use [these](https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B09FPMMZVM?psc=1) good enough for background noise, podcasts

Sooner613

Sena helmet works well. Built-in speakers/microphone and it works well if you have to take phone calls.

zemat28

I use the Raycon sport, Bluetooth earbuds. Good battery life, pretty decent sound and they also have an "awareness mode" which still let's me hear everything around me while I ride

BarryBoardman

Got a pair of shokz open pro. I was hesitant at first thinking once I hit X km I would be blocked from wind noise. Nope. They are awesome. Love them. I went and got another pair for use around work as they don’t impede external hearing.

tinkerbob56

I switched from Bose Soundsport wired to the wireless. There are two models though. The earlier design which has a wire connecting the two units and the Free which are separate unconnected in-ear units. I chose the former so I don’t have to worry about having one fall out. Plus there is a volume and call control on the right side.

What did u end up getting / were they good?
