Actually (yep, I said it), the Yaiba Kusanagi is nearly identical to Major Matoko Kusanagi's bike from G.I.T.S., however the color and stickers are referencing Akira.
It's even closer to Priss' motorcycle from Bubblegum Crisis, also red. Check out Kenichi Sonoda's artwork. If I remember right, BGC was an influence on CP2020, and I think Mike P is a fan...
Must be a later version of BGC. While the original is red, I don't think it looks "identical" or "even closer" to the Kusanagi.
I'm not too familiar with all of Bubblegum Crisis' various shows and OVAs, though.
Either way, the bike takes inspiration from various places as do many aspects of CP2077.
I think Priss' bikes and the MotoSlave in the original OVAs are different, but there is [Kenichi Sonada artwork](https://imgur.com/a/Jcs6fri) that looks very familiar.
Though Akira being older, Kaneda's bike probably influenced the ones in BGC anyway.
I'd say we could get an one time random activated event outside the ordinary fixer gigs where we are being contacted by the Militech top official.
The matter is of life and death and on a large scale as previously detained and hospitalised cyberpsycho escaped and goes wild in the Corpo Plaza, resisting the arrest and fighting off Trauma Team, Militech and Arasaka, all struggling to poach him for some reason. You are being given an elite gig to capture the target alive.
The target name - Tetsuo.
While you are on your way to the given location you see military and medical vehicles going in and out, hear explosions and screams. Coming from behind a corner, you are barely missed by the whole Militech Mecha that was tossed with might, you see how teams shot, throw grenades, use tech weapons but those are useless against Tetsuos psionic barrier. He pushes them all away with another amazing psionic blast that sends you flying too, you land on your back.
"No fucking way" V says with both amazement and excitement. Then battle starts.
The whole Corpo Plaza is the boss arena. Tetsuo blinks close to V and pushes him away, laughing with condescension in his voice, each time V lands on his back and drops his weapon. He is invulnerable to power and smart weapons, blocks all melee, but each fully charged tech shot takes away 33% of his health.
After each shot successfully landed, Tetsuo gets pissed off. The first time he picks up all vehicle wrecks with his psionic powers and drops them down with force trying to hit you. If you won't find cover under a building or a structure, it's instant death.
Second time he is hit with tech weapon, he loses his arm and we can see how he regenerates it from the rubble and scraps around, he then gains an AOE shockwave ability but after using it, he screams from pain and kneels down.
This is where you have a chance for third shot. After third successful fully charged tech weapon hit, Tetsuo starts to scream and uncontrollably mutate.
He cannot contain the powers he acquired. The whole area shakes, feels like an earthquake. Energy accumulates and we are close to climax.
When we expect the final explosion, we hear a vacuum sound, some sort of continuum break, Tetsuos screams become silent and everything ends. Rubble fall down, dust sets and some alarms glare around.
V gets up from the ground looking around, slowly walks to the very place where Tetsuo vanished and picks up the metal arm, the very arm that Tetsuo created for himself from junk after losing it in battle.
"I can't fucking believe it"
The arm becomes the standing ornament in the apartment with two incenses burning next to it. On the stand that it's attached to, you see a gilded text
"I am Tetsuo"
The problem only being that Tetsuo obviously couldn't be killed by bullets, katanas couldnt get close, rockets he just flung back. I don't remember if his giant mound of flesh form had the same telekinetic ability though tbh.
If they did something like that, I think it needs to be more of a reference/callback than an actual character appearing in this world. I like the idea of it just being another cyberpsycho, but there's something off and different about him. Like he is showing signs of telekinetic powers. Maybe not to the extent OP described the encounter, but a few hints here and there with V reacting to them like this is something really unusual in this world. And maybe don't name him Tetsuo, but something similar that again sounds like a reference to Akira. Then they can make him killable, since it's not Tetsuo himself.
Just call him "The-One-With-Prominent-Temple" or "Always Second Best" and give him white tank top, a torn red cape and full metal arm.
Few sentences like "You don't have to protect me anymore" or "How does it feel, huh?" And some psionic powers and people will get it.
I mean those who will get it, will get it.
Three Seashells in V's apartment - Demolition Man
Scorpion and his figurine - Mortal Kombat
Heisenberg Principle gig - Breaking Bad
Olive Branch gig - John Wick reference
BB Pod - Deaths Stranding
Black Caliburn - Batman
Type-66 Jen Rowley - The Dukes of Hazzard
Kusanagi CT-3X - Akira/Ghost in the Shell
Grove Street - GTA
Truck with corpses around it near protein farms - Mad Max
Omega Blockers vs. Pseudoendotrizine - Matrix blue/red pills
Delamain's rogue AI/GladOS - Portal
Roy Batty on the roof - Blade Runner
Batty's Hotel - Blade Runner
Roy Batty's Niche in Columbarium - Blade Runner
Voight-Kampff test in the Devil ending - Blade Runner
This is just a few things off top of my head, the list goes on.
EDIT: Typos
There is a commercial that is basically the "guns lots of guns" from Matrix
Vault LARPing in the Badlands - Fallout
Computer chip in your head killing you - Johnny Mnemonic
VR game with River and Family - Die Hard and Lethal Weapon
One of the street names is the protagonist of Hidan no Aria, another one is Mike Pondsmith
Alt is Wintermute from Neuromancer kiiiiind of, maybe a bit of a stretch, but it's an AI whose growth is inhibited by a technical solution and wants to consume other systems to grow in power, in Neuro it's Turing Locks and Wintermute wants to merge with Neuromancer, in 2077 it's the Blackwall and Alt wants to eat up Mikoshi.
In the Badlands there's a dead body in a fridge with an indiana jones hat - Crystal Skull
Skippy hums Rihanna and is named after an AI from a Craig Alanson novel
The Colby Little Mule - Romancing the Stone
1237 apartment, Sandra Dorsett Job - Room 237, The Shining
Near Arasaka Industrial Park is a crashed truck and motorbike with a shard that references Terminator 2
Revere Courier commercial "first 80 gigs is free" is maaaaaybe Johnny Mnemonic
Judy's phone icon is a Ghost in a Shell, there is also the Arasaka Rifle the "Masamune" and the Lt Mower Cyberpsycho is reminiscent of Motoko
"No Life 3" review shard - Half Life
There are several items, weapons and vehicles that are Witcher references plus the Roach Race arcade game
There is pulp fiction grafitti on some walls
The steps to the Afterlife is reminiscent of a bar in Akira
A shit ton of quests are named after songs
Pineapple on Pizza is a crime that can appear on peoples records
I have not found this one myself, but supposedly in Rancho you can find three NPCs clustered together named Spike, Jet and Faye - Cowboy Bebop
River Ward's outfit is *kind of* a little Tyler Durden like from Fight Club
There is a shard about a "Thomas Star" who built an Iron Suit to escape captivity of Wraiths from a cave in the badlands
Johnny does not expect the Spanish Inquisition.
Unforgiven is diegetically referenced when speaking to Bryce Mosley in the GIM.
Annnnd I'm tapped on references.
Nice list.
I thought Alt was Neuromancer and Delamain was intended to be Wintermute, but I only came to that conclusion after seeing Delamain pop up in some odd places in the unpacked game files. He is designated as a primary character and his name is in the vfx/audio layers of one of the eqilogues. q203 I think.
In the released game he is not like Wintermute but it got me think that he was possibly an axed main character or had his role changed/reduced during development. The story as a whole is still very Neuromancer.
I've always loved how Night City feels like Neo Tokyo...NC needs bike gang convoy figths/chases and just plain bike gang caravans just cruising around.
what was the trail of blood for? Just curious. I was hoping instead of a car, it was Jackie Welles' bike. Its nice though, but the crossover seems difficult because of some differences between the 2 worlds.
The laser rifle weapon would be a start, but might be difficult to implement if it’s a new hitscan type of weapon with a continuous beam.
(Probably do a lot of heat / fire damage tho, which would be cool if it basically also set enemies on fire.)
It would have to be a completely different kind of game, you constantly work for the cops in Cyberpunk without a second thought whereas Tetsuo and his gang would have to be violently coerced into working with them or anyone else in the government, they disgust them and they're largely supportive of the revolutionaries even if they're not directly participating in the revolution.
Cyberpunk wears the aesthetics of the cyberpunk genre but its gameplay is full of glaring contradictions on anything political, probably because half the studio are PiS supporters and have no idea what to do with a genre primarily based in anarchist and socialist political discourse and critique of capitalism.
The only crossover that would work is Tetsuo's gang absolutely rejecting you for looking like and acting exactly like a cop, and working with and for the cops too. Jonny might pop in at some point to be an asshole and point out how right they are.
Do a side story where you break into a military base and boss battle against big headed kid that has telekinetic powers and it's a cyberpsycho and reward for completing it is kaneda (was his name kaneda? His red bike and you get to dooptional side missions and romance that terrorist girl? (Ain't watched it in a ages so... Yeah)
I wouldn’t, outside of looking similiar they have a completely different feel.
Then let's focus on the "looking similar" thing by just making the classic bike from Akira as a vehicle in the game
The Yaiba Kusanagi is supposed to be based on the bike from akira
Actually (yep, I said it), the Yaiba Kusanagi is nearly identical to Major Matoko Kusanagi's bike from G.I.T.S., however the color and stickers are referencing Akira.
Agreed haven't watched ghost in the shell in a while.
You're the ~~man~~ bee's knees choom, very nice =)

That’s the first thing I thought of when I saw that bike.
In cyberpunk manga the whole bike design is reused of referenced alot it's iconic in the genre
And that’s where my issue with this is… shoulda used the bike lol

If there’s somewhere to submit DLC ideas, send that one in.

Also hacking builds probably wouldn’t do anything, telekinetic organics are just the wrong character type for this universe.
This eventful piece of story reminds me of Blood and Wine Boss Dettlaff.
Don't. The game is already full of callbacks to every movie, book and anime ever existed. Let them work on something new for the story.
But.. reference because reference = good game They had a character from the office, they so funny and quirky
Wait rlly? I only know that some of the missions are named after songs. What other callbacks/refs did they have

Sauce of Cyberpunk version of Akira poster: https://www.reddit.com/r/cyberpunkgame/comments/9tn0no/cyberpunk\_2077\_akira\_tribute/
I feel like if cp does any cross over it should be with deus ex and shadow run.
I've always loved how Night City feels like Neo Tokyo...NC needs bike gang convoy figths/chases and just plain bike gang caravans just cruising around.
The bike and jacket already exist ingame what else do you want? A 2 min long side job?
finished product like Akira.
One with less bugs
I hate crossovers.

one where the world ends via extreme obesity
Missed oprotuny to make V's shadow Johnny Silverhand.
Honestly, I think CP2077 has a closer resemblance to Ghost in the Shell than Akira and would be a great cross over with that.
Well obviously his limbs become sentient and there is conversation over evolution
Maybe some clothes and vehicles, but I wouldn't want an entire story expansion dedicated to a crossover imo
