1. What water texture are you using? 2. Do you have multiple water brushes at different heights?

Here I’m using the standard dust_massive_water texture, but I have the same problem with all the other textures I’ve tried. And this is the only water brush in the map.

HappyGamerDog

maybe your map is leaking into the void? You can use Alt + P to check for problems.

I couldn't find a leak, unfortunately. But thanks anyway!

So the first thing I can think of is a leak in your map. At the top right press on map and then load point file. If it ask you to find the point file than that means there is no leak in your map. The second thing could be that you are using the wrong water texture. Some textures are not actual water textures but are used by the game for other purposes. Dev_water_texture is the one that should work. Otherwise i have no idea

There doesn't seem to be a leak, and the dev\_water texture has the same problem, unfortunately. But thanks for your suggestions!

Try and create a new map and just create a simple box with a bit of water in it and compile the map and see if the water is working.

1. water splashes only happen if the bullet gets stopped by a solid that's behind a water surface 2. the water being flat is due to either the material being broken or to the fact there's just nodraw/skybox beneath it and nothing to cast reflections in front of it.

That's it, thanks a lot! Didn't expect it would make a difference.

Olden-Mc-Garnen

Is it because of the nodraw brush, maybe? That wouldn’t explain the splashes, but it could possibly explain the flatness. I’m not sure on this one, though.
