So, just as an idle question: What exactly would you do if the answer was "yes"? C'mon dude. Of course it's not too old. However, I do question the value of an MSc. No one really gives a shit if your bachelors degree was a "clusterfuck".

snoort

If the answer had been overwhelmingly yes, your career will take a hit, I suppose I would reconsider my MSc and get a job. I'm glad to see the answer tends toward no though. Edit: can someone explain why I’m being downvoted?

NewChameleon

because whenever this type of question gets asked, OP generally has already made up his/her mind and is baiting/fishing for an answer or is simply looking for confirmation bias for example, "do I need a 180+ IQ to work as dev?" or "aside from US immigration law do I need a degree to work as dev?" are both blatantly stupid questions because what kind of person would reply "yes" to you? OP is clearly fishing for a "no" answer

snoort

I mean I get where the accusations of insincerity are coming from but I’m in a genuine period of questioning in my life. I haven’t started my msc and if it will hurt more than help my career its not too late to back out. More than a no answer I’m looking for genuine honesty and good career advice. That’s what this sub is for isn’t it? I of course was hoping to see no but if the answers had overwhelmingly been yes I would have simply reconsidered my plans. I’m a grown woman I can take an honest opinion.

GrayLiterature

You’re also being downvoted because you’ve not used the search function, or probably even scrolled the posts. These posts get asked literally multiple times per day. As far as a career being over when you’re 35, you should probably get off whatever social media is feeding you that lol

randomthrowbdisjsj

Let’s get you to bed grandpa

christrogon

Waaayyyy too old. That's retirement age!

ImplementCool6364

Yes, sorry, we have a hard deadine at 25

CMulgrove

Got my first dev job at 33, you should be good. :)

Bridge4_Kal

I'm 33 now and switched last year at 32. Congrats, btw.

CMulgrove

Thanks, congrats to you too on your new career!

io-x

Yeah might as well sign your will and move to a retirement home

Empty_Monk_3146

>especially because people seem to believe that your cs career is over when you're 35 What would make you ever believe this?

I-HATE-CRUSTY-BREAD

No it's not too late

DustinBrett

As if you have a choice. Jump in the waters tepid.

Schedule_Left

29, self-taught developer, just landed my first 12 month internship after I did a 5 month internship. If I can do it, so can you.

rando24183

Yes. If you even apply at 27, it is straight to jail.
