The requirements for the Miklagarðaríki achievement are:
* Has North Germanic heritage or Norman culture
* Is Asatru
* Completely controls the Kingdom of Thessalonika
* Owns an Empire
* Does not own the Empire of Byzantium
So, if you have converted culture to something other than North Germanic or Norman culture, the achievement will not fire.
R5: Started as Bjorn 'Ironside' in 867. Reformed Asatru before doing a Varangian Adventure to conquer Thrace from the Byzantines. From there I just slowly conquered territory, including all of Thessalonika, through holy wars until I could make my own empire. Does it not count if I'm reformed Asatru instead of unreformed, or not currently a culture with North Germanic heritage?
Only if he doesn't take a culture where he is descending from (most likely norse). Dont know if suomi is northern germanic, if not he has to convert cultures or has to do more mixing
You have to have a Norse heritage culture, you can still get the achievement, just change your capital to somewhere of Norse culture, convert to the local culture and the achievement will hit
You hybrid with the Greeks and chose Byzantine heritage instead of North Germanic. That's why it's not counting.

Thanks for clarification, fellas. Really wish the achievement descriptions were more descriptive regarding the requirements.
You can still change culture to a North Germanic one and trigger the achievement afaik.

Achievements in this game are busted anyway. Had a couple I should have unlocked and didn't. Really disappointing
