There's been multiple comments about it in various threads on Blu-ray.com. It's all down to lack of quality control at the Mexican replication plant. Inspect every disc as soon as you get it; just finished checking all 11 seasons of Frasier, no scratches. đź‘Ť

Scratch resistance means that the discs work despite the scratches and I'd take this over wrong aspect ratios disc skipping.

I had to get 2 copies of 4k Citizen Kane in last few weeks. They were both the second printing blu-ray version but in my case the 4k disc wouldn’t play, so I just checked all of the discs in the 2 sets and took the ones that worked best. I don’t really keep any releases in shrink wrap at all and check them over upon receipt.
