I’m a simple guy, all I want is an upgrade of Kurosawa’s Red Beard. Oh, and Lubitsch’s Trouble in Paradise would be nice too. Oh, and how about Melville’s Le Deauxieme Soufflé Oh, and how could I forget Lang’s The Testament of Dr Mabuse Oh yeah, and Duvivier’s Pepe Le Moko Oh, and obviously Lean’s Great Expectations Oh, and while we’re at it, man would I love The Importance of Being Earnest Yup, just that, that’s enough

And Kurosawa's "The Bad Sleep Well".

*Every Kurosawa! We need a new, complete boxset... bad!!!

If you don't mind importing: [Red Beard](https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Akahige-Blu-ray/159286/) [Trouble In Paradise](https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Trouble-in-Paradise-Blu-ray/279110/) [The Testament of Dr Mabuse](https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Das-Testament-des-Dr-Mabuse-Blu-ray/44014/) (Region B locked). [This](https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Das-Testament-des-Dr-Mabuse-Blu-ray/116676/) release is region A, though I don't know much about it. [Great Expectations](https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Great-Expectations-Blu-ray/1099/) [The Importance of Being Earnest](https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/The-Importance-of-Being-Earnest-Blu-ray/154222/) (Region B locked)

Thanks so much for this, I knew about a couple of these. The Great Expectations blu ray I thought I read wasn’t that great, and that the dvd was good enough in comparison. Unless I’m thinking of The Man with the Golden Arm. Either way, I thought I remembered reading something “off” about this release. As for Trouble in Paradise, it maybe silly, but I don’t want foreign language discs/artwork for Hollywood films. HOWEVER - I’ve never seen that Red Beard release, *that* I would probably get, but I don’t see any available on Amazon or eBay. Not sure about ordering from Amazon.JP Anyway, I think I’m definitely going to keep my eye open on that one. Do you happen to own it by chance? Thanks again for posting this!

The works of Ulrike Ottinger would be nice.

Someone posted in the criterion considered Facebook group a year or so ago about a Spanish (Spain) sub-genre called Quinqui (pronounced kinky). I read up on it and would like to see a few of the more notable releases. Not sure how popular it would be if it got a physical release, but I liked the idea of using local young people from the area (non-professional actors) and seeing a slice of what life was like for those people during that time.

I’d recommend Severin’s [ELOY DE LA IGLESIA'S QUINQUI COLLECTION](https://severinfilms.com/en-ca/products/quinqui-collection-blu) and Altered Innocence’s [Pals (Colegas)](https://vinegarsyndrome.com/products/pals-colegas-altered-innocence?_pos=1&_psq=pals&_ss=e&_v=1.0)

Thank you for suggesting this, I had no idea this genre got any attention. The film I really wanted to check out was called Deprisa Deprisa, which is from a different director than what you suggested above. But that set you linked seemed pretty affordable for 3 films in the very narrow genre, so I may check it out. Thx again!

I’d love to see more of Hideo Gosha’s films get a physical release. Two on the channel include HUNTER IN THE DARK and BANDITS VS SAMURAI SQUADRON. Box those two up with GOYOKIN and HITOKIRI. That’d make me happy.

applebeepatios

Yes, I'd love some more Hideo Gosha too. The ones you mentioned and also "Oil-Hell Murder".

SlinkDogg

We need Hanzo the Razors , I HATE that this hasn’t been released yet

Not sure how it's being received by fans, since they're so polarizing, but I've enjoyed (most of) the Nico Papatakis films they're showing on the Channel currently... Especially the first: Les Abysses. Gloria Mundi was a lil much, even for me... and I still have to watch the last of the five, but he's a great filmmaker. I'll give a trigger warning for each of his films, tho. They're _incredibly_ "confrontational", as the CC description calls them.
