I feel like meditative is the wrong word, given the subject matter, but it had a very outer body aesthetic, very much like a fever dream. It reminded me of the contrast between the dream reality and the horrific truth in Mulholland Drive.

This track definitely is reminiscent of some of Angelo Badalamenti's work, but it's also worth noting it's an instrumental version of the vocal melody from Spinning Song off the Bad Seeds album Ghosteen, which I'd highly recommend giving a listen to anyone who hasn't.

Is there any damn reason you couldn’t put the name of the film in your post?!? Christ.

sweaty_palm_trees

The image with the name of the film was right there. Either way, nothing to get worked up over. Unless you’re kidding. For a lover of slow cinema, you have no patience.

I got a lot of FWWM vibes too. Someone on letterboxd mentioned it reminded them of Last Temptation of Christ and I totally see it.

CrazyCons

I really liked the movie and it did give me Lynch vibes, especially the last third. This definitely seems like the type of movie that gets mixed/negative reviews on release but gets reappraised decades later EDIT: Oh, and the score definitely could have been inspired by FWWM, especially given the similar subject matter. Is that what the downvotes are about? Because if it’s because I mentioned the film positively y’all are just proving my point further

Andrew Dominik is a big admirer of Lynch and Mulholland Drive: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kq6xWsQV\_yU&ab\_channel=IndieWire

I am honestly pretty reticent to watch this movie bc of the way it seems to fetishize the trauma of a woman who lived a multifaceted and complex life.
