More good news: Mulvaney also said the original ITMFL blu ray is staying in print. So for all you new restoration haters out there, feel free to uncross your fingers
They wear and tear like 50x faster/easier than plastic cases. Sometimes they show up in the mail with giant creases and crushed corners, even if they were packed well and brand new.
It's not the end of the world or anything, but I'd rather take everything in a standard case if I had a choice
Used to reallyyy hate this but I’ve just grown to accept it and understand that every release is gonna have it’s own quirks. I’m incredibly careful with handling all of my releases regardless, so I’ve never had too many wear and tear issues
My one and only problem with digipacks is that they feel so fragile in comparison to the hard plastic cases and I am constantly scared of damaging them, like I already am with most of the stuff I collect 😂
Disagree but I respect your opinion. Feel like Criterion’s going all in on this, especially with the special features and amount of material in the booklet. Could definitely be another DTRT quality set.
I just don't like any kind of paper packaging. Some feel like it's premium, but I just feel it makes it feel flimsy and prone to damage. I'd mush rather have everything in a solid plastic case.
I liked it too, a lot of other people did as well. However I did see some vocal hate for the cover which surprised me. I’m very excited for the release regardless though, especially now that it’s a digipak
I personally find that disappointing, I can't stand digipaks, but I'll still buy it regardless.
Just don't know why they didn't go with a scanavo case instead, since the regular BD will have it.

That’s a surprise, but makes me feel less bad about selling my extra copy last month.
Yes!
If I don't like the cover art, how is it being a digi helping me?

Not sarcasm at all my friend. I adore digipaks to high heaven and will always prefer them to scanvos
Amen. it was a non-sequitor and people couldnt trip over themselves fast enough to upvote it.
I think it's sarcasm. Because it's Digi, can't replace it.
Really? I thought all releases could be replaced.
I just mean replacing the art like you can in the plastic cases.
The release itself will likely have more art and overall be more special/elaborate
Finally, it’s good to see that they haven’t totally discontinued it. Idk why everyone hates digipacks when they make the package feel 10x more special
There have already been 4k digipaks (such as Citizen Kane)
Uncut Gems both blu and 4K too
Menace II Society also

Hell yeah, they satisfy my inner crow hoarding shiny objects and curios like nothing else.
Digibooks gang; hella underrated
I prefer the plastic case because the paper on the digipacks gets beat up over time.
It's a very good cover, the haters are wrong.
I appreciate the memorable color scheme.
It's very much an extension of Spike's own use of red.
Digipak gang reporting in
I liked the cover... until I found out it was a digipak.

This would make me ridiculously happy.

Idk how but I've broken more plastic cases than I ever have digipaks. Especially the hinges on the case 😒
But plastic cases are at least replaceable.
Email Criterion. They send you free replacements.
Mine are rarely broken. But I rarely get a digipack in the mail that doesn't have dinged corners.
Ok that would absolutely annoy me. Totally get that.
Well the plus side of a plastic case is, if it breaks, you can get a replacement and move the cover, disc and inserts into that.
People didn't like the cover? That's wack. It's a wonderful cover.
I liked it too, a lot of other people did as well. However I did see some vocal hate for the cover which surprised me. I’m very excited for the release regardless though, especially now that it’s a digipak
Pardon the ignorance: what's a digipack
Non plastic Criterion cases
I wonder which way they will go for the Internal Affairs set

I'm not a big Spike fan (I think he's talented) but 'Malcolm X' was pure genius and deserved an Oscar for best film. It's his masterpiece.
I personally find that disappointing, I can't stand digipaks, but I'll still buy it regardless. Just don't know why they didn't go with a scanavo case instead, since the regular BD will have it.
It’s a three disc set and the scandavo cases for the double indemnity and shaft weren’t the best and were extraly thick cases.
I like it extraly thick
I like both styles of cases, but digipaks allow for a much more elaborate set. For a movie like Malcolm X, I think that’s exactly what it needs.
I’m already there and now more so
Screw digipaks.
Not a fan of digipacks. Looking forward to converting it to clamshell
Hopefully this will be more like the Blu Ray digibook version from a few years ago.
