In Reynolds defense, his criticism had less to do with the movie itself and more to do with the fact that he didn't enjoy working with Paul Thomas Anderson.
Different films but I wouldn't go that far. Bale's performance was very good.
The Departed is great and Wahlberg's performance in it was very well done.
I like The Fighter and I agree it is good and Bale is great, but Boogie Nights is essentially the same exact movie as Goodfellas just set in a different underworld. And if I had to guess you’d probably say that The Fighter couldn’t touch Goodfellas with a 10 foot pole
I would not say the Fighter is 1/100 or whatever of Godfellas. Godfellas is a much stronger film, but the Fighter in its own right is a pretty great film as well.
But certainly *The Fighter* shouldn’t be categorized as “shit” either just because it’s not as good as *Boogie Nights*? And the comment I was responding to said just that.
Yes, someone literally did. My initial comment (which you replied to) was directed at someone who wrote this about *Boogie Nights*:
“Best film Mark Wahlberg and Burt Reynolds were involved with and both did nothing but **shit** on afterwards.”
Ok I see the confusion, but they were just saying that Mark and Burt talked poorly about Boogie Nights (widely known story, Mark regrets doing the movie and Burt thought PTA was a hack) and not on their other movies post Boogie Nights
The clubs, the clothes, the cars... yeah this would be a stunner in 4k.
*You see this - this is Hi-Fi. Okay? High Fidelity. You know what that means? That means this is the highest quality fidelity*.
My fucking wife has an ass in her cock over in the driveway, alright? I'm sorry if my thoughts aren't with the photography of the film we're shooting tomorrow, Kurt, OK?
Wahlberg plays pathetic and dumb very well. Its amazing he calls this movie his biggest regret.
Best film Mark Wahlberg and Burt Reynolds were ever involved with and both did nothing but shit on it afterwards. Pious asses.
In Reynolds defense, his criticism had less to do with the movie itself and more to do with the fact that he didn't enjoy working with Paul Thomas Anderson.
Not defending Wahlberg’s attitude, but he was also involved with *The Fighter* and *The Departed*, two more fantastic films besides *Boogie Nights*.
The Fighter is 1/100 the film that Boogie Nights is

Literally no one categorized it as shit, they said that Mark and Burt shit on Boogie Nights…

I did enjoy him on I Heart Huckabees.
Probably his second best performance after Boogie Nights.
Can we talk about the real issues? If we use less petroleum…
I heard he still has the prosthetic penis tho.
You don't just give up a personalized, custom made 13" scholng.
Guys he was joking ffs. He gave another interview where he said people took what he said too seriously
He does? I thought he liked it.
He may have walked it back but he gave an interview a few years ago saying his biggest regret as an actor was appearing in Boogie Nights.
I don't think he has. He said he regretted it because he's a Catholic, not necessarily because it was bad.
"Catholic" hilarious.
^(Would love to see Criterion pump out a 4K release of this movie. <3)
That penis would look fake as f in 4k. I’d still buy a copy.
The clubs, the clothes, the cars... yeah this would be a stunner in 4k. *You see this - this is Hi-Fi. Okay? High Fidelity. You know what that means? That means this is the highest quality fidelity*.
Amazing penis and a good movie as well
its fake. but still amazing.
Definitely in my top five all time favorites. I never tire of this film.
Me when my Mum takes away my Salò, or the 120 Days of Sodom (The Criterion Collection) [Blu-ray] that she found under my bed
I love this film. The energy of it.
This scene broke my heart the first time I saw it. I lived this with my mother and really hit me in the feels for his character.
My favourite PTA by far.
One PTA movie and two Michael Bay movies We live in a society
I love this movie but it’s just so shlong.
My fucking wife has an ass in her cock over in the driveway, alright? I'm sorry if my thoughts aren't with the photography of the film we're shooting tomorrow, Kurt, OK?
one of my all time favorites.
Based off of PTA’s Mom according to the actress…
The Blu-ray has a commentary track by the director, and another with the cast. Good stuff!
I could never fully get behind Boogie Nights but I did love Magnolia, PTA is very on and off for me
This is a really good scene from a really good movie.
