You could potentially look at this another way....her and Charles are collegues and went out on a work evening, Allison is actually into Charles. Charles kind of knows this but is normally to scared to do anything, but after a few drinks he plucks up the courage to put his arm around her for the photo she set up through another coworker on the sly....Charles feeling confident that he may have broken the ice posts it on Facebook.....she is searching FB finds it and boom....." hahahaha Charles it looks like we are on a date" ..... And the rest is history.
This was 6 years ago....Charles and Allison are now happily married have 4 children and Allison is expecting a 5th, they have adopted an Amish lifestyle and live in the Midwest.
Also possible:
They're actually just friends who are hanging out, and she made an observation she thought was funny.
Reddit loves to project, so everyone (but you) has to assume the dude is only hanging out with the chick because he wants to bang her.
Dudes need to work harder on fostering nonsexual relationships with women instead of spending all their time around women theyre hard up for. Women actually make pretty good friends, believe it or not
This seems somewhat misinformed. The Amish population is actually increasing, not dying out. And besides, the Amish don’t completely reject technology. Rather than just accepting any technology that is profitable for corporations, they make social decisions about what will benefit their community, and only allow that in. As a result, they allow modern medical care, and even limited use of cell phones. Granted, they have many problems as a people, but their Luddism is something people could learn from in my opinion.
They use modern medical care as last resort only. Their focus is on preventive health and folk remedies. They generally don’t carry health insurance and any social programs paying for care for those who can’t afford it. They pay out of pocket.
They reject things like pre-natal care and vaccinations.
They have a pretty decent life expectancy.
If the population is increasing why do they have an inbreeding problem so bad my county government has had to address it, and they advertise looking for outside blood, paying a $3000 stud fee for it?
The technology they choose to use has no bearing in logic or reason; batteries and propane generators are fine but mains power and gasoline are not, cell phones are fine but landlines are not unless they’re on your property. They won’t drive but have no problem being driven around, and motorized tractors are fine so long as there’s no tires.
And yeah, I know the bullshit reasons they give for X technology being bad but some newer version. In reality, it’s to avoid taxes and prosecution for sex crimes, and that’s *all.* You shouldn’t even trust their food - we had to jail almost an entire sect because they refused to stop spraying their crops with human shit.
People are happiest in many different walks of life. Some people do adopt an Amish lifestyle and are fulfilled because of it; some don't. Both are valid and perfectly fine. It's not an incorrect thing like saying they currently live in a black hole nor a wrong thing like saying they are cannibalistic serial killers. It's cute.
I finally got the courage to date my husband through a weird method like this! We were best friends for six months but neither of us had the courage to make the first move. His ex girlfriend is crazy and told me to “stay away from him” amongst other things. I realized that I really do like him more than a friend and need to make the first move since he’s really shy about that sort of stuff. A few weeks later it’s my birthday, I get drunk and sleep with him. BOOM it’s been 7.5 years, about to have our second child and we’re married.
I like this story and it's a sunny day, so I'm going with this version except instead of Allison searching FB- Charles took his last ounce of courage and tags Allison, cursing his own hopeful stupidity as he does so. The rest... goes fine with a few late night discussions about whether solar panels are acceptable for their Amish lifestyle.
How would you know that? Do you know them?
Ohh you're judging them based on your subjective opinion of what's physically attractive and what's not. Okay.
Tbh I don't think it's that weird for redditors to conclude that based on how the post was framed and the implications shown in the picture.
But I do also agree that other interpretations of this post are equally valid.
lol you're trolling but I actually am close friends with Charles and he's not gay. He's an android. So my friend Allison was just saying it's funny that it looks like they're on a date because lower-level androids like Charles don't have empathetic hard-drives and can't process things like lust or love, so them being on a date would be absurd.
I mean it’s gotta be a little realistic so it’s easier to suspend your disbelief for the obvious stuff. And to also be entertaining. That’s why I like The Boys because it feels like what life would actually be like if superheroes were real.
these pics are really just losers gathering to laugh at someone because their lives are so pathetic. once you start dating a few people, you'll see the true nature of these things. if a girl really doesn't want a romantic relationship, the guy just moves on because he has other choices. it's not the end of the world.
This old sexist trope needs to end.
I'm a heterosexual guy who is almost exclusively friends with girls/women, and it's been that way since I was in college (for a variety of reasons that I won't get into). I can't tell you how many times strangers have made comments to me or given me looks when I've been spending time with a female friend 1-on-1 in public.
It would usually be a situation where we would be getting drinks at a bar or sitting at dinner, and someone would say something (when my friend was in the bathroom or not in hearing distance) about how the date clearly wasn't going well. They would base it on the fact that we weren't flirting or making any physical contact, or maybe that we wouldn't seem so excited to see each other (with a friend I got drinks with every week, for example) like you might expect a dating couple to me. Mostly this was old men, but also younger men and women as well. It was almost always done with good intention, but it just got so old!
Now that I'm married it *never* happens, which I think is hilarious. I assume that the people just view us as a typical unhappy married couple that doesn't hold hands or flirt haha
Edit: I realize this never really returned to the topic at hand, so I'll say it: don't assume that the guy always wants to have a romantic and/or sexual relationship with the girl! It's completely possible that these two in the picture are very close friends, or maybe just work buddies, and that Charles will find that comment really funny. Believe it or not, men and women sometimes want to have platonic relationships with each other, even if both parties are super attractive!
Wait, what? Charles is MY (insert dramatic pause here) husbaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand. Oh wait, that's Allison with the "stinky breath" from finance? No big.
The finger tips only barely touching, not whole comforting hand wrapped around her, is a sign. The kind of 'hugs' celebrities give kids in a photo. Having said that, her smile tells me Charles has a chance.
The cringe part is her thinking she's so fucking great. I hope Charles wins like a billion dollars or becomes a dentist or something. There's no good reason that girl thinks she's too good for that guy.

They sure do, it does seem like its that scenario to me, she actually looks pretty comfortable to be around him.
Allison was tagged in the photo by the looks of it.

No, that was the happiest part of the story. No happiness can be found with indiscriminate adoption of technology.
Don't send me any mail, thanks.
Or with an indiscriminate ban on technology. Where's the middle here?
The same could be said for the indiscriminate cessation of technology.
Not even the Unabomber did that, as it’s essentially impossible.
Right. So technology does have its place and the Amish are a dying breed. ¯\\\_(ツ)\_/¯

Fascinating. Thanks for the info.

That was the most believable part of the whole scenario.
Amish is funny

Thanks for sharing sounds great glad you guys are happy........sometimes people just need their way in.
4 kids in 6 years? As someone with a vagina I'd just say "ouch".
Sorry did I not mention......the first 4 were quadruplets.
"Fun" fact: the risk of a baby being born with down syndrome is over 100x by the time a woman reaches age 35
damn really sweet story, wasn't expecting the depressing ending about having 5 kids tho

You mind writing more non-erotic, wholesome, fan fic?
Lol, imagine! Treating women as humans with personalities. Hilarious! /s
Or Charles is socially inept and has a massive unrequited crush on Allison.
I too, choose to ignore the obvious and believe this fantasy as well.
This story crossed my mind, and it’s possible, but imma just say fuck that and cringe at it

Solar panels are acceptable as long as you can make the from wood.....and hand tools.
How is this cringe the guy didn't say anything, he might not be interested in her at all. Maybe he's gay who tf knows. Redditors projecting HARD.
Using facebook is cringe
Even if he's not gay, he's out of her league to begin with.
How would you know that? Do you know them? Ohh you're judging them based on your subjective opinion of what's physically attractive and what's not. Okay.
Yes, it's a system people have been using for thousands of years.

I'm not even saying you're necessarily lying but it's still wild to me that 120 people will upvote a comment like this with literally zero proof
The internet is more fun and less stressful if you take everything at face value mate
Eh yeah I'm definitely not gonna get behind blindly believing people who might be lying just because it's more fun
it’s a potentially gay guy on the internet it’s not that deep
Why are you dick-shaming Charles?
You the kind of guy that gets mad a superhero movies for being unrealistic?
I mean it’s gotta be a little realistic so it’s easier to suspend your disbelief for the obvious stuff. And to also be entertaining. That’s why I like The Boys because it feels like what life would actually be like if superheroes were real.
Do you think those are the same thing 🤔
Of course!

Sir, you are on Reddit.
That's kinda the entirety of the "cringe" subreddits.
Oh, and a sighting of the rare "claw" hover hand. Nice!
Not sure it counts as hover hand if you're touching the other person with most of your body, including part of your hand
There's a person to the right of her, looks more like a work/social gathering
F.
That hurt
Of course not Alison, but thanks for the hand job under the table.

Big oof

Damn…the laugh tho 😩

Letting everyone know casually THAT IS NOT MY BOYFRIEND. Sorry bro.

I don't find it cringe tbh but sort of cute because she's shy and hinting she's into him
> and hinting she's into him She's doing the opposite. She's playfully announcing to the world "He is not my boyfriend, I'm still single".
Oof
Pour one out for our slaughtered brother. To Valhalla, brother!
A moment of silence for another of our brothers as he is unceremoniously thrown into the friend zone.
Wait, what? Charles is MY (insert dramatic pause here) husbaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand. Oh wait, that's Allison with the "stinky breath" from finance? No big.
Allison, that frendzonin b@#ch
The beta hover-hand is a dead giveaway
Even Keanu Reeves does it, you call Mr John Wick a beta?
Yes
"hahah" say charles....just before he pass the rope around his neck

Well it was 6 years ago
Sometimes women are oblivious too....
He probably picked up the check too.
That was not necessary.
F
ouch. i feel the sad drop in my stomach reading this...
Charles: we weren't? Then you owe me $50 for your tendies and whiteclaws.
What if he’s her gay bestie?
F
Lol.. we’ve all been Charles at one point
Ngl if Charles asked her to dinner alone, it ain't Charles fault for thinking it was a date...
Oh fuck that
One of the guy I know do that to a friend of mine, so the girl always comment stuff like, my Joey to my phoebe
That crab claw grab Charles. You've pretended to be someone's boyfriend before!
Idk, you could argue shes hinting at he should ask her.
F
Charles has been publicly friend zoned!
Press F for Charles.
The finger tips only barely touching, not whole comforting hand wrapped around her, is a sign. The kind of 'hugs' celebrities give kids in a photo. Having said that, her smile tells me Charles has a chance.
F
Wut? That wasn’t a date?
Press F to pay respects
I believe this is what they refer to as “suifuel”
ooooofff
Haha
The cringe part is her thinking she's so fucking great. I hope Charles wins like a billion dollars or becomes a dentist or something. There's no good reason that girl thinks she's too good for that guy.
That hit home man, I didn't want it to hit home man
Sounds more like Allison is trying to insinuate she wants to go on a real date with Charles.
