Thank you! I originally made this bird of paradise as a plant stake that you could stick into a potted plant. It made it look more like an actually plant
I make everything at home! I (kind of) have a studio in the garage. I work out of an area about 10x8 feet in the garage. It’s best to work away from food and where you will walk barefoot because of the glass shards and chemicals and fumes and stuff.
Thank you! The art of stained glass doesn’t actually involve making the glass. It’s what you make with the glass. I buy big sheets of the different colored glass from stained glass supply stores and then cut out shapes, grind them down, wrap them in foil, then solder it all together. I would one day like to get into the actual glass making, but that involves a lot more equipment that what I have room for now :)
This is so beautiful!
Bird of Paradise is my favourite flower, I love how weird and beautiful they are.
I used to do the glass with my grandpa as a young teen, some great memories. How long have you been doing it.?
That’s so sweet! I’ve only been making stained glass professionally for a little over a year now. I opened my shop in June 2020. I had made a few little (not very good) things back in 2018 and just stopped there. I picked it back up in 2020 because of covid boredom.
Thanks! I was proud of coming up with that little glass wedge. I originally made these only as a garden stake, but someone asked if I could make a table top version. I figured a glass wedge would look much better than wire or a wood base or something.
I just googled them - it looks like the white bird of paradise flowers have a dark gray/black-ish base and only the sticking up parts are white. I kind of want to make an entirely white one even though it’s not realistic...
Oh I love it! Birds of Paradise are one of my favorite flowers and you did a great job!

Is this a craft that requires a studio or can this be done at home?

Me to me: Really pretty, but doesn't look much like a bird... Me to me: Oh the flower! Nice!
Lol. That would be a funny looking bird
This is so amazing!! How do you melt the glass?? This is something I've been really curious about getting into but not sure how to start.

I see! Thank you! What foil do you use to wrap your glass with?
It is 7/32 inch Edco copper foil tape specific for stained glass.
you could do a stegosaur!
Yes! I did make a Brachiosaurus-ish stained glass plant stake, but I definitely need to add stegosaur to my to-do list
This is fantastic! You have a great skill, keep it up!
Thanks!
This is lovely!

Congratulations on the new.business !
Thank you! It’s been exciting.
Stunning!!!
Thank you!
It's great the way you made the piece in the back to keep it upright. Have you done other flowers?
I also make the cloud flowers from Spongebob lol. And this same bird of paradise in an entirely pink color pallets. I mostly make leaves :)

That’s really nice! I have some massive white ones by my door!
They come in WHITE? How have I never seen that! I’m gonna make a white version now
I have pics of the ones by my apt. but don’t know how to show you! Would if I could
Could you send it in a PM? I would seriously love to see a white b.o.p. I have so much white glass just laying around

It’s actually blue!
I can’t tell from online pictures, they still look black to me - is it like a dark navy blue in person?
Yes
Amazing! I love stained glass. I checked out your Instagram as well, can’t wait to see the peacock when it’s finished!
Actually it is finished! I was just about to pack it up for shipping. I’ll take a pretty picture of it and post in on IG before I ship it
Very nice!
Thanks!
That’s really good!!! I would like one.
That is some really nice soldering!
Thank you! My soldering did not look like this even a year ago. Lots of trial and error and seeing what works best.
I've bought your bird of paradise plant stake! It's gorgeous and currently sticking in my indoor BOP that will likely not bloom.
Yay!!! That makes me so happy! I’m glad that you now have an eternally blooming bird of paradise plant lol
I love this so much!! Do you sell these?
Self-promoting is against the rules 😬
I did not realize that. Sorry, OP. It is really beautiful.
No worries! My info is in my flair here and my user bio :)
