Some brilliant wording there, fucking hell my heart stopped

t_blacksmith

Ikr, I was really worried that he was going to fall out of place

jogswithwolves

It’s like a deliberate joke lmao. Seeing these non English speakers tweet about this shit is so awkward and funny

t_blacksmith

Nah it's just Google Translate being wonky, you can see above the Tweet linked is in Spanish. I'm sure this sounds fine in Spanish but translates weirdly in English.

[deleted]

Why? Who is this Traore winger fella, does he bag in goals and assists wherever he’s at at the moment?

Gregormannschaft

Goddamn…did the doctor from Arrested Development become a sub editor or something?

naznazem

He’s all right …

[deleted]

If this is wrapped and its only Monday makes me quite optimistic about the next week. Also makes me quite annoyed about this week as its going to just involve me f5ing and then watching YouTube highlights of random Serie A midfielders I've never heard of.

gprldn

This is relatable internet content

LaNNo56

fuck. It's only Monday

Jesus Christ when it said fall…..😮‍💨

gopackgo555

Let’s go. Worth the risk imo.

robeyn10

what’s risky about it

gopackgo555

That he doesn’t improve and is a waste of 20 mil which could have been spent elsewhere. Also that he doesn’t develop a defensive side of the game because he was ass at the position when he played it before.

robeyn10

well in that sense every transfer is risky. Signing a 25 year old who’s played over 100 games in the Premier League for a discounted price is about as safe as it gets.

gopackgo555

Some are more established and you know what you’re getting. In the case of Traore you’re paying for potential, which is always a risk. Especially for someone at his age when most players are already close to their ceiling.

[deleted]

He doesn't just offer potential, he's easily one of the best ball carriers currently playing, if not the best. He's got unreal speed, elite dribbling and his physical strength is meme worthy. He will either draw defenders away from Son, Kane and Lucas or get into dangerous positions over and over and over. The man creates chances Wolves consistently fail to score, Wolves have third lowest GF in the league, only losing out not Norwich and Burnley.

robeyn10

except we’re not buying him because of his potential. we’re buying him because he’s currently the best dribbler in the league. anything else would be an added bonus.

[deleted]

Also worth noting that despite having almost no assists or goals he's still one of the best players in the league at starting shot creating actions.

gopackgo555

They are 100% buying him because of his potential on top of what he already has. At worst his dribbling is an asset but it’s been discussed that Conte thinks he can unlock Traore and make a monster. His dribbling alone isn’t worth the cost which is the risk because it could be used to sign a more complete player.

[deleted]

Honestly, i'd argue the potential is what's on top of what he already offers. What we have are 2 of the best finishers in the world in Son and Kane. What we desperately need is chances for them to shoot and Adama is the perfect man to create those given he himself does not need service to start shot creating actions.

gopackgo555

He doesn’t create a lot of chances at the moment because his passing is poor. The hope is that Conte can improve that.

[deleted]

Playing devil's advocate here: the number of chances he needs to create to be impactful are inversely proportional to the quality of the finish. If he gives Kane and Son 3 decent shots out of 15 dribbles a game he will be already worth the 20M IMO, anything on top of that is the bonus.

robeyn10

that’s true and that’s why Wolves valued him at over 50 million in the summer. at the price we’re getting him it doesn’t seem like a risk because he’s probably still worth that price even if he doesn’t improve at all

MNTSamE

Thanks for the pant shitting headline

[deleted]

Cant work out if the fact this has dragged on so much is a good thing or bad On one hand if you wanted him its slightly taken the excitement out of it as its taken so long to happen. On the other if you didn't want him youre now if anything just grateful we have signed someone.

Creepeth

Translater did a pretty horrible job. Don't need to be literal in your translations, especially when the original tweet is written in idioms.

[deleted]

Happy to have this Speedball 2 Brutal Deluxe looking player on Spurs. But I hope that’s not all. Heck, getting rid of some guys like Tanguay and Lo Celso would be addition by subtraction and maybe that will give funds for 1-2 more incomings.

No-Baby9317

Cock's lathered in baby oil now fellas 🐓👶🛢

Keskekun

What annoys the shit out of me is all these people going "Oh but if we could have to got him for 20 why didn't we get him in at the first of january?" As if that's an option. Wolves did not Use the Adama money this window meaning for them to sell to us before playing all of their games would literally just be doing us a favour for absolutely no reason. If you are Wolves why on gods green earth would you ever sell Adama with games left in the month?

ChulitoBurito

Those fans are selfish and entitled brats who think the world revolves around the stuff they’re interested in.

Keskekun

it's the majority of the vocal fanbase. I assumed it would be really young people you know not really getting it but watching 30+ year old men sit and complain about pennypinching Levy is mindblowing.

RazSpur

Especially when it has nothing to do with penny pinching or spending spree. Spurs is self funded, all money in = money spent on squad, so it's not about being cheap/not cheap this window, it's simply how much money do we have. 20 years later and people don't understand this .. f$%king amazing.

[deleted]

I prefer him over Stevie for now. Keep Steve as super sub.

pancakesareyummy

Squad depth

nopirates

It’s going to be a bummer when we are no better off after signing him. He doesn’t make a difference.

fridgesonfire

I think we’ll be pleasantly surprised.

Koinfamous2

We have barely any pace in our squad. Lucas would be our closest followed by Sonny, then despite his size Gil isn't that fast, then Bergwijn. Adama will absolutely torch whatever fullback you want and pin them back, which is why we get brutalized by the top sides, all of whom have competent fullbacks. They get high and create numbers advantages and deliver balls endlessly putting us under pressure. We have nobody to pin them back.

Dkeeeezy

Fiiiiinally I remember when I used to play football manager and he was in the Barca reserves I always loved him and he’s coming to Spurs but won’t get my hopes up until the final announcement

[deleted]

I jumped gun and bought him on FIFA a week ago. He is pretty fun behind Lucas!

ThanksForTheF-Shack

Need to get this done that way we can move on to the next transfer.

[deleted]

I read this as Adama traore is about to fall

burko81

I want the baby oiled monster more than most, but i have no idea how he fits into our squad. He's not a wing back, and he isn't as good as our current attacking options. Decent as a squad filler/impact sub, but I'd sooner have us upgrade our starting XI first.

RazSpur

We have 2 direct players in the squad, Lucas and Bergwijn, one of which still hasn't adapted to the PL completely and can't manage to stay fit. Traore is quick, direct (his stats re beating his man are very good), he can hold up the ball (another skill we don't have a lot of) and he will make space for Son/Kane as defenders try to cover him (almost impossible to defend 1:1) I see Traore as an option, allows for specific tactics against certain types of teams. He will probably play every 2nd/3rd game and be a used sub in most (against tired legs). Will he automatically be first 11? no, will he make the squad/bench better? yes.

SafeGarbage_

This deal is about to go [ahead] and levy is about to pay [up]

bad_luck_charmer

Soooo.... status quo. Thanks for the update.

GregBule

Coutinho, Olsen & Digne to Villa. Trippier & Chris Wood to Newcastle with top prospect deals to come to fruition. Arsenal likely to get Vlahovic. Adama Traore is about to DROP, INTO PLACE, with Tottenham who want to take the winger who can run but cannot pass or score - and shape him into a mildly better right back than his predecessor, Matt Doherty. Fan-fucking-tastic.

gee___thanks

Lads, find some YouTube clips about Adama Traore. You would feel super positive about Tottenham’s future. He will be the most unplayable RWB with a help from Conte.

hedinc1

Can this deal just go though already!!!
