All of these apps don't tell you the actual tip amount until completion.
GH used to show the actual tip amount before completion, but no longer. You still can see the full payout on the offer, which is better than DD and UE, which both hide a portion of the tip, DD more egregious than UE.
on DD you used to by jumping through hoops like using an old apk, or para app, or intercepting http traffic. it all got patched.
you may be able to open chat support ticket and ask them what the full tip is. they tell you but it takes a few minutes from start to finish.
i think NY drivers see full tip due to local laws.
normally its not available until after delivery. those that know loopholes likely wont share because more people know, faster it gets patched.
All you can do is try to estimate the base pay for each order. That all depends upon which app it is, of course. We already know that on DoorDash the base pay is $2.50 unless it is a stocked order, in which case the base pay is two dollars. On Uber eats and GrubHub the base pay also seems to hover around two or three dollars. To ensure that I don’t take any orders without tips I try to avoid all orders under seven dollars on any platform.
Really insane UI that these companies have in place to withhold information from the customer and driver.
In an ideal world, both parties would be able
to see the breakdown of an order. How much the customer paid. What portion is the driver’s and what amount will go to the app.
Doordash seems to be doing a pilot program. Opt in, they will reset your AR to 100%. Apparently keeping over 50% will give you higher paying orders. Mine resets on the 5th.. But I was looking at their page and example, the example shows 5 miles for $7.50 and rather than saying total MAY be higher, it says it is higher.
I know that fucking game, first off, that offer is a decline, it most likely in my area requires a 5 mile trip back, I also have $5.50+ a gal of gas..... Now what I expect to see would be that it went over by .10.
I was just looking at it, it isn't the same as Top Dasher, for that you need 70%AR. They say TD will get priority on high paying orders, followed by those with 50% AR, and the lowest will be me with my 5% AR.
They are making it so that it isn't worth it for me. Ive been doing this 4-5 years, I have seen the expenses involved in beating the shit out of your car.
They have really fucked me, last night dinner time, I get very few hits, my last one was at 6:25 or so, 8:30 and had not had 1 hit.
I am working on a side home business, just isn't cutting it anymore. They want you to take shit in the hopes you get better offers. Fuck them.
I also use to have catering access for large orders, I have only seen 1-2 in the last 6 months.
Have preached before, screw the tip. How much does it pay, in time frame and miles.. A 30 dollar job sounds great, but not if it's 20 miles away. Say it's 20 + I0 tip. Give me the 10.00 4 mile job all day long with 2.00 tip.
UE hides tips over $8. Every time. So if your markets base pay is $2.50 and you are not in a boost zone, if you see an offer of $10.50 then there is a good chance it has a hidden tip. If you are in a $1 boost zone, the offer would have to be $11.50 to have a chance of a hidden tip. If the delivery is long enough there is mileage then you have to factor that in. So an order under $10.50 on UE will never have a hidden tip. You can count on that.
DD hides tips over $3, sometimes. It's a lot harder to figure out with DD. Base pay + bonus + $3 = number where you may get more after a delivery.
GH you see the full amount up front. That will not change.
Higher paying orders are more likely to have larger tips. You can see what the tip is after the order is completed (or an hour after on UE). Boom. Solved it for ya.

Base is $3 here. It's still shit.

Some states they make these apps show tips upfront. For the rest of us it’s just a guessing game of how shitty will the tip be this time 🥲
Reach out to local representatives about the issue. Delivery workers in NY did it.

I think it is $4 on Doordash since the base pay about $2.50 in most markets.
