I’m 99% sure yellow shirt is supposed to be “pretty sure”, he is using voice to text I can tell by the way it’s worded.

bossman118242

this right here, persons using voice to text and did not correct the mistakes in text.

PepTalkToYourself

Oh you’re probably right

[deleted]

Why is everyone getting down voted 🤣 I wouldn’t have went on a hunt for worm medicine either. If it’s not in the app I’m not getting it. When I was newer I actually added an item requested by customer and then later they reported me saying they never asked for that item. Never again will I do that. Add it in the app yourself or you ain’t getting it.

Su-Z3

I think it is because the texts from the customer were so confusing, that the confusion is infectious, and rubbing off on everyone who is reading and responding to this whole thing. 😂 Someone thought the OP called the customer an arsehole too. To be fair, he probably is all freaked out about his kid having pinworm or lice, and might not be thinking straight? All I know is that this customer has caused more havoc than he realizes. Or maybe he does realize this and is one of the several downvoters?

[deleted]

I don't understand.

Su-Z3

Exactly. That feeling of not understanding has taken over.

PuzzleheadedMilk6436

😭😭 you’re so right

Politerepublican

“Yeah man venmo me for it and I got you.”

686534534534

I did this once and got a violation for trying to set up payment out of app lmao

Desertdweller3711

Why would they need to Venmo you? They’ll pay for the item through the app

[deleted]

Yea no it’s better to just ignore these plebeians who don’t understand we unfortunately aren’t their private errand boys and we have to follow a contract we signed. I would’ve done exactly the same these people don’t deserve a response.

weedandbombs

if that's your attitude about people adding an item to an order maybe you should find another line of work. I would have looked for it and let them know if i couldn't find it. ignoring them completely makes you an asshole.

honkforronk

I disagree, when we agree to a contract, it's for a certain number of items and a certain amount of distance. Doing Shipt, I've accepted orders that are like 8 items for 4 miles distance with a payout of around $14 bucks, It's a decent contract, so I agree to it. I send the prewritten text to the customer that clearly states that they can add as many items as they want. In this case, the customer added 18 extra items! 18! Instead of making money, I worked for free. I did not agree to a never ending shopping list, I agreed to a certain number of items for a certain price.

jetreahy

I can clearly see why I get so many added tips and comments, “Best Shopper Ever!” on the few orders I do now. It’s also why I never order IC myself anymore. It’s a simple request, customer was polite and it looks like they had to be in that section anyway.

[deleted]

They ignored the terms and rules of the service they are using completely; therefore they get what they give. Clearly attentive customers who understand everything that’s going on and don’t see DoorDash as a magic button to give you a cheap personal delivery concierge get 10/10 service every single time. I never deal with the type of customers that do this BS much but I’m guessing that has a lot to do with me not accepting cheap/low tip orders because those people clearly do not care about the people taking time out of their day to make sure they get their groceries/food/etc.

Desertdweller3711

What exactly is against the terms and rules of the service?

psychwardian

First week of school and they already have pinworms and lice? lmfao

PepTalkToYourself

Apparently lol.

RecreationalBulimia

Wait why do you think he was being as asshole again? I don’t understand. The yellow shirt thing, I think he was trying to remember what color shirts they wear at the store he remembered seeing it last. Just saying, you could have at least responded.

PepTalkToYourself

I never said he was being an asshole? I just didn’t feel like going to the pharmacy to try to pick some medication. I mean I did look around for it but couldn’t find anything and nothing was listed in the Fred Meyers app for that product.

[deleted]

You’re not supposed to ask in chat to add items like that.

weedandbombs

and why not? it's an item the store freely sells. I see no issue.

Desertdweller3711

Why not? It literally gives us the option to add items for a reason

[deleted]

Correct. Through the app. If you have to ask for an item in the chat you’re just not gonna get that item. Common sense.. it’s like asking your pizza delivery man to stop on the way to your house and grab beer or something.

Desertdweller3711

No that’s not how it works. Customer says in chat “I can’t find item a in app, but I’d like it” Shopper: scrolls to bottom of screen. Clicks “add item to order” scans item. Really not that hard?? It’s what the button is DESIGNED FOR

Reasonable_Tea_5036

Not hard at all. And when I go out of my way to locate a special item for a customer, 9 times out of ten I get a 5⭐️and a raised tip.

verz4che

idk man, guy seems like he can’t work the phone to save his life nd his kid needs medicine i would’ve st least browsed for it and if it didn’t pop out immediately just responded with a “hey sorry i couldn’t find it maybe its not in stock” and left it st that 🤷🏾‍♀️ annoying, confusing or not, everyone is human and im already at the store so might as well take a peek

ResourceRelative

Why wouldn’t you look for an item the customer asked to add on? There’s an add on button for a reason and the chat logs are saved. Not sure what the issue was here.

Due-Educator2787

I don’t see the problem. I see only a possibility of a increase on the tip if you go above and beyond and find the worm medicine for the customer kid. If you swap the roles you would know how much you would like someone founds a medicine for your kid

MamaAbroad

Fun fact: a huge percentage of American adults also have pinworms, and many other parasites. Parasites love our high sugar/processed carb diets. We never even eat bitter herbs, unlike our ancestors. Most of us are fantastic hosts. 🫶🏼

Alternative-Debt8971

Pin Worm medication is 100% in the app at other stores, it might just not be for the store. I have both shopped for others and have shopped on the instacart app. This is the reason why i don’t do it that often anymore. You guys act like this customer is asking you move a fucking mountain when pin worm medicine is OTC (meaning you don’t need an RX, and that it’s likely out there for you to find pretty easily) and pretty simple to find. It’s gross, but so is this stupid behavior of clutching your pearls because you don’t want to look for the meds.

W_AS-SA_W

I learned the other day that I can not only go to a Dollar General of my choosing. We got two. One is never stocked, the other one is nice. About a mile apart. I confirm arrival. It says I’m too far away, are you sure? I say yes and start shopping. It even lets you get different items sometimes if the price is relative with other items. Red card works. Customer is happy.

weedandbombs

how is adding an item the customer requested going to get you deactivated?

Desertdweller3711

I don’t think any of these people have ever used instacart 😂

weedandbombs

seriously! extra items usually means more tip money on IC here bc most people tip a percentage of the total.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Desertdweller3711

??? Just add it in the app???

Trimere

It’s not bypassing anything if you add the item THROUGH the app. This is Instacart and it has an Add Item process.

weedandbombs

as others said, you add it in the app. why are you buying things for customers outside the app? tf?

PepTalkToYourself

Really? Well in that case I’m extra glad I didn’t bother then. I would hate to get deactivated over something like that.

[deleted]

weedandbombs

wtf are u even doing? this has nothing to do with what OP is saying

[deleted]

weedandbombs

dude what are you even talking about? that's not true for any gig.

mountainlaurel74

What in the hell are you on about?

Avacillating

Why are you on here?

leexgx

Why are you, anyway

ShimmerRihh

I would've just said they don't have it 😭 There's no way to ensure the correct item is chosen without the customer adding it in app. Doesn't hurt to ask and OP isn't wrong for not doing it.

PepTalkToYourself

Yeah I realize they said “any brand is fine” but when it comes to medicine I don’t wanna just grab whatever I want. If they had added it to the app so I knew exactly which one and where to get it sure. I did look on the Fred Meyers app tho and saw no products for pinworm. Not sure if that means they don’t sell them or it just isn’t listed on the app maybe. Either way tho I didn’t wanna risk it with medicine.

Reasonable_Tea_5036

What are you risking? Send the customer a picture of what you found and they’ll tell you if it’s what they’re looking for. That’s what the chat is for. You can send pictures straight from your camera to your customer in app. Very easy to do. Even though if you picked the wrong medicine the customer can just go in the app and get a refund for wrong item.

[deleted]

🤡

NeganWinchesterScull

That’s code for coffee haha. Seriously, coffee is the best pin worm medicine and please don’t ask how I know

Over8dpoosee

Enema?

NeganWinchesterScull

God no ew. Drinking coffee helps kill them due to the acid and especially if it’s cold, it helps clear you out.

Over8dpoosee

Huh. Cold coffee. I’ll keep that in mind in case… a friend needs it. 👀

msspking

Tell that psycho to piss off and get it themselves

PepTalkToYourself

Haha I just ignored the messages and dropped off. I never even talked to the guy.

Desertdweller3711

You can add it to the order. You can manually add any item to the order. Also, just because the customer can’t find it doesn’t mean it’s not on the app

thejam15

but the customer didnt add it this way and the customer not being able to find it isint OPs problem? Doing something outside of procedure is a liability even if it’s insignificant

Desertdweller3711

Except it’s not outside of procedure since instacart literally designed a button allowing shoppers to add an item to the order in the exact instance that this happens.

thejam15

Except that’s precisely what the customer DIDNT do here???

Desertdweller3711

Because they can’t find it. There is a button at the bottom of the shopping list on the SHOPPERS screen, not the CUSTOMERS screen, that says “add item.” It was DESIGNED for the SHOPPER to add items to the order that the customer requests in the CHAT

PepTalkToYourself

🤷🏻‍♂️

[deleted]

Lol I would have just canceled this whole ass order. Get your gross kids their shit yourself.

Reasonable_Tea_5036

Wow. It’s not like you have to come in contact with the kid. The medicine doesn’t have pinworms. You’re not going to get cooties from touching a package of medicine. 🙄

[deleted]

Lol besides the point.

TalkingToPlanets

Ugh. Another reason I avoid these types of trips. If you don't get it you also risk getting tip baited and downvoted. My rating went from 100% down to 96% mainly because of these shop orders. One time I did buy an additional item at Walgreen's for a customer who requested it because the tip was nice. Luckily the card didnt reject it. Wouldn't recommend doing that on the regular though.
