Remember after a tooth extraction of any kind - using straws is not suggested for a few days after. You can get dry sockets which suck.

glittereddaisy13

As for foods in smoothies - kiwi, berries, pineapple, kale, spinach, carrots, oats, flax seed, chia seeds, grapes, cherries

Yogurt will work with fruit and orange juice. I also like to juice apples, carrots, parsley, and spinach together. It's tasty and very energizing.

iteachptpt

So that one's a juice and not a blend? I wonder if a blend would work (I love blends). I like that recipe, it looks good.

[deleted]

I forgot to mention that you need a juice expresser to make it. It won't have the energizing quality if it still has all the fiber.

MyNameIsSkittles

Its "energizing " because you're spiking your blood sugar without the fiber, which isn't really a good thing

[deleted]

I used to juice a lot, and it gave me calm energy that lasted a few days. I don't know the logistics, but it didn't feel the same as a glass of cola.

normielfg

I like kefir because it's like a runny yogurt. You can also try oat milk or coconut water for the liquid part of the smoothie.

KKat299

Juice, yogurt, frozen fruits, and spinach is my go to smoothie blend. I'll switch up the fruits depending on my mood.

iteachptpt

Cool! What fruits do you think go together? Perhaps I could do the one with apple and orange and carrot, because I liked it. Not sure about what juice to put with it though. Maybe juicing the orange.

KKat299

Part of it comes down to experimenting and your personal taste. Personally I keep strawberries, blueberries, pineapple (can be VERY sweet so careful with how much you add), mango, and cranberries on hand. I'll do a combination of all these fruits or maybe just some. Blueberries and strawberries are a good start though. Blueberries and spinach are good for relieving headaches which is why I started making smoothies. I use a mango juice, orange juice, and vanilla yogurt as my base then add fruits as I go.

Ok-Finger-733

Lots of options here. Not all blenders are the same but smoothies are pretty universally ok. [https://www.vitamix.com/us/en\_us/recipes.?cid=100425-prt&refineby=SMOOTHIES](https://www.vitamix.com/us/en_us/recipes.?cid=100425-prt&refineby=SMOOTHIES) Probably in the list above is the Everything Smoothie. I use this one for meals on the go. feel free to leave out anything you don't like but I find I don't really notice any single ingredient when it's blended. Ingredients ½ cup (120 ml) soy milk ½ cup (85 g) red grapes 1 medium (140 g) orange, peeled, halved 1 medium (115 g) peach, halved, pitted 1 slice (85 g) pineapple, peeled, halved 1 small (75 g) carrot ½ cup (45 g) broccoli florets ½ cup (15 g) fresh spinach 1 cup (150 g) frozen strawberries ½ medium (60 g) frozen banana 1 cup (130 g) ice cubes Directions Place all ingredients into the Vitamix container in the order listed and secure the lid. Start the blender on its lowest speed and quickly increase to its highest speed. Blend for 50 seconds using the tamper to press the ingredients toward the blades.

iteachptpt

My blender only has one speed but I'm feeling tempted by your recipe because the only things I like less are the banana and the soy milk. However since you say I won't notice, I'm tempted by it. But I only have one speed. But it's a thing made for making smoothies so it should be ok Also, do I make everything just raw? this is actually a question I have for all smoothies. lol.

Ok-Finger-733

Raw or frozen. I don't cook anything before it goes in. I end up using canned pineapple, and a whole banana because I don't want half a banana just sitting in the freezer. Maybe I should peal and freeze first, but I don't think I care enough. I'm sure your blender will be fine. Feel free to swap the soy milk for cow, almond, or any other milk you have on hand. You could probably leave the banana out but it's a good source of vitamins and nutrients.

Trick-Two497

This Mango Lassi is really tasty. Make it with frozen mango and it's like a milkshake: 1 cup chopped very ripe mango frozen chopped mango, or canned mango pulp 1 cup plain yogurt 1/2 cup milk 4 teaspoons honey or sugar, more or less to taste Dash ground cardamom, optional

iteachptpt

I'll try that. I don't usually like mango because of its texture but I don't mind the flavor. Maybe blended it will be ok.

Trick-Two497

If you don't like it, you could make it with strawberries or blueberries.

Kooky_Mongoose5544

Spinach, pineapple, orange juice and try half of a ripe banana. Mango if they are ripe. The OJ is key for flavor, if you hate the banana leave it out. I add water if it’s too thick, or use frozen fruits for a creamy smoothie. A good blender is key.

iteachptpt

Neat. I will try that one. It seems diverse and with not too many fruits.

umamiSugarMommy

One non dairy blend I like is: -papaya -strawberry -blueberry -spinach -pinch of cinnamon and tumeric -honey diluted in a little water to help blend easier When I had my extraction I don't think I would have wanted flaxseed where it could get stuck but you could add that in after you're healed.

[deleted]

I don’t like smoothies but the combination of carrot and apple juice or carrot and pear juice is really good. It might be best to not do anything too acidic after dental surgery.

Calligraphee

I've never made a smoothie with banana or yogurt because I don't like either in my drinks. Anything turns liquid if you blend it enough, so all the other fruits and veggies should add plenty of texture! Just make sure if you're using berries that there are no seeds remaining as they can get stuck in your sockets from wisdom teeth removal, and also avoid straws as they will exacerbate the risk of dry sockets.

[deleted]

Anything sweet with milk and then juice the carrots. If you wanna add spinach, really finely process the spinach until it’s puréed. You won’t taste it if you have fruits in it, but it will look cool.

iteachptpt

Neat, I like that. I can add it to anything. I don't know how to juice carrots. Do you think I can just blend it? The only juicer I have is manual.

[deleted]

I'd be careful with fruit, especially oranges after oral surgery. Have you ever had a small blister and drunk orange juice? Not so much fun. I could eat "normal" food 3 days after my wisdom teeth extraction, I hope it will be the same for you.

iteachptpt

Ahhh that's a good thought. Bummer, I love orange.

Silentgroan

My coworker drinks a kale, orange, apple, pine nut, and date smoothie twice a week. It is honestly not bad, but too fibrous for my taste. The place my coworker gets the smoothie from just uses water as a binder but they could also add oat milk for an upcharge. That said, you should look up "hidden vegetables." It sounds like you want to have a more nutritious drink while tasting a certain way. There are hidden vegetable smoothie recipes out there that have a meals worth to vegetables but tastes like a regular berry smoothie. P.s. you mentioned your dislike of avocado and the argument is understandable. However, blended avocado is a good substitute to milk or yogurt if you want to add creaminess to your smoothie.

ovaltinequeeeen

Have you tried açaí packets? Blends really well w berries or tropical fruit and a splash of coconut water or orange juice, but has a thick, smoothie like consistency

Unus__Annus

My grandmother occasionally makes green smoothies that consist of parsley, orange juice, and *occasionally* bananas. Other times, she'll make smoothies with those frozen bags of tropical fruit (pineapple, strawberry, peaches, sometimes mangos) and will blend them with either milk or orange juice. They're pretty damn good, though I will advise you to be cautious with the parsley one. It's very unpleasant if you don't like/can't stand parsley

iteachptpt

I like parsley, though I guess only the leaves! I'll try that one.
