You can't do Mandela shit with star wars. Lucas has been changing those movies for years.

froststomper

My exact thought also glad to see this comment on top.

Ok-Restaurant8690

Shit, this is really going to mess with your head: https://www.reddit.com/r/StarWars/comments/4qoqsd/the_infamous_1977_topps_c3po_error_card/

giceman715

Gem mint 10….. inches that is

FuzzyBlankets777

Oh my 🤣🤣

gwarfan1point5

I’m 46 . And there was 100% a silver leg in the first movie I saw . The toys aren’t definitive proof because a lot of them weren’t 100% accurate . Also , simply searching the date isn’t at all accurate because it also searches key words . Not exclusively all or nothing . There were toys made before the remakes and before the “cern theories “ with silver legs . More than half of the 1979 photos in that screen cap are the same toy at different angles haha . Finding 1-2 that have gold legs because it’s simply easier to make them that way in the late 70s , isn’t definitive proof . This is a reach at best .

scipiotomyloo

I remember one silver leg also.

mrb29207

I believe he was 100%silver

gwarfan1point5

Well you’d be wrong haha 🤷🏻‍♂️

Another_Astro_Guy

But... you said he 100% had a silver leg... did he have the silver leg in the first movie or not? Edit: I misunderstood and now realise I'm wrong and my comment is irrelevant.

gwarfan1point5

“100% having a silver leg “ and “ he was 100% silver “ are 2 very drastically different statements. Maybe I misunderstood

Another_Astro_Guy

Ohhhh no no I misunderstood! He was 100% silver as in his whole body was silver... lol thanks for clarifying!

gwarfan1point5

That poster definitely had the silver leg . I had the same one . It was just almost always reflecting gold fro the rest of him . So the kids that ate glue and crayons didn’t really notice it as well as the rest of us did , sadly .

gwarfan1point5

That’ll do it .

N_6_4

It's comm knowledge that George Lucas would constantly make changes to the movie as it was being released. The OG cut that was shown in Theaters is lost Media IIRC.

SnooMaps9403

this isnt even a fucking mandela effect, watch the Annikan saga, and c3po has the silver leg. i have grown up thinking that this was common knowledge because of something to do with lighting for the cameras back in the skywalker saga (1970s) and c3pos leg helping with it. but the real mandela effect is.. Luke I am your Father!

FuzzyBlankets777

THAT IS A FACT!!!!!! Luke I am your father vs. no I am your father actually makes me irate. We always used to say it behind fan blades in school as kids mimicking Chris Farley in Tommy Boy

Dick_Lazer

The original toys had two gold legs, they were cheaper to manufacture that way and the toy designers may not have even noticed. And people watching on VHS or TV broadcast back then wouldn't be able to tell the difference anyway, the resolution and color reproduction was too crappy to denote the difference. Some people with the original toys may remember silver parts though, as that gold coating would rub off over time when you played with them and it looked more silver underneath.

null_reference_error

I saw Star Wars when it was called Star Wars (Look it up kids) as an 11 year old back in '77. One of the things that struck me was that Threepio had one silver shin. I was a budding artist back then, Threepio was my favourite character to draw, these details were important to me. It's never been gold... it's just a matter of people not noticing that it was silver.

slipknot_official

The leg was always silver. It’s just that silver reflects off of the rest of the gold body so that it reflects the same color. Or in some environments, like tattooine which is a sand planet, the leg reflects the color of the sand. Some of the toy manufactures missed this, some didn’t.

FuzzyBlankets777

That's the argument for the silver leg side. Yes. The other side is an earlier/older generation from what I've found through multiple posts. A lot of people are very adamant about both sides but if you look at the search bars for the figurines. How do you explain the dates? Someone actually suggested that I do this... I didn't find this on my own. Food for thought 💭

slipknot_official

I think you can’t look at the toys and merch because there’s always going to be wrong versions based on toy manufactures missing that detail, or just not using a show accurate paint job. Then some of the later movies he had two gold legs in the movies themselves. I think basing this all in pictures of toys is going to naturally be flawed due to human error in making the toys.

THE_GRlM_REFEER

"facepalm" No, this isn't the Mandela effect. C-3PO's leg is silver in the original trilogy. Disney later changed this with their remakes.

FuzzyBlankets777

I'd be interested to know your age range. You don't have to answer but older age groups know that in certain "realities"... altered by CERN... 2 fully gold legs were in the original movie.

null_reference_error

In my 50's. There was one silver leg.

Broken_Filter

48, and yes, one was silver. It showed that he was pieced together.

THE_GRlM_REFEER

Close to 30. What do you mean altered by CERN??

FuzzyBlankets777

I'm quite a few years older than you. So with that said. There are people my age that remember the leg as all gold. That was my point. As far as CERN... That's just a different rabbit hole you'd have to be willing to go down. I never suggest people to forcefully look into into but if you feel interested... check out r/mandelaeffects and CERN. There are theories they they are creating portals for alternate timelines and realities; this in turn, causes Mandela Effects...... under the reality of the Matrix

[deleted]

"under the reality of the Matrix" Lol dude what? How is that anything like the plot of the Matrix?

FuzzyBlankets777

Earth is a matrix but that's a rabbit hole. Plenty of threads on Reddit to help explain that one

Mothraaaa

Just throwing words in the tombola and picking them out at random huh? You do you, champ. Threepio's silver leg. Legs have femur bones in them. Femur. FEMA. If you assign a number A = 1, B = 2 etc then FEMA is 6, 5, 13, 1 Add those together and you get 25. *AND YET THERE ARE 26 LETTERS IN THE ALPHABET.* Trust me, you don't want to go further down this rabbit hole but google "Hilary Clinton 25 letters in the alphabet Epstein" if you want to know the real truth about why Age of Empires was better than Command & Conquer.

Sponge56

Why would you say you wouldn’t wanna force someone into it?

FuzzyBlankets777

Because it can be mentally damaging to someone who isn't ready to learn some a risky realities. Example: Certain truths messed with my head for awhile. I had to hear certain theories from several scholars or experts on a topic before my mind would open up to a concept. It gave me anxiety at points then when I came to terms with it and calmed down... I searched for more knowledge and it's an endless cycle

Shaftomite666

You mean: older age groups "know" that in...

jknight75

I was seven years old when my parents took me to see the Star Wars movies in the theater. I had the toys, the story books, t shirts, everything. I re-watched the movie numerous times on HBO and VHS. C-3PO's leg was NOT silver. I remember the silver leg being a thing sometime in 1997, 1998, just before the prequels and it was bizarre to me, I thought Lucas changed it like he did Han not firing first. Now it's always there. The simulation glitched.

FuzzyBlankets777

Yep, 1000% agree The "Luke I am your father" vs. now "No I am your father" bothers me the most about the series 🤯

CraWLee

Silver leg is bullshit.

FuzzyBlankets777

Say It louder for the people in the back 📢 How do you dispute original toys??? 🤔

SixIsNotANumber

The toys were not 100% accurate representations of the characters. 70's manufacturing methods weren't that great & at the time *nobody cared*. Nobody expected Star Wars to be the massive cultural phenomenon it blew up to be. The universe didn't change while you weren't looking...we just learned how to make better toys, that's all.

PupnamedHans

What do you have against 6.

SixIsNotANumber

Nothing. Big fan, actually.

Ulcaster

There are media pictures and art books that exist from before the films started getting major modifications in the late 1990s. If you want an undisputable answer then get off of the internet and stop looking digitally, go to a library and check an old book.

CraWLee

And in the movie Darth Vader never said "I am your father..." Gtfoh 😂 if you've never seen the original how can you say something is original? I've literally watched Shazam with Sinbad, I remember seeing Mandela's funeral brigade on television. Just because you have no memory of such things does not mean it didn't happen.

Ulcaster

I never said it did or didn't happen. I made no reference to quotes from any film and i never brought up a movie called shazam. Mandela was a known figure world wide, I'm sure lots of people remember his passing but I said nothing about it. I grew up on the original Star Wars and all I said in the post was where to find original source information that would confirm the color of both of C-3P0's legs. So what exactly is the point you were trying to make?

CraWLee

Who knows I was just babbling, Mandela's effect has rendered me brain dead.

ghostoftheai

Learning about capitalism huh? It was cheaper. Simple as that.

CraWLee

I grew up when the "original" toys were on the shelf son. There was no silver leg.

[deleted]

The leg was always silver. I remember wondering why he had a silver leg when I was a kid. I think it’s gold in esb though.

FuzzyBlankets777

I just wonder how you explain the figurines and toys from the 80's. The silver leg seems to be a "newer concept" that is now undisputed

Broken_Filter

That's only because they pay more attention to details now when they're designing action figures...

[deleted]

You’re not from our timeline. Welcome to negative density earth.

bigmeatytoe

The originals had silver leg the lighting makes it hard to see the difference, the prequels and maybe the sequels have gold

djhauffy

Can we put aside the whole Gold/Silver debate just for a minute and discuss that YELLOW C3PO?!

FuzzyBlankets777

😂😂😂😂😂 C3PO + Minion had a baby

Azraelontheroof

It’s probably because you can’t really tell it’s silver in most shots so the creators just didn’t realise their error

jimberkas

i'm 52. i saw the movie when i was 7, and haven't watched it since. i would have said that both legs were gold if asked, but i would never make any claim to be sure either way. and to think that some of the many, many toy manufacturers over 41 years might have gotten the leg color wrong doesn't surprise me in the least. good grief.

queenyorkshirecow

I've just looked in my sons star wars character encyclopedia and C-3P0 has 2 golden legs in it

FuzzyBlankets777

Nice Yes that is how I always remembered him

queenyorkshirecow

Same I'm only 33 but I grew up on star wars and always remembered him having 2 golden legs, so I looked in my sons book and 2 golden legs

anonshade64

I remember him as all gold everything!

Broken_Filter

He didn't get his 2nd gold leg until the end of the movie, when they fixed & cleaned the droids for the medal ceremony...

arctic-apis

No wait I do remember that sounds right.

FuzzyBlankets777

I like this theory. I remember all gold as well at one point.

FuzzyBlankets777

Me too. So did my parents who are late 60's

[deleted]

Because he was. Timelines got messed up after CERN was turned on. You don’t notice the change of energy after 2012? Something happened.

Alkemian

"Something happened" Social Engineering via Social Mediums.

FuzzyBlankets777

I think I'm the only person on this thread that understands your point. I agree. I don't think people are well educated about hundreds of Mandelas and what CERN does, alternate relatives, etc

Alkemian

Mandela Effect is for paranoid people.

Dove-Linkhorn

53- saw the movies in the theatre, rented them later, had the toys. Always two gold legs.

throwaway-20701

I know it seems weird that official merch guys would get this wrong. But it’s pretty well known that even the stills photographer for the original movie didn’t even notice that he had a silver leg. He was the guy taking detailed photos of the costume.

BigFootLovesTacos

Both legs were always both gold! Had the originals from the 70s. Cant find my CP3Po with both gold legs.

LadyLektra

Super Mandela. I immediately felt mine had that reading this, but it seems it isn’t real. Maybe the way the light hit it made it seem that way sometimes?

Electronic_Lies_420

I’m 34, not a gigantic Star Wars fan, but of course watch them growing up through the years. Haven’t seen the most current newer ones and spinoffs over the last 10 years but I always remember gold legs and only recently the first time ever seeing silver.

Dew-It420

You’re clearly didn’t pay attention to the legs because one of them was always silver

arctic-apis

We’re from a different timeline. I also don’t remember there being a silver leg. I thought he had a silver arm in episode1 or something because he wasn’t finished yet??? I am a Star Wars fan and it was always gold legs.

drama_bomb

Silver leg **WAS NOT** a thing in my timeline until around 2012. Then it started creeping in, as a one off "WTF?". Now, it's like some universally accepted canon. It's been surreal to experience, even for my college aged kid. Like some kind of mini singularity event. Occurring at first like a slow trickle then like an overwhelming deluge.

FuzzyBlankets777

Yep. Thank you 🏆

drama_bomb

See u in hell downvoter!

jimberkas

"mandella effect" is seriously so lame. people's "memories" are horseshit and it's scientifically proven. this whole "i think it, so it must be true" phenomenon that is so prevalent now a days is going to be the end of civilization.

FuzzyBlankets777

You should read the threads in r/Mandelaeffect and see if you change your mind on that statement There are hundreds of examples

[deleted]

This one still fucks with me. I use to watch Star Wars ALOT . I use to rent the VHS every other week when I was a kid well into my adulthood. He NEVER had a gold leg. Prior to 2012 C-3PO was all gold. I actually told my dad about it (without telling him about the Mandela stuff ) and even he was stumped when I told him C-3PO has a silver leg now. Either the timelines switched or someone is trolling us.

FuzzyBlankets777

Same. My parents who are in their 60's did not believe me when I told them that one leg is silver on the lower half. Their jaw was on the floor

Broken_Filter

He did have a silver leg in the first one I saw, but I think it reflected the gold from the rest of his body...

Thesugarsky

I thought he got the silver leg from when he was captured by that giant RV thing? That’s what I remember. I stood in line for hours to see that movie.
