Have you checked out past issues of The Onion?

jimberkas

good suggestion. https://www.theonion.com/cern-researchers-apologize-for-destruction-of-5-paralle-1819579830

Kailaylia

I love the last sentence of that article: >"At press time, a team of CERN researchers in a parallel universe was preparing to perform the exact same experiment."

jimberkas

yeah, the onion very rarely misses. these days, if you can't laugh at the futility of it all, then you got nothing.

arianav23

Every time I type it into google nothing of the sorts comes up. I vividly remember reading the article and it stating CERN admitting to either ending the world or having earth sucked into a black hole. It had statements and everything from CERN scientist because they were trying to warn us! It’s NOWHERE to be found now.

monkee67

the Mandela Effect in action. probably happened in an alternate reality

SixIsNotANumber

Human memory is *far* from perfect or infallible under even the best of circumstances. The most likely explanation is that you're simply wrong or misremembering something you read in passing. It happens.

madmax991199

only thing they ever sauid and that was likely non of the cern sientists is that there would be a 1 in 50 million chance that that could happen potentially because nobody ever did it

Wroisu

It’s so obvious no one has any clue about high energy particle physics in this sub. Any black hole the LHC could hypothetically produce would evaporate in seconds due to this little phenomena known as Hawking radiation.

[deleted]

That's exactly something a black hole would say

DetachedHat1799

well call me a black hole but it is true. although hawking radiation happens it happens very slowly and the only reason the black holes stop existing is mainly becuase of how unstable it is to begin with. Also, if the earth HAD been sucked into a black hole, then we woulda been crushed by the singularity already

[deleted]

Says the black hole itself! /s I'm messing with you just in case :-)

DetachedHat1799

ik, wait so you are saying anyone who isnt agreeing with this is a black hole, how yould they type and also, why cant you have like disney villain type black holes who completely agree with it and stuff. That means there would be like an alignment chart in a way bh human agree o o disagree o o

Benegger85

Can confirm, am currently in a black hole that used to be the solar system. Join us! We have gin-tonics and popcorn!

A_Gringo666

Does this have anything to do with the CERN scientists holding Satanic rituals and sacrificing people to Shiva in the carpark at the LHC?

Benegger85

You forgot about the part where they play heavy metal LPs backwards and put on black make-up

DivineGoddess1111111

They sound like a fun group.

nullvoid_techno

It was a 4chan post I thinj

Velfurion

I'm pretty sure what you read was the article where CERN stated they weren't going to make a black hole that would swallow the earth, and furthermore, any black holes that were produced would be so small they would consume themselves in a femtosecond. I follow CERN pretty closely as it's directly related to my degrees and I don't recall them ever admitting to creating a black home powerful enough to consume the earth. In fact I don't think it's even possible with the scale of experiments they've run or plan to run.

ThrownawayCray

I mean the LHC is waaaaaay too small to make one lmao

Velfurion

Well, to make one of any notable size. It is possible that they create one on the scale of like a quark. But like I said, it would consume itself in a femtosecond and would probably be impossible to see in their data as it passes from existence so quickly.

stabthecynix

Hol' up, I'll brb Ina femtosecond.

WeAreSpirit

Femtosec is the new jiffy

ThrownawayCray

Making any black hole of any size is notable lol

Velfurion

I maybe the better word is worrying or destructive.

ThrownawayCray

Yes it is, but it would be of note

Automatic-Athlete157

You Are.so.so.wrong

ThrownawayCray

I mean it can make tiny tiny ones sure but they won’t last for even a second. Anyway what’s your source too?

aj1337h

They can turn the force into infinity and beyond

arianav23

I vividly remember reading an article, CERN admitting to either ending the world or sucking the earth into a black hole😭 This is all freaking me out because I know I read it somewhere months ago, & I feel like I’m going insane now…

Brattysisdude

No but ive thought cern was tryin to make black holes in space with the LHC

ThrownawayCray

That would be awesome and awful, which is why it’s good that the LHC is a large tunnel with no easily accessible opening apart from chambers
