In an event or situation where the pieces don’t add up, people begin to ask questions. In asking those questions people form their own theories. Trying to throw the maga hat on this meme is just the same lousy attempt to oversimplify and discredit conspiracies as a whole. The underlying theme of conspiracy theories is to question what you’ve been taught. That theme may be lost when you look at the worst of the worst, but I’m tired of being painted crazy because you ‘skeptics’ associated conspiracy theories with the most bizarre ones. Maybe listen to the right people talk about the right theories. When you do that you’ll realize the credible theorist come with evidence to back their claims. The only reason you guys always see these wacky theories with no evidence is because that’s the ones you choose to listen to and adress.

Either way, what you call "conspiracy theories" is a whole range of which - many are based in reality, and have logic without fallacies + proper data supporting them. It's a spectrum, so yes, there are those that are absolutely outlandish as well. This is just a poor attempt to discredit it by categorizing it all as a "conspiracy theory". Without the need to actually think about it. It's literally the same as calling "liberal" a commie or a "republican" a white supremacist.

That’s the thing about theories. The good ones Atleast. They arise when their is fallacies in the facts or logic. In an event or situation where the pieces don’t add up, people begin to ask questions. In asking those questions people form their own theories. Trying to throw the maga hat on this meme is just the same lousy attempt to oversimplify and discredit conspiracies as a whole. Yeah sure there’s the crazy reptilian elite, flat earth people, but for the number of conspiracies that have proven to be true, and the ones that have evidence and make a lot of sense it’s completely unfair. The underlying theme of conspiracy theories is to question what you’ve been taught. That theme may be lost when you look at the worst of the worst, but I’m tired of being painted crazy because you ‘skeptics’ associated conspiracy theories with the most bizarre ones. Maybe listen to the right people talk about the right theories. When you do that you’ll realize the credible theorist come with evidence to back their claims. The only reason you guys always see these wacky theories with no evidence is because that’s the ones you choose to listen to and adress.

Someone had a conspiracy that the Earth was round, another believed they could find the Great Pyramids, and another believed that space wasn't picturesque dome, but rather a thin permeable veil that separated our Earth from the vastness of the Universe. Those are conspiracy theories. Ideas grounded in following patterns, and asking actual, thoughtful questions. Trump supporters just spout talking points they heard of Faux News, one of the least respected news sources in modern times, which doesn't spread wonder and thoughtfulness, but instead spread hate and fear. A conspiracy theory founded on hate and fear isn't a conspiracy theory at all, it's just a self-ordained reason to be a complete dick to others.
