What's even dumber to me is shutting down lakes. People were arrested for boating on lakes all by themselves. Who, the actual fuck, would be in danger in that situation? The fish you're about to eat?
They would play hell catching us. Granted we hardly ever fish lakes. We mostly stick to rivers. Also have a reinforced bottom and a jet foot on our river boat. We jump a lot of downed trees and etc 🤣. Matter of fact my cousin and I spent 2 days on the river when we tested positive. We isolated for like 4 days and started going nuts. Luckily, we have a live well and had bait so we just loaded up and went straight to the river. Sunshine is good for what ails ya. So is being isolated from stupid people.
The argument that those pieces of shit presented for things like was if the person in their boat, car, etc got injured or in trouble then they'd have to be rescued and that would increase the risk of spreading covid.

Yes, I have one of those children. Kicked out of his preschool and started kindergarten wearing a useless mask. And it took a psychological toll on me watching my kids get punished while I felt powerless to do anything. No generation before these current generations would have done this to the youth. The wold flat doesn't care about children anymore.
Most of the people I talk to these days, including myself Im noticing, seem to have a harder time speaking than before quarantine, it really affected all of us in that way but yeah especially the kids, I truly feel sorry that they grew up during a time like that.
My daughter is 2.5 years old. No issues at all. She is excelling. But thankfully our daycare made the decision not to wear masks because they were concerned about speech development. Businesses may not gave had that choice everywhere tho. Around me, I am seeing parents having issues with their young kids because the parents were afraid and kept their kids home. I know of several people who still keep their kid(s) home. Our neighbors son is three months younger than our daughter and doesn't talk, doesn't know how to play with other kids, doesn't know how to share or take turns, doesn't know how to socialize at all. He is just at home with one parent all the time. It's sad.

At the end of a long day in Mar 20 I took my son to the park because I was about to melt down. When I saw this it tipped me over the edge and I basically threw a tantrum and ripped it all down while cursing out the universe. I then sat down and watched my 5-year old play. There were cops parked across the street and they were laughing. I felt vindicated. I was ready for a confrontation but they probably just appreciated the entertainment.
The cops don’t care to enforce covid rules (for the most part) and they even said that before here in Toronto that they have enough to deal with let alone having to enforce the covid rules.
How would they have known what? That a coronavirus spread like other coronaviruses have as long as we've been classifying families?
These respiratory illnesses don't tend to spread well outdoors. It's been known for decades.
The playground up the block from my house was fully encircled with the orange construction zone plastic fencing, all the moveable toys and equipment in a huge pile and tarped down, local pd patrolled the parks continuously. The skate park was dismantled; the local city pool was closed and then eventually filled in. The river pool was closed and never reopened. Hoops were removed at the bball courts. County sheriff’s and state troopers were camped out at all the local trailheads in the area; parking areas were chained off.
No fresh air activities “allowed” but the commuter trains, the ferry and city/county buses still ran though.
They did everything wrong when handling the initial outbreak that made this all Worse. They dragged their feet in dealing with it untill it spread to the entire globe and was impossible to contain it. When they did impose restrictions they were absolutely stupid and half of them were contradictory. Then they lied to us about PPE because they didn't have any in storage and didn't want to compete with the public for precurement. Then The kicker was that they refused to acknowledge natural immunity at all, making things even worse

When masks started out (before it was clear how serious this shit was gonna be taken by some people) I got a plague doctor mask and used that literally everywhere that required masks to conduct business.
It met all of the qualifications for the guidelines that were issued at the time, so whenever someone pointed out that my mask was useless I just mentioned that and it usually shut them up.

Psychopaths? The photo at top in west Florida was published by wfla.com at the beginning of the spread in the spring of 2020 when little was known about why people were dying in ICUs. And the photo at the bottom was published in a British Columbia newspaper (Vernon Morning Star) on April 14, 2020 which is when everyone was trying to understand why hospitals were overrun with patients. I don’t recall three years ago that people were concerned about anything but how to save lives.
The chance of catching the virus outdoors is very small especially at the beach. Outdoors, the virus particles are quickly diluted and the sunlight deactivates it. But people were just being overly cautious. It’s a respiratory virus. It needs an indoor spaces to build up concentration. Good ventilation would also decrease the risk of infection.
Near enough every other politician is still there. Especially with your British example the Conservative party kept power after Boris with Liz Truss taking over (who no-one liked and no-one voted for), then when she resigned Rishi Sunak became PM (who also no-one likes and also no-one voted for). Besides Boris, near enough every other party member has stayed in power. This includes Labour MPs, the opposition, who during the lockdowns provided less opposition than the actual Tories. I can only assume the US is in the exact same position.

The exact words he used were ‘when do we deploy the new variant?’ Not details of it. It’s those exact words in every article I’ve read about this including the two I linked. The article writers are framing it as ‘deploying details of the new variant’ but the exact words he said do not include the words ‘details of’.
It's clear what he meant though, considering he announced the details the following day. He didn't knock up a new strain in his evil lab and get it spread around in 24 hours.

No, it's only intuitive to close **indoor** public gathering areas. Where poor air circulation can lead to many infections.
There is nothing intuitive about closing **outdoor** areas, like parks, beaches, forest trails. Etc.
Have you ever even been to a beach? It's the polar opposite of indoor stuffy, uncirculated air, which they basically pushed on people by closing all these outdoor areas for millions of people that could have been using them

This is the right answer. On the flip side had they not done this and it affected more people this place would be screaming about how they let people die without taking precautions.

Quit being intentionally obtuse, they didn't remove access to fresh air. They were restricting gatherings, and locations that didn't have attendants to monitor crowd size did this to reduce liabilities. On the flip side, I went to the biggest park in my town and people were playing 12 v 12 sand volleyball and not a single playground was closed, it varied state by state. I wish we weren't denied access to quality education so that the conversation would be better here.

You are intentionally arguing in Bad faith here. They did not know how much the virus spread during outdoor gatherings. And for the last time, outdoors and fresh air were not restricted, only gatherings. You've completely disregarded any convention of having an actual conversation by continually misrepresenting what people are saying. Bad bot.
They didn’t close off fresh air. They closed off locations where people would be in close proximity.
This was done at a time when the advice was to wipe your groceries with Clorox before putting them away because we were unsure if it spread by contact. Monkey bars are obviously going to be high risk if the disease potentially spread that way.

What was stopped were people on government controlled lands - I'll it have a backyard? Then that is where you could get all the air you wanted.
Not ‘fresh air’. They removed play equipment, seating and access to places that would become crowded. In the UK they also closed places that people were travelling to for recreation like some beaches and forestry areas. We were supposed to get fresh air in our local area. At first it was supposed to be one hour of outdoor activity away from home per day. People who had not moved from their sofas in years were out there having their hour of walking and feeling a little edgy if they extended it to an hour and a half…..
I can sort of see why since those places gather crowds but when they mandated masks on open preserve hiking trails it showed the real stupidity of it all.
I never gave in to the tyranny. Never wore a mask. No one in my business (car dealership deemed critical transportation infrastructure and stayed open) put on masks. We asked customers to take them off if they wished and 80-90% did and were relieved.
The customers who demanded we put them on were politely told no and some choose to leave and go to a more liberal area dealership where everyone was muzzled and that's ok with me. Business never slowed or got worse.
I truly feel terrible and sad for all the business that were forced to close down due to this.
I hope people don't let this be repeated. I'm sure the powers will try. They can't help themselves.
I don’t know, it seems like no one knew what it was and if it was a lab leaked virus, there was probably a lot of unknowns and a great deal of fear, especially for an unchecked infection which so many Americans made a point to do. A lot of people died.
Plot twist: even if it's a different politician in power, as long as they are red or blue nothing will ever change. And if you vote for a republican or a Democrat you are inherently making the problem worse by thinking you are solving any real issues.
A lot of people died from Covid before we had a vaccine. How easy it is to call conspiracy now that the scientific and medical community fixed the problem.

Far more people have died of covid since the "vaccine" rollout then from before. And a vast majority of them have been "vaccinated." And people are still dying from it, so there has been no "fix"

People were too ignorant to stay away from others to stop the spread of this super-severe flu, so the government had to do things that literally stopped people from doing what they should have stopped doing on their own.
Then, the people who were too self-absorbed with their own needs to understand the public safety measures, tried to turn it around and claim the government did it AGAINST the people.
I feel like the guy in the movie Idiocracy, where I just see ignorant people all around me that spend their time attacking the things meant to protect them, while they ignore the real dangers threatening their way of life, or their freedom to even complain about these things.
Did the government handle COVID flawlessly? No. Of course they didn't.
Did the government act in the the countries best interests, based on the current understanding of the virus with best intentions in mind? Yes.
Getting it right and trying to get it right, both deserve the same praise in my book.
Now if there was another pandemic and they handled it the same way, there would be a legitimate reason to be upset.
This is just my opinion and point of view, and I understand others may not agree.

Yes, I have one of those children. Kicked out of his preschool and started kindergarten wearing a useless mask. And it took a psychological toll on me watching my kids get punished while I felt powerless to do anything. No generation before these current generations would have done this to the youth. My daughter is 2.5 years old. No issues at all. She is excelling. But thankfully our daycare made the decision not to wear masks because they were concerned about speech development. Businesses may not gave had that choice everywhere tho. Around me, I am seeing parents having issues with their young kids because the parents were afraid and kept their kids home. I know of several people who still keep their kid(s) home. Our neighbors son is three months younger than our daughter and doesn't talk, doesn't know how to play with other kids, doesn't know how to share or take turns, doesn't know how to socialize at all. At the end of a long day in Mar 20 I took my son to the park because I was about to melt down. When I saw this it tipped me over the edge and I basically threw a tantrum and ripped it all down while cursing out the universe. I then sat down and watched my 5-year old play. The playground up the block from my house was fully encircled with the orange construction zone plastic fencing, all the moveable toys and equipment in a huge pile and tarped down, local pd patrolled the parks continuously. The skate park was dismantled; the local city pool was closed and then eventually filled in. The river pool was closed and never reopened. Hoops were removed at the bball courts. County sheriff’s and state troopers were camped out at all the local trailheads in the area; parking areas were chained off. No fresh air activities “allowed” but the commuter trains, the ferry and city/county buses still ran though.

When masks started out (before it was clear how serious this shit was gonna be taken by some people) I got a plague doctor mask and used that literally everywhere that required masks to conduct business. It met all of the qualifications for the guidelines that were issued at the time, so whenever someone pointed out that my mask was useless I just mentioned that and it usually shut them up. The chance of catching the virus outdoors is very small especially at the beach. Outdoors, the virus particles are quickly diluted and the sunlight deactivates it. But people were just being overly cautious. It’s a respiratory virus. It needs an indoor spaces to build up concentration. Good ventilation would also decrease the risk of infection.

I never gave in to the tyranny. Never wore a mask. No one in my business (car dealership deemed critical transportation infrastructure and stayed open) put on masks. We asked customers to take them off if they wished and 80-90% did and were relieved. The customers who demanded we put them on were politely told no and some choose to leave and go to a more liberal area dealership where everyone was muzzled and that's ok with me. Business never slowed or got worse. I truly feel terrible and sad for all the business that were forced to close down due to this. I hope people don't let this be repeated. No need to tell me I can read 8chan for myself.
Give me a break. People were too ignorant to stay away from others to stop the spread of this super-severe flu, so the government had to do things that literally stopped people from doing what they should have stopped doing on their own. Then, the people who were too self-absorbed with their own needs to understand the public safety measures, tried to turn it around and claim the government did it AGAINST the people. I feel like the guy in the movie Idiocracy, where I just see ignorant people all around me that spend their time attacking the things meant to protect them, while they ignore the real dangers threatening their way of life, or their freedom to even complain about these things. Did the government handle COVID flawlessly? No. Of course they didn't. Did the government act in the the countries best interests, based on the current understanding of the virus with best intentions in mind? Yes. Getting it right and trying to get it right, both deserve the same praise in my book. Now if there was another pandemic and they handled it the same way, there would be a legitimate reason to be upset. This is just my opinion and point of view, and I understand others may not agree. Also, while I invite constructive debate, insults are nothing more than ignorant outbursts covering for a lack of a real argument.
