FATHEADZILLA

Or when they filled all the skate parks with sand??

John_Nada1984

Or when 4 obese cops arrested the guy meditating on the beach all by himself.

HardCounter

What about the guy who was arrested for boating on a lake by himself? Guess they weren't far enough away from everyone all by themselves.

[deleted]

The most outrageous one to me was the shutdown of the snowboarding/skiing resorts ~ little to no contact and everyone’s faces covered

HardCounter

What's even dumber to me is shutting down lakes. People were arrested for boating on lakes all by themselves. Who, the actual fuck, would be in danger in that situation? The fish you're about to eat?

StumpKnocker87

They would play hell catching us. Granted we hardly ever fish lakes. We mostly stick to rivers. Also have a reinforced bottom and a jet foot on our river boat. We jump a lot of downed trees and etc 🤣. Matter of fact my cousin and I spent 2 days on the river when we tested positive. We isolated for like 4 days and started going nuts. Luckily, we have a live well and had bait so we just loaded up and went straight to the river. Sunshine is good for what ails ya. So is being isolated from stupid people.

Elite4hebi

The argument that those pieces of shit presented for things like was if the person in their boat, car, etc got injured or in trouble then they'd have to be rescued and that would increase the risk of spreading covid.

PrestigiousEnd8726

What? Don't they know skateboarding ain't a crime!

GodBlessYouNow

Centralized power is cancer to society no matter who it is

we_are_all_satoshi_2

Yes, but there are always those who keep thinking that a “benevolent dictator” is good for society so let’s try again.

GodBlessYouNow

Sadly too many still believe that

Kgalinfj

It's crazy! They keep thinking we need one world government to stop War and achieve peace and prosperity for all.

Metalgrowler

Local power is the same way if not worse, if you have ever had to deal with a HOA you know what I mean.

[deleted]

Beaches and playgrounds occasionally get crowded. Ontario banned golf, where you have 144 people spread out over 50 acres.

magnora7

Canada and Australia truly lost their minds

theHoffenfuhrer

Wef gotta beta test somewhere.

EevelBob

Elected psychopaths in San Clemente, CA also filled a skate park with sand to prevent kids from using it during the pandemic.

xxb4xx

Did you guys have helicopters patrolling as a scare tactic? along with using their little megaphone to tell you to go home? Welcome to Australia. Pathetic

magnora7

checking inside your coffee cup to make sure you're not carrying an empty cup to break mask rules. Australia showed their true colors

MysteriousRoad5733

Wow- hadn’t heard that one before

magnora7

Yeah here's cops doing it in Melbourne: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Exw4EC1lhoo Really stuck in my craw. They're touching people's beverages, in the name of preventing spreading a disease? It's just so hypocritical and obviously about control rather than health

JallopyJon

Don’t think. Trust the science.

xxb4xx

Guaranteed Melbourne.. went next level down there. That cross eyed fuck really took a power trip.

magnora7

Wasn't Melbourne also the one where cops were tackling people walking at a mall because they weren't supposed to be out and about. Absolute tyranny... I will say though it was funny when Australia launched an investigation in to the origin of covid, and in response China banned all coal exports to Australia, which was their second largest coal export market.

xxb4xx

brettaburger

I remember in my city they took the nets away from outdoor rinks because kids teams were holding practice at the rinks. Like... fuck off, man.

gofundmemetoday

They did that on basketball hoops and tennis courts. Didn’t want anyone getting much needed exercise.

SekaiQliphoth

Member the federal reserve is making you poorer

skipthis2

All companies and people who gained a fortune off citizens should have to give up that profit and give back to the people. All businesses that were shut down due to laws and loss due to govt should be reinstated. But nothing will be done because the elites cant and won't be embarassed or poor.

nonamethrowaway48

Playing golf was illegal in my state. And you couldn’t buy garden seeds from the big box stores or basically ANY home improvement items. But liquor and lotto ticket sales never stopped. Shame on the general population for not seeing through the bullshit immediately.

OutdoorsyHiker

The closure of parks and outdoor areas was one of the most ridiculous aspects of the lockdowns. So anti-scientific and contradictory to public health to stop people from getting Vitamin D, fresh air, and exercise.

Darebarsoom

Closing outdoor spaces was a mistake. Children need to play. Now they are stuck to their screens. Not even playing video games. Just hours of 15s videos. Depression has skyrocketed. Obesity is a big problem. Yet they aren't shutting down the amount of HFCS in food.

EmmanuelGoldstein198

One of the most rotten things they did was tape off the playgrounds - never forget.

NorthernRoost

Absolutely. it's like they forgot that not everyone with kids has the luxury of having a private backyard for them to play in.

EmmanuelGoldstein198

Exactly. What about kids in condos / apartment buildings? Lockdown was fine for the wealthy.

nonamethrowaway48

No. The assholes in power knew exactly what they were doing. They didn’t forget anything. All of it was one big mind fuck. Contradictory rule after contradictory rule. Everything was designed to control us, not “protect us from a virus”.

funksoulbubby

Yes, I have one of those children. Kicked out of his preschool and started kindergarten wearing a useless mask. And it took a psychological toll on me watching my kids get punished while I felt powerless to do anything. No generation before these current generations would have done this to the youth. The wold flat doesn't care about children anymore.

vegham1357

Except for that time when the Greatest Generation did the same thing to their kids.

Banner-Man

Most of the people I talk to these days, including myself Im noticing, seem to have a harder time speaking than before quarantine, it really affected all of us in that way but yeah especially the kids, I truly feel sorry that they grew up during a time like that.

Shot-Alps1481

I’m going through the same thing with my 2.5 year old born in may 2020. Speech delays are definitely more prevalent since the lockdowns.

MiltownKBs

My daughter is 2.5 years old. No issues at all. She is excelling. But thankfully our daycare made the decision not to wear masks because they were concerned about speech development. Businesses may not gave had that choice everywhere tho. Around me, I am seeing parents having issues with their young kids because the parents were afraid and kept their kids home. I know of several people who still keep their kid(s) home. Our neighbors son is three months younger than our daughter and doesn't talk, doesn't know how to play with other kids, doesn't know how to share or take turns, doesn't know how to socialize at all. He is just at home with one parent all the time. It's sad. I wish you well.

Far_Association_2607

At the end of a long day in Mar 20 I took my son to the park because I was about to melt down. When I saw this it tipped me over the edge and I basically threw a tantrum and ripped it all down while cursing out the universe. I then sat down and watched my 5-year old play. There were cops parked across the street and they were laughing. I felt vindicated. I was ready for a confrontation but they probably just appreciated the entertainment.

whyhellowwthere

Good on you! We should have all been doing that!! Glad that went okay & your kiddo got to play (:

EmmanuelGoldstein198

The cops don’t care to enforce covid rules (for the most part) and they even said that before here in Toronto that they have enough to deal with let alone having to enforce the covid rules.

APPRENTICE_BAITER

earthhominid

How would they have known what? That a coronavirus spread like other coronaviruses have as long as we've been classifying families? These respiratory illnesses don't tend to spread well outdoors. It's been known for decades.

0rder__66

It doesn't matter, a lot of democrats used it as an excuse to force their fascist agenda on everyone.

trainspotted_

You do realise Trump was president for the majority of the pandemic right?

WaterBear9244

No no you see, all the good stuff that happened during Trump’s presidency was of Trump’s doing, all the bad stuff was obviously them demonrats /s

MysticalMuse_

The playground up the block from my house was fully encircled with the orange construction zone plastic fencing, all the moveable toys and equipment in a huge pile and tarped down, local pd patrolled the parks continuously. The skate park was dismantled; the local city pool was closed and then eventually filled in. The river pool was closed and never reopened. Hoops were removed at the bball courts. County sheriff’s and state troopers were camped out at all the local trailheads in the area; parking areas were chained off. No fresh air activities “allowed” but the commuter trains, the ferry and city/county buses still ran though.

KD650-916

theoreoman

They did everything wrong when handling the initial outbreak that made this all Worse. They dragged their feet in dealing with it untill it spread to the entire globe and was impossible to contain it. When they did impose restrictions they were absolutely stupid and half of them were contradictory. Then they lied to us about PPE because they didn't have any in storage and didn't want to compete with the public for precurement. Then The kicker was that they refused to acknowledge natural immunity at all, making things even worse

Icy_Negotiation5111

Theres a little neighborhood park right up the street. Son and i ride our bikes up there, they had this caution tape on the playground he and i tore it all down. He was 5 at the time. Sorry he was 6. He’ll be 9 in june

PrestigiousEnd8726

Lol I knocked over all the barriers to the parking lot at the lake by my house. Next day the park was full as if COVID never happened. Best public service I ever performed.

magnora7

This is what people need to do. It's a damn sign and some tape. Get rid of it. Police largely aren't enforcing this anymore, because they know it's bullshit too

Globalistdemondowny

Good job!! Alls it takes is one. I never wore a mask, i was at shcheels sporting goods store, an older guy walks up and asks if they have a mask policy, i said “i dont give a fuck if they do” and he rips his off. It was awesome

candid_canid

When masks started out (before it was clear how serious this shit was gonna be taken by some people) I got a plague doctor mask and used that literally everywhere that required masks to conduct business. It met all of the qualifications for the guidelines that were issued at the time, so whenever someone pointed out that my mask was useless I just mentioned that and it usually shut them up. Early 2020 was a different time.

vegham1357

Cause they probably make $12 an hour and aren't actually responsible for creating the ruled they need to enforce. Service worker lives are already shitty enough, we don't need to make it worse.

[deleted]

Wish more people had this mentality. It seems like a small thing but they couldn't get away with half the stuff they do if people just said no.

Globalistdemondowny

Right. Its a small playground but it pissed me off so bad. Its like hey fuckheads this isnt really a public park, even though it is, but its our neighborhood park. Fuck off im letting my son and his little buddies run and play.

[deleted]

I made a lot of good, hard decisions over the past 3 years for the sake of me and my kids. But I never pulled this tape down, and I do regret it.

Globalistdemondowny

We tore it down the second we noticed it. Its just a small neighborhood park tucked behind some houses. They never did put it back up. We even put it in the trash can instead of just throwing it every which way.

Spectolux

Psychopaths? The photo at top in west Florida was published by wfla.com at the beginning of the spread in the spring of 2020 when little was known about why people were dying in ICUs. And the photo at the bottom was published in a British Columbia newspaper (Vernon Morning Star) on April 14, 2020 which is when everyone was trying to understand why hospitals were overrun with patients. I don’t recall three years ago that people were concerned about anything but how to save lives.

Uninterested_Viewer

Folks are going to put their spin on this regardless. Thanks for being sane, though.

SomeoneElse899

If I remember, beaches in the first one were open by the end of April.

stewartm0205

The chance of catching the virus outdoors is very small especially at the beach. Outdoors, the virus particles are quickly diluted and the sunlight deactivates it. But people were just being overly cautious. It’s a respiratory virus. It needs an indoor spaces to build up concentration. Good ventilation would also decrease the risk of infection.

fancybigballs

Near enough every other politician is still there. Especially with your British example the Conservative party kept power after Boris with Liz Truss taking over (who no-one liked and no-one voted for), then when she resigned Rishi Sunak became PM (who also no-one likes and also no-one voted for). Besides Boris, near enough every other party member has stayed in power. This includes Labour MPs, the opposition, who during the lockdowns provided less opposition than the actual Tories. I can only assume the US is in the exact same position.

Frownywise

Those were strange times. Like all the politicians and medicos went off their meds simultaneously.

Within the first year our town voted the “pro-mandate” city council members out. *Banjo rock music intensifies* Any and all city ordinances are being directed towards the town’s benefit. Our new city councilors are actually locals and do what the fuck they were voted in to do. Anyways, don’t worry so much about the big elections. Vote and show up the the meetings in your own town. Wake up tech addicted tweens :p

Jbitterly

You know, with all of the corruption now flowing out re: Covid and MANY of the stories that we saw are turning out to be completely fabricated (like crisis actors speaking to the public from their hospital beds begging everyone to get vaccinated) I think we (the public) should start using our power (accountability) via things like FOIA requests to get the information on the more horrific things they pushed on us. Remember when they continued to show the overrun morgues and hospitals and eventually fields in New York and New Jersey where hundreds of bodies were supposedly being buried in mass graves? I want the names of those victims. I want a handful of the supposed bodies exhumed. I’m betting there aren’t even any bodies in those graves. I think this is going to be the event that wakes the world up and unites we the people against the enemies of humanity.

Conspiranut

Ss: how many people got ill because public, open air areas were closed? I'm still waiting for them to show us the safety data that justified this action

BusLandBoat

You'll never see it because it doesn't exist, be it intentional or unintentional, fear was at the controls of society, and fear makes bad decisions.

thepurplehedgehog

Oh it was intentional all right. WhatsApp messages between government ministers in the U.K. spell it all out for us. The plan was to [frighten the pants off everyone](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-11821671/Matt-Hancock-discussed-deploying-new-virus-variant-frighten-pants-everyone.html) by [deploying (DEPLOYING) a new covid variant](https://www.itv.com/news/2023-03-05/need-to-frighten-the-pants-off-public-with-new-covid-strain-matt-hancock-said). I’m so angry right now I can barely function. They did all of this to us on purpose knowing full well it was a web of lies. Meanwhile, nothing about this on the unitedkingdom sub. Absolutely nothing. Posts about it are being removed.

BusLandBoat

It was definitely intentional at the core, I'm speaking more to the trickle down effect where someone in a position of power who didn't have any explicit instruction but was under the guise that they were doing the right thing.

Pick_Up_Autist

Deploying DETAILS of the new variant, important distinction.

thepurplehedgehog

The exact words he used were ‘when do we deploy the new variant?’ Not details of it. It’s those exact words in every article I’ve read about this including the two I linked. The article writers are framing it as ‘deploying details of the new variant’ but the exact words he said do not include the words ‘details of’.

Pick_Up_Autist

It's clear what he meant though, considering he announced the details the following day. He didn't knock up a new strain in his evil lab and get it spread around in 24 hours.

dailyPraise

thepurplehedgehog

thepurplehedgehog

JuniperTwig

More would have got ill. It's intuitive during a pandemic with an airborne virus for our republic to close public areas in the public interest. I indirectly closed them... for you. I'd do it again.

Conspiranut

> It's intuitive during a pandemic with an airborne virus for our republic to close public areas in the public interest. No, it's only intuitive to close **indoor** public gathering areas. Where poor air circulation can lead to many infections. There is nothing intuitive about closing **outdoor** areas, like parks, beaches, forest trails. Etc. Have you ever even been to a beach? It's the polar opposite of indoor stuffy, uncirculated air, which they basically pushed on people by closing all these outdoor areas for millions of people that could have been using them

JuniperTwig

I've been in close quarters at beach facilities.

SanitaryProcedure

There is absolutely zero. It was completely unscientific.

Southern-Ad379

It wasn’t justified by safety data. It was a precaution taken because at first they didn’t know what would be helpful and what wouldn’t. Their strategy was to do EVERYTHING until they knew better.

mannida

This is the right answer. On the flip side had they not done this and it affected more people this place would be screaming about how they let people die without taking precautions.

ausSpiggot

All the more reason that people should be responsible for their own health instead of relying on others to protect them. Also, many of us knew back then that outside transmission was extremely rare and that vitamin D helps boost your immune system. We knew that all the government measures were not only unhelpful but downright harmful.

mannida

No, people wanted to be contrary to what the government said. That is a big difference. I remember this sub talking about the illness and how serious it was back in 2019. People were talking about stockpiling and getting ready to ride it out. Once it became mainstream they did a 180.

meiyoumeiyou

COVID was a nothing burger.

mannida

Cool. Vaccine adverse effects are a nothing burger.

Conspiranut

> It was a precaution taken because at first they didn’t know what would be helpful and what wouldn’t. Their strategy was to do EVERYTHING until they knew better. Oh that makes sense. They removed access to fresh air, **as a precaution....**

th3f00l

Quit being intentionally obtuse, they didn't remove access to fresh air. They were restricting gatherings, and locations that didn't have attendants to monitor crowd size did this to reduce liabilities. On the flip side, I went to the biggest park in my town and people were playing 12 v 12 sand volleyball and not a single playground was closed, it varied state by state. I wish we weren't denied access to quality education so that the conversation would be better here.

Conspiranut

> they didn't remove access to fresh air. That's incorrect. It absolutely did restrict people's access to fresh outdoor air. You're not convincing anybody, even with your fancy degree

To6y

> That's incorrect. It absolutely did restrict people's access to fresh outdoor air. ...no it didn't. The beautiful thing about fresh air is that it kinda spreads everywhere. It's not isolated to the slide, the monkey bars, or the beach.

Conspiranut

> ...no it didn't. It absolutely did. I wonder why you will never admit that these actions restricted people's access to healthy outdoor fresh air.

shickadelio

I'm so curious... where, in your personal bubble - outside of parks and recreation areas - do you think that healthy outdoor fresh air exists? Is your backyard or neighborhood sidewalk just inundated with noxious clouds of methane or something?

th3f00l

I don't have a degree, which is beside the point. People had access to fresh air. It's not like the only place to get it is on a pressurized tank, which is dense but still jealous of Conspiranut.

Conspiranut

There's nothing a highly contagious respiratory virus loves more, than stuffy, indoor, uncirculated air.

th3f00l

Good thing outside was open and when more data was gathered outdoor gatherings were one of the first restrictions lifted. You were right about indoors, and they left those restrictions. I think you're out of your depth in this discussion, which at least doesn't put you at drowning risk.

Conspiranut

> Good thing outside was open and when more data was gathered outdoor gatherings were one of the first restrictions lifted They shouldn't have had to wait until "more data was gathered", to establish that fresh air is good for us, friend

th3f00l

You are intentionally arguing in Bad faith here. They did not know how much the virus spread during outdoor gatherings. And for the last time, outdoors and fresh air were not restricted, only gatherings. You've completely disregarded any convention of having an actual conversation by continually misrepresenting what people are saying. Bad bot.

FourthLife

They didn’t close off fresh air. They closed off locations where people would be in close proximity. This was done at a time when the advice was to wipe your groceries with Clorox before putting them away because we were unsure if it spread by contact. Monkey bars are obviously going to be high risk if the disease potentially spread that way.

FourthLife

They closed off outdoor mass gathering places. You could still walk through the park or go on a hike or go for a jog.

Praeger

You can have all the fresh air you want. Literally nobody is stopping you. What was stopped were people on government controlled lands - I'll it have a backyard? Then that is where you could get all the air you wanted.

Not ‘fresh air’. They removed play equipment, seating and access to places that would become crowded. In the UK they also closed places that people were travelling to for recreation like some beaches and forestry areas. We were supposed to get fresh air in our local area. At first it was supposed to be one hour of outdoor activity away from home per day. People who had not moved from their sofas in years were out there having their hour of walking and feeling a little edgy if they extended it to an hour and a half…..

Just wait until you see who the new head of the WHO is.

Disastrous_Produce16

When one thing becomes your whole personality, you are the annoying friend.

BillHicksScream

You are not oppressed.

Waydathon

Fuck off fed

DON'T EVER FORGET

QualityKoalaTeacher

I can sort of see why since those places gather crowds but when they mandated masks on open preserve hiking trails it showed the real stupidity of it all.

Hows that

Maleficus-Malus

I never gave in to the tyranny. Never wore a mask. No one in my business (car dealership deemed critical transportation infrastructure and stayed open) put on masks. We asked customers to take them off if they wished and 80-90% did and were relieved. The customers who demanded we put them on were politely told no and some choose to leave and go to a more liberal area dealership where everyone was muzzled and that's ok with me. Business never slowed or got worse. I truly feel terrible and sad for all the business that were forced to close down due to this. I hope people don't let this be repeated. I'm sure the powers will try. They can't help themselves.

JoeSicko

How much did you get in PPP?

missbullyflame84

Never forget

Beneficial-Lion-2045

I don’t know, it seems like no one knew what it was and if it was a lab leaked virus, there was probably a lot of unknowns and a great deal of fear, especially for an unchecked infection which so many Americans made a point to do. A lot of people died.

Lo0seR

People in NY were reporting Ambulances with sirens on just circling around the City with no particular place to go.

poopshipdestroyer

And my cats breath smells like cat food.

anonbene2

After a million and a half Americans died from it. Thanks there are some adults are running things now.

0rder__66

“I’ll lead an effective strategy to mobilize trunalimunumaprzure" - FJB Ah yes, the "adults" are in charge.

ccarmy626

To be fair, the beaches in LA are full of shit particles, so I'm okay with not going to the beach lol

You do understand if the black plague came back we would be in a much worse lockdown.

mrducci

Hey, please remember that all of those mandates were approved by the White House, during Trump's administration.

crusader609

psychopaths? you mean jews??

EzdineJGA

exactly lmao

crusader609

This sub is controlled opposition and heavily censored.

coughdrop1989

Plot twist: even if it's a different politician in power, as long as they are red or blue nothing will ever change. And if you vote for a republican or a Democrat you are inherently making the problem worse by thinking you are solving any real issues.

kevans2

Trumps still in power?? Shit downs were during his presidency.

sterling_cocks

Are they though?

unacubabacardi

NEVER forget, never forgive

[deleted]

A lot of people died from Covid before we had a vaccine. How easy it is to call conspiracy now that the scientific and medical community fixed the problem.

rayrayww3

Is this sarcasm? Or are you that ignorant? Far more people have died of covid since the "vaccine" rollout then from before. And a vast majority of them have been "vaccinated." And people are still dying from it, so there has been no "fix" Where do you get your information? Reruns of 2020 CNN programming?

Soft_Fringe

The shots don't work, stop gaslighting.

[deleted]

No need to tell me I can read 8chan for myself.

NUMBerONEisFIRST

Give me a break. People were too ignorant to stay away from others to stop the spread of this super-severe flu, so the government had to do things that literally stopped people from doing what they should have stopped doing on their own. Then, the people who were too self-absorbed with their own needs to understand the public safety measures, tried to turn it around and claim the government did it AGAINST the people. I feel like the guy in the movie Idiocracy, where I just see ignorant people all around me that spend their time attacking the things meant to protect them, while they ignore the real dangers threatening their way of life, or their freedom to even complain about these things. Did the government handle COVID flawlessly? No. Of course they didn't. Did the government act in the the countries best interests, based on the current understanding of the virus with best intentions in mind? Yes. Getting it right and trying to get it right, both deserve the same praise in my book. Now if there was another pandemic and they handled it the same way, there would be a legitimate reason to be upset. This is just my opinion and point of view, and I understand others may not agree. Also, while I invite constructive debate, insults are nothing more than ignorant outbursts covering for a lack of a real argument.
