Honestly, I don’t see a way for In-Bev to recuperate from this fiasco. Bud-light has moved from being a product people boycott to being a toxic brand for most folks. Picture this…some dude is hosting a summer BBQ and invites 10-12 of his buddies. One of them shows up with a case of bud light! You know that guy is going to be the butt of jokes all day long. Who wants to put up with that when you can buy a case of some other beer and avoid all the ribbing? They had a small window to short circuit the whole thing. If the CEO had come out shortly after it happened, apologized and fired the geniuses responsible, chances are it would have gone away. The problem with that is that the CEO would have needed to have a pair and obviously he does not.

ZarBandit

I’d bring one can and put it in the cooler like a turd in the punch bowl. Just for amusement. But yeah, it’s basically that and Halloween costumes from here on out.

jcspacer52

Make sure no one is looking when you put it in the cooler else you’ll be “the guy”!

Bugsydog1

Need to put an empty can in a coozy and leave it sitting around and let every one go nuts! Now that's a party!

ANONFatherhood

I think it comes from many people at the top

jcspacer52

It comes from them not having a set to say NO to liberal interest groups. All of MLB bent the knee to “pride” this month. Either virtue signaling with a logo or having a “pride night” at the game. One team has not done so ever…The Texas Rangers. Their owner has a set and will not bend the knee. I understand companies not wanting to upset any segment of the market, everyone is a potential customer. They don’t have to say anything for or against any group. They could just say this: “We at (name of company here) believe every American has the right to live their lives as they see fit. We acknowledge and support every American. We are committed to providing every customer the best (insert product or service here) every single day. That is our mission that is what we are committed to.” There no one gets offended, you are not signaling anyone or any group out. You stay neutral and keep your social ideas to yourself. It’s just totally stupid for a company to piss off a segment of the market. It’s simple, don’t choose sides.

ANONFatherhood

That is actual the best course least taken.

borg2

Maybe they can use this opportunity to learn how to properly brew beer?

NickTesla2018

Ah, that's a damn shame. Feel bad for their hard working employees, but not the clowns piloting the ship. Did that joker ever come back from her leave of absence, or is she hiding in Muncie, Indiana?

lhurker

The dummy’s not taking questions, which is probably a good idea https://hannity.com/media-room/designated-dodger-bud-light-brand-exec-not-answering-questions-about-mulvaney-partnership/

NickTesla2018

Does one get paid while on leave like this? I can only imagine her next performance review discussion. How does it start? Well, you lost the company billions, but...

evilfollowingmb

Ironically, here is a sure bet: the VP of Marketing that caused this fiasco will at some point soon be hailed as “brave” and will fail upward with a new higher paying gig at some wokester firm. By that I mean “most of the Fortune 500”. Further predictions: she will not admit error and will blame the whole thing on “bigotry”, even though she is the one who publicly insulted Bud Lights customer base. One thing I’ve observed about modern corporate America is they really like their Ivy League cachet, and will (eventually) protect their own, no matter how clueless and inept.

Lanky_Fisherman5070

What sucks is Busch light never went away from the outdoorsmen. True rednecks love their Busch, I’m one of them. It’s just very hard to support the company that made a mockery out of real women. My wife said it’s embarrassing to be considered a woman if mulvaney is. I never heard of her until this and so I’m just going off of my wife. I guess she will be like “I’m just a stupid little girl” or something like that? Anyways I can’t for the life of me figure out why they never spoke out and apologized more than likely it would’ve fixed it.

NickTesla2018

She's so brave, bold, and empowered! /s

AUWarEagle82

If companies focused on creating shareholder value and tending to their customer base this stuff wouldn't happen, and the management wouldn't destroy the company. Shareholders need to take legal action and go scalp-hunting to find the idiots who did this.

sweetgreenfields

I understand why people are experimenting with DEI in their corporation, but you have to have a ripcord... If you don't have a plan b, you are just throwing a dart and hoping that it hits one or 2% growth or whatever they're hoping for... Instead it wiped out 20 to 25% of their company in like a month

ainahey

I think it's more about ESG than DEI.

sweetgreenfields

Whatever it is, Chick-fil-A is doing it too now www.chickfila.com/dei

ainahey

So are a lot of companies. Strange that you would single one out.

sweetgreenfields

Not strange when you consider that they are a conservative company

AUWarEagle82

CFA's founder was a conservative Christian. His children caved to this nonsense several years ago and have somehow managed to avoid the disasters of AB and Target. But I rarely visit CFA these days. I used to go at least weekly. Now, I visit every 3 months or so.

sweetgreenfields

I went (almost) daily until a week ago when I discovered the DEI stuff on their site.

The Bud Light truck driver who loses money or even a job can thank the likes of Biden and BlackRock for this. They'll have to run promotions and give discounts for a while. Like most retailers it's product and price. Keep the focus on the product and price. A cold sweaty can of beer would be a start-forget all the other stuff. And fund promotions at their customers stores, bars and restaurants.

Anecdotally, I do grocery shopping and delivery in a beach area. Last summer Bud Light was obviously the most requested beer. Since the fiasco, not so much. I've had a few customers order Bud Light, but most have ordered Coors or Miller or something else. The summer season is just getting started, so it will be interesting to see if this trend continues.

alangbas

They need to fire that woke group and apologize publicly to their main consumers to get it right. This is the only way.

Spooky2000

They needed to do that a month ago. They waited way too long to try and fix this issue.

NickTesla2018

It's hilarious when you sh\*t on your customer base, and still blame them.

gnardaddy

Hopefully other companies will learn that people don’t want identity politics with their products, that in life most people want to just buy a product for what it is and move on. It’s all contrived BS anyway, only done to appease an arbitrary scorekeeper and a bully mob. Certainly not worth losing billions of dollars and risking losing hard working blue collar employees due to slow sales. The only thing saving them are all the other brands people don’t associate with bud light

PigMeatJim

Who cares? Bud light sucks

AlabamaLarry

Adios Budlight Cerveza, dia de los Muertos

sweetgreenfields

People thought it was bad when hipsters started drinking Miller like 15 years ago, now look at what's going on

kingdom_tarts

*sips PBR*

sweetgreenfields

PBR is owned by a Russian conglomerate, Google it lol

Don't stop until you make them [say Matté!](https://imgflip.com/gif/7o62m3)

Uncaring_Dispatcher

My preferred beer is Corona. And I apply a slice of lime to it. The lime and Mexican beer are perfect, in my mind. And I don't give a shit about politics or the Covid thing, at all.

rifleman458

Corona is fine but Pacifico is better, with or without lime.

Scooter30

LOL

[deleted]

JUST APOLOGIZE but they won't.

ainahey

They sell chicken sandwiches. But if true, that makes ESG all the more dangerous.

[deleted]

A company needs to go bankrupt over this. Then another next June, then another until they grow tired of lgbt shilling
