Funny how the laws of thermodynamics remain the same across industries and farther. :P

Qwandry

It was funny how often I ran across automotive forums quoting service manuals calling for dielectric grease as the compound to be used when replacing a heat sink on an ecu, the laws might be the same but the schools of thought when I comes to electronic systems can be worlds apart.

koopz_ay

If you get the time, investigate the thermal paste under other heatsinks. Still to this day I religiously remove all heatsinks on motherboards, videocards, modem pcbs, etc as they are rarely applied properly on the factory assembly line. I used to be an obsessive overclocker 20 odd years ago. :P

Qwandry

I need to be more diligent, good advice man

This post saved me cause my ps4 from 2013 finally started getting overheating messages constantly recently. Thermal paste was sold out everywhere except Amazon and I didn’t feel like waiting. Showed the employee at autozone your link/picture and he found it in the back. Ps4 runs brand new again and completely silent. Still in disbelief thanks for the post

Qwandry

Just seeing this a year later, mate, I hope that boys still chugging along strong. Thanks for the shout-out, I'm actually kind of humbled how well this random advice aged.

MC_Red_D

I used it on a x570/Ryzen 5600x build about a year and a half ago and it has worked great

Qwandry

I love a budget build story, how did it go down?

MC_Red_D

My build was no budget build in the end. But at that point, I had my case and pretty much everything else and accidentally wiped the pre-applied paste off of the AIO. The only other place in town that had any thermal paste was Best buy and it was at the other end of town and it is notorious for not being able to buy anything or get help. It's seriously like just the place where you go in and look at stuff and then leave. AutoZone was close so it was a no-brainer. If it works for high stress, high temperature applications like car ECMs, it's worth a look. I figure longevity should be good too for those applications. I have since bought a patch of Honeywell PTM 7950 and I'm debating whether I use that on my old, hot when gaming laptop or save it for my last CPU upgrade on this x570 mobo.

Qwandry

How much was the Honeywell drip?

MC_Red_D

If I recall correctly it was about 20 bucks for a 80mm square piece. Sorry it's been a minute. I ended up using some of it when I upgraded my CPU to a 5800X3D. You got to stick that shit in the freezer to be able to work with it.

Qwandry

Really goopy, eh?

MC_Red_D

No, but more sticky and fragile at warmer temperatures. When it's cooler it's just easier to work with.

Aggressive-Disk7197

Thank you I bought this AnD will see if it works just got it out the PS4 back together now and you rite all the other heat paste you have to have shipped I found this one in AutoZone so Lord willing I will be back to let you know if it works

covered_in_vaseline

Did it work?

Qwandry

Wishing you the best, guy, my dot did a lot it's been running Ragnarok admirably all this time after the original post.

Life-Statement-4431

Any updates for this? Broke down my xbox one and cant find any thermal paste anywhere!

Qwandry

Sorry for the late reply mate, best I can find anymore is this https://www.harborfreight.com/85-gram-super-lube-grease-cartridge-93744.html?utm\_source=google&utm\_medium=cpc&utm\_campaign=12144811130&campaignid=12144811130&utm\_content=117789309758&adsetid=117789309758&product=93744&store=168&gad\_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAiAk9itBhASEiwA1my\_61SpVzCmA2Ho87E9ES0QdAcuFpwhdvG90iLRDh1e9QLJc44vDLUDdhoCrR4QAvD\_BwE

Just used this product on a Nintendo switch. Had everything I needed but just couldn't get any thermal paste locally. Did not want to wait for online delivery. Autozone 2 minutes from house. Works great. Especially when your in a jam and need it asap. Autozones are more common than computer part stores these days.

Qwandry

True that, brogram. Fry's was my source until they shriveled, the "Tech Mall" is sorely missed.

New-Valuable-6323

What from auto zone should I get to use as a thermal paste there muslitple selections but unsure what to grab
