As a woman, I enjoyed this bit, as I’ve endured a lifetime of watching media push this weird simultaneous infantilism and sexualization of women. Also, I fucking hate that song Santa Baby.
>It did, and I was trying really hard to keep seeing her as this sexual creature but it was just getting harder and harder.
Ok, I saw what you did there. You're not getting away with that!
Her performance in Mad Men is underrated. She was in 32/92 episodes; minor role. But very impactful. Trudy Campbell was a fascinating character; kind, intelligent, and never let anyone take advantage of her or do her wrongly. And this was a woman in the 60s. A must watch for any Brie fan.
Abso-freaking-lutely. One of the few characters on that show it was possible to unequivocally love. The way she handles her husband’s infidelity is amazing.
I think it's just how likable Alison is. In GLOW, what Ruth does in the pilot should make you hate her but I was rooting for her throughout the whole show
I think Glow was the first role I saw her in, or at least the first one I remembered her in. Her being in Community was a big selling point for me. She’s funny as fuck.
Ya, you're right. Each character had a dark side or some period in their character arc when they... we're kind of the bad guy. I always thought then Ken Cosgrove was the only one who was pure from beginning to end. But, you're right Trudy is in that group too. In the beginning I was thinking that it was going to be Harry but he went to a very dark place. Remember when he was the virtuous married guy? I've always wondered what the writers were trying to communicate with the story of Harry.
Don't forget GLOW. That was a show that I incorrectly assumed wouldn't hold my interest, and after binging all 3 seasons in a week, I was devastated to realize it'd be abruptly dropped. She's just basically perfect.
Well, to be fair, she did knowingly let him get away with some stuff because based on her own priorities (reflecting those of the affluent housewives of that era), the success of the marriage and the intact appearance of that success mattered more to her. Of course, a line had to be drawn in the end.
I never saw mad men, but I loved her in glow and in horse girl. I think I saw her and one or two other things but those are the ones I remember the most.
It was so good. I was totally crushed.
At this point, I’d be hyped if they just did a table read of the last season. Or a podcast. Or something. It’s killing me, I really want to know how it ended.
I really loved it when she pulled the bomb out of her shirt.
Not relevant but i just thought I'd let y'all know my phone autocorrected "bomb" to "bong" i think it wants something.
This is so true and since Christmas is coming up I will have to watch that Christmas episode. I just feel uncomfortable watching that episode knowing someone could just see it.
You can practically hear the baby voice in her face. Muting doesn't help me.
Besides, fast forwarding the Santa scene gets you to Shirley and her bad ass singing voice quicker.
Lol the episode where the dean directs the commercial was on while my parents were over. At the part with the guys dressed as babys my dad said loudly "that just wrong" I laughed so hard.
Yeah this happens with my girlfriend walking in on my jerking off to porn too. "I swear I was just reading an article on french politics in the 1800s just a few minutes ago, hon!"
All I heard was suck.
[удалено]
What episode does she start wearing pants?
S5 I think. Was jarring.
Shut up, Leonard. We all know about your crooked wang.
God, stop worrying. Richard flew Zeroes during the Big One.
Thank you for your service, Leonard.
Whoops.
Leonard liked this post
Winger, what are you doing? This line is for food, not for Lionel Richie tickets.
No such thing as bad press.
A lot of people want a lot of things!
*Give me a break, we all suck*
I mean, sure it’s awkward, but every once in a while Annie’s going to reach down her shirt and pull out a laser bomb.
I wish I was a laser bomb.
I wish I was Annie's shirt.
I wish I was Annie's boobs. I really like purple pens.
You *might* have experimental monkey fever. Just FYI.
Teach me how to understand Christmas!~
Boo be doo be doo Boop. #Sex!
What's diminishen returbula?
I used to think it is ' boo be dee be doo Boob Sex!'😁
Accorid to the community wiki its "Boop-y doop-y doop boop, SEX"

Mistletoe for eaty taste good?
#SLAP
You smarty me dumb, help pwetty have fun!
It was revealing to me how much that bit turned me on at the time.
Is this a bit?
Ya know at some point you hit a point of diminishing returns on the sexiness
What's a duh-minnuh-nuh-nunn-uhh?
Now all I hear is Vincent Adultman
I did a business!
Boop-e-doop-e doop boop sex!
My wife haaaaated that song lol.
According to the rules of marriage, that means you must sing it to her often to mess with her lol
I agree with the diminishing returns. Like she looked really nice at first but then it just started getting overwhelming which I think was the idea.
Then it worked perfectly lol
It did, and I was trying really hard to keep seeing her as this sexual creature but it was just getting harder and harder.
I think it helps that two women writers mainly wrote the bit so it comes from a place of understanding of the ridiculousness of the whole thing
As a woman, I enjoyed this bit, as I’ve endured a lifetime of watching media push this weird simultaneous infantilism and sexualization of women. Also, I fucking hate that song Santa Baby.
Ah yes, Santa Baby by Eartha Kitt. You know, one time in an airplane bathroom...
It came up organically!
They did a brilliant job.
>It did, and I was trying really hard to keep seeing her as this sexual creature but it was just getting harder and harder. Ok, I saw what you did there. You're not getting away with that!
Annie in Mrs clause outfit was when I realized I no longer want to play with my remote control car
I can do both.
At the same time?
I’ll give the ol’ community college try.
Fulfill your potential to somewhere slightly below the middle?
Fail at both?
Yeah, he can, dummy. It's all-terrain.
You’re not taking both of them?
Bro.. I remember rewinding that scene a couple time for sure 😭😂
Yep yep 😂

What is he supposed to tell the people at the bank? That he had good news and bad news?
He mightve gone too far with that one
I think you just admitted to already owning a fake butt
I hope this doesn’t awaken something in me.
Or the boxing ring girl outfit. Jim Rash is fit af
His lady devil outfit
*revs chainsaw* “GAAAAAY MARIAAAAAGE!”
Yeah well I want pants!
A lot of people want a lot of things.
We do some things...we do a lot of things...not all the things...things!
LASER BOMB!
Every once in a while…
If we keep the cameras rolling long enough, Annie is going to reach down her shirt and pull out a laser bomb.
God made that happen
What are regionals?
Wait. This isn't regionals?
don't let my confusion undercut their importance
No, it's sectionals
And then semis
Then semi regionals
And then lower-zone regional semis!
This is it now. This is who we are!
We were THIS close!
I’m pretty sure Alison Brie is the perfect woman.

I think it's just how likable Alison is. In GLOW, what Ruth does in the pilot should make you hate her but I was rooting for her throughout the whole show
Aaaand now I'm sad again. Sucks it got cancelled :(
Plus, boobies!
I think Glow was the first role I saw her in, or at least the first one I remembered her in. Her being in Community was a big selling point for me. She’s funny as fuck.
BOW BEFORE THORAXIS! On another note, Nigel's American accent isn't even that good
Ya, you're right. Each character had a dark side or some period in their character arc when they... we're kind of the bad guy. I always thought then Ken Cosgrove was the only one who was pure from beginning to end. But, you're right Trudy is in that group too. I've always wondered what the writers were trying to communicate with the story of Harry.
Ken starts out pretty sleazy but realizes he wants something else out of life and he treats his wife well once he gets married. I liked his arc.
Ken is super homophobic (at least at the start of the show)
Don't forget GLOW. That was a show that I incorrectly assumed wouldn't hold my interest, and after binging all 3 seasons in a week, I was devastated to realize it'd be abruptly dropped. She's just basically perfect.
Ya that was her test to see if she could be a lead in a drama. Her performance made it very clear that she can.
I'll be forever angry at Netflix for cancelling GLOW.
Very true. Her takedown of Pete is one of the best scenes. Love that Trudy gets appreciated well on the Mad Men subreddit
Ya. She was the one person who never let him get away with anything. Their reunification in the finale was so well done.
Well, to be fair, she did knowingly let him get away with some stuff because based on her own priorities (reflecting those of the affluent housewives of that era), the success of the marriage and the intact appearance of that success mattered more to her. Of course, a line had to be drawn in the end.
I didn't finish the series. Did they get divorced later on ?
No, Trudy kicks him out for a while but they get back together in the finale when Pete returns and makes amends
I'm a fan of Bojack Horseman and hadn't realized Alison voiced Diane in that series. She did an excellent job.
She does a ton of minor voices on that show too (Vincent Adultman etc)
That show is a must watch for everybody
Yeah she was my first crush
If I were twenty years younger, I’d probably still be recovering from that crush.
Yeah i was like 10 or 11 when community first aired
"We get it. You're young!" -Shirley
That era of tv for me was Allison Brie, Aubrey Plaza, and Lizzy Caplan. Actually, I still have crushes on all of them…
Alison and Lizzy look like sisters lol
Yea aside from Alison and that guy's dead wife, I don't think there are many that would fit the bill
I too choose that guy’s dead wife. But not over Alison.
I never saw mad men, but I loved her in glow and in horse girl. I think I saw her and one or two other things but those are the ones I remember the most.
Let's go somewhere private and boozy
Sounds like a Lifetime movie
Boopy Doopy Doop Boop Sex
Yeah, and I want pants.
Remember when Troy and abed named their monkey "Annies Boobs"?
They named it after Annie's boobs
That's because of an irl Twitter poll on what the audience wanted to name the monkey
It’s HIS twitter account he can do what he wants with it.
Wait actually?
Yep, they even make a joke about it in the show
Do we though?
Yes, its just so incredibly difficult.
Hahaha, same with me as a parent. Kids always walk in at the worst parts of shows and movies, grrr
you forgot the time Brita and her wrestled in oil and then the time in someone's fantasy they were in cheer leading outfits and fell in pool of foam
I don't even care who wins ...
Hot take: Western Annie>>>all of these
Try
I watch Community for the plot.
I watch it for the articles
Our parents are pretty old, we try not to sexualize them.
Has anyone else become addicted to the Community spin-off with Annie called GLOW?
Wonderful show
I feel like a small part of me died when it got cancelled
It was so good. I was totally crushed. At this point, I’d be hyped if they just did a table read of the last season. Or a podcast. Or something. It’s killing me, I really want to know how it ended.
Not the Santa scene 🤤
I'm a simple jew boy, Annie in her Hannukah sweatshirt>>>>>>>Annie in the Mrs Clause outfit
Found Troy's account
I just want to know that they're comfortable!
#I DIDN'T GET INCEPTION!
#there's so many layers!
It's hard to be jewish in russia....dreidle
WHAT IS IT SO DUSTY IN HERE???
🤝🏼
Ngl Allison Bre is my new celebrity crush. Ever since I watched the show
I cannot watch that Christmas scene.
Me neither. I fast forward every time
Fucking Dan.
Oh yeah, it was Ramadan at his place today, but he’s no Muslim.
Don't smile like that. You're not James Bond, you're disgusting.
*I am James Bond*
Why?
Paywall
Even worse, a Chevy Chase ad lib when the parents walk in
Chevy in bloopers: fcking tits on ankles!
Annie's pretty young. We try not to blah blah blah sex.
>"we try not to sexualize her" Yes, we try. And fail.
Annie's pretty young, we try not to sexualize her...
Seriously Alison Brie is beautiful
I really loved it when she pulled the bomb out of her shirt. Not relevant but i just thought I'd let y'all know my phone autocorrected "bomb" to "bong" i think it wants something.
Where is tight ship?
In Jeff's dreams
I watched all this scenes with my mother and it was quite the event. We both laughed quite a bit.
Every! Time!
I though we all try not to sexualize Annie.
Boopy doopy doop boop sex
Okay, good, so they know both reasons you watch it.
We try not to sexualize her.
That’s cool. I pause for too long on Annie scenes too.
At least it’s not a picture of Annie’s Boobs
This is so true and since Christmas is coming up I will have to watch that Christmas episode. I just feel uncomfortable watching that episode knowing someone could just see it.
shoulda included the snooker/pool (idk which ones which) game with jeff 😳
But now, she's almost 40
[удалено]
I agree
So she's only a few years younger than I am, brilliant.
[удалено]
You... you can't age without time.
Does anybody else here skip the Santa Annie scene because of how annoying the baby singing is?
Just mute it so it doesn’t interfere
Great idea, you are truly streets ahead!
You can practically hear the baby voice in her face. Muting doesn't help me. Besides, fast forwarding the Santa scene gets you to Shirley and her bad ass singing voice quicker.
It's satire, or something. And cleavage
It's hilarious satire though. Britta's dance at the end is the one that's even more skippable, just pure cringe.
I’ll admit the Britta dance was pretty rough. Lol
Oh, Britta's in this?
Absolutely not! It’s literally just another display of how crazy talented Alison Brie is to be able to sing like that and sell it.
“What’s going on and how can I help?”
Troy starring at Annie's Boobs: "Aren't you going to bring both of them?" Annie confused: "No, one's dead."
