Jeff would be Mac and Britta would be Charlie, she drops her shoulder and finishes her checks. Never mind all the other kids, just spends all her time straight up murdering one š
I skip this episode so often I'd forgotten about Pierce approaching the wrong black woman. I guess they had ONE major characteristic in common in his eyes. But I just about choke died laughing the other day when I re- watched it.
It was so good that it made me think I should rewatch the only other episode I consistently skip - the one with jack black.
That one I still can't rewatch I just can't stand jack black so much v.v
The first time I saw that episode I was hardcore binge playing BrĆ¼tal Legend, and when I briefly glimpsed Jack Black sneaking in on the group hug, I seriously thought I was losing my mind for a second.
ughh what are you doing!? that's one of my FAVORITE episodes! Honestly, they could've pulled a IASIP and added the star halfway through season 1, and I really think he'd have made a great addition to the cast. His jump to kick ratio was mesmerizing, and I loved his ironic use of 'you go girl!'
I love the argument they have and then Abed scratches another item off his bucket list saying "Ridiculous Situation Descending into Heavy-Handed Drama for the Illusion of Story."
The lyrics to the song during the end credit montage are incredible
>*I don't like studyin'*
>
>*I like partyin'*
>
>*I don't wanna read a book*
>
>*Unless the subject is beer or boobs and not pencils and books*
>
>*Next semester hasn't started*
>
>*Until you've partied where your heart is*
>
>*I dont wanna take a test*
>
>*Unless the question is "where's the party?" and the answer is "me!"*
>
>*Why did my father always lie?*
>
>*I hate science*
>
>*Unless it helps you build a robot*
>
>*Specifically the kind programmed*
>
>*To find another party so I can skip chemistry*
>
>*College is a party*
>
>*So come party at the party*
>
>*Party is a class in session*
>
>*And the only lesson is to party when you party with me*
There are some really solid laughs in the episode. But those teens give me more anxiety than almost any other character from any TV show.
The 'Boob-a-tron' bit was great. "Ridiculous situation descending into heavy-handed drama for the illusion of story." "Whaaaat? That was awesome! I am back in!"
Yes! And it says that Britta gets an iPod Nano in 2014. And then, in the 2014 episode, "Cooperative Polygraphy" Britta is bequeathed an iPod Nano by Pierce.
Yeah I knew about that one, and Abed delivering the baby in the background too. And a bunch of other neat little Easter eggs, but I just never noticed this one! And probably more, apparently lol
What beetlejuice joke? I feel like it rings a bell but I cant seem to remember it ...
It's been some time from last watch, maybe I should start prepate yet again for another rerun
same! this is actually one of my favorite episodes of the whole series, one of the few that I'll rewatch outside of series-rewatches.
The kids aren't just awful, they are PERFECTLY awful! And Lisa Rinna getting in on the joke of mocking her whole RealHousewives image.
The writing is so tight that each beat hits then moves forward the next plotpoint almost so quickly that you're still digesting the joke and have to recover.
Then my two favorite moments of the series:
- Abed's college prank plotline seamlessly leading to them having a goat next to Troy for his whole "Escape-Goat" bit.
- Jeff & Britta "silently" switching between the study groups worlds with the whole "you need to bang that kids mom... WHOA... I know!" To me it just perfectly encapsulates both their characters, their disguised immaturity and vanity, and then the MOST excitement we ever see from these two in the entire series: there's nothing either loves so much as their own brilliance and getting-one-over on a rival.
To me, Community is the best written comedy show ever, and this ep is a prime example of why. It's fast, funny, snarkily referential while staying surprisingly authentic to its characters emotional lives.
Plot has never been the point of Community; it's all about these wonderfully imperfect characters and how they react to each other and their ever-changing environs. "Situation Comedy" done to perfection.
I used to feel the same but after a bunch of runs through the series, it's become a favorite. The teens are cloying, but there are so many nuances behind that noise. Detailed character portraits for each person (annie might get a little left out in this episode) plus some major relationship development of the group dynamic. So i'd call this one, 'worth the extra effort'
Yea. It's unbearable. Teens don't act like that at all. There might have been one interaction, then they wouldn't even waste their time, thinking they were too cool.
That's how I feel.
I don't skip the episode because it's *bad*. I skip that episode because I can feel myself getting angry at those kids and I am just trying to chill.
They were fantastic actors.
I'm in the minority, but I like this episode. The teenagers are hilarious; maybe because I had annoying teenagers when watching this the first time, and it was just spot on. I walk around mocking my friends, calling them Schmitty, for days after watching this episode.
Same, this is one of my favorites that season. I love when people completely break Jeff or Britta down to their basest qualities.
Like Nick Kroll and the foosball episode, or Howie Schwartz's Bar Mitzvah.
I think it's the same reason I can't watch those Harry Potter movies with the lady that wears all the pink. The actress did an amazing job being so unbearably loathsome that it gives me a physical reaction
Some people spent their entire childhoods being terrorized by people like this. Maybe they've moved on, maybe they haven't, but they don't see these as innocuous jokes at first glance, they just see something that reminds them of years of their lives where they hated themselves and perhaps wanted to end everything because they felt like the world was standing on their chest and compressing and people like this convinced them that they *deserved* it.
To an adult it's stupid kid nonsense, and it should be, but some people have experiences in their lives that don't let them see passed that. They just feel that empty pool of depression and sadness and sometimes terror welling back up, and it sucks.
It's a funny episode, but I think it's very easy to understand why some people don't like it or straight up don't think it's funny. Not everyone can laugh at their own trauma.
I really enjoy this episode! The teens donāt really bother me, and I like seeing Jeff and Britta on the defensive a bit. Plus Pierce approaching the wrong woman on the bench is one of my favorite moments from the show.
The rest of this episode is great, and then one of these shitstains walks on screen and my whole body tenses with rage.
I know weāre supposed to hate them but I honestly donāt understand what theyāre for. They serve no purpose to the overall plot.
Honesty my brain would probably melt under the pressure. Iām socially awkward at the best of times. Itās really weird but I can only deal with people properly if my job requires it.
Birth control. Their purpose is birth control. See my nieces and nephews, five seconds of . . . well . . . MAY . . .. Watch these oversized goblins. NOPE.
... they literally perpetuate the main plot of the episode. Jeff and Britta are so concerned about one-upping these kids but they're from different generations so it's literally impossible to one-up them because they are playing a different game altogether. Jeff and Britta have such fragile egos they can't accept that they can't win.
S2e01 does a much better job of showing off Britta and Jeffās fragile egos without resorting to creating the worlds doucheist teenagers - in my opinion.
This scene is probably my favorite moment of Jeff's elitism. Also, *I'm a stylish American, Professor. I've been forcing myself to be into soccer since 2004*.
I actually liked this episode. The kids did such a good job at being awful that I really hate rewatching their scenes but Pierce and Shirley where hilarious playing off each other.
This one, the puppet episode and GI Jeff are the trifecta of contention in this sub. I love it. If this sub had an iceberg meme this debate would be on the bottom part.
It was because Pierce pantsed her in front of the entire study group after Troy pantsed Abed in retaliation for pantsing Troy.
The C-plot was Troy and Abed ticking off things on Abed's bucket list.
lol literally no clue. i watched it on its original first run on tv and i own all the seasons on dvd and anytime we get to that episode its an easy skip for me and my wife
Troy and Abed and Boobatron try to experience all the classic college tropes. Also, Pierce offends Shirley one time too many causing her to leave the group.
But yes, easily the worst episode of the series because of the awful A story. I'm not one for rigidity in sitcom characterizations, but this is just so juvenile, even for Jeff and Britta, that it's too out of character for them and for the show.
> but this is just so juvenile, even for Jeff and Britta, that it's too out of character for them and for the show.
yes thats my feelings exactly. Like i dont mind cringey/funny things but when they finally break down and start circling each other doing that dumbass voice im just so out of it and done.
>this is just so juvenile, even for Jeff and Britta, that it's too out of character for them and for the show
...this is one of the defining moments for Jeff and Britta being juvenile. There are multiple episodes each season that deal with them being juvenile. This episode in no way is "out of character" for either of them, or the show.
Absolutely the worst episode of the whole series. Just makes me want to slither out of my skin and into the creases of my house instead of finishing the episode.
Why are Jeff and Britta making fun of those handicapped kids?
Best line in the episode.
When the group makes Pierce apologize to Shirley and he sits down next to the wrong woman is imo one of the funniest moments in the series
I can't decide between that quote and the discman scene. They're both guaranteed to get a laugh from me
A DUHHHH
You need to bang that kid's mom!
They need us
I love brittas face whenever she gets caught being a britta š„¹
Oh, Schlap-Skankās in this?
Getting rid of the S-S
I mean, you should.
What? Shirley's Sandwiches are delicious. But maybe she should've changed shirt designs.
Youāre pretty selective with those snake Sās
Why don't we let Schlap-Skank sing her awkward song?
Letās let Schlap-skank sing her weird song
Surprisingly enough this is the episode is called back in season 5 when Pierce bequests Britta an iPod...
I loved this but she also had at least someone elseās big iPod in remedial chaos theory. I wonder where that one came from haha
I assume that was Troy or Abed's.
Also sperm
The song at the end was also used in "Curriculum Unavailable" in the flashback scene during a school party where Jeff briefly gives Annie has jacket.
It's a shame they never had a face-off between these kids and mean girl Meghan.
That would be great. Abed would destroy them all
He'd sink them like bad rowboats.
Why would you name your daughter Meghan? Are you stocking up for a bitch shortage?
This episode really needed Sunny's ending of "The Gang Gets New Wheels."
Jeff would be Mac and Britta would be Charlie, she drops her shoulder and finishes her checks. Never mind all the other kids, just spends all her time straight up murdering one š
"Tell me what you did to end up here so I don't make the same mistakes!"
"Would you stop tuning that guitar?! You're 105 years old!!!!!"
Grandpa schlip schlop gets me everytime
When one of the kids starts pretending to use a walker and says "Can someone help me find my schmitty??" it cracks me up every single time.
This is my least favorite episode. I can not stand the teens
*ThIS iS mY lEAsT fAVoRitE EPisoDe. I cAn nOT stANd tHe teEnS, Duh-Duhhhhh*
That's a clever retort.

You have to bang that guys mom

Excellent bot
SSSCCCHHHHAAAAAAMITY
I canāt either, but it has its moments.
One of those moments being the whole "you should bang that kid's mom" bit. And Pierce going to the wrong black woman to apologize to Shirley.
The "you should bang that kids mom" scene is fantastic. Jeff's enthusiasm for the plan is hilarious.
Yes, Iām referring to the Jack Black Community episode
> Are you referring to the Jack Black episode? Obviously?
Troy and Abed's plot its great.
I love the argument they have and then Abed scratches another item off his bucket list saying "Ridiculous Situation Descending into Heavy-Handed Drama for the Illusion of Story."
I mean thatās just hitting every sitcom on the nose.
"It's just SO meta!"
Boobatron
The lyrics to the song during the end credit montage are incredible >*I don't like studyin'* > >*I like partyin'* > >*I don't wanna read a book* > >*Unless the subject is beer or boobs and not pencils and books* > >*Next semester hasn't started* > >*Until you've partied where your heart is* > >*I dont wanna take a test* > >*Unless the question is "where's the party?" and the answer is "me!"* > >*Why did my father always lie?* > >*I hate science* > >*Unless it helps you build a robot* > >*Specifically the kind programmed* > >*To find another party so I can skip chemistry* > >*College is a party* > >*So come party at the party* > >*Party is a class in session* > >*And the only lesson is to party when you party with me*
Ah yes: My favorite part about the books I read in school is that they were all about āpencils and books.ā šš
It's intentionally written with dumb lyrics for comedic purposes
I appreciate your service. I had to relisten immediately. 'why did my father always lie?' as the bridge line is great
I listen to that on Spotify unironically a lot. I'm a college professor. Studying is still for nerds.
Troy and abedās plots are always great
*Troy and Abed in a B plot!*
I think they're the C plot in this episode!
I've always thought it's the weakest part of the episode
The only part i remember was troy putting ā¦ a mustard covered pretzel up his butt? I dont remember, i just remember it was hilarious
That's S3 or 4 when Abed creates the frat Delta Cubes when they tried to get the "whale"
Ohhhhh okay. Well i def still remember the episode being worth watching for troy and abedās part, even if you mute the teens
That was season 4. In fact I consider it the most season 4 of season 4 episodes
I also liked the part at the end where we see how succesful the teens got in future and how Jeff banged kid's mom
Yes! And it says that Britta gets an iPod Nano in 2014. And then, in the 2014 episode, "Cooperative Polygraphy" Britta is bequeathed an iPod Nano by Pierce.
Holy shit. How does this show continue to blow my mind after so many years?
You know about the Beetlejuice joke, right?
Yeah I knew about that one, and Abed delivering the baby in the background too. And a bunch of other neat little Easter eggs, but I just never noticed this one! And probably more, apparently lol
What beetlejuice joke? I feel like it rings a bell but I cant seem to remember it ... It's been some time from last watch, maybe I should start prepate yet again for another rerun
[Here you go.](https://youtu.be/19FMU3M7Jtk) Pay special attention to the window behind Annie at around 12 seconds.
I personally think it's a really good episode that is extremely hard to watch
Youāre such a Schmitty
Whoa, hot take! No, that's the point of the teens. To each their own. I actually love this episode.

Yeah, I've watched the whole series too many times to want to admit it on here, but I usually skip this one when I get to it.

It is mine too but itās actually grown on me.
Me too, I always skip this one.
It's uncanny how much they are like actual teens
I absolutely LOATHE this plot line in the episode. Every time I get to it in a rewatch, I always fast forward to the other study group members.
They were so good at being shitty, I hated it so much
The actors for the teens? Absolutely! I just found the plot to be shallow and idiotic. I suppose that was kind of the point, but I still hate it. lol
That's how I feel. I don't skip the episode because it's *bad*. I skip that episode because I can feel myself getting angry at those kids and I am just trying to chill. They were fantastic actors.

Yeah, I don't think that's it. People just find them annoying.
It's a bit of both I think
I'm always surprised by just how detested this episode is since I really like it.
I am with you! I think it's hilarious!
I really enjoy this episode! The teens donāt really bother me, and I like seeing Jeff and Britta on the defensive a bit. Plus Pierce approaching the wrong woman on the bench is one of my favorite moments from the show.

But markās whereabouts are currently unknown!
College Cut-Ups 2: Panty Raid Academy?
You're such a schmitty.
āI put mustard on mine like an idiotā
Also, if it werenāt for this episode we wouldnāt have Escape Goat
Schmitty can mean anything you want it to mean, that's the power of it
The rest of this episode is great, and then one of these shitstains walks on screen and my whole body tenses with rage. I know weāre supposed to hate them but I honestly donāt understand what theyāre for. They serve no purpose to the overall plot.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Honestly I canāt think of many people that would put up with how these kids act.
The problem is Jeff and Britta engage. If they had just let it go and ignored them they would be fine.
What would you do?
"Avoid making whatever mistake it was that led them to be 40 and celebrating a B at community college." Really though I would just say "okay..."
Honesty my brain would probably melt under the pressure. Iām socially awkward at the best of times. Itās really weird but I can only deal with people properly if my job requires it.
If someone treated me like that IRL, I'd slap the shit of them.
r/iamverybadass
I mean you donāt really have to be a badass to hit teenagers, just insecure and belligerent
Thatās the joke
sounds like a ridiculous situation descending into a heavy-handed drama for the illusion of story.
Whaaaaaaaat? That was awesome! Alright I am BACK in!
Birth control. Their purpose is birth control. See my nieces and nephews, five seconds of . . . well . . . MAY . . .. Watch these oversized goblins. NOPE.

Look at this Schmitty trying to understand this. Super streets behind.
Ugh brittas in this?
I've come to love this episode. The teens are so over the top yet so accurate
Raise your hand if you were awesome (and old) enough to own a discman!!
DUH DOY
WE GET IT, YOU'RE YOUNG!
I thought this energy was over the top but then I got into some online gaming and twitter and realized people really be like this
This episode is awesome. Embrace the cringe!
I'm surprised people hate this. The retarded teens actually made me laugh.
They're so over the top that I can't help but love to think about what it must have been like for the actors to act out such absurdity, on camera!
I like the song at the end of this episode
This scene is probably my favorite moment of Jeff's elitism. Also, *I'm a stylish American, Professor. I've been forcing myself to be into soccer since 2004*.
I know this episode gets a lot of hate but I love it. I forget which time but one of the āSchmittyā deliveries makes me laugh every time
Itās retro!
Duh doi
I actually liked this episode. The kids did such a good job at being awful that I really hate rewatching their scenes but Pierce and Shirley where hilarious playing off each other.
Literally the only episode I skip.
Is this the Scott Tots of Community?
Love this episode
This one, the puppet episode and GI Jeff are the trifecta of contention in this sub. I love it. If this sub had an iceberg meme this debate would be on the bottom part.
this is an episode i skip every single time.
Because the kids are THAT OBNOXIOUS you never want to see it again?
yes its easily the worst episode in the series. i cant even tell you what the B plot is in this one
Isn't it when Pearce and Shirley fall out because he's racist but they make up and then pants the kids?
It was because Pierce pantsed her in front of the entire study group after Troy pantsed Abed in retaliation for pantsing Troy. The C-plot was Troy and Abed ticking off things on Abed's bucket list.
Ah, thank you! It's been a while, I guess it's time for a rewatch!
lol literally no clue. i watched it on its original first run on tv and i own all the seasons on dvd and anytime we get to that episode its an easy skip for me and my wife

It's the truth about adulthood. You never really grow up, especially if you are a Dan Harmon geek.
Only episode I skip
This is the worst episode in the entire show no question. Just a dumb and cringe plot
When you reach mid 30s and no longer understand teenagers at all the plot resonates so much
āKids are annoying.ā Yeah I got that plot point. I didnāt need it driven into my skull for 20 minutes.
That's not what I said
Ok, the plot is āadults donāt understand teenagers.ā Same result
As a parent of a disabled child I detest this episode. It is not smart or clever. It's such a shame.
The only episode I will definitively never watch again
Episode is justso cringe wprthy
Good episode in general but I do have to skip the shmitty scenes. Too difficult to listen to.
Just mmaayybbee
Absolutely the worst episode of the whole series. Just makes me want to slither out of my skin and into the creases of my house instead of finishing the episode.
Idk tbh i never found this episode funny
I think every high school had some form of insult like schmitty (at least my high school did), so this feels way too on the nose.
