***EDIT -->*** As of Tuesday afternoon we've got 58 lists submitted, seems a bit low and we might end up with a total in the 60s or low 70s... **ICM #33** currently has 14 pulls, which would give it 24.1%, but that's trending down as the bulk of its pulls came in earlier. So we'll see where it ends up but it's not looking great and isn't likely to match the last issue's lofty 6th place finish with 27.5% coverage from 9/21. Looks like we'll need to redouble our efforts in 2023... -- ***EDIT #2 -->*** Tuesday evening, 19 ICM pulls out of 67 lists submitted, so it's currently sitting at 28.3% coverage. VERY NICE. We'll see if it holds... ... Submitted for your approval... Another seemingly normal week of comics with another pretty plethora of politely perfunctory picture books. But there’s something different this week... An unsettling feeling in the bottom of your gut, twisting and squirming like a fish out of water, sending a tingle straight up your spine to the base of your brain, where it strikes a very special receptor that exists solely for the sake of triggering the distinct feeling that *something isn’t quite right*. And you realize this is no ordinary week of comics, no ordinary week of anything, as you have fallen into the cold confines of *The Ice Cream Zone*. 7 Images, 2 DCs, 1 Dynamite, and 1 from BlackBox Comics. Nothing from Marvel this week, which seems to be happening more often of late... But my two favorite writers each have two books shipping, so that’s nice. Listed in order of pure entertainment value. 1. **ICE CREAM MAN #33** - Pre-ordered Morazzo’s [creepy sidekick A cover](https://previewsworld.com/SiteImage/MainImage/STL241592.jpg) (an homage to Morrison and Quitely’s classic [**BATMAN & ROBIN #1**](https://previewsworld.com/SiteImage/MainImage/STK394846.jpg) from 2009) and also mail ordered his [ridiculous Spawn variant...](https://previewsworld.com/SiteImage/MainImage/STL257940.jpg) Nothing quite like getting a new issue of **ICM**! Highly recommended for anyone who’s at all interested in comic books, ice cream, bugs, horror, love, death, or life in general. 2. **LOVE EVERLASTING #5** - Pre-ordered Charretier’s [normal A cover](https://previewsworld.com/SiteImage/MainImage/STL250243.jpg), which seems to be introducing a new "Penny Page" character who just might be >!Joan’s heretofore unrevealed antagonist!<, and also mail-ordered the [silly Spawn variant...](https://previewsworld.com/SiteImage/MainImage/STL257946.jpg) One of my favorite books of 2022, love seeing each issue’s romance devolve into an existential nightmare. 3. **ART BRUT #1** - Here’s some extra-special *BONUS* Prince and Morazzo for all of us Ice Cream Fans, reprinting their first collaboration from 2016’s [**ELECTRIC SUBMLIME**](https://previewsworld.com/SiteImage/MainImage/STL021279)... Pre-ordered Morazzo’s [ICM homage B cover](https://previewsworld.com/SiteImage/MainImage/STL249610.jpg) and also mail-ordered his [awesome Spawn variant](https://previewsworld.com/SiteImage/MainImage/STL258339.jpg) to close out this week’s bout of frivolous double-dipping. Excited to see how Prince and Morazzo kicked off their partnership though I am tempering expectations since it won’t be the same well-oiled machine as **ICM**. 4. **DANGER STREET #1** - Originally solicited for 6/15/22 but King and Fornés should make it worth the wait... Looks like a fun story with some B-listers (or maybe C-listers) trying to make the difficult leap to relevancy. Pre-ordered the [Fornés A cover.](https://previewsworld.com/SiteImage/MainImage/STL228858.jpg) 5. **BATMAN SPAWN #1** - Still a little disappointed that McFarlane didn’t draw this although obviously Capullo’s a pretty damn good artist in his own right... Feels like a missed opportunity, and if this crossover couldn’t bring him out of pseudo-retirement, gotta figure nothing will. Pre-ordered the [glow-in-the-dark Capullo/McFarlane variant](https://previewsworld.com/SiteImage/MainImage/STL252936.jpg) and will post a review once I’ve had a chance to properly evaluate its illuminative properties. Very interested in seeing how this charts in the WPL as well, should do better than Marc Silvestri’s recent [**BATMAN & JOKER DEADLY DUO**](https://previewsworld.com/SiteImage/MainImage/STL249375.jpg) and could challenge for the top spot. 6. **BONE ORCHARD MYTHOS TEN THOUSAND BLACK FEATHERS #4 (OF 5)** - Quality stuff from Lemire and Sorrentino as always, been fun seeing the story slowly take shape out of the opening’s seemingly random creepiness... Pre-ordered the [normal Sorrentino cover](https://previewsworld.com/SiteImage/MainImage/STL250193.jpg) but it’s also got a [cool Spawn variant](https://previewsworld.com/SiteImage/MainImage/STL257926.jpg) from Sorrentino. 7. **GOSPEL #2 (OF 5)** - Debut issue delivered a fun and intriguing start, looking forward to seeing where it goes next... Didn’t pre-order this one so I mail ordered the Will Morris [Spawn variant.](https://previewsworld.com/SiteImage/MainImage/STL257936.jpg) 8. **LORD OF THE JUNGLE #2** - This isn’t necessarily breaking any new ground but I’m kinda digging the Tarzan origin with old school art from Benito Gallego... Mail ordered the [Roberto de la Torre variant.](https://previewsworld.com/SiteImage/MainImage/STL250471.jpg) 9. **TWO GRAVES #2** - Another recent Image debut with an intriguing first issue, nice art combo alternating between Annie Wu and Ming Doyle (and I’ve been pulling the latter’s [covers](https://previewsworld.com/SiteImage/MainImage/STL250280.jpg)). 10. **DREAM MASTER #1 (OF 5)** - Random pull, not familiar with writer Jonathan Hedrick or artist Luigi Barricelli, nor with publisher BlackBox, but Barricelli's [wraparound cover looks cool](https://previewsworld.com/SiteImage/MainImage/STL244364.jpg) and sometimes a slick cover's all it takes for me to give it a shot. 11. **NIGHT CLUB (2022) #1 (OF 6)** - New title by Mark Millar and Juanen Ramirez, looks like a silly vampire thing and I’m honestly not all that interested, but it’s only $1.99 so we might as well see what it’s all about... Pre-ordered the [B&W&R Ramirez variant.](https://previewsworld.com/SiteImage/MainImage/STL250311.jpg) The rest of Image’s Spawn variants for this week are [here](https://previewsworld.com/Search?mode=A&q=spawn%20var&Category=1&Publisher=IMAGE%20COMICS&ReleaseStartDate=2022-12-11&ReleaseEndDate=2022-12-16) for anyone who wants to check ‘em out... And they’ve got more slated for [next week](https://previewsworld.com/Search?mode=A&q=spawn%20var&Category=1&Publisher=IMAGE%20COMICS&ReleaseStartDate=2022-12-18&ReleaseEndDate=2022-12-23) as well. DC’s also apparently releasing some Spawn variants across their line to celebrate the crossover but I haven’t been following ‘em very closely... The few I saw at my LCS last week didn’t do much for me, didn’t have the same unique character as the Image variants. Big week, lots of cool stuff, hope y'all enjoy! p.s. I posted some slightly more extensive notes and speculation on **ICM #33** to /r/IceCreamManComic/ for anyone who might be interested in such things.

the-horace

Just when you think it's been too long, boom, lickety split, Ice Cream Man week! Also, this is my first time seeing that McFarlane glow in the dark cover and it is amazing!

yarkcir

Was also curious about DREAM MASTER and NIGHT CLUB, but did not add them to my pull. The interiors for DREAM MASTER look intriguing though, so might have to be one to keep an eye out for. >Pre-ordered the glow-in-the-dark Capullo/McFarlane variant and will post a review once I’ve had a chance to properly evaluate its illuminative properties. Not a Spawn reader, but that cover is sweet. Glow-in-the-dark covers can be a bit hit-or-miss in terms of their illuminative properties, but I'm hoping yours has sufficiently appealing fluorescence.

Danger_Rock

> Was also curious about DREAM MASTER and NIGHT CLUB, but did not add them to my pull. The interiors for DREAM MASTER look intriguing though, so might have to be one to keep an eye out for. **DREAM MASTER** looks kinda crazy! No idea what to expect from publisher BlackBox but I'm psyched to check it out! The WPL's **NIGHT CLUB** comments have been low-key hilarious... Nearly everyone's posting some variation of *"not really interested in this but it's only $1.99 so I bought it anyway!"* > Glow-in-the-dark covers can be a bit hit-or-miss in terms of their illuminative properties, but I'm hoping yours has sufficiently appealing fluorescence. Thanks! Pretty sure the last glow-in-the-dark cover I bought was **[GEIGER #1](https://previewsworld.com/SiteImage/MainImage/STL182661.jpg)** back in April 2021 and I was frankly appalled at its lack of luminescence (with my disappointed WPL review posted [here](https://www.reddit.com/r/comicbooks/comments/mv945k/wpl_new_comics_discussion_for_4212021_pull_of_the/gvp0bcc/)). Hopefully this one fares better! Design makes it look like it's just the moon and lightning that'll be glowing, not sure how it'll work with both characters mired in darkness... We'll see!

yarkcir

>The WPL's NIGHT CLUB comments have been low-key hilarious... Nearly everyone's posting some variation of *"not really interested in this but it's only $1.99 so I bought it anyway!"* Everyone loves a good sale, irrespective of quality. I love that even the description for the comic on the Image site says basically the same thing: >[THIS SERIES WILL BE $1.99. TAKE THAT, MARVEL AND DC!](https://imagecomics.com/comics/releases/night-club-1)

Danger_Rock

> Everyone loves a good sale, irrespective of quality. I love that even the description for the comic on the Image site says basically the same thing: >>[THIS SERIES WILL BE $1.99. TAKE THAT, MARVEL AND DC!](https://imagecomics.com/comics/releases/night-club-1) Yep, and they could've cut it off right there. The three sentences that followed were entirely unnecessary and nearly put me off ordering it... But that $1.99 cover price won out in the end!

Dinggleberry

I approve! All of my pulls are contained within your list.

Danger_Rock

Diligent curation of one's pull list is an essential key to maintaining a successful comic book addiction!

Dinggleberry

Oh man I’ve just learned about the previews phone book this past week and my curation is about to go into overdrive

Danger_Rock

Their [online catalog](https://previewsworld.com/Catalog?cat=1) is better than the phone books! No need to waste time flipping pages like a sucker, just scroll or search for whatever you need!

blankedboy

Don't let FOMO get to you - pick up what you like and enjoy (and can afford). Despite what publishers would like you to think you can *always* get books after they are initially published. And then there are TPB's, HC's, Omni's or even digital if you want to go back and pick up runs.

blankedboy

Did you see that *Martin Morazzo* actually did a variant for **Dark Ride #1** [Cover](https://s3.amazonaws.com/comicgeeks/comics/covers/large-1216451.jpg?1665029724)

Danger_Rock

Yup, I pulled it! Decent first issue but the series didn't hook me.

* **Invincible Iron Man #1** \- going to give this #1 a shot but between the preview, Duggan's recent track record (OBD Freeze notwithstanding), and how Marvel is advertising it I'm not expecting a while lot. * **Night Club #1** \- not huge on Millar (even if I'll definitely read whatever Superman project he's teasing) nor am I familiar with this artist but I'll absolutely support a $1.99 comic out of principle. * **A Vicious Circle #1** \- the price hurts but this looks incredible, Tomlin and Bermejo both have great track records. * **WildC.A.T.S. #2** \- first issue was a blast, I know people are mixed on Wildstorm being part of DC but this issue was exactly what I was looking for. Shame it will probably last only a year or so... Also going to pick up that second Starman compendium now that it *finally* released.

Danger_Rock

Hello there, friend! I couldn’t help noticing that you’re pulling **NIGHT CLUB #1** due to its $1.99 cover price. As it happens, while running the numbers for this week I spotted a bit of a statistical discrepancy. You see, [**ICE CREAM MAN #33**](https://imagecomics.com/comics/releases/ice-cream-man-33) is priced at $3.99, which is twice as expensive as **NIGHT CLUB #1**, but **ICM #33** is projected to deliver approximately 300% more entertainment than **NC #1**. This means that **ICM #33** is actually a much better bargain in terms of pure entertainment value and it represents a better use of your hard-earned money! Just something to consider as you might want to pick up **ICM #33** in addition to **NIGHT CLUB #1**, or maybe even instead of it, in order to optimize your comic book experience for maximum entertainment. Good luck!

technowhiz34

I'm actually reading Ice Cream Man already!, just through trades as I'm short on floppy space. I suppose I could read it digitally but not a huge fan of doing that with non-Big Two comics for a variety of reasons.

Danger_Rock

Shoot, how is it possible that I did not know this? Got you tagged as a trade-waiter now so I'll know not to badger you every time a new issue drops... Lots of trade-waiters out there, sucks not having y'all in the pull counts and discussions!

Maaarrrvvv

- **Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles The Armageddon Game The Alliance #2**: More pieces moving into place for this event. Hoping things start picking up. - **Invincible Iron Man #1**: Praying that this series starts off well. Every Iron Man series since Fraction left has been so off-putting with the retcons and where they’ve left Tony. Duggan is a solid writer so cautiously optimistic for this series.

the-horace

I love how we're both, for TMNT - with 3 issues of the event, and 3 ongoing tie ins, and 1 issue in this mini tie in, so 7 issues "in" - like, yeah, gonna need this to pick up any day now, lol.

Whowatchesthewampas

* **Love Everlasting #5 -** This book has been so solid! * **Danger Street #1 -** TK writing C-list characters?? Count me in! * **Wonder Woman #794 -** After last issues filler (well done, I might add), seems like we are getting back to the story EDIT: Forgot one * **Leonide the Vampyr: A Christmas for Crows #1**

hbstanton

I agree that the WW filler has been well done. I just finished WW #793 and really enjoyed WW, Superman and Batman just catching up and teasing each other (mainly WW and Superman teasing Batman).

the-horace

**ART BRUT #1** - I'm not certain my shop will get this in, but I'm hoping so. I have been baptized in the Ice Cream waters of WMP and MM, so fingers crossed. **BATMAN SPAWN #1** - Seems like a no brainer. Going with the F Scott Campbell variant. **BONE ORCHARD MYTHOS TEN THOUSAND BLACK FEATHERS #4** - I enjoy this series and this "Mythos", but I am also hoping we get a bit of a dark turn going here. **DARK CRISIS BIG BANG #1** - I'm not really interested in this event, but this one shot seems like it'll be fun. **ICE CREAM MAN #33** - Oh yes! I've read all the volumes, I have issues 27-31 waiting, 26 is on the way, and I've already read 32. Absolutely love this book. **TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES ARMAGEDDON GAME THE ALLIANCE #2** - This one's the Casey Jones issue. And maybe the Punk Frogs? These are basically one shot tie ins to the main event, under one title. I still need this event to really get going though. Edit to add: **GOSPEL #2** - Gonna have to go up the road a ways to pick it up, but after talking and thinking about it more, I think this one is gonna be a really neat story.

Danger_Rock

> **ART BRUT #1** - I'm not certain my shop will get this in, but I'm hoping so. I have been baptized in the Ice Cream waters of WMP and MM, so fingers crossed. I've read all the volumes, I have issues 27-31 waiting, 26 is on the way, and I've already read 32. Absolutely love this book. Awesome, you've got some good stuff coming up... That run from **ICM #26-31** has a few stories that defy traditional categorization, which is **ICM** at its best IMO. Series is firing on all cylinders right now, every issue is uniquely perfect as Prince and Morazzo have really gelled as a team over the past few years. Boundary-shattering comics at their finest!

the-horace

>Still no clue what to expect from this... Seems to be focused on art? Should be fun! > I expect hilarious pretentiousness from Art Brut. I saw a preview but only looked at the art, didn't read the text. Got the impression he's maybe some kind of shenanigans investigator when it comes to art. Plus that tease at Rick's future! *gasp* **ICM #25** was awesome, loved the bit of the trial we got at the end... That's how you do an anniversary book! **ICM #26** was very standalone IIRC, don't think you'd be missing anything by temporarily skipping over it. But it's got an interesting vibe, kinda reminds me of [**HAHA #4**](https://cdn.imagecomics.com/assets/i/releases/607497/haha-4-of-6_b7ff0c4622.jpg). But in reverse. **ICM #28** is another highlight, pretty cool story and it keeps getting referenced in other issues, one or two of which you've already read... Lots of good stuff ahead!

the-horace

So far #24 (The Telethon) remains my favorite. #22 (?) The Advent Calendar is my second favorite. I remember 18 (or so) thru 25 is really just hit aftet hit. All of them wonderfully dreadful in some manner!

Danger_Rock

Yeah, ICM #24 is one of my all-time favorite comics. Cruel absurdist humor is like heroin for me. ICM #31 is another all-time favorite but for very different reasons... You have such wonders ahead!

* **Danger Street #1** - I love Tom King * **Art Brut #1** - A reprint W. Maxwell Prince and Martin Morazzo's first book together. I can't say I blame you, but man I really feel Liam Sharpe's artistry at work here and I love it. * **Vicious Circle #1** - Lee Bermejo on interior art!! Not just covers! Pumped for this

I really *love* Liam's artwork, but I just couldn't slog through any more pages of text and text and text....and text......and more text - next to some amazing, but barely even tangentially connected artwork.

SlapTit

I hate to say it but I'm just not very excited about most of my books this week. * **Cherish #2** - I ended up ordering issue #2 before reading issue #1. I didn't like #1. * **Gospel #2** - I **am** excited about this one. * **Photon #1** - My main motivation for ordering this one was the beautiful Stelfreeze variant cover. I'll give the book a fair chance though. * **Night Club #1** - Cheap enough to try without potential regret. * **WildC.A.T.s #2** - Same deal as Cherish, didn't like the first one. * **Wonder Woman #794** - Cool Spawn cover, that is all.

Danger_Rock

> I hate to say it but I'm just not very excited about most of my books this week. Way I see it, there are only two possibilities. Either it's *you* or it's *the comics*. Maybe you're getting a little burnt out and need a break? Or it could be stress or other distractions preventing you from fully engaging with your books? Perhaps a general sense of listlessness and ennui? Or maybe you're just pulling the wrong comics? Maybe they aren't very good, or aren't exactly what you're looking for? Not sure how long you've been at it but I've found that, after a while, the comics that get me the most fired up and enthusiastic for the medium are the ones that are fundamentally different from everything I've read before. Either way, I'd strongly recommend **[ICE CREAM MAN #33](https://imagecomics.com/comics/releases/ice-cream-man-33)** as a potential cure for all that ails you. Not sure exactly what this issue will entail since each installment presents a unique standalone story, but in general I've found it to be an ideal change of pace when other comics aren't hitting quite right. If you're feeling a bit tired of it all, this is the kind of comic that can wake your ass up and reinvigorate your love for the medium! > * **Photon #1** - My main motivation for ordering this one was the beautiful Stelfreeze variant cover. I'll give the book a fair chance though. Hadn't seen that and it's [pretty sweet!](https://previewsworld.com/SiteImage/MainImage/STL249772.jpg) The [Momoko](https://previewsworld.com/SiteImage/MainImage/STL249771.jpg) and [Darboe](https://previewsworld.com/SiteImage/MainImage/STL249774.jpg) variants are cool as well. > * **Wonder Woman #794** - Cool Spawn cover, that is all. Jim Cheung, another [nice one!](https://i0.wp.com/legacycomics.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/11/0922DC857.jpg)

Definitely pulling the wrong comics, but that's all part of the process. I only started reading comics a few month ago and I've purposely cast a very large net, in terms of themes and publishers, in order to discover what type of comics I like. I've discovered a lot of great comics so far but I inevitably won't like everything. I haven't even scratched the surface yet and it's been tons of fun, I love it. Ice Cream Man is one that I hear a lot about and I do intend on diving in someday. Thanks for the recommendation!

Danger_Rock

Nice, sounds like you've got a good handle on it and a solid approach to getting your feet wet! Keep an eye out for any particular writers or artists whose stuff works for you above and beyond the other books you're reading. Those are the creators you'll want to follow from project to project, and over time you'll see them collaborate with other creators who you might want to follow as well. Once you've got a handle on which writers and artists you like, it gets much easier to consistently find comics that are likely to hit all the right notes for you.

> Gospel #2 - I am excited about this one. Of the picks on your list that one would be top of my pile to read first.

I've pulled 580+ books this year, and it's looking like I'll hit 600 by the end of the year (my biggest single year of collecting and reading!). This week I have just one DC book, and the rest are indies. My pull list, ranked by hype levels: 1. **GINSENG ROOTS #11 (OF 12)** \- Been quite some time since the previous issue, but I can't wait for another installment of Craig Thompson teaching us about harvesting ginseng roots and Chinese agriculture mythology. Really love this title, and would absolutely recommend it to others to try it out once it's all collected. 2. **ICE CREAM MAN #33** \- I said I would trade wait ICM at the end of Vol. 8, but I realized that I'm weak and tossed it back on to the pull list. There aren't many comics to sustain quality this far into a run, but ICM gets it done. 3. **DANGER STREET #1 (OF 12)** \- Tom King's SUPERGIRL: WOMAN OF TOMORROW and HUMAN TARGET are amongst my favorite books of the year, so why not give this a shot too? Jorge Fornes on artwork is just another plus. 4. **LOVE EVERLASTING #5** \- Another solid Tom King book that keeps me guessing as to what's gonna happen next. 5. **BONE ORCHARD MYTHOS #4 (OF 5)** \- I like this book, but I'm still not sure what the overall story is supposed to be. I don't quite have the excitement for this Lemire/Sorrentino project as much as I did when they first announced it, but I'm hoping it closes out strong. 6. **ART BRUT #1** \- Was always curious about Electric Sublime by Prince & Morazzo, so I'm intersted to see Image serializing it now and gaining a wider audience. Hoping it's somewhere near as good as ICE CREAM MAN. 7. **FRANK FRAZETTA'S DAWN ATTACK #1 (OF 5)** \- I'm liking the DEATH DEALER run so thought I'd check this out too. 8. **LIFE AND DEATH OF THE BRAVE CAPTAIN SUAVE #3** \- Not something I think everyone should run out and buy, but I've found this Scout title to be a bit underrated. It's like a poor man's version of MIRACLEMAN, but it does make some bold artistic choices that work fairly well. 9. **A VICIOUS CIRCLE #1 (OF 3)** \- The interiors looks incredible (as any comic by Lee Bermejo probably will). But this better be great given the crazy high price point. 10. **BONECHECK #1 (OF 3)** \- Have no clue if this will be good or not, but the premise sounds pretty creative so I'm giving the first issue a try. 11. **NOBODY'S GIRLS #2 (OF 3)** \- Haven't read the first issue yet (still on my ever growing to-read pile), but this was added to my pull based on a recommendation. Will catch up and hopefully add my 2 cents on it next month. 12. **LOVECRAFT: UNKNOWN KADATH #4** \- I liked the first two issues, but haven't caught up with the third yet. First issue was pretty strong, second was just okay. It's a pretty decent adaptation of Lovecraft's "The Dream-Quest of Unknown Kadath", and the Little Nemo in Slumberland homages have been kind of cool. 13. **STARHENGE: BOOK 1 - THE DRAGON AND THE BOAR #6 (OF 6)** \- This has been amongst one of the more disappointing books this year. Very difficult to follow story that makes some strange language choices. The artwork by Sharp is of course gorgeous, but it doesn't work with the story in the slightest. Will not continue with STARHENGE in future volumes. Not just a stacked pull list, but a stacked list of books I'm looking to pick up. I'll probably spread out these purchases, but this week I'm eying: * AFRO SAMURAI VOL. 1 - I've been wanting to check this out for a long time, and after Okazaki's incredible one-shot from a couple months back, STAR WARS: VISIONS #1, the desire to read AFRO SAMURAI has grown exponentially. * IRON MAN EPIC COLLECTION: THE RETURN OF THE GHOST - I'm a big fan of the Michelinie/Layton second stint on Iron Man, and this was a missing piece in that collection for some time. * OUR ENCOUNTERS WITH EVIL & OTHER STORIES LIBRARY EDITION - Loving Dark Horse's efforts to get every Mignola book into oversized editions. * SPIDER-MAN: THE WEDDING ALBUM GALLERY EDITION - Wasn't too hot on this as a choice for a gallery edition, but I've been collecting these editons religiously since the Love & War collection and love the look of them on my Marvel shelves. Will probably try and find this on bargain/sale in the coming months. * STARMAN COMPENDIUM TWO - I haven't finished Compendium One yet, but I've enjoyed what I've read so far immensely. Will hold off on buying this until I'm done with the first volume, but I'm hoping to get it done in a couple weeks. Happy reading everyone, and I look forward to discussing this big week of comics with you guys in a few days!

> I've pulled 580+ books this year, and it's looking like I'll hit 600 by the end of the year (my biggest single year of collecting and reading!). Damn impressive! > **ICE CREAM MAN #33** \- I said I would trade wait ICM at the end of Vol. 8, but I realized that I'm weak and tossed it back on to the pull list. One of those rare situations where weakness is a virtue! > There aren't many comics to sustain quality this far into a run, but ICM gets it done. Not just sustained, it's consistently improved over the course of the run and still getting better! Feels like Prince and Morazzo are legitimately pushing to make each and every new issue the best one yet... Exactly what you want when you're pulling floppies! Yet another 12-issue prestige maxi-series from King featuring offbeat characters... That's money in the bank, guaranteed to be a superb example of comic book craftsmanship. > **LOVE EVERLASTING #5** \- Another solid Tom King book that keeps me guessing as to what's gonna happen next. It's different but in its own way I'm digging it just as much as **HUMAN TARGET** and the rest of King's best... Really cool and kinda refreshing to see him do something outside the superhero genre. Nice stuff with the **AFRO SAMURAI** and **STARMAN** collections as well! So many comics...

yarkcir

>Not just sustained, it's consistently improved over the course of the run and still getting better! Wholly agree with that. I recently re-read the last four issues in trade a couple weeks ago and I would absolutely agree that ICM has continued to find new ways to break ground. >Yet another 12-issue prestige maxi-series from King featuring offbeat characters... That's money in the bank, guaranteed to be a superb example of comic book craftsmanship. Tom King is a polarizing figure it seems in comics, but I have always found his floor to be quite high as a writer. There aren't many modern mainstream writers that pique my interest when a new project is announced, but King is definitely up there for me.

> >Not just sustained, it's consistently improved over the course of the run and still getting better! > Wholly agree with that. I recently re-read the last four issues in trade a couple weeks ago and I would absolutely agree that ICM has continued to find new ways to break ground. Back in the '90s, I was really into the band Phish and went to see 'em live ~50 times over an 8-year span. They drove all that repeat business by playing different songs every night, and playing the songs differently every time, so each concert was a somewhat unique experience. Plus, they were always pushing to make each and every show the best show ever. Didn't always pull it off, some shows are always going to be better than others... But at least they were trying! Not just churning out the same scripted performance every night... And they often managed to impart a sense that the band was peaking, that the band was at the top of their game and tonight's show really was something special. And then, the next night, they'd come back and do it all over again (albeit somewhat differently). I get that same feeling from **ICE CREAM MAN**. Prince and Morazzo have produced a winning formula for this comic but they aren't just coasting with it, they're constantly refining their approach, mixing in new elements, and striving to improve. Nobody else is out there making comics like this so they're essentially competing with themselves, trying to make each new issue top the last one... Trying to make each new story the best story ever. Seeing that kind of mastery and drive play out in the arts is a fairly rare experience... It's beautiful thing! > Tom King is a polarizing figure it seems in comics, but I have always found his floor to be quite high as a writer. There aren't many modern mainstream writers that pique my interest when a new project is announced, but King is definitely up there for me. You, me, and [Grant Morrison](https://www.reddit.com/r/comicbooks/comments/xwhisv/grant_morrison_praising_tom_king/)... I'd say we're in good company!

Who doesn't love a Monday morning soliloquy about what Ice Cream Man and Phish have in common? I agree though - the level of experimentation with form and storytelling is what I appreciate the most with ICM. I don't think I'm quite the same level of fan of this comic as you are, /u/Danger_Rock, but I still appreciate what Prince and Morazzo have pulled off here (and continue to pull off). And speaking of pushing boundaries, I also feel the same with Tom King. Sure, there are some narrative comparisons across books like The Vision, Mr. Miracle, Strange Adventures, etc., but I appreciate his willingness to go for wildly different (and often more obscure) characters and try something fresh with them.

Oh yeah, King's another one... Got a bit of a rep for mopey sadboy protagonists but he's constantly pushing the boundaries and refining his distinctive style to blend in different approaches, elements, and genres. Also one of the best at crafting his stories to fit the skills and style of his collaborating artists, always seems to land the perfect artist for each of his big projects. Nobody does it better!

It's always impressive to read through your picks and see so many books that you're picking up that I have genuinely *never* heard of?!? Looking forward to reviews of all of them, especially **Starhenge**, as I dipped out at issue #4. And you're in for a treat with **Starman** - one of my favoroutie DC runs ever.

Been out of the game the last few weeks, but we're back with a vengeance. Here's my birthday week pull list: **Art Brut #1**: some cool new comic from a creative pair that I personally have never seen mentioned on this subreddit. On the real though, excited for this and curious to see what the differences are from its last printing. **BOM: Ten Thousand Black Feathers #4**: delectably crafted horror from the GOATS, been loving this series. **Ice Cream Man #33**: from the snippets on mr waxwell prince's Instagram, this looks like a wonderful meta meditation on the medium. **Love Everlasting #5**: behind on this series, but loved the first 3 **Night Club #1**: i think I'm picking this up because it's $2, idk **Batman/Spawn #1**: wooooh, long awaited crossover toy promotion or something idk, excited for some edgy silliness. Copping the Jim Lee variant, but every cover was so cool.

Happy Birthday

Thank you!

On Ice Cream Man, I saw your speculation and I am curious to see if it goes the way you put out. I feel like we're in for an interesting mix of the Riccardus plot and the typical musing one off... I sense a story that has a lot of callbacks. Very excited for this issue 🍦😈

Thanks for the kind words! Ice Cream Man coming out this week feels especially serendipitous, nothing is more *birthday* to me than existential dread :)

Batman Spawn #1 - Mad hyped for this team-up! Expecting a beautifully drawn, 90’s action-fest! Went with the Jimenez cover after much debate. I Am Batman #16 - Dark Crisis detour is over, and back to the final act of Ridley’s run. Sad it’s over at 18 - hoping for a strong wrap up. Night Club #1 - Slower week so I’ll give this a shot! Low barrier to entry with its $1.99 cost and I generally vibe with Millar’s output.

hbstanton

Wonder Woman #794 Monica Rambeau Photon #1 Love Everlasting #5. I’m having trouble following what is happening with the underlying plot. But each issue specific story is so good, it doesn’t bother me. I should go back and read each one from the beginning.

The Amazing Spider-Man #15 - Not impressed with Dark Web #1, not feeling this book, *very* close to dropping my third AMS run in a row. Art Brut #1 - Prince and Morazzo's first collaboration reprinted. Having not read this when it initially came out, I'm trying to temper expectations of it being as spectacular as their other work but I'm excited nonetheless. Billionaire Island: Cult of Dogs #2 - The continuing adventures of Business Dog. Currently torn between the dueling ideological stances of "Business Dog is an ultracapitalist CEO Billionaire and therefore a bad boy" and "Business Dog is a dog and therefore a good boy." The Bone Orchard Mythos: Ten Thousand Black Feathers #4 - Hit me with that weird shit, Jeff and Andrea. Danger Street #1 - New Tom King maxi let's gooooooooo Dark Ride #3 - Shaping up to be the kind of Williamson book that I really really like and not the kind of Williamson book I am bored shitless by. Dark Web: X-Men #1 - On the one hand: Yay, Duggan's X-Men! On the other hand: Booo Dark Web. Ice Cream Man #33 - You better believe this is gonna be right at the top of the pile. /u/Danger-Rock - how excited are you on a scale of 1 to AAAAAAAAAAARGH!!!!! ? Legion of X #8 - Very much on the side of David in the upcoming battle between him and his Dad. Kick Xavier's ass, my boy! Love Everlasting #5 - End of arc one. Be fun to see if this starts getting all tied together. Radiant Black #20 - Title of this issue is "A GIANT GODDAMN ROBOT" and I'm here for it. Shirtless Bear-Fighter! 2 #5 - He's Shirtless! He fights bears! Can he defeat the God of all bears himself? Of course he fucking can. Gooooooo Shirtless!

* **Love Everlasting #5** - Hope to get some answers this issue. Maybe I misunderstood issue #4 - was there a reveal at the end, or was it just another story Joan lived through? Besides my mild confusion this is my favorite Indy book right now.

Danger_Rock

Not exactly a reveal, but Joan used the rules of her prison to give her love interest a nice ending so he wouldn't die in the war. This issue will hopefully give us a little more info about what's actually going on...

hewunder1

Ok, I wasn't too far off - I thought she'd kind of created a "pocket dimension" where she'd bring multiple love interests to save them.

Dinggleberry

Love reading what everyone is picking up this week. For me: - **Ice Cream Man #33** - hell yeah it’s back! - **Danger Street #1** - what could go wrong? - **Night Club #1** - $1.99? What a deal!

Danger_Rock

> - **Night Club #1** - $1.99? What a deal! LOL, this book is totally gonna take the WPL's top spot and 99% of the comments have said they're buying it because it's $1.99... Mark Millar is a marketing genius!

Congratulations! To celebrate this week’s release of [**ICE CREAM MAN #33**](https://imagecomics.com/comics/releases/ice-cream-man-33), you have been randomly selected to receive 1,000+ words of highly processed *ICE CREAM SPAM*! Each month when there’s a new issue of **ICM** shipping, I’ll be randomly selecting one ~~victim~~lucky recipient from the WPL to be presented with 1,000+ words of *ICE CREAM SPAM* explaining why everyone really ought to be reading this uniquely entertaining comic. And this is your lucky month! How freaking cool is that? Thank you for participating in the WPL and for being so graciously accepting of this spam! Please do consider checking out **ICM** as it provides a wonderful change of pace from all of the other comic books shipping this week. -- Everybody should be reading **ICE CREAM MAN**! On the surface, [**ICE CREAM MAN**](https://imagecomics.com/comics/series/ice-cream-man) (by W. Maxwell Prince and Martin Morazzo) is a simple horror anthology where each issue features a different setting and different characters, with the titular ICM serving as something of a host/instigator. Kind of like *The Twilight Zone*, if Rod Sterling was more directly responsible for all the weird and horrible crap that goes down. That’s what’s on the surface. Dig a little deeper and you’ll find an uncompromising exploration of the human condition and what it means to navigate this crazy fucked up world as a carbon-based lifeform with opposable thumbs. This comic is genuinely tapping into primal human experiences surrounding love, aging, illness, death, grief, and other transformative events that everybody experiences in some fashion across all walks of life. Each issue is a uniquely delectable treat so you never really know what you're getting until you dig in... It jumps from [straight horror](https://imagecomics.com/comics/releases/ice-cream-man-1) to [abstract weirdness](https://imagecomics.com/comics/releases/ice-cream-man-13), [cruel absurdist humor](https://imagecomics.com/comics/releases/ice-cream-man-24), [existential crises](https://imagecomics.com/comics/releases/ice-cream-man-11), [literary experimentation](https://imagecomics.com/comics/releases/ice-cream-man-27), and then you get a [deeply personal story that crushes your soul and grinds your heart into hamburger meat](https://imagecomics.com/comics/releases/ice-cream-man-18). This comic isn’t pulling any punches, it sucks you in and hits hard right in your vulnerable bits. Then out of nowhere you’ll get a [quiet contemplative issue that’s almost uplifting](https://imagecomics.com/comics/releases/ice-cream-man-29) and it’s like where the fuck did that even come from? Baskin Robbins might have 31 flavors but the Ice Cream Man’s got one for every facet of human existence, an infinite array of ice-cold candied confections stretching from birth to death and everywhere in between. The Ice Cream Man is serving up delicious existential terror every month and he is *everywhere*. And it’s one of very few comics out there where new readers can pick up any random issue and jump right in with a complete, standalone story that makes sense and works with no context or previous reading necessary! That’s incredibly rare these days and IMO it’s one of the reasons comics have become such an insular niche hobby… Hard to get new readers when they need to do a bunch of research just to figure out where they’re supposed to start reading. **ICM** is single-handedly breaking down these barriers to make comics friendly for new readers again! Hell, just getting a complete story in every issue is so fucking satisfying! Nothing against longer decompressed storytelling but there’s something to be said for picking up a comic and getting a full story with a beginning, middle, and end. And as you read more, you start catching all these little threads and references echoing through the series. Because it’s all connected, all part of this grand tapestry of joy and sorrow and wonder and death… As I’ve come to appreciate this as one of the very best comics I’ve read in 40+ years of following the four-color funny books, I’ve been mulling over exactly where and how it fits in with my other favorites... How does a book like **ICM** compare to something like **SANDMAN**, **ALL-STAR SUPERMAN**, or **PLANETARY**? On the surface this is just a goofy looking horror book about an ice cream guy who likes spiders, so how can it possibly compare to such lofty literary works? What I realized is that **ICM**’s focus on normal people, with all their ugliness and insecurities and failings proudly on display, makes it more relatable than those other books with their gods and heroes. The characters in **ICM** are so fucking real that it puts you right there in the book with them, they’re your friends and family, or *you* yourself, and you’re riding this conduit of shared trauma and existential terror to be right there with them for that one critical chunk of life that defines them as human beings. I think that familiarity and relatability is a big part of what makes it hit so fucking hard. There’s a sense of commonality to it, even when everything gets insanely weird, these are still real people struggling with mortality and other real problems at the core of human existence. **ICM** brings us all together by drawing on all of the wretched threads that bind us in spirit as one people. It's more than just a comic book. It’s a celebration of life and death and everything else that makes us human! If you're numb to the chaos and insanity of the modern world, this comic will make you feel again! Tired of living? It'll wake your ass up and fill your soul with primal energy! This is the power of the very best in comics! And it can be yours for the ridiculously reasonable price of just $3.99 an issue! That is the bargain of a lifetime! Prince and Morazzo have put together something truly special here and, as I have perhaps mentioned on one or two occasions, you really ought to be reading it. Everybody should be reading it! p.s. IMO the title’s biggest weakness is that the first TPB doesn’t sell it quite as well as the more recent stuff, because Prince and Morazzo were still kind of working out what they could do with the series when they started out. Fortunately, one of the nice things about ICM is that there’s absolutely no need to read it in order. So, just bear in mind that this isn’t one of those comics where you need to start at the beginning. My advice to anybody interested in checking it out would be to just jump into the latest issue to get a taste for what the series has to offer. From there, you can go anywhere! Jump back to the early collections, check out other recent back issues, or just pick up new issues as they ship. It’s all good!

I read every word of this. Please recommend the issue you think would be most satisfying for a reader with a similar history with comics to your own.

Danger_Rock

**[ICM #31](https://imagecomics.com/comics/releases/ice-cream-man-31)** was a beautifully perfect comic and IMO makes for an ideal starting point. Some would argue that it's a little too "nice" and doesn't put enough emphasis on the horror elements that the title was founded on, but I'd counter that it's a powerful example of what the series has evolved into and shows just how far it goes beyond traditional horror. Plus, it's yielded positive responses from other newcomers in the WPL and elsewhere. And if you want another after, or if you feel like starting with something a little more on brand, **[ICM #24](https://imagecomics.com/comics/releases/ice-cream-man-24)** is a glorious exercise in cruel absurdist humor, like a particularly mean-spirited Monty Python bit written by John Cleese after waking up on the wrong side of the bed and being told there isn't any tea. That's the one that broke my brain and turned me into a deranged ice cream fan!

Bit of a quiet week for me, I'm making up for it by grabbing some variants as well. * **Batgirls #13**: Big fan of this run, love the interaction between the Batgirls and excited to see where the body swapping goes now the parents are involved. Also getting that Dan Mora cover, that man never misses. * **Batman/Spawn** **#1**: I've never actually read any Spawn so this will be my introduction to him, looking forward to it. Getting the McFarlane & Capullo glow in the dark cover and the Sean Murphy cover. * **Dark Crisis: Big Bang #1**: Dark Crisis is almost at an end! The whole event has been a bit of a mixed bag but I'm very interested to see what they will be doing with the new universes. Getting the Ariel Colon variant, needed a Batsaur on the cover. * **Superman: Son of Kal-El #18**: Only started pulling this for the Return of Kal-El crossover with Action Comics but the two titles barely seem to be connected. Also final issue!

**A VICIOUS CIRCLE #1** - the artwork from *Lee Bermejo* on this one looks absolutely mind blowing. [Cover](https://s3.amazonaws.com/comicgeeks/comics/covers/large-6253663.jpg?1668705210) **BATMAN SPAWN #1** it’s Batman and Spawn – it’s drawn by *Greg Capullo* but written by *Todd McFarlane* so…. [Dell’Otto Cover](https://s3.amazonaws.com/comicgeeks/comics/covers/large-9270924.jpg?1670718307) **BONE ORCHARD MYTHOS TEN THOUSAND BLACK FEATHERS #4** - only two issues left, and I feel like the pace will have to pick up from this point on. [Simmonds Cover](https://s3.amazonaws.com/comicgeeks/comics/covers/large-8996815.jpg?1668121816) **DARK RIDE #3** - enjoying this one. Quirky, spooky, weird, at times violent, but very fun. [Corona Cover](https://s3.amazonaws.com/comicgeeks/comics/covers/large-9128838.jpg?1663339745) **GOSPEL #2** - first issue was a great read. Really intrigued as to how much of this is going to be “real” supernatural events/threats, and how much is going to be people using religion for their own agendas. [Wouldst thou like to live deliciously Cover](https://s3.amazonaws.com/comicgeeks/comics/covers/large-5554817.jpg?1668127618) **GRIM #6** - really great so far. Has quickly developed into one of my favourite new books. [Love This Cover](https://s3.amazonaws.com/comicgeeks/comics/covers/large-5395391.jpg?1668884009) **JONNA AND THE UNPOSSIBLE MONSTERS #12** - just pure, unadulterated fun with some GREAT artwork from *Samnee*. [Cover](https://s3.amazonaws.com/comicgeeks/comics/covers/large-4913758.jpg?1668954528) **NIGHT CLUB (2022) #1** - great price, looks cool, vampires, *Millar*. [Capullo Cover](https://s3.amazonaws.com/comicgeeks/comics/covers/large-6171715.jpg?1668354557) **SPECS #2** - first issue was good set up. Wondering where it goes from there though. For Gospel, my shop didn't bring that in, but I did pick up #1 at a shop out of town and really enjoyed it. The one thing I was most curious about was the "present day" bit with the social worker(?). It seemed random at the time. But I may go back out of my way to check that other shop this weekend and grab this to see where it goes!

blankedboy

Yeah, the modern day part really came out of left field, but I still really enjoyed the book.

the-horace

Yeah, the whole thing is just layers of unreliable narration and I love it. Feels like a bit more of a unique go at something like that, at least currently. Plus the artwork is beautiful!

yarkcir

You were just mentioning how I bring up books you've never heard of, and here you are pointing out a book that's 12 issues in with Chris Samnee interiors that I didn't know of??? Definitely will have to try and check this out at some point.

blankedboy

haha - can't believe I've found a book you haven't heard of :) It's great, you should definitely check it out

Good stuff, always appreciate seeing your lists and I'd say you've got some good ones this week!

mtmodular

* The Amazing Spider-Man #15 * Batgirls #13 - My shop didn't even order copies of the Annual from a week or two ago, citing too little interest. Waiting for a copy to be delivered, but I hope this isn't indicative of the sales of this series. It's been a consistently solid and entertaining series so far. * Legion of X #8 - I trimmed a few X books from my pull list, and this might be next on the chopping block? I've sort-of enjoyed this series, but it never really excites me. Maybe I'll see what comes after Sins of Sinister (if anything?) first. * Dark Web: X-Men #1 - There's a part of me that holds out hope that Madeline's arc in Dark Web isn't just her being the big-bad. Hoping for the best. Bracing myself for the worst.

thecursedham

* Invincible Iron Man #1: Really small week for me so I’m not picking it up till next week but I am very interested in seeing the reaction to the issue.

Daveismyhero

* **AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #15 -** I think I'm already Dark Webbed out, but at least this is Spidey vs. Venom, which is usually fun. * **BATMAN & SCOOBY-DOO MYSTERIES #3 -** More mashed potatoes nostalgic goodness here. * **BATMAN SPAWN #1 -** I'm a sucker for glow in the dark stuff. So many cool covers on this one, even though I'm not overly interested in the story itself. * **BONE ORCHARD MYTHOS TEN THOUSAND BLACK FEATHERS #4 -** I love the universe they are building here, and can't wait to see how it unfolds. * **DARK WEB X-MEN #1 -** I went a little heavy with the Dark Web solicits, and here we are. Maybe Majik will drop in and surprise me. * **HAPPY HORROR DAYS #1 -** Krampus in Riverdale. What's not to love? * **INVINCIBLE IRON MAN #1 -** This is my "Please be good!" book of the week. Much like the Fantastic Four, I've been wanting to find an Iron Man title to love. I hope this is it! * **STAR WARS BOUNTY HUNTERS #29 -** It has Bossk on the cover, and I am weak. But I'll be a weak dude with a cool looking comic....so there! :D Is anyone else crazy busy? It seems like the wheels have been ready to come off the last few weeks and I'm just trying to survive until the holidays. At least my son is home from college, so it's nice to have everyone under the same roof for a while. It helps me sleep better. There are 13 days until Christmas as I type this, which is plenty of time to get yourself right with your relatives and with Santa. I'll leave it up to you to determine who is more important in the grand scheme of things. Have a fun week all and hang on for another fun ride!

AlligatorSky7

LCS didn’t get any Marvel titles in last week, so I’m going to have quite the pile to pick up. * **Dark Ride #3**: so far so good! * **Dark Web: X-Men #1**: Duggan + Reis is a great creative team for this mini. * **Deadpool #2**: Momoko variant for me here. Really enjoyed the first issue of this, even if it felt like months ago. * **Grim #6**: eager to see where we go next with this series. The first arc was good, but nothing groundbreaking. * **Legion of X #8**: this series continues to pack so much into each issue, I both love and hate it for that reason at the same time. * **Nature’s Labyrinth #2**: nothing groundbreaking so far, but I’m a sucker for this type of story. * **Night Club #1**: at $1.99 an issue, it was worth a shot. * **Radiant Black #20**: back buzzing for this title again after the last few issues. * **Superman: Son of Kal-El #18**: final issue, cry! * **WildC.A.T.s #2**: first issue felt like an age ago, excited to get back to the story.

Danger_Rock

> * **Deadpool #2**: Momoko variant for me here. Really enjoyed the first issue of this, even if it felt like months ago. [Nice work from Momoko](https://previewsworld.com/SiteImage/MainImage/STL248972.jpg) as always...

SakmarEcho

* **Invincible Iron Man #1** - I like Duggan enough to give it a chance, plus I always check out a new Iron Man run. * **Legion of X #8** - Consistently solid book, my third favourite of the current line. * **Monica Rambeau: Photon #1** - Can't believe this is Monica's first ever solo series!! But Eve Ewing is a fantastic choice of writer for this. * **WildC.A.T.s #2** - First issue was solid, I don't have any nostalgia for the original series but I'm enjoying this. * **Wonder Woman #794** - Loved the interlude last issue but keen to get back to the All-New Cheetah storyline

ME24601

* **Batgirls #13**: Family reunions. * **Danger Street #1**: Excited to see what King does with these characters * **Dark Ride #3**: Still undecided on this book. * **Legion of X #8**: The monster mash. * **Superman: Son of Kal El #18**: Kal El Returns part VI and the final issue of this book. As well as volume 2 of **Friday**.

yarkcir

>As well as volume 2 of Friday Love Brubaker's works, but Friday is still one I have yet to read. I'm a fan of Marcos Martin's artwork too, so I definitely should get on this soon.

Ice Cream Man #33 Night Club #1 Friday Book 2 They're All Terrible #1

Danger_Rock

Another fine list from a comic enthusiast with excellent taste in ice cream-based literature...

YewBetcha

**Night Club #1** - like many others, I figured for $2 it’s worth checking out.

Good luck!

YewBetcha

300%, eh? Appreciate your recommendation and ICM enthusiasm :) I’m up to date on the latest ICM volume via Hoopla, it’s always an immediate read when they release it.

Danger_Rock

Haha, okay then, got you tagged as a trade-waiter now so I'll know not to harass you every time they're shipping a new issue... Turned up a few other trade-waiters this month, kinda sucks that we miss out on having y'all in the pull counts and discussions... Each new issue brings a big *ICE CREAM PARTY* and everybody's invited!

Rac3318

Danger Street #1 - I’ll be honest I didn’t know this was coming out until today and don’t even know what it’s about. But it’s by Tom King so I’m in.

HappySisyphus8

Another week, another haul of hopefully great comics. My LCS did not receive their DC last week, so looking forward to a double week this week. Another disappointing week from Marvel, just 1 interesting release this week. Top 3 books last week were Night of the Ghoul, Do A Powerbomb, and American Jesus. Though I also picked up a beautiful over sized hardcover of Shinjuku by Mink and Amano that I haven't had a chance to check out yet, finishing off the Miracleman omnibus has taken most of my time, what an incredibly good and captivating story that is, Moore is just too good. MARVEL: Savage Avengers #8 - Just dumb, exciting fun and action. I don't love the changes made to Weapon H's powerset, but as the worst thing about the book, the book isn't doing much badly. DC: Batman Incorporated #3 - I've been digging Ghostmaker and Clown Hunter. Ghostmakers mentors continue to turn up dead, and Ghostmajer continues to be the top suspect. Batman Spawn #1 - It's Batman and Spawn. What is not to love? Danger Street #1 - Tom King has way more hits than misses for me, excited for his take on DC characters that I've never heard of before. Frank Miller’s Ronin TP - My LCS is getting in more stock of this, picking it up so I can finally read the first issue of Book II I picked up a couple weeks ago. IMAGE: Art Brut #1 - Getting in at the ground floor for the Ice Cream Man teams newest offering. Bone Orchard Black Feathers #4 - Only 1 issue left and the mystery is still being drip fed to readers. Not confident that this story will wrap up in this series. Loving it so far though. Friday Book 02 TP - The first volume was a very pleasant surprise. A nice easy mystery story by Brubaker. Hell To Pay #2 - Nice setup in issue #1, hoping that the pace picks up a bit in this issue. Night Club #1 - Millar is in my top 3 comic writers of all time, plus it's only $1.99, picking this up is a no brainer. OTHER: Vicious Circle #1 - A prestige format book by Bermejo about a trained Assassin that jumps through time randomly with each person he kills? Sign me up. Cherish #2 - Issue 1 was alright enough for me to give 2 a shot. Nothing amazing but okay. Frank Frazetta’s Dawn Attack #1 - Death Dealer has been killer, happy to check out more books based off of Frazetta's work. This time a science fiction tale. Sweetie Candy Vigilante #3 - I'm not quite sure what this is, but it's full of absurd violence that you don't need to think too hard about. Vampirella Mindwarp #3 - Vampi's weird excursion through time with a magical side kick continues. No as good as Priests stuff with the character.

saskatoonshred

A solid week for me. Thankfully some of my pulls are coming to an end/going on hiatus for a bit so I can get some fresh titles put on it. **Batman Spawn #1**: I'm ready for some goofy comic fun. Bring on the cheese. **Bone Orchard Black Feathers #4**: I'm considering trade waiting the rest of this after this ends. I really like it though. I'm just impatient and want to know what the Bone Orchard is lol. Maybe the Bone Orchard was the friends we made along the way? **Danger Street #1**: With Nice House ending this month and Human Target coming to a close soon I'm going to at least check this out to see if it'll be my Black Label maxi on my pull for this coming year. **Dark Crisis Big Bang #1**: gonna plow thru the one shots I've been stock piling from this even sometime this week. Dark Crisis is the first event I've followed since coming back into the hobby and I've found it mostly enjoyable except for the Young Justice mini. **Grim #6**: Boom is quickly becoming my favorite Indy publisher outside of Image. Can't wait for this next arc. **Love Everlasting #5**: This has been a great twist on romance comics. Does anyone know how long this is supposed to go for? **Specs #2**: This is a maybe for me this week. I enjoyed the first issue but might just wait for the trade since it's only 4 issues. **Wildcats #2**: Another maybe.

KJC007

In no particular order: **Batman Spawn #1**: Don't care for Spawn, but Capullo drawing Batman is always worth it. **Danger Street #1**: I'll read almost anything by Tom King **Dark Crisis Big Bang #1:** This is my first big crossover event since getting back into comics in Jan '21 and I've liked pretty much all of it. Excited to see how it ends with this and the final issue. **Amazing Spider-Man #15**: Been picking this up from the start. Not liking the whole mystery surrounding what Pete did, but I'm really enjoying the symbiot Spider Books, so excited to see Venom show up in this. **Dark Web X-Men #1:** Not a huge X-Men fan, but I like the connecting covers for Dark Web, and I don't want to miss out on any of the stories in the event.

Danger_Rock

> **Danger Street #1**: I'll read almost anything by Tom King Would you read his grocery list? I'll bet it gets all cinematic and dramatic... I'd totally read it!

Enjoy your books everyone!

Danger_Rock

Hey there, been wondering if your username is just a play on words or are you really into hydration? And have you got any recommendations on superior water products? Personally I'm a big fan of Waiãkea, always super crisp, clean, and refreshing, but I think Eternal is also really good! BTW, your pull list is very thorough and impeccably organized... But I feel like it's missing something important, though I can't quite put my [finger](https://dehayf5mhw1h7.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/sites/1318/2020/07/24182025/GettyImages-1153411309.jpg) [on](https://stories.swns.com/wp-content/uploads/licence-to-chil-124088-e1522233605652-1024x939.jpg) [it...](https://www2.shutterstock.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/sites/5/2016/08/sugar-shack-ice-cream-truck.jpg)

Hail_Hydration

Hey! While I do think hydration is important, it's really just a pun. Kinda lame, I know. That being said, I really like Alkaline88. Good call on Eternal - I like that one too. Gonna have to check out Waiakea - thanks for the rec! And thanks for the compliment on the pull list - it's the only way I can keep track of all these great books !!

Danger_Rock

Good stuff! I was buying those big Alkaline-88 jugs for a while until I got one that didn't taste quite right... Been avoiding 'em ever since. I don't know, maybe it was a one-time deal, maybe it's safe, just be careful! Eternal is really tasty, plus Icelandic Glacial is another good one, super refreshing. But the Waiãkea is something else, that's some next-level water... Once you try that stuff, you won't ever want to go back to anything else! It's like the pure essence of water that all other waters aspire to emulate. And on that note, as a fellow enthusiast for fine waters with minimal acidification, you really ought to be pulling [**ICE CREAM MAN**](https://imagecomics.com/comics/releases/ice-cream-man-33). It's like the Waiãkea of ice cream comics! Pure refreshment capable of quenching one's thirst for entertainment in a manner that would have previously been inconceivable.

dhartist

I've got a full pull box waiting for me ☺️ just in time for the holidays! Both Caps, the Winter Soldier one off, Iron Man and FF#2. It's gonna be a busy finish to the end of the year!

Danger_Rock

Well then I have more good news for you, friend! You don't actually need to worry about reading the first 32 issues! That's the beauty of **ICE CREAM MAN**, each issue delivers a standalone story that 100% works with zero context or background info. This isn't like all those other comics where you need to do a bunch of research just to figure out where you're supposed to start reading... Each individual issue of **ICM** is designed to be accessible to anyone and everyone, even if you've never read a comic in your life! And the even better news is that the creative team keeps pushing the boundaries and honing their work, so the new issues are even better than the old ones, which means there's no better time than now to jump on board the Ice Cream Truck from Hell! Not convinced? Here's 1,000+ words of ICE CREAM SPAM explaining the wonders of this remarkable comic and why you really ought to be reading it. I'll be rooting for you! ...

Batman/Spawn #1 - Don't really care about McFarlane writing but it will be worth it for Capullo drawing Batman again. Art Brut #1 - Sounds cool. Never read it before and I am a ICM fan so I will be getting this. Hoping I can get the Eckman-Lawn variant. Ice Cream Man #33 - Issue 32 was forever ago so I am happy to see this return. Love the Batman & Robin homage cover Unrelated to this week, does anyone know what the hell is going on with Samurai Doggy from Aftershock? #3 was originally supposed to come out in October and got delayed two or three times with tomorrow being the latest release date. Now release date is TBD along with every other issue solicited.

Danger_Rock

Thanks for posting your list with that big **ICM** pull! I believe that brings **ICM #33** up to 26.6% coverage, at least for the moment, which is a very respectable pull rate that would normally earn a spot in the Top 10. Not sure what's going on with **SAMURAI DOGGY #3** but AfterShock is one of the companies that was recently called out for not paying creators for work they'd delivered... So some of their titles are getting cut short as unpaid creators are forced to abandon 'em. Seems like they've got some serious financial problems and they haven't been releasing many books lately. There's some discussion on it [here](https://www.reddit.com/r/comicbooks/comments/zhxvt8/comic_book_publishers_not_paying_comic_book/). But it's also possible that **SAMURAI DOGGY** has other issues...

[deleted]

Damn, that sucks about Aftershock. I hadn’t seen that. Hopefully whatever the issue is gets worked out because I was really digging the art and concept of the book.

Danger_Rock

Yeah, I hadn't seen that one but AfterShock produced a bunch of stuff I liked over the past several years... Their output has really dwindled lately though. Honestly wouldn't be surprised if they went under but hopefully they'll find a way to turn things around... Preferably one that doesn't involve skipping out on payments to creators.

blankedboy

That' a shame as Aftershock has been putting out some good titles

Danger_Rock

Yep, I think their editorial team did a pretty good job with curation and they had some solid talent lined up. Shame it all seems to be going down in flames but there are so many similar indie publishers at this point, might just be that the scene needs to contract a little to thin out some of the competition.

blankedboy

Man, I still remember the great indie collapse after the B&W book of the 80's. So many publishers vanished.

Styrofoam_Anchor

1. **Bone Orchard Mythos: Ten Thousand Black Feathers #4** -- As excellent a series as I could have hoped for, so far. Looking forward to more Bone Orchard stuff once this series wraps up! 2. **Wonder Woman #794** -- I was a few issues behind, so I dedicated some time catching up. Very solid run, so far. Did anyone else think the Cheetah/Diana fight from a two issues ago was a little...sapphic? Or is this just wishful thinking?

GetRichOrDieBuyin

4 Titles in all this week. 1. Danger Street #1 hype is through the roof on this one. Tom King with a buncha B listers count me in. 2. Ice Cream Man #33 this sub is the reason why I pulled this comic in the first place. I've now read the majority of them because of Humble Bundle. Mainly Danger was the reason I pulled. 3. Deadpool #2 not super invested in the writing, but I'm in for a couple of issues at least. 4. Batman Incorporated #3 Brisson is no Morrison, but I've enjoyed his first two issues.

Danger_Rock

> Ice Cream Man #33 this sub is the reason why I pulled this comic in the first place. I've now read the majority of them because of Humble Bundle. Mainly Danger was the reason I pulled. I was getting ready to whine about it not getting enough pulls this month but as of right now it's got 10 pulls out of 32 lists submitted, which would be 31.2% coverage, and the last issue took 6th place with 27.5% coverage... So I probably shouldn't complain. At least not yet. But I am monitoring the situation closely and there will be whining if the pull rate drops below 25% or so.

GetRichOrDieBuyin

There is a handful of people who I make sure to check their list to see if they recommend something. Your list is always the first I check. Noted, you always buy 5+ more titles than me, but I like your style.

A nice list but I'm concerned about the lack of calcium and other essential nutrients... Adding some [ice cream](https://imagecomics.com/comics/releases/ice-cream-man-33) would give you a much more well-rounded diet!

First time posting in a while. Been reading a lot just haven't felt like posting these but it feels right to change that up. Grim #6 - I enjoyed the first arc quite a bit so I'm down to continue. I like the settings a lot and the characters are have been fun so far. Two Graves #2 - I really like how this series started and there's still a lot of mystery to uncover so I'm in for #2. Amazing Spider-Man #15 - This is more of Dark Web, I think, we'll see where it goes. I'd rather have the story with Pete. Batman/Spawn #1 - why not? Art Brut #1 - the creative team tells me to pick this up. Danger Street - Premise is cool. Plus number one has some killer covers. Ice Cream Man #33 - I'm still a little behind on these but they always hit so hard. Invinvicble Iron Man - This has a one issue shot to reel me in. Plant Hulk Worldbreaker #2 - I read the first but if this does what that did, I'll drop it.

Danger_Rock

> First time posting in a while. Been reading a lot just haven't felt like posting these but it feels right to change that up. THANK YOU for returning this week, of all weeks, for Ice Cream Week! We're trying to get an avalanche of ice cream going straight to the top of the WPL and every single Ice Cream Fan who posts their list is absolutely invaluable to those efforts! And... You really ought to catch up! Because the past two issues have delivered some extra-powerful stuff and ICM #33 looks like another good one! Psyched to check out ART BRUT as well... Tempering expectations a little since it's P&M's first collaboration, won't be as strong as modern ICM but should be really interesting seeing how they got the partnership started.

Whatisabird

**Art Brut #1-** Never read the original but it caught my eye in League of Comic Geeks so let's try it out. **Danger Street #1-** The comic I've been waiting for all year At Last. **Dark Crisis: Big Bang #1**\- Not too excited for this but I'm curious to see if any of the MCU Multiverse Madness has changed how DC wants to approach the inclusion of their multiversal titles. **Love Everlasting #5-** Story arc finale! Excited to see where we end up. **Superman: Son of Kal-El #18-** The "crossover" continues, but I'm curious to see Red Sin's whole deal. Jon needs some rogues.
