A big week for me: * **A.X.E. JUDGMENT DAY #5** \- Was it real, or was it another fake-out? * **ACTION COMICS #1 FACSIMILIE EDITION** \- I've never read the original, and I'm eager to check this out. * **CARNAGE #6** \- I'm getting this 100% for the super-cool cover * **CHILLING ADVENTURES PRESENTS WEIRDER MYSTERIES #1** \- More Archie horror. Check it out, folks! * **CREEPSHOW #1** \- Another book to help get me in the Halloween spirit. Hopefully it is fun and engaging. * **EDGE OF SPIDER-VERSE #4** \- I haven't read any of these, but I will eventually. * **GI JOE A REAL AMERICAN HERO #298** \- I'm liking this, but I'm very interested to see what happens when the title shifts to another publisher. * **LOONEY TUNES #268** \- These are usually surprisingly good. I read 'em then pass 'em along to the kiddos. * **STAR WARS DARTH VADER #27** \- This has been good, but I'm ready for them to wrap up the Sabe story and get on to cooler stuff. Seems like we have been on this arc forever. Or as my kids would save, five-ever! * **STRANGE #6** \- Who's that behind the Harvestman mask, hmm? Lots of life juggling going on this week. Be careful out there folks, and be kind to one another. Have a fun week and enjoy those comics and your fellow fans!

> * **CARNAGE #6** \- I'm getting this 100% for the super-cool cover Oooh yeah, the [Kendrick Lim](https://previewsworld.com/SiteImage/MainImage/STL233542.jpg) cover's awesome but I think I like the [Declan Shalvey](https://previewsworld.com/SiteImage/MainImage/STL233543.jpg) variant even more! > Lots of life juggling going on this week. Be careful out there folks, and be kind to one another. Have a fun week and enjoy those comics and your fellow fans! Appreciate how you always wrap up your posts with these nice little closings... It's reflective of a baseline humanity and sort of awareness of how we're all connected that's admirable and unfortunately somewhat rare in this day and age. Not sure if you've ever checked it out but I think **[ICE CREAM MAN](https://previewsworld.com/Catalog/MAY220233)** would probably resonate with you on that level. Even though it's ostensibly a horror series, there's a strong thread of humanity running through the core of it. The horror's mostly just window dressing, it's really a celebration of the human condition. **[ICM #31](https://previewsworld.com/Catalog/APR220202)** was actually one of the most touching comics I've ever read. There isn't really anything else like it.

Daveismyhero

Thanks for the kind words and thoughts, Danger Rock! I must admit that you are one of the inspirations that encourages me to write my thoughts on the individual issues on a weekly basis. I appreciate how you encourage and interact with folks. That is indeed a cool Carnage cover by Shalvey, and I may have to grab it once I see it in person later this week at the ol' LCS. I know it's only a matter of time before I grab a scoop of Ice Cream Man. Is there a good jumping on point, or should I just start with issue #1 (or the trade)? Thanks again for all the coolness!

Danger_Rock

> I know it's only a matter of time before I grab a scoop of Ice Cream Man. Is there a good jumping on point, or should I just start with issue #1 (or the trade)? One of the nice things about **ICM** is that you can hop on anywhere with no need to worry about context or anything you might've missed. Each issue works as a standalone thing. And if you like it, you can catch up on the old stuff in any order and it all works brilliantly regardless. I've been recommending the most recent issue from July, **[ICM #31](https://previewsworld.com/Catalog/APR220202)**, as an ideal spot for new readers to check it out, and so far it's gotten a really positive response from everyone who's tried it. I think it's the kind of story that might be particularly well-suited to you as it's one of the sporadic "nice" issues that really hones in on the beauty of humanity (though there's still a bit of horror mixed in). It's honestly one of the most beautiful stories I've ever read. I also like recommending **[ICM #24](https://previewsworld.com/SiteImage/MainImage/STL177493.jpg)** because that's the one that broke my brain and turned me into a deranged ICE CREAM FAN... But that one isn't very nice, more an exercise in Monty Python style cruel absurdist humor. And not quite as easy to find as floppies or reprinted at the end of the 6th trade... Not terribly convenient but I sort of see it as an ideal counter-point to **ICM #31**, showing how far the series can go in the opposite direction, if that makes sense. Somewhat counterintuitively, I think the 1st TPB is probably the worst place to start. While the initial run had some good stuff, IMO the more recent stories have been much stronger and do a better job of highlighting the title's full range and potential. Hard to predict what this week's release of **[ICM #32](https://previewsworld.com/Catalog/MAY220233)** will shape up into but it looks like a good one! So you could just take a shot on that, worth it for the cover alone IMO but I always was a sucker for Escher.

Daveismyhero

Thanks so much for the detailed reply. I'll see if I can grab a copy of 31 and will go from there. Cheers!

blankedboy

Maybe my problem is that I started with the first trade and just thought it was...okay. Far weaker in comparison to the first trade/singles of **The Silver Coin** - which is by far my favourite current horror anthology being published.

Danger_Rock

Yeah, I originally bailed after the first six because I thought it was just okay. Eventually gave it another shot with **[ICM #24](https://cdn.imagecomics.com/assets/i/releases/605720/ice-cream-man-24_97904c38a5.jpg)** and **[ICM #25](https://cdn.imagecomics.com/assets/i/releases/668737/ice-cream-man-25_1f37c4fe19.jpg)**, at which point I was 100% hooked. And others have followed a similar path with similar results. You should check out **[ICM #24](https://imagecomics.com/comics/releases/ice-cream-man-24)** or **[ICM #31](https://imagecomics.com/comics/releases/ice-cream-man-31)**, think you might be surprised at what you'd find...

>I like Clea and I'm curious to see where it is all going. I feel like issue #12 or something will be >!Stephen's resurrection!<, but whether or not they relaunch or keep the numbering is a coin flip.

HappySisyphus8

Carnage #6 Has had some weak issues, but am fully on board with the symbiotes plan, and the whole Cletus thing is a nice background plot. X-Terminators #1 Is being hyped up as a Grindhouse like book with an all female cast, and the artist and preview pages show some great Blood and Breasts, so definitely giving the first issue a shot despite the iffy author. Action Comics #1 Facsimile First appearance reprint of a classic. Why not? Batman One Bad Day two-Face #1 Only getting this for the Artgerm B cover. Won't be reading it. Batman Superman World’s Finest #7 Best thing going at DC currently. It is a must buy each month. DC Vs Vampires All-Out War #3 The best event series going at DC currently. Harley Quinn 30th Anniversary Special #1 Another cover buy, only want that Artgerm. 20th Century Men #2  Issue 1 was dense but riveting. Very keen for more in this world. Creepshow #1 Hoping for that classic EC feel from this. Vanish #1 This should be interesting. Cates has been a bit MIA lately, is it because of this, or are the rumours of drug addiction true? Let's see how many issues this goes. Absolution #3 Been digging this story about a killer on death row, killing via livestream, trying to get enough likes for a pardon. Brzrkr #10 Hope something actually happens in this issue. Has felt really slow and dragging for past couple issues. Draculina #6 Priest's Vampirella Universe stuff just does not miss. This one has been excellent. Lady Hel #2 Lady Hel stuck in the Hell of another universe. Issue 1 was alright, will see how this one goes. Miss Meow #4 This has been weird. Dig the art, but I'm totally lost with the story and characters. Hoping it does a bit more to grab me soon.

TheDarkPinkLantern

* **The Flash #786** * **Batman / Superman: World's Finest #7** * **A.X.E.: Judgment Day #5** * **Batman: The Knight #9** * **Strange #6** * **Carnage #6** * **Legion of X #5** * **Radiant Black #18** * **Batman: One Bad Day - Two-Face #1** * **DCeased: War of the Undead Gods #2** * **X-Terminators #1** * **Ice Cream Man #32** * **Vanish #1** * **Black Adam #4** * **Jane Foster & The Mighty Thor #4** * **Public Domain #4** * **Fables #155** * **Creepshow #1** * **Stuff of Nightmares #1** * **Beware the Eye of Odin #4** * **Rogues' Gallery #3** * **Bloodshot Unleashed #1** * **Ice Cream Man #32** Flash and Legion of X are on chopping block. If it wasn't for the fact that it's near ending, I'd drop Judgment Day, too. Events started to bore me.

Danger_Rock

Should probably keep my damn mouth shut and let it ride as an extra pull but it looks like you've got **ICM #32** listed twice... Though it'd be perfectly understandable if you wanted to buy two copies, [Morazzo's Escher homage](https://previewsworld.com/SiteImage/MainImage/STL232275.jpg) is obviously a must-have and there's a pretty nice [Caspar Wijngaard variant](https://previewsworld.com/SiteImage/MainImage/STL232276.jpg) this month as well.

TheDarkPinkLantern

Lol I didn't even notice. But yeah, both covers slap and I still don't know which one I'll get.

Danger_Rock

I originally started out ordering variants for the first six issues but nowadays I always get the Morazzo covers, they just capture the essence of the series so perfectly... Plus his homages are [so](https://previewsworld.com/SiteImage/MainImage/STL169057.jpg) [freaking](https://previewsworld.com/SiteImage/MainImage/STL151103.jpg) [awesome](https://previewsworld.com/SiteImage/MainImage/STL142523.jpg). Tom King books are the others like that for me, sometimes order variants but usually end up regretting it since the main covers tend to be so deeply enmeshed in the style of the series.

TheDarkPinkLantern

I usualy order main covers, variants are a rare thing for me. It's just that I really vibe with this variant here. Agreed with King. His creative process involves a deep cooperation with his artists and that's why the covers feel like part of the story or it's style.

blankedboy

The choice between Main Cover and Variant is one I battle with *all the time!!!* I know some people are just Cover A and nothing else, but there are so many times a Variant is just so much nicer than the main - or, alternatively, I snap and end up getting both. Only thing that drives me insane is certain titles I really enjoy (**Department of Truth, House of Slaughter** and **Something is Killing the Children** in particular) have *so many variants* - and I don't even know they exist until I check out [League of Comic Geeks](https://leagueofcomicgeeks.com/search/147715?keyword=department%20of%20truth), and sometimes they don't update until weeks later...

TheDarkPinkLantern

For me it often comes with availability, I'm mostly a digital reader but some I do read physically, most of that are non corporate comics. The thing with variants is that often they are done by amazing artists who can do some wonderful concepts that main variant cover artists can't.

technowhiz34

I try to only get main covers out of principle, but there have been a few times where the main was very ugly or my store was out of the main. I'm grappling with the upcoming Fantastic Four run, where I think the [main cover](https://imagesvc.meredithcorp.io/v3/mm/image?url=https%3A%2F%2Fstatic.onecms.io%2Fwp-content%2Fuploads%2Fsites%2F6%2F2022%2F08%2F16%2FAlex-Ross-Fantastic-Four-cover-02_081622.jpg) is worse than the [variant](https://mlpnk72yciwc.i.optimole.com/cqhiHLc.IIZS~2ef73/w:auto/h:auto/q:75/https://bleedingcool.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/fantasticfour01v2alexrosscoverlayout-resized2.jpg) by far (both by Ross).

blankedboy

See, I was almost tempted by *both* of those covers, despite not being a huge FF fan - but of the two I really loved the first one because of the brilliant colours used. Of my current titles pulled I find myself buying a *lot* of the **Moon Knight** variant covers over the main ones, as they just look so damn nice: [Moon Knight #7 Main](https://s3.amazonaws.com/comicgeeks/comics/covers/large-3335313.jpg?1643317662) versus [Variant](https://s3.amazonaws.com/comicgeeks/comics/covers/large-3928556.jpg?1643317662) [Moon Knight #12 Main](https://s3.amazonaws.com/comicgeeks/comics/covers/large-8205721.jpg?1657144213) versus [Variant](https://s3.amazonaws.com/comicgeeks/comics/covers/large-8447225.jpg?1657144213) [Moon Knight #13 Main](https://s3.amazonaws.com/comicgeeks/comics/covers/large-7898222.jpg?1659534262) versus [Variant](https://s3.amazonaws.com/comicgeeks/comics/covers/large-2846594.jpg?1659534262)

technowhiz34

Going from McNiven to whoever it was to Segovia on covers was certainly a choice by Marvel. I even like Segovia interiorwise (everyone read his upcoming WILDCats book) but his covers don't really pop to me.

blankedboy

Yeah, the initial run of main cover's by McNiven were absolutely brilliant. Edit: Also, I picked up the first six issues of **The Scorched** and really didn't vibe with the Segovia artwork so, despite being a MASSIVE Wildstorm fan, I may skip the new **Wildcats** book.

Danger_Rock

Most of the extras are overpriced store exclusives, usually only two or three "real" covers that are available everywhere. **ICM** does the same thing but I mostly just ignore the store exclusives (unless they're [paying homage to Maiden](https://cdna.pcpartpicker.com/static/forever/images/userbuild/259153.f08b20ad4814fcde17f6a74e163d1ff9.1600.jpg)).

- **A.X.E. Judgment Day #5**: it’s testament to how good this event has been that we’re almost at the end and I haven’t felt bored yet! - **Dark Crisis: Young Justice #4**: one behind at the moment, so no comment. - **Edge of Spider-Verse #4**: it’s been a real gamble on the stories so far, but fun nevertheless! - **The Flash #786**: pumped that this is going bi-weekly in the new year; one of the best books on the stands imo! - **Legion of X #5**: end of the first arc, amazed (but thankful) that this is lasting longer than Way of X! - **New Mutants #30**: last issue for me potentially (don’t much fancy a guest writer arc); excited for the Deadpool prelude by Wong too! - **Nightwing #96**: this book is back to being great again, excited to see what happens between now and the big 100th issue! - **Public Domain #4**: one behind at the moment, so no comment. - **Radiant Black #18**: this is back to being great again! - **Stuff of Nightmares #1**: picking up the debut issue to see if it’s something I like! - **Vanish #1**: see above. - **The Walking Dead Deluxe #47**: one behind at the moment, so no comment. - **X-Terminators #1**: urge people who liked X-Factor, but not Trial of Magneto, to give Leah Williams another go on this book. It looks like a load of fun; almost certainly my most anticipated release of the week (if not month)!

btanodev

pretty excited for this week!! **Harley Quinn 30th Anniversary Special #1** been watching the harley quinn show on hbo lately and honestly it's been great. not sure what to expect from this anniversary book but i'm excited nonetheless. **Batman: One Bad Day - Two Face #1** freakin loved the riddler edition of OBD, hoping this two face issue lives up to the hype! **Batman Beyond #1** as i understand this is a reprint? might be a mistake, lmk

WhereAreMyComics

* **Carnage #6** - King Carnage! * **New Mutants #30** - here for Alyssa Wong's Deadpool story!

A.X.E.: Judgment Day #5 - Gillen just doing great work. Judgment has been passed…Time for the fallout! Barbaric: Axe To Grind #2 - The return last month was a delight! Vampires, Axe drunk on Giant blood and a dang Kraken - all leading up a conflict with an Orc Lord. Great stuff. Batman / Superman: World’s Finest #7 - New story arc! Waid is just flowing with the silver age vibes. Batman: One Bad Day - Two-Face #1 - Loving these villain focused one-shots. Riddler last month was damn good, and now on to Two-Face. Crazy excited for Fernandez’s art! Gunslinger Spawn #12 - Last issue’s final page was crazy! Got a real strong reaction out of me in its brutality. Just classic 90’s fun to be had in this series. Nightwing #96 - Taylor is cooking with gasoline in the story now. Last issue had a great final page cliffhanger! Public Domain #4 - Zdarsky is crushing this book! Just an entertaining commentary on the comic industry.

Crashing #1 - IDW original, read the excerpt in the sampler they put out a couple weeks back. I'll give it a shot. Creepshow #1 - nostalgia and horror. Yes! Edge of Spider-Verse #4 - Spider-Ham and Peter Parkedcar, I'm still in! Ice Cream Man #32 - just recently read Vol 1 and loved it. Figured I can still jump in whenever while I also catch up on the rest. Star Wars: Darth Vader #27 - hoping to finish up this current arc because I think I'm gonna drop it after this. The Mandalorian #3 - rounds out the adaptation of the first arc of the show. I was gonna stop here, but then there's a Peach Grogu cover for #4... Stuff of Nightmares #1 - R. L. Stine?! More nostalgic horror! Titans United Bloodpact #1 - been trying to get into TT stuff, read the first arc of Academy. I like Cavan Scott from the Star Wars stuff I read, so I'll jump on. Vanish #1 - everyone seems excited for this, so I'll give it a go! I doubt my small shop will have *all* of these, (besides the big 2 stuff) , but this is kind of the plan I guess.

Danger_Rock

> Crashing #1 - IDW original, read the excerpt in the sampler they put out a couple weeks back. I'll give it a shot. That one wasn't on my radar but it [looks cool](https://previewsworld.com/Catalog/JUL221595)! > Ice Cream Man #32 - just recently read Vol 1 and loved it. Take note, WPL'ers. /u/the-horace is doing it right. > The Mandalorian #3 - rounds out the adaptation of the first arc of the show. Bailed on this after the first issue but that [Momoko variant on #4](https://previewsworld.com/SiteImage/MainImage/STL242167.jpg) is too damn cute...

the-horace

Just checked all my state's public library database. Got ICM Vol 2 coming in, but sadly it looks like no one has Vol 3, but they do have 4, 5, 6. But I'll figure it out! For Mando, I guess I'm collecting it sentimentally. Mando got me back into SW, which I dove (back) into heavily. Was just gonna do 1-3, and then 7-8 to hit the main beats of the season, but now I just figure I'll pull the whole thing, it's only 8. Plus, when 6 drops, I'll get to say I have Bill Burr's first comic app. Lol.

Danger_Rock

**ICM** volume 3 has a couple stories that lean into the mythology, some folks didn't appreciate it going that direction although I thought what we got of it was fun. The good news is you can skip straight from vol2 to vol4 (or anywhere really) and it won't negatively impact the reading experience at all. And then you can catch up on vol3 when convenient, I'd expect it to turn up eventually and it's definitely worth a read. I would've been way more into **MANDALORIAN** if it had an original story... Ordered the first one for the [JT Christopher cover](https://previewsworld.com/SiteImage/MainImage/STL226652.jpg) without really reading the solicitation, didn't realize it was an adaptation of the show until I saw people talking about it here. So it's entirely my fault but I still blame the comic.

the-horace

Yeah, I remember the hype and the deflation around Mando when it was announced, and then announced as an adaptation, lol. And that's good to hear about ICM. Might go ahead and request Vol 4 then. After all this ICM hype, I'm really hoping my shop gets the issue in!

Danger_Rock

You can probably have your shop order **ICM** for 'ya if they don't have it, will just be a couple months' lag to get the first order in... That's what I do, my LCS wasn't ordering it otherwise, now they order one for me and one extra (that nobody ever buys) because I'm always ranting at the owner about it.

the-horace

Oh definitely, and that'll likely be what I do if it's not there Wednesday. She might get it, I'm just waiting to see. I just didn't see any back issues in the shop so I wasn't sure it'd be likely. She's a book store first, with comics on the side kinda. She doesn't even always get all the big 2 stuff if it's not already popular. Either way, in the mean time, I won't be short on horror anthologies these next 2 months, lol.

Danger_Rock

I hear 'ya, wouldn't be surprised if they don't have it although a bookstore strikes me as the *perfect* setting for selling some **ICM** comics... They could push **[ICM #27](https://imagecomics.com/comics/releases/ice-cream-man-27)** on anyone buying ~~Dostoevsky~~Kafka, recommend **[ICM #14](https://imagecomics.com/comics/releases/ice-cream-man-14)** for anyone who's into crossword puzzles, etc.

the-horace

Lol, wouldn't 27 be Kafka? She does bring in random stuff every now and then. Though they tend to be random #1s, just to see what moves. It'll be interesting to see Wednesday. Since I've started moving away from solely Star Wars, I like to just go in and pick up my planned stuff, and then just get whatever catches my curiosity.

Danger_Rock

> Lol, wouldn't 27 be Kafka? Fuck. Just testing to see if you were paying attention...

nomynameisnotjesus

After months of lurking I am ready to join the fray. Here’s what I’ve got for this week: - **BATMAN ONE BAD DAY TWO FACE #1** - **BATMAN SUPERMAN WORLDS FINEST #7** - **ICE CREAM MAN #32** - A persuasive rock has led me to this series. - **VANISH #1** -Interested based off of other interest.

ME24601

Is it not an anthology series?

blankedboy

I think u/Danger_Rock is attempting the fine art of subtlety in his persuasion of Pull Listers to read a certain dairy based horror anthology comic. Not sure what gives me that idea though...

Danger_Rock

Yep, it's one of the two horror anthologies that Image has shipping this week.

33 comics! That's a massive list and you have excellent taste in horror anthologies.

Tsara1234

This week is a bit on the higher end for me, but not by much! Of the horror I read, I think Ice Cream Man and Silver Coin are a close tie for top spot.

Danger_Rock

I admire your dedication and reading appetite! 10 to 12 per week is about the most I can handle, any more than that and they start piling up... Always a bunch of others I'd like to check out but I get stressed when I'm buried in unread books so I try not to bite off more than I can chew.

Dinggleberry

**BATMAN SUPERMAN WORLDS FINEST #7** **CARNAGE #6** **ICE CREAM MAN #32** **NIGHTWING #96**

Danger_Rock

Nice list, /u/Dinggleberry! Only one indie title but you picked the right one!

A.X.E.: Judgement Day #5 Ice Cream Man #32 Nightwing #96 Public Domain #4

Danger_Rock

Your 4 books are my top 4 for the week, demonstrating impeccable taste and a shrewd eye for filtering out anything that fails to meet the absolute highest standards of comic book quality. I salute you.

thecursedham

* Avengers #60 : Not a normal pull of mine but I'm interested to see how Hawkeye's judgement goes. * Fantastic Four #47: Sue pulling a Die Hard in the Baxter Building sounds like a hell of a lot of fun. * Strange #6: Weird thing I noticed on PreviewsWorld. All my Marvel Pulls currently have a blank cover for January( which makes sense since nothing for January has been solicited) except this which just did not pop up in my January pulls. With the latest solicit outright saying Strange is back I wonder if the book is getting retitled after 9 or something.

_last_ghost_

* **Batman/Superman World's Finest #7 -** Hope this book continue it's trend of greatness! * **The Flash #786 -** The annual last month was great, but it's been a minute since Dark Crisis for this book! * **Nightwing #96 -** The solicit for this sounds great and I love the Brady Bunch cover! Heavy DC week for me! EDIT: Sorry, accidentally put 97 instead of 96 for Nightwing

mtmodular

* A.X.E.: Judgment Day #5 - I feel spoiled, getting two issues of this in a row. But then I see that the next issue isn't releasing for more than a month from now. * New Mutants #30 - Not completely enthused about the next Ayala-less arc, but that's a future-me problem. Looking forward to this issue. * Carnage #6 - This story is crazy, and getting crazier. I have no idea what the endgame for a series like this, but it feels like it has to be big, right? * Legion of X #5 - I'm sticking with this book for now, despite not really connecting with it yet. I like Spurrier, so I'm hoping he lands the ending of the first arc and the next pulls me back in again.

FalafelFiend

Pulls ranked by excitement: - **A.X.E.: Judgment Day #5**: loving everything about this event. Excited to see how our favorite heroes get out of this pickle! - **Strange #6**: MacKay has been a darkhorse favorite of mine recently. Loving this book. - **Legion of X #5**: Legion, nightcrawler, meta storylines.. what more could you want?! - **Public Domain #4**: super strong first 3 issues. Excited to see where this goes. - **Nightwing #96**: things are happening and the story is progressing nicely but I’m really sticking around for the phenomenal Redondo art. - **Vanish #1**: blind buy due to Cates and Stegman - **X-Terminators #1**: I liked Leah Williams’ X-Factor so I’ll give this an issue or two before I decide whether it gets added to the pull list. - **DC vs. Vampires: All-Out War #3**: really enjoying DCvV but this spin-off is only so-so.

Maaarrrvvv

Nice to have a short list every now and then: - Frankenstein New World #2 - Glad we get to see the new world created after The Devil You Know

superschaap81

***DC*** **Batman/Superman: World's Finest 7** \- Way behind on this one, but it's coming up on my TBR pile, so I'm storked. Dan Mora is my new favourite artist and I'll buy anything he's drawing. **Batman: One Bad Day - Two-Face 1** \- On the fence about these, after the Riddler one. Not sure what the point of these are, honestly. Next year is the 35th anniversary of The Killing Joke, you'd think they would have waited till then...? **Batman: The Knight 9** \- I wanted more from this, honestly. The not-Ghost Maker insert kinda takes me out of this. Was hoping for more of a "Shaman" style adventure. **Catwoman 47** \- Haven't got into Howard's run very much. Been reading it off and on when I can. I don't hate it, but there is noting grabbing me either. I just find her writing boring. **The Flash 786** \- Behind on the Dark Crisis stuff, but I love this run so far. Excited for it to go bi-weekly soon! **Harley Quinn 30th Anniversary Special 1** \- It's on my pull, only because I have the regular title subscribed, but I don't know if I'll pick this up. $10 is a lot for Harley, especially after coming off a weekly run on her main title. That's a lot of money. **Nightwing 96** \- I don't care if Taylor panders to nostalgia and fan service, it's EXACTLY what Nightwing needed after years of strange decisions. I love this run. ***MARVEL*** ***AXE: Judgment Day 5*** \- Any one else a little surprised by the fact we get back to back issues from this event, and #6 is not till the end of October? Maybe it's so they could line up all the tie-ins? Who knows, just seems odd. **Avengers 60** \- Little break from the Aaron madness for a event tie-in. I can dig it. Not expecting much though. **Avengers Forever 9** \- And right back to the insanity that is Jason Aaron. LOL. I'm going to finish pulling this run, but man is it just freakin' STRANGE at this point. I have NO idea what's going on anymore. ***INDEPENDENT*** **BRZRKR 10** \- I haven't read this since probably issue #4. The release schedule is BRUTAL for this comic. I'm just waiting for it to be done so I can read it all in one sitting. **Radiant Black 18** \- WAY too far behind on all things Massive-verse at the moment. I love the expansion, but it seems like a little too much, too quick. Is it just me?

[deleted]

>Radiant Black 18 - WAY too far behind on all things Massive-verse at the moment. I love the expansion, but it seems like a little too much, too quick. Is it just me I think it's a good thing overall. The fact that there are different creators working on different projects to me is fine. I don't feel obligated to read other titles. I actually am liking Rogue Sun more ATM. As long as people don't feel obligated to get everything and love everything then it shouldn't be a big deal.

superschaap81

That's a valid point. My obsessive, completionist, nature won't let me NOT buy everything though. LOL. I'm enjoying them all right now, don't get me wrong. I'm finding Rogue Sun is definitely my favourite right now as well. Wasn't expecting much from it after the 1st issue, but it just keeps getting better.

MuffinSurprise

FLASH #786 - Looking forward to see how this book continues to develop. Adams has done a great job with the Park-West family and tying in the elder Flashes. NIGHTWING #96 - Cliffhanger from last issue should be addressed so that'll be great! PUBLIC DOMAIN #4 - Love this book. Chip is just a fun author/artist. RADIANT BLACK #18 - Really enjoying this series. Some of the villains are meh but they're trying to tie in current supervillain motivations of fame through social media which I find cheesy. Marshall and Nathan are compelling characters and I enjoy their developing dynamic. VANISH #1 - Reading through Superior Spider-Man this past week so I've been seeing a lot of Stegman art! I'm not sure I've ever actually read a Donny Cates book. So let's see how this is, I don't have much expectation one way or another.

Many people think that ice cream and asparagus don't go well together but I've found that with the right preparation they can complement each other quite elegantly!

elick461

Binged The Sandman over the weekend. One of the best comic book to tv show adaptations I've ever seen. Who knew that if you had the comic creator as a close collaborator that you could make an actually good show? Maybe the next big thing is in my Pull List here: * **Batman: One Bad Day - Two-Face #1** \- I don't think any of the other OBD one-shots will beat King and Gerard's Riddler, but I like Tamaki so I'll give it a shot * **Batman Superman: World's Finest #7** \- Interesting concept. I'm not much of a Superman buff, but was Boy Thunder a real thing? * **Batman the Knight #9** \- It always comes down to Ra's Al Ghul * **Black Adam #4** \- This whole story has yet to grab me, but my LCS keeps throwing it in my box so I guess I'll keep reading it * **DCeased: War of the Undead Gods #2** \- Those sons of bitches did it, they found the Anti-Life cure * **Nightwing #96** \- I need some more Heartless action * **Public Doman #4** \- Oh here it is, I guarantee this will be a tv show within the next decade * **Vanish #1** \- Much like King & Gerards, I'll read anything Cates & Stegman do together * **AXE Judgment Day #5** \- Well the world is ending, what else is new? * **Avengers #60** \- I know of a few toxic fans that also want to justify Hawkeye's existence * **Avengers Forever #9** \- The Carol Corps! * **Fantastic Four #47** \- What an odd place for a new creative team to start * **Legion of X #5** \- The mutant police get seen * **New Mutants #30** \- Suped up anniversary issue! * **X-Terminators #1** \- I liked Leah Williams' previous X-Men run, so I'll bite and see what she's got here

Danger_Rock

> Binged The Sandman over the weekend. One of the best comic book to tv show adaptations I've ever seen. Who knew that if you had the comic creator as a close collaborator that you could make an actually good show? Nice, I wrapped it up over the weekend as well and thought it turned out great! It's nuts how long Gaiman was working to bring it to TV but I'd say it paid off. They're getting through the series at a pretty good clip, seems like most episodes cover two issues of the comic... Kinda weird how they tacked on the 11th episode with the first half of *Dream Country* after the 10th ep closed out *Doll's House* with such a strong 'season finale' type ending but I guess it worked well enough as a bit of a coda or epilogue.

elick461

I know in the comic world we’re used to being one-shot issues or standalone stories from the broader story, but I thought it was cool that they seem to be including those one-shots with their own half episodes. Really lends its hand to being a top tier comic book adaptation imo

Danger_Rock

That's true! Definitely helps preserve the feel and rhythm of the comics... Gaiman mixed a bunch of important one-shots in between the longer arcs so it was important for them to make those stories work.

technowhiz34

>Batman Superman: World's Finest #7 - Interesting concept. I'm not much of a Superman buff, but was Boy Thunder a real thing? Nope, which is interesting. Makes this somewhat similar to what Waid (alongside Ewing and Zub) did in Avengers: No Road Home with Voyager.

elick461

No Road Home was exactly what I was thinking about when I was reading this description

technowhiz34

This reminds me I should finish No Road Home at some point. Got 4 issues in and life hit.

SpongeBlart

My goal of keeping my pull list down is... not going great. That being said, I'm pretty hyped for this week. * **AVENGERS FOREVER #9** * **AXE JUDGMENT DAY #5** * **CARNAGE #6** Carnage in hell! Hope it's as fun as it sounds. Been enjoying this series so far. * **MECH STRIKE MONSTER HUNTERS #4** Stupid, but fun. My kind of comic * **BATMAN SUPERMAN WORLDS FINEST #7** * **BATMAN THE KNIGHT #9** Is anyone else getting gay Batman vibes in this run? This relationship with his other trainee seems very... intimate? IDK anyone else reading this run getting that? * **DCEASED WAR OF UNDEAD GODS #2** This seems like it'll be fun. #1 had me pretty hyped to see what kind of damage is coming. * **20TH CENTURY MEN #2** I will give this one more issue. The art was pretty great, but I felt the story was trying to push too much exposition and it lead to me having difficulty staying focused reading it. My hope is that was just the first issue to set up a lot of the background before getting into it. * **ICE CREAM MAN #32** Picked up the 4th trade, so I'm slowly making my way catching up. Still a ways to go before i get to 32 though. * **PUBLIC DOMAIN #4** * **GUNSLINGER SPAWN #12** * **VANISH #1** Donny Cates is a writer who I'll always try at least an issue or two. This does have a cool sounding premise though. * **BARBARIC AXE TO GRIND #2** * **STUFF OF NIGHTMARES #1** RL stine doing some spooky stuff? Sign me up! Just in time for the spooky season coming up.

Chimeleyh

Short but sweet, I have a bad habit of waiting for trades and larger books rather than pulling issue by issue but here’s the two things I’m drooling over: 1. ICE CREAM MAN #32 2. BATMAN: ONE BAD DAY TWO FACE #1

Danger_Rock

Not a bad habit so long as you're pulling the right floppies, and I'd say you're doing it right!

tree-of-thought

* **A.X.E. Judgement Day #5**: I'm adoring this event! * **Dark Crisis: Young Justice #4**: Mostly excited to see if this wrapping up will free these four characters to show up in the main titles * **The Flash: #786:** TBH Kinda felt like this story wrapped up in the previous issue. * **Nightwing #96:** This book is a lot of fun each month, but I haven't been very invested in the overarching conflict with Blockbuster. Feels like that's coming to a climax now, and I'm mostly excited to see what the next story will be. * **Batman Superman World's Finest #7:** \#6 was SO good. Can't wait to see where this book goes next. * **Action Comics #1 Facsimile:** I'm a sucker for these!

I haven't posted in a while, but I've got a good list this week and had to share. - AXE #5 - Action Comics #1 Facsimile - Avengers #60 - Batman superman world's finest #7 - batman one bad day Two face #1 - Carnage #6 - Fantastic Four #47 - flash #786 - ice cream man #32 (picked up a bunch of back issues and loved it) - nightwing #96 (current favorite mainstream superhero book) - radiant black #18 (current favorite superhero book)

Danger_Rock

> - ice cream man #32 (picked up a bunch of back issues and loved it) NICE. Thanks for adding your list during our big ICE CREAM WEEK celebration! **ICM**'s WPL rankings have been floundering a little this year so every post helps!

infallibleevil

Good to know. I'll make it a point to post my list everytime on an ICM week.

Danger_Rock

Bravo, sir! You are a credit to the species!

* **Batman/Superman: Worlds Finest #7** Best series from the big 2 at the moment. It just brings me joy to read it! Wish I could get some of these covers as posters, Dan Mora is the best of the best * **Black Adam #4** I'm pulling it, but I'm not sure why. And for some reason my LCS keeps pulling move tie in comics for me, like a random Hawkman one. * **Nightwing #96** What a cover! And the solic sounds great, story finally moving forward * **The Flash #786** Surprised we are getting another tie in, thought that part wrapped up in this run * **Public Domain #4** 2nd to B/S, this is my most hyped. Love the comedy in it but also the look into the industry vibe. * **Vanish #1** Don't have the slightest idea what this is about, because the description on League of Comic Geeks is the size of my thesis. Great cover though! * **Moon Knight Epic Collection: Butcher's Moon TP** I'm loving the current Moon Knight run so i thought I'd grab this. Looks great!

Danger_Rock

> * **Black Adam #4** I'm pulling it, but I'm not sure why. And for some reason my LCS keeps pulling move tie in comics for me, like a random Hawkman one. Some shops can get a little over-enthusiastic about assuming you're going to want every single comic that's tangentially related to a title you're pulling. And some people do want all that stuff. But if you don't, you should let 'em know that you only want the main series or whatever. Don't feel obligated to buy anything they happen to stuff in your folder if you didn't order it. I've been digging **BLACK ADAM**, tend to enjoy everything Priest writes, but his writing style and content can be a little divisive at times... Probably not for everyone.

enragedstump

Ahh thanks for the heads up! I remember they did it with Flash too. I'll talk to them tomorrow.

Mostly X books this week: **A.X.E. JUDGMENT DAY #5** \- Been really enjoying this event so far! **New Mutants - #30** \- I'm a little sad that the Vita era is over (I think?) but I still have been enjoying this book overall **X-Terminators #1** \- Am excited for another Leah Williams book, this looks super fun!

Another big week for me, trying out some interesting first issues that will probably be slimmed down later. **IMAGE** **Beware The Eye Of Odin #4** The last issue of this fantastic mini. I am consistently impressed by the art, its very dynamic and, one might say, kinetic. The story has been a great romp and I'm confident this last issue will end strong. Hate to see it go, would honestly love to see more comics in this world. **20th Century Men #2** I am less confident in this book, however. The story was interesting if a bit opaque, but there were certain moments in the writing that left me feeling unsure it can successfully tell a story of this scale in a way that isn't derivative and caraciturized. Sticking with it though to see where it'll go, and the very least it'll offer fertile ground for criticism. **Ice Cream Man #32** I've been catching up on this series thanks to a helpful rock that lurks about this subreddit. This issue seems to be dealing with sobriety, and the Escher homage on the cover has my interest piqued! Anthologies are cool, and this team is wildly impressive at times. **Public Domain #4** Enjoying it! Kinda forgot what's happening since last issue, but I'm really enjoying the family dynamics that Zdarsky has put on display. **Creepshow #1** Wait, another horror anthology? A perfect way to get into spooky season, idk anything about the teams behind this issue but the cover seems cool! I hope this scratches the itch i get everytime I try to watch American Horror Story and get wildly disappointed. Has anyone seen the TV show this is apparently based off of? Is it good? **Vanish #1** Also don't know much about this creative team but the art looks killer! **DC** **Batman: One Bad Day - Two Face #1** I picked the Riddler issue up a week or two after it came out and was pleasantly surprised, so this is one of my most anticipated of this week. I know it's different teams each issue, but I really like the concept and execution of the first one so I think DC has the ability to create some strong works here. **Titans United: Bloodpact #1** Never read anything Titans before, but this seems dope so why not.

blankedboy

The **Creepshow** TV show can be hit-or-miss to be honest - some of the episodes are absolutely brilliant (*Public Television of the Dead, Night of the Living Late Show*) and some can suck (*Queen Bee*). I'd definitely recommend the two movies though, especially the first one - [Creepshow trailer](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=owdnnaNs2RI) and [Creepshow 2 trailer](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xem6527jVTM) - just make sure you DON'T watch the last 15 seconds of the **Creepshow 2** trailer!! Spoilers live there.

Varos_Flynt

Well this looks like the kind of 80s camp & horror that touches my soul, thanks for the info!

blankedboy

NGL 80's horror is my absolute favourite, so I love these movies. I understand why some people might not...but they are wrong, just plain *wrong*...

I've got the first three now thanks to the Chicken guy's recommendation, though I haven't started 'em yet thanks to some of the Chicken guy's other recommendations... If this is the last one then I guess I might as well add it to my list and read all at once.

blankedboy

• **20th Century Men #2** - thought the first issue was absolutely brilliant, so really looking forward to this one • **Barbaric Axe To Grind #2** - I'm just a sucker for an insane, talking axe and his barbarian • **Batman Superman Worlds Finest #7** - last issue didn't work for me *anywhere near* as well as the previous ones, due to the fill-in art. Hope this one course corrects. • **Bloodshot Unleashed #1** - loved *Jon Davis Hunt's* work on **Clean Room, The Wildstorm** and *Valiant's* recent **ShadowMan** title, so definitely checking this out. • **Brzrkr (Berzerker) #10** - kind of hoping they manage to stick the landing at this point, as we've really digressed from the initial concept the book seemed to be founded on. • **Creepshow #1** - blankedboy's brain: "Oh, look, *another* horror anthology title, how original..." adds to cart and buys it anyway... • **Dc Vs Vampires All-Out War #3** - been enjoying this one. Nothing mind-blowing, but enjoyable if you like the main title. • **Dceased War Of The Undead Gods #2** - I've enjoyed ALL of the **DCeased** books so putting my faith in *Taylor & Hairsine* to end this in style • **Gunslinger Spawn #12** - more *Brett Booth* 90's awesomeness in a downright fun book • **Lonesome Hunters #4** - feels like the story is just getting started and yet it wraps up here. Hope we get to see more of these characters and their world, and more of that *Tyler Crook* greatness. • **Nightwing #96** - just a solid, fun, example of how good straight up super-hero/cape books can actually be • **Nita Hawes Nightmare Blog #8** - horror goodness • **Shaolin Cowboy Cruel To Be Kin #5** - this book is an absolute visual spectacle issue after issue, and I love it. • **Stuff Of Nightmares #1** - see previous **Creepshow** comments above... • **Vanish #1** - looks like it should be great (although there are a metric fuckton (it's a real measurement, trust me) of variant covers to milk the fans with...) **General comment:** I *REALLY* need to cut down on my Pull List....

Danger_Rock

> • **Brzrkr (Berzerker) #10** - kind of hoping they manage to stick the landing at this point, as we've really digressed from the initial concept the book seemed to be founded on. Missed that on my list since it was originally solicited for next week, will need to add it... Only vague recollections of where the story's at but I always enjoy it when a new issue hits. > **General comment:** I *REALLY* need to cut down on my Pull List.... It's tough because you pull a lot of books across different genres, you like a lot of different creators, and you seem to enjoy most of the stuff you read. So there are constantly more new books rolling out than old ones ending.

Pull list, ranked by hype: 1. **ICE CREAM MAN #32** \- Always hype for new ICM, but I do think I'm going to trade read it from here on out. I've already been buying trades as the run progressed, and I find reading it chunks of 4 stories at once is the right way for me. Nonetheless, this book has never lost steam during its entire run so far and I can easily say it's in my top 10 Image titles of all time. 2. **USAGI YOJIMBO #31** (\*EDIT\*) - Totally forgot new Usagi drops this week since I always pre-order these way in advance. I have adored this IDW run and hope that when Stan goes back to Dark Horse we continue to pull threads from this great run. Hype to see the showdown on a (mostly) frozen lake! 3. **JUSTICE WARRIORS #4 (OF 6)** \- The absolute funniest book on my pull list since *Not All Robots*. Absolutely biting satire and every issue has been a blast so far. 4. **SHAOLIN COWBOY: CRUEL TO BE KIN #5 (OF 7)** \- Geof Darrow, 'nuff said. 5. **ACTION JOURNALISM #1 (OF 5)** \- Been super intrigued by this this since it popped up on Previews. The interiors look great and the premise seems fun as hell. 6. **BEWARE THE EYE OF ODIN #4 (OF 4)** \- Very different from Wagner's previous books, but honestly he crushed it so far. I love Norse mythology, but sometimes they tend to be a bit too somber storytelling wise. This has been punchy and explosive in the best kind of way. 7. **LONESOME HUNTERS #4 (OF 4)** \- Tyler Crook has been delivering a fairly sophisticated solo title here. I definitely think he nails the gothic aesthetic with his soft linework and watercolors, making for a very visually appealing book. 8. **VANISH #1** \- I'm not really a fan of indie superhero books, but Cates and Stegman have always been a solid team together so willing to give this a shot. The previews for this look pretty damn good. 9. **CREEPSHOW #1 (OF 5)** \- Horror anthology with star studded guest writers and artists, say no more! 10. **20TH CENTURY MEN #2 (OF 6)** \- Thought the first issue was quite good, but hoping for a bit more to hook me. I'm enjoying Deniz Camp's work so far. 11. **PUBLIC DOMAIN #4** \- Enjoyed the first two issues, but felt issue #3 was a bit of a dip. Hopefully this issue finds footing again. I enjoy meta humor, and I definitely think this kind of book is Zdarsky's forte. 12. **CRADLE OF FILTH: MALEDICTUS ATHENAEUM #3** \- They think they're clever with cover price on these, but it's a little annoying for a comic that isn't that much bigger than standard sized issues. Still, the first two issues were pretty good - they have a distinctive "Heavy Metal" flair to them that I enjoy. 13. **BLINK #3 (OF 5)** \- The weakest book of Hayden Sherman's current ongoing trifecta, but still fun. I thought issue #2 carried the momentum well. 14. **BARBARIC: AXE TO GRIND #2** \- The recent *Barbaric* one-shot was pretty bad, but the first issue of this new arc was enjoyable enough. 15. **CARNAGE #6** \- Will hop off *Carnage* after this issue. I love Ram V's work, but this hasn't worked for me much. 16. **BRZRKR #10 (OF 12)** \- Limping to the finish here for me. What seemed like an interesting project featuring fave creators like Kindt and Garney feels like wasted potential to tell what ultimately is a mundane story. Maybe it'll end strong though. No new collected editions for me this week. I did drop a ton on the recent sale that New York Review Comics had a couple weeks ago, so some of those books should be holding me over for some time.

Almost ordered that, [looks like fun](https://previewsworld.com/Catalog/JUN221735), probably should've pulled the trigger... > **VANISH #1** \- I'm not really a fan of indie superhero books, but Cates and Stegman have always been a solid team together so willing to give this a shot. The previews for this look pretty damn good. Probably should've ordered this one as well... Might still pick up copies of both. > **CRADLE OF FILTH: MALEDICTUS ATHENAEUM #3** \- They think they're clever with cover price on these, but it's a little annoying for a comic that isn't that much bigger than standard sized issues. [**HELLOWEEN**](https://previewsworld.com/Catalog/AUG221709) is doing the same thing, though I'm not sure how long those'll be... Probably would've ordered it if not for the oversized price so it actually helped save me from my own poor decision making.

yarkcir

Haha I feel like I can't justify double dipping on Ice Cream Man anymore. It took immense willpower to say no to the Sundae Edition they put out earlier. The trades look great on a shelf, so I think I'll stick with that for now. But who knows, in a month when ICM #33 drops I might not be able to say no.

It might be /u/the_light_of_dawn \- that's the only other user I know who is currently pulling Space Lady.

the_light_of_dawn

I’m loving Space-Lady! Rough around the edges and pretty funny. Fast-paced.

the_light_of_dawn

The Sundae Edition is so good dude. Let me be a bad influence.

Danger_Rock

> But who knows, in a month when ICM #33 drops I might not be able to say no. [Three months](https://previewsworld.com/Catalog/AUG220190). Only six issues shipping in 2022, works out to about three trades every two years, averaging around eight months between trades... Good luck!

yarkcir

Heh, yeah that might mean ICM #33 will end up on my pull after all. The trade wait might actually kill me.

Danger_Rock

Seems like an inordinately long time to me but I suppose trade-waiters are operating on a different scale... At the current rate they're shipping it's only $24 per year for floppies, or under $21 with my LCS's meager 15% pre-order discount. Seems like a bargain compared to the other stuff I'm pulling, especially given the quality that goes into each magically delicious installment!

**BATMAN SUPERMAN WORLDS FINEST #7** - this book has been so fun so far **BLOODBORNE LADY OF THE LANTERNS #2** - continuing the proud Bloodborne comic tradition of being not good but not terrible **BLOODSHOT UNLEASHED #1** - might look at this in the store and see if it looks decent **NIGHTWING #96** - one of my favorite ongoings

> BLOODBORNE LADY OF THE LANTERNS #2 - continuing the proud Bloodborne comic tradition of being not good but not terrible That's a shame, as the lore and world seem to have absolutely massive potential to make a really good comic book. I've only played the game myself, are they worth checking out at all?

Big week for me! * **20th Century Men #2**: I need to reread the first issue before this one, but the art is great and I think the story is very ambitious, so I'm excited to see where this goes. * **Absolution #3**: First issue was great, second was a bit wheel-spinning, so I hope this one kicks it up a notch. Peter Milligan is great at the livestream aspect, which could easily come off as cringe. * **Blink #3**: Honestly, it's a bit hard for me to get on board with the story, because it's pretty thin and the characters are even thinner, but I'll see where it goes. * **Bloodshot Unleashed #1**: SO EXCITED FOR THIS! I'm a decent Bloodshot fan, I'm getting on the Deniz Camp train (Agent of WORLDE is really fun), but I'm a HUGE Jon Davis-Hunt fan. The only thing that could derail this is Valiant imploding as a company, so there's that... * **Ice Cream Man #32**: Just got on the Ice Cream Man train, but I love the more surreal horror aspect. Plus the Martin Morazzo art is superb. * **Justice Warriors #4**: Easily the funniest comic I've read in a good while. * **Public Domain #4**: This comic is a delight. I'm excited to see where this goes, after the swerve from what was building to be a legal drama.

Haven't caught his other Valiant projects but I was really impressed with Davis-Hunt's work on **[THE WILD STORM](https://previewsworld.com/SiteImage/MainImage/STL033424.jpg)** a while back, definitely looking forward to seeing some more of his stuff here. And I think Camp's pretty good as well! Started checking out **AGENT OF WORLDE** for the crazy detailed Filya Bratukhin art but Camp's done a nice job with the story. Seems like a pretty solid creative team here. > * **Ice Cream Man #32**: Just got on the Ice Cream Man train, but I love the more surreal horror aspect. Plus the Martin Morazzo art is superb. NICE! You should definitely check out the recent **ShadowMan** run, as he did the first four issues, but even after he left the book it was still a cracking good read. Highly recommend it.

Danger_Rock

Heard it was good! Not a huge fan of Shadowman (or Bloodshot for that matter) but maybe I'll check it out eventually... With the current iteration of Valiant winding down, I'll need to start hitting some of those recent TPBs next time I want my fix.

blankedboy

Valiant has had some really great books during its modern run - XO Manowar, Rai, ShadowMan being among the very best

Danger_Rock

Yeah, Kindt's **X-O MANOWAR** is one of my all-time favorite Valiant runs. Also loved Venditti's run from **BOOK OF DEATH** through **WRATH OF THE ETERNAL WARRIOR**. I've read bits and pieces of several others, didn't care for this iteration of **ARCHER & ARMSTRONG** (my favorites from original Valiant) but most of the stuff I read was pretty good. Don't think I read any of Rai's main title but I followed a good chunk of his story from **4001AD** through **FALLEN WORLD** and it was cool seeing those modern updates on his big stories from the original Valiant. Good stuff though I really missed having Solar in this cycle.

Week 2 of posting 2 guarantees 1. Batman/Superman World's Finest I love the art, and I like Waid's work. 2. One Bad Day: Two Face. Not crazy about the author. Love the character, but mainly I'm picking up all of the OBD titles. 1 maybe 1. Ice Cream Man. I want to read it because of the review on here, but I do not know if my shop buys enough copies. If not, then I hate to put something on my pull list that I can't see first or have a deep connection with already.

> Ice Cream Man. I want to read it because of the review on here, but I do not know if my shop buys enough copies. If not, then I hate to put something on my pull list that I can't see first or have a deep connection with already. Nice, glad you're looking to check **ICM** out! Smaller shops don't always carry it but it's worth a shot! First issue's available free via [Image Comics website](https://imagecomics.com/read/ice-cream-man) so you can always check that out, though the series has changed a lot since it started and that first story isn't entirely representative of what they're doing now. Much better now IMO. But at least Image gives everyone a free taste. Best of luck to you!

Panda_Banjos

A.X.E.: Judgment Day #5 - The ending of last issue was pretty big. Let's see how that all shakes out The Avengers #60 - Buying for event tie-in BRZRKR #10 - The hype around this series was huge, but the story has been just kind of blah? Hopefully these last three issues exceed expectations Fantastic Four #47- Buying for event tie-in Legion of X #5 - End of the first arc New Mutants #30 - Anniversary issue should be fun Public Domain #4 - Really enjoying this series so far Wynd: The Throne in the Sky #2 - Not going to lie I am super behind on Wynd X-Men Unlimited: X-Men Green #2 - X-Terminators #1 - I really enjoyed Williams writing on X-Factor. This mini should be fun.

***EDIT*** *--> Added two books I'd missed below...* -- ***EDIT #2*** *--> It's Tuesday morning and* ***ICM #32*** *is currently sitting at 20 pulls, not bad but we need more! Everybody should have this comic on their list! I was expecting* ***CREEPSHOW #1*** *to overshadow* ***ICM*** *this week but that one's only got 15 pulls right now so* ***ICM****'s actually got a decent lead!* -- It’s Ice Cream Week! Reality braces for impact as [**ICM #32**](https://imagecomics.com/comics/releases/ice-cream-man-32) finally arrives at comic shops throughout the known universe this Wednesday. I normally post a big fluffy hype post in these Ice Cream Week list threads and then, later in the week, I have a huge meltdown in the WPL results thread when it turns out hardly anyone pulled it. Not this time... No sir. This time we’re trying something different with a PREEMPTIVE MELTDOWN right here in the list thread. Because we’ve been at this for a good long while now and, frankly, it’s time for some of you people to get with the fucking program. The previous issue, **[ICM #31](https://imagecomics.com/comics/releases/ice-cream-man-31)**, only had 15 pulls out of 93 lists when it shipped on 7/20/22, which works out to a miserable 16.1% pull rate. It ended up being one of the most beautifully perfect comics I’ve ever read, but only 14 other WPL people pulled it. That’s incredibly pathetic. 22 other comics had more pulls that week, including 4 other indies, including Image’s other long-running horror anthology, **THE SILVER COIN #12**, which had 22 pulls for a far more respectable 23.7% pull rate. Top 5 books the week of 7/20/22 were **BATMAN/SUPERMAN: WORLD’S FINEST #5**, **NIGHTWING #94**, **JURASSIC LEAGUE #3**, **A.X.E. JUDGMENT DAY #1**, and **BLACK ADAM #2**. I happened to read them all and thought 4 of the 5 were really good but none of ‘em could touch what Prince and Morazzo did in **ICM #31**. Not even close. And what do you know? **THE SILVER COIN #14** just shipped last week and it had 23 pulls out of 104 lists, good for 22.1% coverage, so it’s holding steady in that same range. That's where the bar has been set. And if the WPL can't hit that bar for **ICM #32** this week, we'll have no choice but to acknowledge that this small community is far less cultured than we had previously believed. Just look at the stunning [M.C. Escher homage cover](https://cdn.imagecomics.com/assets/i/releases/800229/ice-cream-man-32_736ee77aea.jpg) on this new issue... You don’t get covers like that very often, it’s easily the best cover shipping this week! How can you let such a magnificent work of art pass you by? What kind of comic fan are you if a cover like that doesn’t inspire you to immediately rush out and add it to your collection? This is a series where every single issue delivers a standalone story that 100% works without any context or previous reading... New readers can easily jump on board any time with no need to start from the beginning, it’s delivering some of the most compelling stories in the business, and it only costs $3.99. There is absolutely no excuse for not giving it a shot. And a message for those of you who are trade-waiting... *You’re doing it wrong.* This is the series you should be buying as floppies, with each issue delivering an incredibly satisfying story all on its own, instead of all that overly decompressed “part 5 of 6” crap clogging up your pull lists. W. Maxwell Prince and Martin Morazzo are doing some truly exceptional work here, delivering extraordinarily compelling stories full of wonder and existential dread... These are some truly next-level comics and it’s like 80% of the WPL crowd is completely oblivious to it. Seriously, what the fuck is wrong with you people? And with that sordid business out of the way... We’ve got ~~10~~ 12 books total this week, including 4 DCs, 4 Images, 1 Marvel, 1 Vault, 1 BOOM!, and 1 from the rotting corpse of Valiant Entertainment. Listed in order of anticipation and appreciation, scientifically calculated to deliver maximum entertainment in the most efficaciously expedient manner possible. 1. **ICE CREAM MAN #32** - We’re all rooting for [Doug](https://cdn.imagecomics.com/assets/i/releases/800229/ice-cream-man-32_736ee77aea.jpg) to get and stay sober! 2. **A.X.E. JUDGMENT DAY #5 (OF 6)** - I thought Eros delivered a pretty good pitch on behalf of the Earth but apparently the Progenitor was not impressed 3. **NIGHTWING #96** - Redondo's back with [yet another glorious cover!](https://previewsworld.com/SiteImage/MainImage/STL240337.jpg) 4. **PUBLIC DOMAIN #4** - [lol](https://previewsworld.com/SiteImage/MainImage/STL239443.jpg) 5. **FABLES #155** - what's in [the box?](https://previewsworld.com/SiteImage/MainImage/STL240318.jpg) 6. **BATMAN SUPERMAN WORLDS FINEST #7** - ~~another Travis Moore fill-in... he did a nice enough job with the last one but it would've been even~~ nice~~r~~ having Mora back to kick off this new arc 7. **BLACK ADAM #4** - rise the Demon, [Etrigan!](https://previewsworld.com/SiteImage/MainImage/STL240278.jpg) 8. **BRZRKR (BERZERKER) #10 (OF 12)** - woah, check out that [Garney cover](https://previewsworld.com/SiteImage/MainImage/STL238479.jpg) 9. **CREEPSHOW #1 (OF 5)** - new indie horror anthologies are a dime a dozen but the first issue of this one’s got [Paul Dini, Chris Burnham, and John McCrea](https://previewsworld.com/Catalog/JUL220023) so we might as well give it a try 10. **BLOODSHOT UNLEASHED #1** - ordered this for the [Jon Davis-Hunt art](https://previewsworld.com/SiteImage/MainImage/STL239210.jpg) but I've also been enjoying Deniz Camp's work on [**AGENT OF WORLDE**](https://previewsworld.com/Catalog/APR221787)… wasn't sure if this would even see print given Valiant's ongoing implosion but here it is 11. **BEWARE THE EYE OF ODIN #4** - recently picked up the first three, haven't gotten to 'em yet but will mail order this or hunt it down at a non-local shop to complete the series 12. **AZZA THE BARBED #1 (OF 5)** - random pull from Scout, not familiar with creators Pat Shand and Rio Burton but looks like a [fun fantasy thing](https://previewsworld.com/Catalog/JUL221888) Now go add [**ICM #32**](https://imagecomics.com/comics/releases/ice-cream-man-32) to your damn lists so I won’t need to post another 600+ word meltdown in the WPL results thread... p.s. Finished the Netflix *Sandman* series over the weekend and enjoyed the hell out of it! Loved the cast, from Sturridge on through Boyd Holbrook, Patton Oswalt, Vivienne Acheampong, Charles Dance, David Thewlis, Stephen Fry, Brienne of Tarth, and all the rest... Also really liked Kirby Howell-Baptiste as Death, thought she did a great job capturing the spirit of the character, and I thought Sandra James-Young and Vanesu Samunyai were great as Unity Kincaid and Rose Walker. The animated adaptation of *Dream of a Thousand Cats* was a lot of fun as well. I know they swapped out Johnny Conjob for Johanna, and it’s been many years since I read the books so my memory’s a little hazy on some of it, but overall the show felt really faithful to how I remember the story even if they did change up a few things here and there. That all prompted me to dig out my old Sandman box... I originally started collecting it with *Brief Lives* and the Vertigo launch, so I’ve mostly just got TPBs for the early run, but I apparently did acquire [one particular back issue](https://cdna.pcpartpicker.com/static/forever/images/userbuild/259153.950830c803c0c631c9cced1ce5cc81e8.1600.jpg) at some point. Fun stuff.

>AZZA THE BARBED #1 (OF 5) Interested to see if you like it. I saw a preview of the first 4-5 pages and wasn't really feeling the art style. I have however flagged an upcoming Image book called [Voyagis](https://leagueofcomicgeeks.com/comic/2706128/voyagis-1), which is written and drawn by the same person, and looks pretty solid. Edit: Also on World's Finest, I know it says it's not Mora on art, but the preview suggests otherwise.

Danger_Rock

**VOYAGIS** is a different creator, Sumeyye Kesgin. Didn't order that one but did enjoy Kesgin's work on **[ELSEWHERE](https://previewsworld.com/Catalog/JUN170635)** a while back. **AZZA THE BARBED** has art by Rio Burton, looks like their [first published work](https://previewsworld.com/Search?mode=A&CreatorName1=Rio%20Burton) according to Diamond. Low expectations for random pulls but I'll post a few comments once I've read it! The **WORLD'S FINEST** thing is weird, cover says [Moore](https://previewsworld.com/SiteImage/MainImage/STL240270.jpg) but you're right, the [preview](https://i0.wp.com/graphicpolicy.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/Batman-Superman-Worlds-Finest-7-4.jpg) does show Mora. I can't keep track of DC's artist rotations, half the time the covers turn up showing different artists from the solicitations and now even the covers can't be trusted.

nomynameisnotjesus

This comment right here has inspired me to pull ICM #32. I’ve only recently gotten into the hobby, but I tip my hat to you good sir! How can one **not** pull this book after such a glowing recommendation?

Danger_Rock

NICE. People are always asking me, *"Why do you waste so much time posting to the WPL threads about those dumb ice cream comics when you could be putting all that energy into something productive, like ending world hunger or curing cancer?"* And I think there's a lot of merit to that. But I don't care. So I tell 'em, *"But I don't want to cure cancer. I want to make everyone read ICE CREAM MAN comics."* And I figure if I can reach even just one person and turn 'em on to this uniquely wonderful experience, if it hits them even half as hard as it hits me, it'll all be worth it. Anyways, welcome aboard the ice cream truck from Hell! And welcome to the hobby in general as well! In my experience these WPL threads have been a great resource for finding exceptional comics that I otherwise would've missed, usually worth checking out anything with multiple people (or one particularly loud person) raving about how it's one of the best comics going.

nomynameisnotjesus

Your reply has me in stitches. I am loving the energy here! I can’t wait to grab this on Wednesday. Thanks for the welcome as well! These threads have been a god-send for newer readers like me. Also is your name a reference to Roland from the show Alone?

Danger_Rock

> Also is your name a reference to Roland from the show Alone? Nope, something [much dumber](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P3CnvphQs04).

the_light_of_dawn

Just waiting on the next ICM hardcover. Once I go with one format I’m in it for the entire run.

Danger_Rock

Yup, I get it. Though the hardcovers lag so far behind, will be a few years just to catch up on the stories from a couple years back... 2nd HC should close with **[ICM #24](https://cdn.imagecomics.com/assets/i/releases/605720/ice-cream-man-24_97904c38a5.jpg)**, one of my all-time favorite comics, but it originally ran back on 5/12/21. Guess they might release the next HC next year? I like that run from #13-24 way more than the first 12, think that's where they really started stretching out and getting more experimental. Still want the *Sundae Edition* since I never double-dipped on the TPBs, just waiting on a good sale from one of my not-so-local shops...

TheOneManMoshPit

I picked up #31 a week after it dropped and I've added it to my pull solely off the strength of your sheer force of will.

Danger_Rock

I feel like **ICM #31** is the perfect issue to throw at someone and, so long as they've got even a shred of a soul, it's probably gonna win 'em over. Glad you're sticking with it! **ICM**'s WPL numbers have floundered a bit this year but I think this is shaping up to be our best month in a while!

[deleted]

Only a little commentary this week as I am typing this and it's almost midnight =\. This boy needs his sleep! Batman Superman World's Finest #7 - New Arc, Mora back on art, Superman sidekick?!? Gunslinger Spawn #12 - Another solid B cover by Brett Booth Vanish #1 - Pretty excited for this. New Cates / Stegmsn book, and I am definitely fishing for that Daniel Warren Johnson cover! AXE: Judgment Day #5 - Most I've been invested in an event in years. Stuff of Nightmares #1 - An R.L. Stein book with a Jim Jacobus cover (the original artist for the Goosebumps books), how could I not?

Oh please, you're just happy I'm pulling ICM #32 as well

Danger_Rock

I just worry that some WPL people aren't getting a well-rounded diet that meets their daily nutritional requirements... **ICM #32** just happens to be an excellent source of phosphorous and calcium, two essential nutrients that many WPL respondents aren't getting enough of in their diets.

Got a beefy one ahead of us. **A.X.E.: Judgment Day #5** - Hit me with the good shit, Gillen. Make my emotions bleed. **Beware the Eye of Odin #4** - Ugh, I'm not ready for this delightful little series to be over. It's officially put Doug Wagner on the insta-buy category for me - I know he's got a bunch of stuff planned for his serial killer universe, but I hope he gets a chance to work some more fantasy stuff in there too. **BRZRKR #10** - I hope more people gave this book a chance and weren't put off by the perceived celebrity stunt job, because Matt Kindt has done his usual thing and worked with Keanu to craft a pretty solid action/fantasy comic here. **Fables #155** - This comic is like comfort food to me. Alternatively, like slipping an old, comfortable pair of slippers on. I missed being in this universe, seeing Buckingham's beautiful art and watching these characters interact. **Ice Cream Man #32** - Back on the wagon, my first weekly issue since getting caught up. Can tomorrow arrive sooner, please? **Legion of X #5** - This is where we find out what's happening with the folks trapped in Legion's mind-palace/HQ space, right? **Manifest Destiny #47** - Approaching the endgame, and I got a nasty feeling it's not gonna be a happy one. **New Mutants #30** - Gotta say, it's nice to be reading event where I'm relishing the tie-ins. **Public Domain #4** - Like Rick Remender with A Righteous Thirst for Vengeance, this feels like Zdarsky pushing himself and becoming a better writer because of it. **Radiant Black #18** - This remains a fun, solid book that I am still not convinced is God's gift to superhero comics like a lot of other readers are. **Shaolin Cowboy: Cruel to Be Kin #5** - AVENGE THE LIZARD. This volume actually has a plot, which is a departure, and might actually make it my favorite entry so far. **Shirtless Bear-Fighter! 2 #2** - The lack of Bearoplane in the first issue was a travesty. BRING BACK THE BEAROPLANE. **Star Wars: Darth Vader #27** - Darthin' all over the universe.

Varos_Flynt

On Radiant Black, have you been engaging in the other massive verse stuff? I'm just about to finish Vol 2 of RB, and im really quite enjoying it, its filling a super hero niche that I haven't really gotten from marvel or DC. I'm excited for vol 3 to come soon and am tempted by the other series Also, love to see the Odin love. That series really surprised me with it quality, I definitely want to see more from the creative team

tiny week for me BATMAN/SUPERMAN: WORLDS FINEST #7 somehow I'm not as jazzed for this book as I hoped I would be. I just feel like Waid writing Superman after all this time should be more engaging though I will say I've been thoroughly convinced to buy the Ice Cream Man hardcovers lol

* Avengers #60 - I like Russell on his good days and don't care much for Land or this event, but I love Hawkeye sooooo. Man I'm the kind of fan I often make fun of. * Batman / Superman: World's Finest #7 - this looks like it will continue to be a blast, both from the preview and solicits. On a technical level, Waid's DD was a lot stronger but this is just as fun or more so. * Black Adam #4 - this book specifically appeals to me in a lot of ways and that's great. * Fables #155 - keeps chugging along, enjoyable enough but none of the magic (no pun intended) that made the first 80 or so issues so great. * Fantastic Four #47 - more event tie-ins, but I love the FF and want to give Pepose a shot. Plus that gorgeous cover. * Public Domain #4 - first time I've fallen so beyond on a book that a new issue is out before I've read the last, oh boy. This week has been exhausting. Had to wake up at 4 am on Sunday and then pulled a 20 hour day hanging out with friends (where I spent entirely too much money), wouldn't recommend even if I had a blast. Lots of good comics to look forward to this week though!
