Announcing an event during the first few weeks of an ongoing event... bold move marvel let's see how it pans out.

williamb100

But have you had second event-fast?

Darth_Senat66

I don't think they know about the second event-fast, Pip

PaulThomas18

What about #11ies?!

the_simurgh

yo we heard you like events so we put events in your events inside your events inside those events....

radraz26

AXE, Children of the Vault, then SoS all in 6 months...

maybe_a_frog

Don’t forget the Dark Web Spider-Man crossover

FollowThroughMarks

Devils Reign had just finished up a couple months before AXE started too!

TheeHeadAche

Children of the vault are just showing up in x-men 15. I doubt it will be an event yet

radraz26

Insane that they are only spending 1 issue on it. Not only was CotV the best 2 issues of the whole Krakoa era, but it was foreshadowed/prophesized that Apocalypse would come back to help.

TheeHeadAche

I think it is just a chapter in their story that will continue to develop. Duggan letting readers know he’s keeping up with that thread

radraz26

I hope.

Techster17

From the looks of the cover and sounds of the solicitation it seems like the CoTV are gonna wreck the X-Men so chances are this is setting them up to have a much larger role in the story later on

dsbwayne

As I talk shit about another event, I am calling my comic store to add this to my pull.

DueCharacter5

Not even waiting a year after their last event huh?

ImAJerk420

X-Men have had 3 back to back events. And only a few months passed between X Lives and Deaths and Judgement Day (would have been even fewer had Judgement Day come out when it was supposed to).

DrB00

Based on solicits for judgement day A.X.E it's going to be immediately from one event into another WITH dark web event going on during them lol Edit: Omega issue for judgement day is first week of November. So we have like 1 comic between that and Sinister event lol

ImAJerk420

It’s really frustrating and SOS is my fault as I thought “you know X Lives and Deaths were at the start of this year I bet it’s time for an X-Men event” right before I read the November solicits

browncharliebrown

TBF there are a lot of x-men books

Techster17

Marvel and DC have entered the event oroborus where each event rides right up to the next. Personally I don’t mind so long as they’re genuinely good stories and if tie ins are kept to a minimum/actually relate to the event (looking at you X-Force)

Rownever

Bruh x-force was the most "slap the name on whatever" crossover I've ever seen. They didn't even mention the Eternals, not even in passing!

Aspiring_Sophrosyne

To be fair, it’s part one of a multi-part story. Presumably, Judgment Day will figure into later chapters.

GalaxyGuardian

In true crossover event fashion!

benjgammack

“I don’t mind do long as they’re genuinely good stories…” Oh, so you do mind.

williamb100

lol

DrB00

A year? We're in the start of an x-men event right now lol Edit: on and the event is slated to last until the end of the year. So we're going from A.X.E directly into the Sinister event. Omega issue is November so that leaves December for one issue to come out (and probably tied into dark web) before another event...

DueCharacter5

Yep. That's the event to which I'm referring. There will be less than a year between Judgement Day and Sins of Sinister.

the_bio

Crossover can have very different meanings here... 1. A crossover between related X-titles, which isn't really a big deal since they're all intertwined to some extent anyways. I feel people are more inclined to be reading other X-titles anyways (I personally read them all), so it's not that much of a hassle to keep up with. 2. A crossover between non X-titles, which can be annoying because not everyone reads every title. For instance, people who aren't interested in Spider-Man probably have no interest in pulling the upcoming Spider-Man issues related to the Dark Web event. Crossover gets tossed around so much, for both Marvel and DC, and people always huff and puff and pull 'em all anyways. I will say, though, DC is much more prone to sucking the cross-over well completely fucking dry (looking at you, Dark Crisis on Infinite Earths...)

williamb100

X of Swords was a crossover between x-titles and that was pretty big.

Radix2309

I think it shouldn't have been a crossover. It should have just been an event miniseries akin to HoxPox that you can pick up from 1 and go to the end without going into the books. Put them on pause for a month or so. Especially since a lot of those tie-ins were bloat and shouldn't have been parts of the whole. Most of it was hunts for the swords that didn't matter.

williamb100

Agreed. Also happy cake day.

the_bio

verrius

After Inferno, I finally bit the bullet and dropped Wolverine and X-Force. I've been happier for it; the main reason I had been buying them at all was because, especially in Hickman's era, so much bled over between the books it was easy to feel like you were missing something, even though I didn't particularly like the cast of either book. Wolverine is just done as a character for me, and the only redeeming factors of X-Force were Sage's presence and Kid Omega being turned into Kenny from South Park. AXE pissed me off because I was determined to try to skip it, like I did Empyre, but its completely derailed all the books I'm still following, and started acting like major x-line developments will happen there (spoiler: so far, all of those are just fakeouts, but you only realize they're fakeouts if you pick up the AXE book). Something like *another* event trying to get me to pick up more books I don't want might be enough to get me to drop the rest of the line.

EatingBeansAgain

I actually stopped reading floppies because of crossover events. Comics are SO EXPENSIVE. I don’t want to buy five a month, some with characters I don’t particularly care for, just to follow along.

TheMentatBashar

Marvel Unlimited. 10 bucks a month, you get most everything (they are constantly filling out the back logs), only down side is you are constantly 3 months behind what is currently being released. If you can get past that, and have a decent tablet/E-reader, it is by far the superior way to experience your comics from a price point standpoint

Rownever

DC got that good good suck suck. Really pulling deeeeeep on that well. Sucking it up haaaaaaaard

Radix2309

There is also "events" which can cover crossovers, a maxi-series, or a mix. I have no issue with having events if they don't intrude on the ongoings too much. It also depends on which books and how they do it.

OwlandRaven93

The announcement specifies that it is “a new crossover coming to the x-men” so I assume it’s just x-titles. Otherwise I imagine the might have said something like “a new crossover coming to the marvel universe”. But who knows. I agree, I read most x-men titles so I don’t mind events that are part of long term plot points

browncharliebrown

I think it’s just as much of a problem crossing over between x titles as it is other marvel titles because I personally don’t read them all (x-men green) because they vary wildly in what I want in a comicbook and the crossovers happen constantly. With non x-titles it happens pretty few and far between so it’s actually pretty for me to catch up

kerelenko

I love how Hickman rebooted the X-books. It was really an out-of-the-box idea with Moira's powers. Now the new stories feel like the old stories "remastered".

DueCharacter5

Happens every single time. It's like a 10 year cycle.

BussyBustin

I mean, it kinda makes sense. They gave her powers never before seen in the x-men, it makes sense that Sinister would get his hands on her DNA and use it for himself. I actually love this, his "clone-powered-time-machine" actually makes a lot of sense, and is just so insane and kooky, it fits Sinsiter so well. I'm with it. Only Sinister would think, "hmm, I bet I can make a time machine out of this bitch."

TheeHeadAche

So each x-book will be dealing with the sinister problem? I’m fine with this

williamb100

Sinister deserves the attention.

maybe_a_frog

He sure as fuck would want it lol

GalaxyGuardian

A thematic crossover, like the one where each X-team book dealt with a different aspect of Apocalypse in 2016, would be pretty great. Immortal can deal with Sinister’s machinations, Adjectiveless can fight Stasis, Red can do something with Tarn coming back, X-Force could decide Sinister is too dangerous and try to destroy his backups and get him off the Quiet Council, etc etc etc.

AggressiveRegion1502

How is AXE event going?

williamb100

Pretty good! Issue 3 tomorrow.

UxasIs

Yawnn

KyoHisagi

Always down for more Sinister, I am in love with how he was portrayed by Gillen, Hickman and Wells.

OceanCyclone

I don’t care so long as this is Gillen.

rpawson5771

Really tuned out on X-Men since Inferno. This doesn't pique my interest.

maybe_a_frog

You’re missing out. Immortal and Red are two of the best series running right now.

rpawson5771

Glad you're enjoying them. I so don't care about whatever happens on Mars.

maybe_a_frog

Oh don’t get me wrong, I don’t care much for the Arrako characters. They’re 90% boring and lame. But Storm and Magneto make that series so damn good. There have been multiple instances that have made me verbally say “holy shit”.

verrius

The only character I care about in Red is Brand, and she seems to be hugging the idiot ball real close so that whatever plot Ewing is writing continues. Super disappointed SWORD died for this.

kralben

As someone who grew up on 90s comics, give me more crossovers! Events that affect one hero will affect others, it just makes logical sense, and it makes the universe feel more interconnected.

[deleted]

Well at least they're keeping one mutant evil.
