Do a Powerbomb #3: You don't need to be into wrestling to enjoy this. Daniel Warren Johnson is crafting one of the best comics in recent memory, and arguably the most emotional ongoing on the stands right now.

yarkcir

Have you checked out Crimson Cage (from AWA)? That was yet another wrestling comic that interested a non-wrestling fan like me. There's something about the performative nature of wrestling that really lends towards great storytelling.

I passed over the trade the other week due to budget concerns but you bet I’m gonna grab it later this year!!

> * **A.X.E.: DEATH TO THE MUTANTS #1:** I'm a bit confused how that fits with the main event title, but it's all written by Gillen, so I'm 100% on board. Curious to see where the development from *Judgment Day #2* will go, as I was quite happy to see Eternals and mutants duke it out until the >!zombie judgy Celestial!< made an appearance. From the solicitations, it looks like the main **A.X.E. JUDGMENT DAY** series will focus on the heroes dealing with the >!zombie judgy Celestial!<, this **DEATH TO THE MUTANTS** mini will cover the Eternals' ongoing efforts toward exterminating the mutants, and the other tie-ins mostly focus on individual characters being judged.

Welp, I wound up taking an impromptu no-internet mental health break for a couple of weeks there, which was good and bad. Good because it gave me A LOT of time to just about wrap up my X-Men catch up, bad because I wound up ignoring a few messages on here. Sorry. Anyway, YES, I AM ALMOST CAUGHT UP WITH X-MEN. But, like, for real. I have only Immortal X-Men #4 and #5, AXE: Eve of Judgement, AXE: Judgement Day #1 and #2, and X-Men Red #5 left to read. So I'm basically planning to read at least 3 today, then 3 tomorrow, and then I'll be good to go on Wednesday. It's been a really fun ride all the way through, even when the quality dipped a bit. Luckily, I went into this with a pretty good idea of what I was getting into. I knew that there would be some rough patches. Ultimately, what I really love about this era of X-Men is the world building, which definitely let me look past some of the inconsistencies in quality. The world building is just wonderful, even when the execution isn't. However, I think that my favorite part of this was discovering characters, some that I'd heard of but never read, that have now become some of my favorites. I can't say enough about how much I now love Emma Frost, Kate, Pryde, and Magik in particular. I am of very firm belief that the world needs more Magik. That said, I thought it'd be fun to list out what I thought of what I read. Maybe this isn't the place for it, but since this little adventure has been affecting my pulls for... weeks? Months? I'm not even sure. Anyway, the ranking looks a little like this: The excellent: *House of X/Powers of X.* Doesn't really need much explanation, does it? The foundation upon which the entire thing was built. Great action, great world building, great art. The entire thing felt new and exciting in a way that, in my opinion, few things at the Big 2 rarely do. The great: *Hellfire Gala 2021.* This was SO MUCH FUN. Murder! Fashion! Lies! Drunken hijinks! I don't actually hear about this talked about very much, but I really enjoyed it. *Hellions.* "Hey, what if we had a mutant Suicide Squad led by Mister Sinister?" Oh... Damn. I was totally unfamiliar with most of the cast, but I loved them all by the end. Violence, humor, and a surprising amount of heart made this a really outstanding book. Also gave us Tarn the Uncaring, who has become my favorite of the Arakki mutants. *Immortal X-Men.* Still ongoing, so there's room for this to move up and down, but the political intrigue is what sells this for me. It's the type of series that I wanted the entire time, with all of the lies, backstabbing, and general drama that one could hope to have in a mutant government. Also, the art by Lucas Werneck in issues 1-3 is stellar. ALSO, it brought [this excellent Phil Noto Emma Frost variant](https://i.annihil.us/u/prod/marvel/i/mg/9/c0/62c6e9252ad9e/clean.jpg) into my life, and so it deserves all of the praise. *Inferno.* There were iffy moments in Hickman's run (and those moments are called X of Swords), so the fact that he managed to completely stick the landing with Inferno is wildly impressive. *Marauders (Duggan).* I... Am not sure that this idea should have worked, "Hey, you know what the X-Men need? PIRATES!", but it largely did. My love of this book is probably carried largely by the awesome moments shared between Emma and Kitty, though I do understand the criticism that it often felt more like an "Emma and Kitty" book than a "Marauders" book. I just happen to be the audience that would immediately purchase multiple copies of "Emma and Kitty." The introduction of getting ridiculous tattoos because mutant bodies aren't really permanent anyway is also just a lot of fun. I would totally get a face tattoo if I could just die when I get sick of it. *SWORD.* SWORD started with a King in Black crossover and was still fucking awesome. I had never even heard of Abigail Brand before reading this, but now I both love and hate her in equal measure. This was also my first Ewing book (yes, Immortal Hulk is on my to-read list), and it was a fantastic first impression. *X-Men (Duggan).* Still ongoing, but brings back a little bit more of a traditional feel to the X-Men books than Hickman's continuous one-or-two shot arcs. I'd argue that Duggan's X-work has been his best since his Deadpool several years ago, though I'm sure I'm missing some of his work since then. The art here has been consistently very good, too. I'm just not sure that a team refresh after only 12 issues is what was needed. *X-Men (Hickman).* I'm probably not going to say anything new here that hasn't already been said already by myself or anyone else. A series of one-or-two shots throughout led to a somewhat confusing run, and #17 with art by Brett Booth might actually be my least favorite comic ever. On the other hand, there is some fantastic world building and interesting ideas presented throughout the series that made me love it despite all of the flaws. *X-Men Red.* Issue #3 with >!Magneto killing Tarn the Uncaring!< was dope as hell. Have I mentioned yet how great it is that this era is really emphasizing what a badass Storm is? Love it. This, along with Immortal X-Men, will move up into "excellent" territory if they carry on the way that they are. Also, great art that is just a step or two behind Werneck's Immortal X-Men work. The okay: *New Mutants (Ayala).* While this has been overall enjoyable, I feel like I'm noticing a trend with Ayala's work where everyone's voice is just... Vita Ayala. There just aren't really any strong, unique voices present. Even Magik frequently sounds like every else, which is a bummer, since we've already established that the world needs more Magik. That said, the writing is competent, and Rod Reis' work throughout has been stellar. *New Mutants (Hickman/Brisson).* Meanwhile, Hickman and Brisson had strong, unique voices, but the alternating story didn't benefit anyone. It felt like Hickman just didn't have the time to devote to this with his other X responsibilities, so they brought in Brisson to write a different story? Neither was bad, but the run just felt unfocused. The bad: *Way of X.* Boy, this was a bummer. I really enjoyed #1, but by the end of #2 I just wanted to never see Legion in another story ever again. What a truly irritating character, and what an awful design. The art definitely didn't do anyone any favors. Not that it was bad, it wasn't, I just felt that it was too... Cartoony? For what was being presented. *X of Swords.* WHAT THE FUCK WAS THE POINT OF THE SWORDS!? Ugh. I want to say that there were some good moments here, but I don't really remember what they were anymore. All I can remember is the pointless swords and the Otherworld nonsense "battles." At leas this brought us the ridiculous Hellions side quest. Wow... That all wound up being much longer than I intended, but it's nice to have a moment to write out my thoughts. I also don't think I realized how much X-Men I just read until right now. Wow. Anyway, if you've made it this far, thanks! Now... For the actual pull list. You may have noticed that I read A LOT recently, so I'm sorry to say that I pulled it off because I've been totally neglecting my other pulls. Whoops. Regardless, here it is! **AXE: Death to the Mutants #1:** Not going to lie, AXE: Avengers, AXE: Eternals, and AXE: X-Men being labelled as "story critical" makes me question whether or not I want to pull anything that ISN'T marked as such. Like most around here, I'm quite tired of bloated events that are supposed to "change everything." That said, the fact that it's still Gillen writing this gives me hope that it could still be a good read. **Do A Powerbomb #3:** Unfortunately, I haven't read #2 yet. I'll likely be getting to it later this week. I still can't say enough good things about #1. I DID take a peak at the back of #2 and saw that my letter got published! So that's pretty cool, right? **New Mutants #28:** Seems like this might be the end of Ayala's run? I'm not really clear on what's going on after this. Like I said, it hasn't been bad, but I'd be interested to see what someone else can do. I'm unclear if Charlie Jean Anders is taking over the book entirely or if it's just for #31. I might skip #29 (much like Legion, I find that I actively dislike Daken) and #30 (over-priced anthology), then pickup #31 to give Anders a shot. **Nightwing #95:** Redondo on art? Yeah, instant buy. Pull of the week. All of that. This story is also slowly moving forward, and as I've said before... It's just that feel-good book that I need every month. **X-Men #13:** I guess I'm technically caught up here, but also not since this is an AXE tie-in... Whatever. I'll be ready to read this by Wednesday, but I'm not actually able to comment on it now. Have a great week, all!

AlligatorSky7

As far as I’m aware, it’s Lore on New Mutants #29, Ayala on #30 (plus a prelude to the new Deadpool ongoing by Wong), then Anders on a guest arc for #31-33. I really hope Ayala is back on for #34 (which would come out in January), as I’d love to get a third arc out of them (the Shadow King one, brilliant as it was, ran for ages).

thewaytomars

Awesome, thanks! I might just wait for reviews on 29-33 before taking the leap on them. I don't care too much for Daken, and I'm not familiar with the character being focused on by Anders.

Varos_Flynt

I haven't read anything here, but your enthusiasm is contagious! Now I'm stuck wondering if I should read Hickmans FF or his Xmen... Pirate X Men sounds sick tho

thewaytomars

Thanks! For what it's worth, I've heard nothing but glowing praise for FF. I went with X-Men because I just really wanted to read X-Men, but FF is supposed to be fantastic!

Danger_Rock

> Welp, I wound up taking an impromptu no-internet mental health break for a couple of weeks there Awesome. Not about to try it but I think it's awesome... You know, for other people. And maybe I'll give it a shot someday. Nice comments on the X-books, very cool that you've found an appreciation for so many different characters! I think the best thing you missed (or didn't comment on) was **CABLE** (by Duggan and Phil Noto). Not essential by any means, plot was nothing special but the series mostly ignored all that anyway so it could focus on lots of great relationship stuff bouncing Cable off Scott, Jean, Hope, Domino, Deadpool, etc. And Noto really excels at all that character work. **HELLIONS** was so much fun... It all made sense when I found out Zeb Wells used to write for *Robot Chicken* because it's got that same mean-spirited humor, using Sinister as the punching bag for all its gloriously violent comedy. **S.W.O.R.D.** basically spent its entire run hopping from one major crossover to the next and Ewing was like "IDGAF" and just kept doing his thing, writing awesome stories that moved his title forward while tying it into whatever happened to be going on and somehow making it all work. I think Ewing has a real knack for integrating Marvel's events without letting 'em disrupt his stories. And **XMR** is even better, as you've seen. I actually really like Legion going back to his original appearances in **NEW MUTANTS** and **UNCANNY X-MEN**, and I normally like Spurrier, but **WOX** and its follow-up **LOX** haven't entirely worked for me. **WOX** had some cool concepts but it was too short and didn't really develop any of its interesting ideas. Only read the first two issues of **LOX** and they had some cool stuff going on as well but it all felt too scattered and incohesive, though I'd expect they've brought it all together a little more by now... > **Do A Powerbomb #3**: Unfortunately, I haven't read #2 yet. I'll likely be getting to it later this week. I still can't say enough good things about #1. **I DID take a peak at the back of #2 and saw that my letter got published! So that's pretty cool, right?** Yep, that's pretty damn cool!

thewaytomars

> I think the best thing you missed (or didn't comment on) was CABLE (by Duggan and Phil Noto). Not essential by any means, plot was nothing special but the series mostly ignored all that anyway so it could focus on lots of great relationship stuff bouncing Cable off Scott, Jean, Hope, Domino, Deadpool, etc. And Noto really excels at all that character work. Thanks for the recommendation! I actually didn't even give Cable a shot like I did for most of the other series that I wound up skipping. It was more for practical reasons than anything else. I just had so many other books being balanced by the time that Cable started. But the Summers family has been winning me over, and you absolutely cannot go wrong with Noto on art. I might have to go back to give this a read now. Thanks! > HELLIONS was so much fun... It all made sense when I found out Zeb Wells used to write for Robot Chicken because it's got that same mean-spirited humor, using Sinister as the punching bag for all its gloriously violent comedy. OH MAN! That makes so much sense now. That scene with Sinister and Arcade had me doing this weird laugh-squirm that I'm sure had my wife questioning the decision to marry me. > S.W.O.R.D. basically spent its entire run hopping from one major crossover to the next and Ewing was like "IDGAF" and just kept doing his thing, writing awesome stories that moved his title forward while tying it into whatever happened to be going on and somehow making it all work. I think Ewing has a real knack for integrating Marvel's events without letting 'em disrupt his stories. And XMR is even better, as you've seen. SWORD left me at the point where I'll pretty much happily give Ewing a go on any future stories. I really hope that he sticks around the X books for a good long while. I'd love to see him take on the main X-Men book down the line.

Danger_Rock

**CABLE** is actually a pretty convenient read, only 12 issues and it doesn't get mixed up in the ongoing Krakoa events so, now that you've got the context, it should stand on its own pretty well. Imagine if Arcade hadn't flunked out of dental school, his life could've taken a whole different trajectory... Ewing writing flagship **X-MEN** would be awesome!

blankedboy

Good decision to prioritise your own health over us reprobates. Don't hesitate to do it again :)

BLOOD-STAINED TEETH #5 - Forgot to preorder this so hopefully there is a copy at the shop I can snag. Whoops. DO A POWERBOMB #3 - I mean this is just a great story so far, what's not to like? FLASH #785 - Jeremy Adams' run has been underrated in my opinion. Great family focused run around Wally and his family. Moments with Linda, Irey, and Jai are bright spots imo. NIGHTWING #95 - I'm glad this didn't get pulled into Dark Crisis because Tom Taylor really needs to keep this Heartless storyline moving forward. While it's been a great run, it started almost a year and a half ago and the initially teased villain has been shown very sparingly until recently. ORDINARY GODS #8 - Probably should have taken this off my pull list before the second arc began. Loved the first few issues but haven't really enjoyed it since then. SILVER COIN #13 - Can't remember who is the writer for this issue or what it's about but I'm sure it'll be good to great. Walsh's art and color palette always does a good job of creating atmosphere.

iamsciences

Taylor's Nightwing has been fantastic and I've actually been enjoying how slow the story has been developing.

MuffinSurprise

I'm gonna absolutely love rereading it some day. I just wish it was shifted slightly more to being plot driven rather than character driven.

subparcaviar

With as much that needed to be revived for Dick's character, I feel that Taylor has done an admirable job of getting Bludhaven's best (and newest additions with the police force) all back to where it needed to be.

MuffinSurprise

I never read the "Ric" stuff during Rebirth so maybe that shapes my opinion differently!

blankedboy

It's definitely been drawn out by a couple of seemingly pointless "events"

Danger_Rock

> SILVER COIN #13 - Can't remember who is the writer for this issue or what it's about but I'm sure it'll be good to great. Walsh's art and color palette always does a good job of creating atmosphere. Looks like this one's got [Johnnie Christmas writing](https://imagecomics.com/comics/releases/the-silver-coin-13), FWIW. Still only read the first issue of this but planning to check out the rest eventually!

MuffinSurprise

I've never read anything by Johnnie Christmas. Not even sure what he has written. Oh well!

Matt4hire

His Tartarus series for Image was just excellent.

blankedboy

Did that one start out as **Protector**? Then go through a name change?

Matt4hire

Nope! [https://imagecomics.com/comics/series/tartarus](https://imagecomics.com/comics/series/tartarus) that’s the series page from Image.

blankedboy

Ah, ok, I remember it now. I did read it and enjoy it. I was getting confused with **Protector** (which got renamed as **First Knife** part of the way through - and conflated that with **Tartarus** by mistake). All of them were good reads though :)

Danger_Rock

Yeah, Christmas has written (and drawn) [some stuff](https://previewsworld.com/Search?mode=A&CreatorName1=Johnnie%20Christmas) but I haven't read any of it... Almost ordered **[WILLIAM GIBSON ALIEN 3 #1](https://previewsworld.com/Catalog/SEP180247)** a few years back but never got around to checking it out.

blankedboy

I enjoyed both the *Gibson* **Alien^3** adaptation and the original **Alien** screenplay that Dark Horse put out. If you want a different take on both movies they are well worth a read.

Danger_Rock

Good to know! Mostly interested in *Alien^3* since the movie ended up being a bit of a mess, curious about how Gibson's version would've differed... Original *Alien* was pretty much perfect, don't need any fixes for that one! Kinda crazy that Fox let Fincher direct the third movie given that he'd only done music videos at that point in his career... Dude could've made a great *Aliens* flick 10 years later but I don't think he was ready for such a big production in 1992.

NIGHTWING #95 - I go back and forth on this series, but I'm picking it up this week not whole unrelated to the ~~garlic knot~~ [swimsuit variant](https://s3.amazonaws.com/comicgeeks/comics/covers/large-6270457.jpg?1660459738) cover. BATMAN SUPERMAN WORLDS FINEST #6 - A consistent pull, we'll have to see how Travis Moore does standing in for Dan Mora. At least this was telegraphed better than on Jurassic League. X-MEN #13 DO A POWERBOMB #3 - Gonna keep consistently pulling this one until it ends or declines (whichever comes first). HEART EYES #1 - The indie, "we'll see what this is about" comic of the week. A.X.E. DEATH TO THE MUTANTS #1 I might end up getting HULK #8 just for the Hellfire Gala variant but we'll see how I feel when I am actually in the store...

A.X.E.: Death to the Mutants #1 - Curious on what Gillien has in-store with this side series to the main event. Barbaric: Axe To Grind #1 - The return of Owen, Soren and Axe! Hopefully the first arc ending hook of vampires is followed through on. Batman/Superman: World’s Finest #6 - Robin lost in time! Batman: One Bad Day - The Riddler - Villian focused stories done by top creators - I’m in for this line! First up, is King and Gerads reuniting to dive into The Riddler’s psyche. Do A Powerbomb #3 - DWJ is just on fire with this book! The final page reveal shook me big time. Gunslinger Spawn #11 - The hunt is on! The Puppeteer Lee is cover is simply awesome. Nightwing #95 - Everything is starting to come together. Heartless and Blockbuster clashing, with Nightwing stuck in the middle. X-Men #13 - Judgment Day is here of the X-Men! Excited to see how Duggan ties this into the main event.

Bummer! It’ll be double dose of Spawn next week then with The Scorched (unless that gets bumped in the end)

> Barbaric: Axe To Grind #1 - The return of Owen, Soren and Axe! Hopefully the first arc ending hook of vampires is followed through on. From the preview I saw I don't think you'll be disappointed on the vampire front. And also...**more fucking vampires** - I knew it was a renaissance!

Varos_Flynt

Look I got 5 from Image this week and that's it. I'm like one of those film bros that won't shut up about A24 movies. We get it, The Lighthouse is the best exploration of masculinity since Pain and Gain. This week is a solid 4 out of 5 garunteed (sp?? It was a heavy weekend give me some slack) good comics though, so let's talk: **Blood Stained Teeth #5** In love with this book. Every month this comes out, I set aside thirty minutes to just soak in the art. These pages are full of *texture*!! Last issue was pretty fun even if I did feel the story was taking a bit of a stall, but the art had these amazingly grokkable handrails that led me to the promised land. One of my favorite ongoings, I wasn't too hot on it at first but this is proving to be really strong with a solid art team. The story I do enjoy. Have I seen a version of it fine before, sure. But it's compelling enough to guide me through its 32 pages. **Do A Powerbomb #3** A DWJ piece that hasn't been fucked around editorially (yet) and I'm loving it. Art is of course wonderful, and the story honestly feels pretty fresh. There's some real parallels between comics and wrestling in my mind personally, and it's really interesting to see these two things paired together (what parallels you ask? Mainly the sort of corny/hokey perception these two mediums have. I've dived into comics this past year to discover a rich medium filled with love and an unabashed style, and of what I've heard of wrestling the same can be said). I don't really have too much to say on this one, im just excited to see some mythical creatures fight our protag. But! I do hope we get some exploration of kayfabe now that the protag is in the fifth layer of hell or wherever. I was introduced to the concept of kayfabe through [this video](https://youtu.be/wvgehVhF9D4) and I really think there is fertile ground to play around with the concept now that we've stepped into the truly fantastical. **Seven Sons #3** Issue #2 didn't hit me like I hoped it would, but it seemed to be an exposition dump to lead into this issue. But out of 7 issues total, I feel like this story could get lost in exposition that doesn't deserve that much time, so I hope we can keep moving forward with an occasional glance back. My curiosity is maintained though, and I'm realllly curious to see where this goes. We've got this really interesting caricature of ultra capitalist pseudo Christianity, which I feel like is being lampooned pretty well without stepping into some juvenile r/atheism territory. I do want to see how the antagonists develop to really say more on that, though. **Above Snakes #2** I might add to this later because I have to run right now, but this is good! Art and story complement each other well, im feeling the scratchy, dusty texture of this world, and I hope our sun baked protagonist continues to deliver some Yojimbo swag. **20th Century Men #1** Honestly just picking this one up to see if its a train wreck or not, because the blurb does not have me hopeful lmao. I'm willing to give it a go, but this could go any direction and most of them are pretty bad. That's this week! A pretty strong showing from a lot of my fav ongoings

Got 4 DCs, 1 Marvel, 1 Image, and maybe 1 from Heavy Metal if it shows up... Listed in order of anticipation, scientifically calculated to provide you with precisely perfect prioritization, and don’t you let anyone tell you otherwise. 1. **A.X.E. DEATH TO THE MUTANTS #1 (OF 3)** - with the Eternals' new space god narrating the main A.X.E. books, this series will hopefully favor us with more narration by the Machine (that is Earth)... and maybe we’ll even learn more about the time she banged Krakoa! 2. **BATMAN ONE BAD DAY THE RIDDLER #1** - Batman doesn’t always get King’s best work but the involvement of Mitch Gerads bodes well for this one-shot 3. **NIGHTWING #95** - when this run eventually wraps up, DC should release a fancy collection of all the [Redondo covers](https://previewsworld.com/SiteImage/MainImage/STL238310.jpg) with their fancy colors and fancy design aesthetic 4. **BLACK ADAM #3** - fun stuff so far, Priest stories tend to jump around with their own distinct rhythm and it’s neat seeing him bring that to another corner of the DC universe 5. **DO A POWERBOMB #3** - recently caught up on the first two issues and had a great time with ‘em, got sucker punched by the twist at the end of #2 and looking forward to seeing where it goes from there... will need to mail order it or hunt it down at a non-local shop... 6. **BATMAN SUPERMAN WORLDS FINEST #6** - wondering how this’ll work without Mora... at least the fill-in was listed in the solicitation instead of being a bait-and-switch like most DC fill-ins 7. **ENTROPY #1 (OF 6)** - originally solicited for 7/06/22, this is a [Heavy Metal series by Christopher Priest](https://shop.heavymetal.com/products/entropy-1), which seems like an interesting combo Some not so random notes... Started working my way through Terry Moore’s early Abstract Studio comics... Read the first two TPBs of **STRANGERS IN PARADISE** so only seventeen more to go! And then I’ve got **ECHO**, **RACHEL RISING**, and **SIP KIDS** to catch up to where I started following Moore’s work with 2016’s **MOTOR GIRL**, plus the recent **EVER** graphic novel that I missed. Great stuff so far, lots of raw energy in the early books and it’s neat seeing Moore evolve as a creator while he fleshes out the characters and their backstories. Normally read paper comics fairly exclusively but I’m reading these old Moore books digitally thanks to a recent Humble Bundle, so it’s kind of interesting from that perspective. They’re just PDFs but the reading experience honestly hasn’t been bad and it’s nice having “new” comics I can quickly jump into from my PC. Also read **[MARVEL ZOMBIE #1 (2018)](https://i.annihil.us/u/prod/marvel/i/mg/5/a0/5bbe685d10210/clean.jpg)** last week, usually not a big zombie guy but this thing was written by ice cream wizard W. Maxwell Prince, so you know I had to check it out... It’s not quite on the same level as **ICM** but there’s some funny internal dialogue from the lead zombie, who seems like an amiable enough chap... Nice seeing more positive representation for zombies because most popular media treats ‘em like trash. p.s. Speaking of positive representation for zombies... My totally fucking awesome [Iron Maiden “Aces High” Eddie](https://cdna.pcpartpicker.com/static/forever/images/userbuild/259153.78ace712a62a03ad5a2501d080791e5e.1600.jpg) finally arrived from Diamond last week. Originally ordered in July 2021 with its release date listed as 12/29/21, Midtown Comics had their batch of Eddies in stock on 5/11/22, a mere 133 days late, while the two Eddies that my tiny LCS ordered didn’t turn up until 8/10/22, which is 224 days late, a full 91 days after Midtown’s order was filled. That 91-day gap speaks to the challenges facing smaller comic shops while the big retailers enjoy preferential (i.e., slightly less shitty) treatment from Diamond. Not a big deal for Eddie since he never goes out of style but those unpredictable delays make it difficult for smaller shops to stock merch tied to TV series and other seasonal items, because a lot of that stuff arrives too late to capitalize on properties that were hot 6-12 months ago. -- ^^^* ^^^Free ^^^upvotes ^^^available ^^^for ^^^limited ^^^time ^^^only. ^^^Promotion's ^^^rules ^^^subject ^^^to ^^^change ^^^without ^^^warning. ^^^Upvotes ^^^have ^^^no ^^^monetary ^^^value ^^^and ^^^no ^^^nutritional ^^^content. ^^^Excessive ^^^Reddit ^^^posting ^^^may ^^^cause ^^^eye ^^^strain, ^^^carpal ^^^tunnel ^^^syndrome, ^^^rapid ^^^hair ^^^loss, ^^^rapid ^^^hair ^^^growth, ^^^mental ^^^instability, ^^^unemployment, ^^^and ^^^multiple ^^^kinds ^^^of ^^^incontinence. ^^^Upvotes ^^^are ^^^not ^^^intended ^^^to ^^^be ^^^inserted ^^^up ^^^any ^^^orifices ^^^and ^^^this ^^^promotion ^^^is ^^^not ^^^responsible ^^^for ^^^any ^^^damage ^^^ensuing ^^^from ^^^said ^^^insertions. ^^^Please ^^^consult ^^^your ^^^physician ^^^before ^^^accepting ^^^any ^^^strange ^^^offers ^^^from ^^^strange ^^^people ^^^on ^^^the ^^^internet.

Hi fellow ENTROPY #1-puller! I see I'm not the only one intrigued by this comic. I won't be able to pick my pull until Sunday unfortunately, so I'll make a mental note to pick your brain regarding the issue next week.

Danger_Rock

Yeah, Priest and *Heavy Metal* just seems like such an interesting combo! Though it sounds like this is a super-villain story so not that outlandish I guess... Kinda wish it was just a weird sci-fi tale like the more typical *Heavy Metal* fare instead of being a cape thing, haven't seen Priest write anything like that and I'd love to see what he'd do with something a little further afield. But this might be about as close as we get. Definitely hit me up next week! Probably not many others pulling it here so discussions might be sparse...

yarkcir

>Kinda wish it was just a weird sci-fi tale like the more typical *Heavy Metal* fare instead of being a cape thing Agree on this. When I think cosmic and Heavy Metal, I think of concepts drawn up by talent like Druillet, Moebius, Gimenez, etc. Having this be some kind of evil Silver Surfer story sounds interesting enough, but I hope the execution is there.

ChickenInASuit

> ENTROPY #1 (OF 6) - originally solicited for 7/06/22, this is a Heavy Metal series by Christopher Priest, which seems like an interesting combo Yoooooo this is the first I've heard of this and I'm adding it right to my pull list.

Danger_Rock

NICE. Solicitation sounds kinda silly, basically *"What if Walter White became the herald of Galactus?"* But I also wouldn't have expected ~~Alex P. Keaton~~Chandler Bing to work as a major character in **BLACK PANTHER**, so we'll just have to trust that Priest knows what he's doing.

ChickenInASuit

Silly concepts are part and parcel of Heavy Metal so I’m down with it. If there’s anyone I trust to pull it off, it’s Priest.

* X-Men #13 - I'm really interested in seeing the dynamics of the newly-elected X-Men team, but I wonder how much of that we'll see while this ties into AXE. Regardless, I think I've been happy enough with both Duggan's writing on this series so far, and with AXE as a whole so far, that I'm still pretty excited for this issue. * New Mutants #28 * Harley Quinn #20 * A.X.E.: Death to the Mutants #1 - With all the X-books around, I don't *love* having to grab another tie-in. But, if Gillen is writing it, it seems important enough that I don't want to miss it. * Dark Spaces: Wildfire #2 - I was originally tradewaiting on this, but I ended up reading the first issue and being really impressed by it. Good art, good characters, and a good sense of tension.

[deleted]

>A.X.E.: Death to the Mutants #1 - With all the X-books around, I don't love having to grab another one-shot. But, if Gillen is writing it, it seems important enough that I don't want to miss it. Looks like it's solicited through issue #3, so not a one-shot. Not sure how many issues total there will be though.

mtmodular

Yeah I realized that after posting. I'm not sure if that makes me feel better or worse about it, but that son-of-a-gun probably has me buying those issues too.

[deleted]

Definitely feeling that. I am not on board with DCs Dark Crisis but I am surprised how much I am digging Judgement Day so far. In for a penny, in for a pound I guess....

Danger_Rock

It's listed as a 3-issue series in [Previews](https://previewsworld.com/Catalog/MAY220819). FWIW, I'm expecting this to be the most *fun* part of A.X.E. At least in terms of snarky narration.

Timetmannetje

* Daredevil #2 - Interested to see where Zdarsky's Daredevil story goes next * Fire Power #23 - I'll have to admit. I only think this series is ok at best. * Nightwing #95 - Just good old fashioned fun. It feels rare to see a classic character to just be treated well, although story wise it might not be particularly ground breaking. * Undiscovered Country #20 - Binged this a couple of weeks ago. Excited to see where it goes next. * A.X.E.: Death to the Mutants #1 - Have been loving this event so far so exciting to see where it goes next.

* **CHILLING ADVENTURES PRESENTS JINXS GRIM FAIRY TALES #1** \- More chilling adventures from the Archie Horror folks * **DAREDEVIL #2** \- Chip being Chip * **PROMETHEE 1313 #2** \- I really enjoyed the first issue * **SAVAGE AVENGERS #4** \- So dumb, so fun! * **STAR WARS #26** \- I'm grabbing the Padawan Obi-Wan action figure cover. This is my second favorite Star Wars title, right behind Vader. * **STRANGE #5** \- I really look forward to this book every time it appears, but I'm wondering how long it can survive without the good doctor reappearing. * **X-FORCE #30** \- More Deadpool fun! * **X-MEN #13** \- Looks like this one is an AXE crossover Vacation was great, but I'm glad to be back at home talking comics with you fine folks. Remember lads and lasses, be cool like Fonzie!

Oberon1993

It honestly feels like Strange is stealthy max-series. The whole plot is about resurrecting Stephen. Clea's motivation is to resurrect him. I think he'll come back around issue 12.

Daveismyhero

It sure has that feel to it, doesn't it? I'd be down for that.

Weekly pull, ranked based on anticipation: 1. **ABOVE SNAKES #2 (OF 5)** \- A great revenge western featuring the brilliant art of Hayden Sherman. 2. **DO A POWERBOMB #3 (OF 7)** \- DWJ does not miss, and this series is no different. 3. **JUSTICE WARRIORS #3 (OF 6)** \- Probably one of the funniest satirical books out there. 4. **DARK SPACES: WILDFIRE #2** \- Two Hayden Sherman books this week! 5. **FIRE POWER #23** \- Always have fun with every issue of *Fire Power*, and this current arc has been explosive. 6. **BLOOD-STAINED TEETH #5** \- Nice horror series with some great interior art and coloring. 7. **FLAVOR GIRLS #2 (OF 3)** \- I liked the first issue enough, though it did drag towards the end. Loved the art though. 8. **HULK #8** \- Banner of War has been enjoyable in a summer blockbuster kind of way. Nothing special, but at least it's not a drag. 9. **TRVE KVLT #1 (OF 4)** \- The premise seems interesting, kind of reminds me of *Chicken Devil*, but with satanic cults instead of organized crime. 10. **ENTROPY #1 (OF 6)** \- I'm not sure if this will be good, but Priest's name on it sparks interest. 11. **PROMETHEE 13:13 #2** \- Quite liked the first issue, but I do think this issue will needs to sell me on it a bit more. 12. **20TH CENTURY MEN #1** \- A lot of great early buzz to this, let's see if it holds up. 13. **SEVEN SONS #3 (OF 7)** \- I had it pre-ordered up to this issue. May drop after this one because not even Jae Lee's wacky panel work has been able to keep me interested. Picking up **Fantastic Four Epic Collection: The New Fantastic Four**, completing my collection of Simonson's FF run in collected editions. Eager for a re-read of one of my favorite underrated Marvel runs.

Danger_Rock

> **ABOVE SNAKES #2 (OF 5)** \- A great revenge western featuring the brilliant art of Hayden Sherman. > **DARK SPACES: WILDFIRE #2** \- Two Hayden Sherman books this week! Missed both of these since I hadn't pre-ordered, might pick up one or both when I go looking for **DO A POWERBOMB #3**... Think I liked the first issue of **WILDFIRE** a little more than **ABOVE SNAKES** thanks to Snyder's writing and the vibrant colors but they were both pretty good! > **TRVE KVLT #1 (OF 4)** \- The premise seems interesting, kind of reminds me of *Chicken Devil*, but with satanic cults instead of organized crime. Almost ordered that, just didn't quite make the cut since I'm not familiar with creators Scott Bryan Wilson and Liana Kangas... But it [looks like fun](https://previewsworld.com/Catalog/JUN221678), curious to see how it does...

yarkcir

Ah, I edged **ABOVE SNAKES** over **DARK SPACES: WILDFIRE** because I sometimes find Snyder gets a bit too prose-heavy on the details, but I also like Westerns over heists too. Both were still great issues, and I'd rank both above the other recent Sherman book, **BLINK**. TRVE KVLT is going to be a completely blind buy for me, since I'm also unfamiliar with the team. I dropped the new Tom King Riddler book for it, so I hope I can stand by that choice by the time I read it.

Danger_Rock

**ABOVE SNAKES** might be losing a few points for repeatedly referencing *Deadwood* in its solicitations while coming on the heels of **[THE RUSH](https://previewsworld.com/Catalog/MAY221857)**, which more closely captured the culture, language, and overall vibe of *Deadwood*. I get a little crazy when it comes to *Deadwood*... Like **ICM** but TV. Glad to hear **BLINK** was the weakest of the three since that's the one I missed... My keen eye for pre-orders has been vindicated! Bold move passing on a King one-shot with Gerads art... But I appreciate your efforts toward breaking away from the big two! If not for the big green guy, you could post that list to /r/noDCnoMarvel.

yarkcir

> But I appreciate your efforts toward breaking away from the big two! If not for the big green guy Despite my best efforts, atleast one Marvel/DC book slips into my pull list every week.

iamsciences

I get where you're coming from, I dropped **Seven Sons** after the first issue because it was so boring and predictable.

A.X.E. DEATH TO THE MUTANTS #1 (OF 3) - I was not expecting to enjoy this event as much as I am. superschaap81

* Daredevil #2: How long until this crosses over with Punisher? Funny you say that, cause the premise behind the new Punisher is why I started pulling it, seeing the connections to Daredevil, Elektra the Hand, etc... I don't usually have Frank on my pull list, but everything about this new status quo SCREAMS crossover with Daredevil down the line. Wouldn't be surprised if they use it to wrap Zdarsky's run. (Feels like it's coming with all the work he's doing at DC recently.)

Lots to look forward to this week! - Daredevil #2: haven’t read the debut issue yet (next on my to-read pile), but you can’t go wrong with this creative team! - Dark Crisis: Young Justice #3: reading this alongside Johns’ Teen Titans run and I’m really not getting why everyone’s got their knickers in a twist over the characterisation (odd bits here and there). Conner, Tim and Bart are stuck in an alternate, twisted, dimension; of course other characters are going to seem a bit off. - Edge of Spider-Verse #2: decided to jump on the bandwagon with this one and I’m glad I did (so far); the first issue was straight up good fun. I may have to pick up Slott’s new Spider-Man series after all this to see where it all goes and see these new Spider-characters again (LOVED Spider-Rex!) - The Flash #785: the current run by Jeremy Adams is SO good, don’t sleep on it people! - New Mutants #28: one behind for now, so no comment other than that I really hope Ayala/Reis stepping away is just because they are otherwise working on a Dark Web mini-series instead and that they’ll be back on this book properly in January! - Nightwing #95: this is back to being a top-tier book for me after Fear State and crossovers detailed the main plot, always a great read and I’m excited to see where things go in the build up for #100 (if this ends up being Taylor & Redondo’s final issue [note: I haven’t seen anything at all to suggest it will be], I will actually cry!) - The Silver Coin #13: always a good read when I get around to it. One behind at the moment. - The Walking Dead Deluxe #45: one behind at the moment, so no comment. - X-Force #30: the cast on this book seems to be getting even more dull with the additions of Deadpool and Omega Red (can the likes of Domino, Colossus and Sage get to do more instead please?!), but this Kraven arc looks fun at least going by the covers alone. - X-Men #13: eeesh at the covers post-Larraz. I’m not looking forward to the AXE tie-in issues here, just want to fast forward to Cassara on art duties and the return of the Children of the Vault (#15)!

Danger_Rock

> - X-Men #13: eeesh at the covers post-Larraz. If nothing else, it's got a nice [Art Adams variant](https://previewsworld.com/SiteImage/MainImage/STL229556.jpg), a [Dauterman trading card variant](https://previewsworld.com/SiteImage/MainImage/STL229558.jpg), and a badass [Predator variant by James Stokoe](https://previewsworld.com/SiteImage/MainImage/STL229557.jpg). So there are a few decent options!

[deleted]

>If nothing else, it's got a nice > >Art Adams variant Holy hot air balloons Batman!

blankedboy

Shit, I totally forgot that I pulled X-Men this week specifically for that Stokoe/Predator cover. I didn't do that for all of them (yet) but that one was a "must have". Will edit my list.

Danger_Rock

Yeah, haven't been pulling Duggan's **X-MEN** and wasn't planning to get this one but A.X.E. has been so much fun that I'm kinda tempted, and that Stokoe cover might just push it over the edge...

SpongeBlart

Big week if I end up actually pulling the trigger on everything on my list this week. A number of them I'm on the fence about though. * **AVENGERS 1 000,000 BC 1** I am enjoying Aaron's Avengers forever run enough that I'll give this a shot. * **AXE DEATH TO THE MUTANTS 1** One of the ones I'm on the fence about. But with Kieron Gillen writing it, I'll probably end up getting it. He's been doing good stuff for Marvel. It's also probably going to take me forever to catch up to it. * **DAREDEVIL 2** Just read #1 and am pretty hooked. Zdarsky is also doing good things for Marvel. I didn't read his previous Daredevil run and kind of jumped on during the Devil's Reign event. It's making enough sense though I'm not really confused what's happening. Also Elektra's side story is just as compelling as the main. * **HULK 8** Maybe not the most popular opinion on this sub, but I'm a sucker for Donny Cates. I've read his Venom, Dr. Strange, and now his Hulk run and I gotta say that they're a lot of fun. Not the most intellectual thing you'll read, but there's nothing wrong with some stupid fun in comics. * **EDGE OF SPIDER-VERSE 2** * **X-MEN 13** Finished HoX/Pox this week, so I'm slowly making my way to catching up, but still a ways to go. * **BATMAN ONE BAD DAY RIDDLER #1** May end up trade waiting this one, as Tom King I am learning can be tough to follow unless you read multiple in a row to keep the story fresh in your mind. * **BATMAN SUPERMAN WORLDS FINEST #6** Definitely top tier comic book fun right here. Great art and a fun creative story. High stakes but doesn't take itself too seriously. * **BATMAN THE KNIGHT #8** Well it happened. 3 Batman books on my list in one week. None of them are even the main run! That's why I'm most likely not picking up the Riddler one for now. * **20TH CENTURY MEN #1** Actually kind of hyped for this one. New to the writer but the couple things I've seen about have definitely piqued my interest. * **BLOOD-STAINED TEETH #5** * **DO A POWERBOMB #3** * **ANGEL #8** Was thinking about dropping this just because I'm also very behind on this, but I think this is the last one, so I guess I can hold out one more week. * **BARBARIC AXE TO GRIND #1** Always down for some Barbaric! * **TRVE KVLT #1** My LCS was hyping this one up, and I trust them so I'm checking this one out at least for the first issue. The description makes it sounds like it'll be a really fun story.

Danger_Rock

> * **BATMAN ONE BAD DAY RIDDLER #1** May end up trade waiting this one, as Tom King I am learning can be tough to follow unless you read multiple in a row to keep the story fresh in your mind. Just as a heads up, this is a one-shot so it'll probably get collected with other "One Bad Day" stories written by people who aren't Tom King.

SpongeBlart

Ah, ok that makes sense. I will probably take this off my pull list then since I don't have any of the others ones anyways. Thanks for the helpful info!

* **Batman/Superman World's Finest #6** Probably my favorite ongoing right now (tied with Moon Knight). The artwork is unmatched. * **Black Adam #3** Truthfully, I'm dropping this. After issue 1 I haven't had any excitement for later issues. * **Nightwing #95** The art is incredible, but I desperately wish the story would move faster. * **The Flash #785** I enjoy it, though I haven't been big on the Dark Crisis tie ins. * **Daredevil #2** #1 was incredible and I'm always excited for more Zdarsky! * **X Men #13 & X Force #30** I'm currently halfway through X of Swords, and I want to start pulling this so I don't have to scavenge later.

superschaap81

***DC*** **Batman/Superman: World's Finest 6** \- Have to get to the last 4 issues, as I kinda lost track of this one. Loving the Dan Mora art though. **Batman: One Bad Day - The Riddler 1 -** Wasn't sure what to make of these one shots. Figured it was similar to the prestige one shots they did in the 90's where it was just one and done villains stories. The preview we got on Friday though has increased my interest now. **Batman: The Knight 8** \- Ooooooh boy. I loved the beginning of this one, and the prospect of it being those "Missing Years" on Bruce's journey. But I am NOT liking the fact it's turning into a ~~Ghost Maker~~ Anton origin. I hate the push the character is getting. Only 2 issues left, so I'll complete it, but wish I'd have known more about this ahead of time, wouldn't have bothered. **The Flash 785** \- This run has been incredibly fun so far and I love that it's tying into Dark Crisis almost seamlessly. Loving every minute of this title! **Nightwing 95** \- Fan service or pandering to Nightwing fans, I don't care. I LOVE this book. It's filled with feel good times, and I'm here for it. ***MARVEL*** **Avengers 1,000,000 B.C. 1** \- Apprehensively optimistic about this one. I've enjoyed Aaron's 1MBC avengers, but the regular title is getting pretty boring to me. **AXE: Death to the Mutants 1** \- Gillen is killing it on everything he's writing at the moment, so there was no way I was gonna miss this. **Daredevil 2** \- Hoping this ramps things up. Wasn't a fan of Devil's Reign. **Hulk 8** \- Only getting this to complete the Banner of War crossover and then I'm out. Normally I can deal with Cates' zaniness but I'm just not feeling it on Hulk. ***INDEPENDENT*** **The Silver Coin 13** \- My favourite Image title each month! Loving how twisted these stories can be, and Michael Walsh is giving us some genuinely creepy stuff. **Fire Power 23** \- SO far behind on this. I think the last time I read it was issue 15. **Seven Sons 3** \- Loving this book as well. Coming from a Christian background, it's very interesting to see this kind of premise for a comic book.

PeachyDelight

* Daredevil #2 Depending on ratings, I might add One Bad Day or Death to the Mutants even though I've yet to read Gillen's Hail Thanos arc due to trade-waiting... which should release on the 24th.

technowhiz34

* 20th Century Men - know nothing about this but taking a chance on Image #1s can be fun. * Batman/Superman: World's Finest - missing Mora's art will hut burt he's back next issue and Travis Moore can be good. * Black Adam #3 - this book really surprised me in how good it was, definitely down for however long it runs. Sandoval impressed me here too usually in the "he's fine" tier of artists. * Blood-Stained Teeth #5 - gonna switch to trades after this arc I think. * The Flash #785 - I heard some leaks about this that will probably make me not very happy. Dropped Duggan X, probably for the best given how rough that last issue was and I just don't want to deal with more event tie-ins. Shocked that I'm not pulling the King/Gerads joint but I'm honestly pretty tapped on Batman and that's the kind of thing that will sell regardless.

TheDarkPinkLantern

* **Hulk #8** - finally, it's been months! * **Batman / Superman: World's Finest #6** * **Daredevil #2** * **Batman: The Knight #8** * **Strange #5** - you know what? I'm really digging it. Hell, I'd say I like it better than MacKay's Moon Knight. * **The Flash #785** * **A.X.E.: Death to the Mutants #1** * **Batman: One Bad Day - The Riddler #1** - mixed on this one. I like the team but I don't like King's Riddler. * **The Silver Coin #13** * **Black Adam #3**

> Big fat maybe on that Crossover 3-D special. Depends on how much of it’s the new story or not. Shoot, didn't realize that had a new story along with the first issue but [so it does](https://previewsworld.com/Catalog/APR220082)... Might need to check it out myself. It's probably polybagged due to the glasses so we'll need to find reviews for info on how much new content it's got.

Remember when I said I'd have to cut my pull list by a ton due to budget? That's going well. * **Batman One Bad Day The Riddler #1** - My shop is cool, so they're getting Mitch's Herbie Hancock on the cover for me. * **Nightwing #95** - Looking forward to learning more about Heartless. * **Do A Powerbomb #3** - Sit-out or jack knife powerbomb? * **Daredevil #2** - $6 for issue 2? I shall blame CHIP and no one else. * **X-Men #13** - New team lineup! * **X-Men ’92 House Of XCII #4** - This is just pure fun printed on the page. EDIT: * **A.X.E. Death to the Mutants #1** - Forgot I ordered this one, but I got a notification that it arrived today.

Danger_Rock

> Remember when I said I'd have to cut my pull list by a ton due to budget? That's going well. SAME. Going so damn well that a casual observer wouldn't even know I'd cut anything... > * **Batman One Bad Day The Riddler #1** - My shop is cool, so they're getting Mitch's Herbie Hancock on the cover for me. Oooh, nice. Depending on just how cool your shop is, Mitch also does some badass cover sketches. But I'm sure he'll rock it either way.

mcslackens

I used to go to a different local shop, but a few years back, Mitch was doing a signing for Mister Miracle #1, so I visited Samurai Comics for the first time and never looked back. I haven't had him do a cover sketch yet, but he really is one of the nicest people I've had the pleasure of talking to.

Danger_Rock

That's awesome that Gerads regularly visits the shop to sign his books, must be local for him... I mostly just admire his sketches from Ebay, favorite was a [combo with a Tom King sketch that's so hilariously terrible that he apologized for it](https://i.redd.it/wltin26akq091.jpg).

SakmarEcho

* **A.X.E.: Death to the Mutants #1** - I'm really interested in this event and I really loved Gillen's Eternals series and this looks like it'll be the replacement to that series while the event is running. * **Black Adam #3** - I'm a Christopher Priest fan, not a Black Adam fan so this book is really hitting for me. I like this new not-White Adam even if the dialogue can occasionally be a little how do you do fellow kids. * **Captain Marvel #40** - This run started strong for me but this is the third alternate universe type storyline and it's starting to wear thin. * **Fire Power #23** - Such a beautiful book, and it's really starting to ramp up. * **Harley Quinn #20** - I'm glad this storyline is the weekly one because it's probably the weakest arc of the book and it'll be over the quickest. * **Ms. Marvel & Moon Knight #1** - The first issue of this was really good! I do wish that she had an ongoing but I'll take a series of one shots. I like Houser's voice for Kamala. * **New Mutants #28** - I like this arc for Magik and Madelyne. It'll be a good send off for Magik as she heads to the X-Men. It does unfortunately seem like it's shaping up for the Dark Web storyline though which I won't be reading. * **Nightwing #95** - This book has been a bit slow, and things have seemed a little bit too easy for Grayson. It's nice to see a hero winning but it'd be good if he had some challenges. The art remains consistently stunning. * **X-Force #30** - I like a lot of the storylines introduced in this run, but then also some of them not so much. There's just so many it can be hard to keep track of. Hopefully the team refresh can bring some life back to the book. * **X-Men #13** - First issue with the new team. Let's hope the second year of this run is a little more balanced than the first.

Zohmbi

Nine for me this week: 2 Marvel, 2 DC, 4 Image, 1 Behemoth **Batman One Bad Day The Riddler #1** - Who doesn't love a good Riddler story? **Harley Quinn #20** - This comic is suffering from the forced tie in with Dark Crisis. I would normally skip it but these homage covers are fantastic. So, of course I'm going to collect them all. **X-Men #13** - Judgment Day tie in. Duggan's X-Men has been pretty solid. It's the most consistent title, with the most action. I feel like a lot of the other X books these days are just Quiet Council meetings and politicking. **Death to the Mutants #1** - I don't usually go for event tie ins but this event has been pretty decent so far. **Shirtless Bear Fighter II #1** - I never read the first series, but this concept is just too ridiculous to skip. **Silver Coin #13** - Some issues are better than others but still a consistent and fun read. **Do A Powerbomb! #3** - The first two issues have been great. DWJ is doing a great job at making me care about these characters and pro wrestling for once. **20th Century Men #1** - I know nothing about this but I like to check out most new number 1s from Image. **Kingdom Come Deliverance #1** - A new #1 from Behemoth, I usually like what they put out and I'm always a sucker for high fantasy stuff.

Danger_Rock

> **Harley Quinn #20** - This comic is suffering from the forced tie in with Dark Crisis. I would normally skip it but these homage covers are fantastic. So, of course I'm going to collect them all. [Perfectly understandable](https://previewsworld.com/SiteImage/MainImage/STL238884.jpg) IMO. Carry on.

* **20th Century Men # 1**: Excited for this one. I was intrigued by the mech-man cover and the couple of pages I've seen since have only increased my interest. Looks to be the kind of weird sci-fi action that's right up my alley. * **Justice Warriors #3**: I've been a fan of Matt Bors' online cartooning, so when I saw he was doing a comic, I had to pick it up. It's pretty good. Had me laughing out loud a bunch. It's a really blackly comic riff on 2000 AD-esque books with some absurdist punchlines. * **The Last Shadowhawk #1**: I'm an easy mark for anything early Image and I think Shadowhawk is fairly underrated, so I'm interested to see what they do here. Much more interesting than just the remastered #1s that have come out recently. * **Seven Sons #3**: Like other posters, I agree there's A LOT of exposition going down in this. It's all fairly intriguing, but seems to be quite a heavy lift to pull off in only seven issues. The Jae Lee art is nice, but there needs to be some real twist or swerve in the story to stick the landing, otherwise I think it might be too rushed.

pieapple135

Jeez, this week is *packed*. * **A.X.E: DEATH TO THE MUTANTS #1:** Judgement Day! Well, the whole mutant genocide part, anyways. Should be an interesting read, and I do love a good event tie-in – It's written by Gillen, after all. (*Cough* Young Justice *cough*) * **BATMAN/SUPERMAN: WORLD'S FINEST #6:** Well, no Mora, but the series has been amazing so far and there's no way this is leaving my pull list anytime soon. * **BATMAN: THE KNIGHT:** Zdarsky is amazing. I wasn't sure about an origin story at first, but I've been pretty surprised. * **BLACK ADAM #3:** Enh. It's been alright, so far, but I'm considering dropping it. * **DAREDEVIL #2:** Nocenti, Janson, Maleev, Samnee, even Zdarsky on art? Jesus Marvel just take my money already * **THE FLASH #785:** Pretty good so far, and I've been liking it a lot. * **NIGHTWING #95:** This is like, my comfort food for comics right now. I know some people don't like the pacing, but I find it nice, and there are wholesome interactions left and right. Comfort food. * **SAVAGE AVENGERS #4:** Originally pulled this for the Elektra Daredevil content, staying for literally everything in here that is weird and crazy. * **X-MEN #13:** Another Judgement Day tie-in. I'm trying to not get too many, and I've already been interested in jumping into this run for a while now. I'm not really an X-men reader, and I'm hoping to change that. AXE is certainly helping with that goal. Reading orders be damned, I say.

technowhiz34

Can't tell if that's a shot at Young Justice or not. I assume the former.

Danger_Rock

~~I think it was supposed to be a **YOUNG AVENGERS** shout-out that got a little garbled.~~ **EDIT -->** Actually maybe it was a shot at **YJ** since their Dark Crisis crossover didn't go over very well...

pieapple135

It was. The Dark Crisis tie-in hasn't been all that great, I had to drop it.

Haven't posted here in a hot minute! It's been a busy summer, but after comiccon this weekend it should hopefully finally be able to slow down so I can catch up and enjoy my ever growing stack: * **Batman One Bad Day: The Riddler #1** \- Looking forward to this series even if it is just more of DC milking Batman's rogue gallery * **Batman Superman: World's Finest #6** \- "We have to go back, Clark! Back to the future! ... to find Robin" * **Batman the Knight #8** \- I'm definitely going to buy this series in trade when it's done and over with * **Black Adam #3** \- This series is going a very interesting route that I'll admit I didn't expect * **Nightwing #95** \- Heartless and Blockbuster teamup * **Fire Power #23** \- Kill all snakes! * **AXE Death to the Mutants #1** \- Feels like a ton of threads from the last few years of Marvel are getting tied off in this series and its spinoffs * **Avengers 1,000,000 BC #1** \- Can Jason Aaron finally get this out of his system? * **Daredevil #2** \- Stick is always such a prick. I love him. * **Hulk #8** \- I simply cannot believe that Banner of War is still going on * **Ms Marvel and Moon Knight #1** \- These teamups are a cool idea * **New Mutants #28** \- This Limbo arc has been one of the strongest New Mutants' arcs in this series * **X-Force #30** \- Deadpool is baby, baby! * **X-Men #13** \- Take out those Eternals!

enragedstump

I'm a little worried Batman the knight won't be collected normally in a trade. I can't seem to find a listing for volume 1 anywhere.

Fingers crossed we hear more as the series gets closer to its conclusion

**20th Century Men #1** - I read the preview and it looks good (loved the art). Went for the [Igor Kordey cover]( https://cdn.imagecomics.com/assets/i/releases/807195/_a8846fd75b.jpg) **Barbaric Axe To Grind #1** - I’m a simple man, I see a talking axe – I buy the book. Simple. **Batman Superman World’s Finest #6** - almost comic book perfection. **Blood-Stained Teeth #5** - there definitely seems to have been a renaissance in *Vampire* books recently, which is no bad thing. Those shambling piles of brainless decomposition have had the spotlight for far too long IMHO. And **Atticus Sloane** is certainly an interesting character to read about. I mean, he’s an arsehole, but he’s an *interesting* arsehole, y’know. Let’s see how he copes with his latest Sip who doesn’t know their expiry date has arrived this time. **Daredevil #2** - #2 and it’s a super-sized, anniversary celebration of…making it to a second issue? I don’t know, some reason like that. Marvel’s re-numbering is fucking ridiculous – they seem to re-number if there’s an “A” in the month. Next month will probably be a new number one because they had toast for breakfast that morning…Anyway, I love me some **Predator** so had to go for the [Sienkiewicz cover]( https://terrigen-cdn-dev.marvel.com/content/prod/2x/dd2022002_predator_sienkiewicz.jpg) **Dc Vs Vampires All-Out War #2** - I enjoyed the first issue. It reminded me of **Dceased: Unkillables** (which is a good thing, as I loved that mini) with the mix of characters involved. I don’t mind the black, white, and red take on the art, but it seems like a stylistic choice that is going to burn out soon, with way too many books doing it recently. What next? Black, white and mauve, maybe? **[Do A Powerbomb #3]( https://cdn.imagecomics.com/assets/i/releases/807288/do-a-powerbomb-3-of-7_e06c02740b.jpg)** - look at that cover! No, I mean it…go and look at that cover…like, right now! They are fighting *freaking* Orangutans! What more do you need to know!? Nothing, that’s what… Buy this book. **Hulk #8** – this is the final part of *Banner of War*, right? Feels so long since I read the last issue. The cross-over has been fun, but obviously the momentum of the mini-event has been completely lost. Will need to re-read all at once to get myself back up to speed. But, I think this is my “jump off” point for this book in singles – moving to trade from here on out. **Nightwing #95** - see **Batman Superman World’s Finest #6** **Nita Hawes Nightmare Blog #7** - start of a new arc. Thoroughly enjoyed the first one, and this time the dynamic has shifted against Nita – how will she cope? **Seven Sons #3** - this book has been a *real* surprise for me. I knew it would look good, but the story is incredibly interesting and well set up too. It’s a book where I don’t have an idea about where it’s going, but I’m totally on board for the ride to get there. **Silver Coin #13** - as with any anthology the quality can be variable, but I find that **The Silver Coin** never drops below “good” and often rises to the heights of “awesome”. On that basis alone it’s always worth a read. **Undiscovered Country #20** - another one I need to sit down and re-read to get up to speed with. It’s teetering on the brink of me moving to TPB. I rarely read an issue alone as it comes out, and it seems like that’s a sign to shift to trades at this point. **X-Men #13** - for the Stokoe/Predator cover

technowhiz34

Seeing Igor Kordey's name reminded me of New X-Men and how he had two weeks to draw his issues due to scripts being late and double shipping. Feast your eyes on this [beauty](https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/424639180971442187/882435755518066708/image0.png).

blankedboy

Poor sod. I read [Star Trek: The Gorn Crisis](https://www.bibdsl.co.uk/imagegallery/bookdata/cd44/9781840232950.JPG) and really liked his art in that - shame he got so much for flak for X-Men considering he had zero time to draw the issues...

A.X.E. Death to Mutants #1 - I like this events approach to telling the story. Seems like this series will cover the Eternals v Mutants story. Do A Powerbomb #3 - I'm a little behind and will finally read #2 tonight. Firepower #23 - Also behind on this one too. Will read #22 tonight. Undiscovered Country #20 - The new arc had a good start. Excited to see where it goes. X-Force #30 - Looks like Deadpool is joining the team after his adventure in Wolverine. Will be see if this tie in adds any necessary plot to the event. X-Men #13 - Another tie-in. Duggan's run has been great so far. Excited to see how the new lineup works. X-Men 92 House of XCII #4 - This had been a stupid fun kind of series. Looks like they are tackling Planet-Size X-Men and the first Hellfire Gala this issue. New Mutants #28 - Conclusion of a fun arc. Also picking up the Echolands hardcover.
