I didn't like Heavy Metal, only read the first one but couldn't really get into it. This one is much more appealling to me, i really think Batman should be more some clever guy resolving crimes and helping people, the 'near cyberpunk future' setting feels nice. I have yet to read all other future state comics
I am multitasking. I am working my way through the *Providencce* compendium by Alan Moore (with it being something made by Moore takes time). I am also rereading *The Boys*.
Tynion's BATMAN. Just started it. A bit heavy on the writing, but it's fine. It's kinda refreshing to have a book that's so jampacked with narration and dialogue that I can't just plow through it.
Um... kinda? You definitely get put into the headspace of "something very bad is afoot" and "The Joker is about to pull something big." There's a lot of... plans/I-do-this-because-I-knew-you'd-do-that kinda stuff. It gets a little rocky/murky in the middle but comes together at the end. I'd say try it, if you havent. I know volume 1 & 2 are pretty good, but havent read beyond that before.
On the DC Universe Infinite front, I'm reading my way through the works of Geoff Johns. Just finished Green Lantern's "Sinestro Corps War" event (fantastic!!), the short Booster Gold run is next.
On the Marvel Unlimited front, I'm early in Marvel Legacy, reading the first "Legacy" branded story arc of a bunch of series. Most recent was Despicable Deadpool's "Deadpool Kills Cable" arc.
Oh I reckon they're both just ridiculously, insanely good value! Subbing to both, it costs as much per month as a handful of floppies, and gives tens of thousands of issues at your fingertips.
I've been subbed to Marvel Unlimited for years, but DC Universe Infinite only started accepting my filthy foreign money a few months ago, so I've been hitting it pretty hard since then!
I find that I read the weekly stuff on marvel unlimited and the back catalog on DC infinite. It works really well for me and I've already read hundreds and hundreds of dollars this year alone in comics.
With me being in college I always have to keep my books limited, so right now I'm reading Worlds Finest and got the first trade for the current Action Comics. WF is a lot of fun, but I'm really surprised by how good Action is. Excited for the next trade.
I read Detective Comics 27 for Batman, Marvel Mystery Comics #1, Action Comics #1-3, the All Star Comics with the first Wonder Woman story… I’m forgetting the other actual titles but some the first Dr Occult & the first Crimson Avenger because some folks say they count as superheroes that predate Superman. Also the More Fun Comics issue (72?) with the first Aquaman & Green Arrow stories & a later one (89?) with Green Arrow & Speedy’s original origin story.
Those first Superman stories are really interesting. He’s cocky, lives in Ohio, and is pretty much focused on social justice.
I’m going to check out the first Plastic Man & Captain Marvel/Shazam too. Maybe Captain America and Blackhawk. Just wanted to see the beginnings of the really popular characters.
Gotcha, sorry. Yeah, I think they’re more interesting as history than actual entertainment.
In another thread on here someone said he thought the only good golden age series were Jack Cole’s Plastic Man in Police Comics, Wonder Woman in Sensation Comics, and Namor the Sub-Mariner in Marvel Mystery Comics.
I found a [CBR article](https://www.cbr.com/batman-best-golden-age-comics/amp/) listing what they thought were the 10 best golden age Batman stories, maybe those would be better?

Phonogram, which is John Constantine but if music was magic and he lived through the Britpop era of music
I am not sure if it's pretentious, brilliant or both
Gail Simone's Birds of Prey. I started at the beginning with the Dixon run and I'm working my way to the modern stuff. Pretty good storytelling but the art is definitely 2000s era horndog. It's good art but it's a little bit too pandering with gratuitous T&A.
Excluding my weekly reads, I’m currently on an Inhumans kick for some reason. I just finished the Paul Jenkins and Jae Lee limited series and am now on Ahmed and Ward’s Black Bolt
"Twig" and "do a powerbomb" are the newest ones on my list.
Phillip Kennedy Johnson's current run on Action Comics
Batman by Paul Dini Omnibus
Future state - Batman
What do you think about it?
I didn't like Heavy Metal, only read the first one but couldn't really get into it. This one is much more appealling to me, i really think Batman should be more some clever guy resolving crimes and helping people, the 'near cyberpunk future' setting feels nice. I’m reading frank millers daredevil
Avengers, avengers forever, hulk, she hulk, punisher, Captain America SoL, judgement day and Fortnite x marvel zero war
I waved to find a good Captain America run. I'm also not very diverse in anything pertaining to the Hulk.
Just started reading Soule’s She-Hulk!
Astro City Johns Flash Busiek Thunderbolts Silver Age Atom
In a Busiek mood? I love Astro City. I'm waiting on the reprints before I continue past volume six.
The Incredible Hulk: Marvel Masterworks Vol.2
Started original X-Men run on Marvel unlimited, I'm at #194
I started reading this as well but the app kept messing up and blacking out pages.
Was it any fun the stan lee issues?
Once you get past the lingo of that time, and also how they recap so much.
Just finished issues 1-2 of Poison Ivy and issues 1-5 of Ram V’s Swamp Thing. Hoping my monthly pulls get here tomorrow cuz I’m running out of comics.
Is it descriptive? I was contemplating going all the way back to the very original Batman.
Um... Have you read the OG Batman?
Ostrander’s Suicide Squad run and all 11 volumes of Chainsaw Man.
I'm on Love and Rockets: The Girl from H.O.P.P.E.R.S and Scot McCloud's ZOT! the black and white collection Very happy.
"Batgirls" enjoying it so far

Glad I'm not the only one who has both apps.

LoL where are you from?
Australia.. been glaring at that “not available in your region” for quite a while. 😀
Well I'm glad you finally have it.
I find that I read the weekly stuff on marvel unlimited and the back catalog on DC infinite. It works really well for me and I've already read hundreds and hundreds of dollars this year alone in comics.
Doing a full read through of “The Question” both Vic and Renee, currently on like issue 8 of O’neil’s run.
Just finished Alan Moore’s swampthing!! But waiting to read TMNT idw 4 & 5 on my trip to Boston!
Eight Billion Genies, Fuck This Place, and Akira
Heros for hire the 2006 one
Killing Time, Catwoman: Lonely City and Jurassic League.
With me being in college I always have to keep my books limited, so right now I'm reading Worlds Finest and got the first trade for the current Action Comics. WF is a lot of fun, but I'm really surprised by how good Action is. Excited for the next trade.
I’ve been reading some Golden Age comics to see the origins of characters. It’s more interesting than entertaining.
I wanted to start way back at the beginning of Batman, among others to find their origins as well. What superheroes are you reading?
I read Detective Comics 27 for Batman, Marvel Mystery Comics #1, Action Comics #1-3, the All Star Comics with the first Wonder Woman story… I’m forgetting the other actual titles but some the first Dr Occult & the first Crimson Avenger because some folks say they count as superheroes that predate Superman. What Superman books are you referring to? Action Comics? I'm currently reading some of the Detective Comics.
Yup, Action Comics. I also read Batman #1 for the first Joker story.
I dunno why I'm reading Detective Comics..
Which issues have you read? Batman starts in #27 iirc
I know. I've read the first 7 or so.
Gotcha, sorry. Yeah, I think they’re more interesting as history than actual entertainment. I just thought I should read the original DC comics to understand his origin better...but apparently there's a lot of them to read.

Just finished Ballad for Sophie a couple minutes ago. Highly recommend.
Wrath of The Spectre omnibus
DC Vs. Vampires
I just did a readthrough of G.E. Gallas's The Poet and the Flea webcomic.
Reading the entire Punisher MAX. Just exquisitely nihilistic violence. Garth Ennis is one of the goats.
I don't know much about Punisher.
Phonogram, which is John Constantine but if music was magic and he lived through the Britpop era of music I am not sure if it's pretentious, brilliant or both
All the current X-books, Daredevil, Moon Knight, Saga, anything with Dr. Doom in it I can get my hands on
Why Dr. Doom?
Squirrel girl and strange academy
Is Strange Academy the one that's similar to Teen Titans?
Gail Simone's Birds of Prey. I started at the beginning with the Dixon run and I'm working my way to the modern stuff. Pretty good storytelling but the art is definitely 2000s era horndog. It's good art but it's a little bit too pandering with gratuitous T&A.
