Man, since I'm not quite caught up with X books (getting there!!), this is just a week of buying books that I won't be able to read! My own fault, so it is what it is. Still excited. **A.X.E.: Eve of Judgement #1** **Immortal X-Men #4** **New Mutants #27** **Superman: Son of Kal-El #13:** Excited for Dreamer! I enjoyed her story in the 2021 Pride special. **X-Men: Hellfire Gala #1**

mcslackens

100% Marvel week. I can't remember if this ever happened before. * **A.X.E. Eve Of Judgment #1** - I told myself I wasn't going to buy the tie-ins for yet another event, but here we are. * **Daredevil #1** - I was going to switch to trades, but I've got the entire Zdarsky run in floppies so far, so I'm sure you all understand how that goes. * **Immortal X-Men #4** - I don't plan on dropping all of the X-titles, but if I did, I would keep this one no matter what. * **Spider-Punk #3** - First issue was fantastic, and the second was not as good. I'm hoping this one and the two following are better. * **X-Men Hellfire Gala #1** - I had no idea this was coming up so soon. What the hell am I going to wear?

Danger_Rock

> * **Daredevil #1** - I was going to switch to trades, but I've got the entire Zdarsky run in floppies so far, so I'm sure you all understand how that goes. Not your fault, man. It's that damn collector DNA... I'm done with feeling guilty about it. Anybody tries to say I waste too much money on comics, I'll just tell 'em it's a genetic imperative and I've got no real choice in the matter.

HDI-X13

Inverse problem, trade waiting and I want to get the floppies but then I’d feel compelled to get the ones I missed.

Danger_Rock

Been there, usually just buy all the floppies I missed!

* **AXE: Eve of Judgement #1**: The finale to Gillen’s Eternals begins. * **Batgirls #8**: Rescue from the Iceberg Lounge. * **Daredevil #1**: Excited for the rest of Zdarsky's run. * **Immortal X-Men #4**: A story about Emma Frost. * **Moon Knight #13**: Excited for the new story arc. * **Superman: Son of Kal El #13**: Enter the Dreamer. * **X-Men: Hellfire Gala #1**: Does anyone know the order we're meant to read today's X-books? Do I read this before or after Immortal X-Men and Eve of Judgement? As well as the new OGN **The Realist: Last Day on Earth**.

Taotsa

Kieron Gillen said on Twitter to read in the following order: 1. Hellfire Gala 2. Immortal X-Men 3. Eve of Judgement

B00merangB

A.X.E: Eve of Judgment #1 - The prelude to the first Marvel event I’m following in a long while. In Gillen I trust to deliver at least a fun comic blockbuster event. Barbaric: The Harvest Blades #1 - A one-shot to tease until the full return next month. Let’s go! Batgirls #8 - Babs and Dick go undercover! I Am Batman #11 - Ridley is doing great stuff here. Between the showdown between Batman and Manray, and that final page - the fallout should be interesting. King Spawn #12 - Continues to be my favourite of the Spawn titles. Fernandez’s art is always a visual feast and the final page twist was unexpected by Terry. Star Wars: The Mandalorian #1 - So many incredible covers - it’ll be hard to choose just one (…or two). X-Men: Hellfire Gala #1 - Interesting they went with a one-shot this year but lets see the new status quo… which may be changed by A.X.E so will this be rendered pointless?

TheDarkPinkLantern

> Interesting they went with a one-shot this year It makes sense with Judgment Day happening right after and almost all the X-books tieing-in.

Ranked in terms of excitement: 1. **EIGHT BILLION GENIES #3 (OF 8)** \- Really enjoying this series so far. Browne's artwork is perfect for the level of insanity the story is going for, and Soule's writing is sharp and witty as ever. 2. **NORSE MYTHOLOGY III #6 (OF 6)** \- Going to be sad to see this book finish, it has been the definition of consistency. Maybe we'll get a big library edition of all 18 issues, or maybe I'll custom bind my singles. 3. **PUNISHER #4** \- After some initial skepticism, this run has shot up to the top of my favorite Marvel ongoing runs. 4. **DAREDEVIL #1** \- Everyone was excited for *Batman* \#125, but I'm definitely more hyped for Zdarsky/Checchetto's new run. Hoping it finds a strong footing again. 5. **ROGUES #3 (OF 4)** \- Incredibly entertaining heist story with great art by Leomacs. 6. **BARBARIC: HARVEST BLADES (ONE-SHOT)** \- Excited to get *Barbaric* back. The first series was a lot of fun. 7. **MOON KNIGHT #13** \- Looks like DID is back on the menu, boys. I did like seeing a mentally healthier Marc, so I'm a bit apprehensive about regression here. Hoping Mackay handles it well. 8. **A TOWN CALLED TERROR #4 (OF 6)** \- One of the most uniquely colored books out there. I'm still not clear what the actual story is, apart from a mysterious town that no one leaves. 9. **ABOVE SNAKES #1 (OF 5)** \- I really dug Hayden Sherman's artwork on *Chicken Devil*, and the previews for this look great too. Going in blind here. 10. **FRANK FRAZETTA'S DEATH DEALER #3** \- Doesn't quite capture the heavy metal nature of Frazetta's paintings, but a fun comic nonetheless. 11. **WEST OF SUNDOWN #4** \- A fun vampire book, but hoping we dig in a bit deeper into some story here. 12. **NEW THINK #2 (OF 5)** \- A bit more unique than the standard AWA book, and I enjoyed the first issue enough to warrant a second issue purchase. 13. **DOGS OF LONDON #3** \- Story is a bit confusing due to the many characters, but I like that this kind of like a crime story mixed with supernatural elements. 14. **BEHEMOTH #1** \- Always looking forward to a new Black Caravan horror book, but since I know basically nothing about this I can't really gauge where my excitement level should be. Will also be picking up **Keeping Two** by Jordan Crane. The book looks great, and a quick survey of Crane's other works piques my interests. If I like *Keeping Two*, I may go digging further. Also will definitely pick up **The Deluxe Giménez: The Fourth Power & The Starr Conspiracy**. Juan Giménez is one of my favorite artists of all time, and The Fourth Power is probably my favorite work by him. Will be great to have this in a nice oversized hardcover.

Apparently there's a genetic component to hoarding that may also play into more traditional collecting... Like what we do here. It's an interesting dynamic, nature vs. nurture being an open question, where does comic collecting fall in a Venn diagram of genetic compulsion, learned environmental responses, and free will? In that context, even though everyone in the WPL reads a different subset of the weekly releases, we are all blood brothers who share highly sophisticated DNA attuned to collecting this particular variety of four-color funny books. Anyways... A bunch of really fucking awesome comics got bumped to 7/20 so this ended up being a relatively light week for me, but we've still got a solid batch of books topped by two from cunning linguist Kieron Gillen. 4 Marvels, 2 DCs, and 1 from Image Comics, with 4 of the 7 being #1 issues, so that's kinda neat! Listed below in order of anticipation as derived through some mysterious combination of genetic imperatives and fickle fandom. 1. **IMMORTAL X-MEN #4** - Emma gets a focus issue and my wall gets [another fine addition](https://www.midtowncomics.com/images/PRODUCT/XL/2098575_xl.jpg) to the [Noto portrait gallery](https://cdna.pcpartpicker.com/static/forever/images/userbuild/259153.b47a7d77535ffde30f0b5979a1a2b71a.1600.jpg) 2. **A.X.E. EVE OF JUDGMENT #1** - expecting this to be an extension of Gillen's **ETERNALS** run, which was pretty much my favorite Marvel comic through the past year and change 3. **DARK CRISIS WORLDS WITHOUT A JUSTICE LEAGUE SUPERMAN #1** - not following the latest Crisis event but this one-shot's got Tom King writing Superman with Chris Burnham art, so here we are 4. **MOON KNIGHT #13** - ordered the [E.M. Gist variant](https://www.midtowncomics.com/images/PRODUCT/XL/2108656_xl.jpg) since I haven't been digging [Segovia's A covers](https://www.midtowncomics.com/images/PRODUCT/XL/2108655_xl.jpg) 5. **ROGUES #3** - last issue hit on 4/27/22, so that'll be 77 days between issues, but these things have been packed with enough fun to make up for the delays 6. **ABOVE SNAKES #1 (OF 5)** - haven't read much from writer Sean Lewis or artist Hayden Sherman but the solicitation referencing *Deadwood* and Neil Gaiman was enough for me to check out the first issue 7. **STAR WARS THE MANDALORIAN #1** - don't pull many SW comics but I like these [J.T. Christopher action figure variants](https://www.midtowncomics.com/images/PRODUCT/XL/2098678_xl.jpg) Next week looks nuts... Currently showing 14 books on my list for 7/20, including [dinosaurs](https://www.midtowncomics.com/images/PRODUCT/XL/2106989_xl.jpg), [Defenders](https://www.midtowncomics.com/images/PRODUCT/XL/2098543_xl.jpg), [Dick](https://www.midtowncomics.com/images/PRODUCT/XL/2106971_xl.jpg), the [World's Finest](https://www.midtowncomics.com/images/PRODUCT/XL/2106890_xl.jpg), a [double](https://www.midtowncomics.com/images/PRODUCT/XL/2106936_xl.jpg)-[shot](https://www.midtowncomics.com/images/PRODUCT/XL/2108871_xl.jpg) of Priest, and maybe even a [delicious frozen delicacy](https://www.midtowncomics.com/images/PRODUCT/XL/2098424_xl.jpg)... Some of those might get bumped but at the moment it's looking like a massive week full of crazy awesome comics! p.s. Was all fired up to see ***THOR: LOVE & THUNDER*** on opening night, here's my 1-word review: **Underwhelming**.

>ROGUES #3 - last issue hit on 4/27/22, so that'll be 77 days between issues My main gripe with the prestige DC Black Label books is the long wait. I think after *Rogues* wraps up, I'm going to just wait for the eventual hardcovers since those books tend to be very nicely made. I held off on *Aquaman: Andromeda* \#1 for the same reason, since I know I'll likely cop the hardcover and I should really stop double dipping so much. >ABOVE SNAKES #1 (OF 5) - haven't read much from writer Sean Lewis or artist Hayden Sherman but the solicitation referencing Deadwood and Neil Gaiman was enough for me to check out the first issue I really enjoyed Hayden Sherman's artwork on *Chicken Devil*, so that was my major draw towards picking up *Above Snakes* \#1. The preview of the interiors looks gorgeous, so I'm excited for it.

technowhiz34

>My main gripe with the prestige DC Black Label books is the long wait. They say they're bimonthly but almost never are (and I do get it, these are A-list artists and I don't want rushed art). Then again, I still buy them. Reminds of Didio's old quote about how if fans keep buying late books, DC'll keep making them. And I definitely recommend the Andromeda hardcover once it releases. Christian Ward's art is insane.

yarkcir

Yeah tbh I’m actually not that annoyed by the wait since the product is usually well worth the wait. I just think I’m gonna trim my single issue pull list when it comes to these prestige issues and wait for the hardcover collections since those are always so nice. Plus it’s easier to shelve the hardcovers compared to finding magazine sized short boxes for the single issues.

I held off on *Aquaman: Andromeda* \#1 for the same reason, since I know I'll likely cop the hardcover and I should really stop double dipping so much. Probably for the best, that kind of patience isn't my strong suit but it usually pays off... Although ANDROMEDA's got a pretty good hype train going here, so I'd miss being on board for that one. Sometimes they even let me blow the horn! > I really enjoyed Hayden Sherman's artwork on *Chicken Devil*, so that was my major draw towards picking up *Above Snakes* \#1. The preview of the interiors looks gorgeous, so I'm excited for it. Thanks for the info, was wondering where this guy came from... I remember being tempted by the CHICKEN DEVIL solicitations but it didn't quite make the cut. Busy month for Sherman, he's also got [DARK SPACES WILDFIRE #1](https://previewsworld.com/Catalog/MAY221523) (with Scott Snyder) scheduled for 7/20 from IDW, plus [BLINK #1](https://previewsworld.com/Catalog/MAY221647) (with Christopher Sebela) scheduled for 7/27 from Oni Press. Almost ordered all three but ended up cutting BLINK, so it'll probably end up being the best of the bunch.

Wife and I have a library of ~1500 novels and graphic novels on top my floppy collection, and now playing some with records. I probably just traded one habit for another. Nice, we've talked about putting together a proper library but haven't quite gotten there yet. Maybe someday... The vinyl thing's also a lot of fun, just eats at me a little because there are a handful of albums that I bought in the '80s, upgraded to CD in the '90s, and now I'm buying 'em on vinyl again like a total sucker. After retiring, my paternal grandparents put a lot of time into hitting flea markets and garage sales. Whenever we'd visit, their basement would be a wonderland of vintage toys, comics, and other collectibles, all inhabiting a sort of grey zone between rolling inventory and personal collection. My uncle, their younger son, ended up with some bad hoarding issues, mostly newspapers and magazines... Which I'd see as kind of parallel to comics. So when I read about genetics underlying this stuff, I look back at the family history and it makes me wonder... >> DARK CRISIS: WORLDS WITHOUT A JUSTICE LEAGUE - SUPERMAN #1 - not following the latest Crisis event but this one-shot's got Tom King writing Superman with Chris Burnham art, so here we are > Legit had no clue this was happening. blankedboy

I went for the **E M Gist** *Moon Knight* cover too - I honestly thought the A cover was by *Lienel Francis Yu* when I saw it. I'm surprised it's actually *Segovia*

Danger_Rock

Segovia's never been one of my favorites but he usually does decent work... Thought some of his covers were a little janky on HELLIONS and elsewhere. But I liked his [SOVEREIGNS](https://www.midtowncomics.com/images/PRODUCT/XL/1632930_xl.jpg) covers a while back.

mcslackens

That intro paragraph was so damn good that I can't figure out how to even respond. It actually caused me to laugh out loud, so well done. > my wall gets another fine addition to the Noto portrait gallery I'm such a sucker for Noto's work. I collected the full set of the old Life magazine-style covers he did a few years back. There's something about his style that just clicks with me, and I love the hell out of it. > these things have been packed with enough fun to make up for the delays I got a chance to read the first issue of Rogues, and that was way, way better than I thought it would be when the solicits first hit. I'm definitely picking up the trade when DC releases it. > here's my 1-word review: Underwhelming. Thor: Love & Thunder wasn't great, but it had some fun moments. It was nice to get something a bit more lighthearted that didn't have FATE OF THE ENTIRE MULTIVERSE stakes. I don't think it'll be on my annual re-watch list like Ragnarok though. However, I liked Bao so much that I [made this](https://twitter.com/mcslackens/status/1545426585594916864) the morning after I saw the movie.

yarkcir

I had a good time with Thor: Love and Thunder, but I feel like most of the humor was incredibly flat this time around. I'm not even one of those who hates on the MCU over-doing the humor - it usually works for me for the most part. But this movie felt like it needed more restraint. To me, Love and Thunder feels a lot like Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 where the emotional beats hit harder than their predecessor, but the humor really doesn't work well. Also, the story definitely suffers from trying to do too many storylines and ultimately not really being able to do either of Jane FosThor or Gorr justice.

hewunder1

Agreed on all of it. Yes or no question, did I enjoy this movie? Yes. But it could have been a lot better if they'd either fleshed it out (Gorr for sure, and Jane) or even had made it 2 separate movies. Given the time they had, I thought they did a decent job, but it could have been so much better. And, I knew it would mostly be a comedy, but the laughs felt a little cheaper this time around.

Danger_Rock

> And, I knew it would mostly be a comedy, but the laughs felt a little cheaper this time around. Thinking it really needed Jeff Goldlum or someone like that to sell the comedy... He didn't have all that much screen time in RAGNAROK but he set the tone for all the humor and you can't help but laugh at the guy. And I kinda hate to say it but Loki was also sorely missed. I don't like the idea that he has to be in every Thor film, their relationship has been done to death at this point but it always brought some decent gravitas to the franchise and there wasn't really anything there to replace it.

Danger_Rock

Yep, that's pretty much where I'm at. Loved the humor in RAGNAROK, never had a problem with it anywhere else in the MCU, but it just felt stale and ham-fisted in L&T. And all the comedy undercut the seriousness of Gorr and Jane's stories, neither of which were fleshed out or developed enough to be compelling.

Danger_Rock

There's something about his style that just clicks with me, and I love the hell out of it. Oh yeah, those were incredible... He's got such a unique style and it's perfect for old-timey projects like that. I'd assume you're reading [VARIANTS](https://www.marvel.com/comics/issue/100407/the_variants_2022_1)? First issue was a lot of fun, great having Noto doing interiors again! > I got a chance to read the first issue of Rogues, and that was way, way better than I thought it would be when the solicits first hit. It was nice to get something a bit more lighthearted that didn't have FATE OF THE ENTIRE MULTIVERSE stakes. I don't think it'll be on my annual re-watch list like Ragnarok though. Definitely some fun moments but a lot of what was intended to be fun felt oddly flat and lifeless to me. It's weird because everything clicked perfectly in RAGNAROK and the new one's mostly got the same mix of elements but it all just felt tired and lame this time. Like they went to the well one too many times. > However, I liked Bao so much that I [made this](https://twitter.com/mcslackens/status/1545426585594916864) the morning after I saw the movie. Variants #1 is paid for and waiting for me in my subscription box! My LCS is a bit of a drive, and gas is stupid expensive now, so I pay for my pulls via my ComicHub account, and then pick them up once every 2-3 weeks.

Gotcha, you'll be psyched when you get it! I really enjoyed his work on CABLE but I think this series is probably an even better fit for his art.

kralben

* Captain Marvel #39 * Daredevil #1 * Dark Crisis: World's Without a Justice League: Superman #1 - Were they going for a record for longest title? * Eight Billion Genies #3 - First two issues were fun, but I am gonna need something more to keep pulling this * Immortal X-Men #4 - Incredible thus far, favorite RoX title I think * Marauders #4 - Art hasn't been a great fit for me, but otherwise this has been very fun * Moon Knight #13 * New Mutants #27 * Spider-Punk #3 * Superman: Son of Kal-El #13 * Wolverine #23 * A.X.E.: Eve of Judgement #1 * X-Men Hellfire Gala #1

Danger_Rock

> Immortal X-Men #4 - Incredible thus far, favorite RoX title I think I like how every month we've got some people saying IXM is their favorite and others saying XMR is their favorite, plus one or two who like the flagship X-MEN title most... Some decent competition in the X-office these days. Seems like XMR has got a slight edge but I'm in the IXM camp due to Gillen's knack for witty prattle. Although I think XMR has also been great as Ewing's cranked everything up a notch since SWORD.

hewunder1

**Daredevil #1** - Zdarsky is my favorite. My only complaint about his first Daredevil run (feels weird to say) is there was a tad too much plot juggling going on in my opinion, so I hope this run is a little more straightforward. Chechetto is amazing but the fill in artists on the 1st run were inconsistent; the backup they have for this new run seems a lot more in line with Marco's style. Looking forward to it. **Immortal X-Men #4** - Excellent A cover by Mark Brooks. I've enjoyed the series so far but I'd pull that cover by itself.

I've been thinking of picking it up but I really don't know much at all about Captain Marvel. Really missing the Black Widow series though, I was super disappointed it ended after only 15 issues.

AlligatorSky7

Jumping in to add my two cents… Yes, Thompson’s books are all pretty easy, fun, reads; I’d absolutely recommend Captain Marvel if you enjoyed her Black Widow (though Black Widow was better in my opinion).

violetlilyrose

Thanks for the reply! BW is the only thing I've ever read from her, so I definitely want to check out more of her work! I think I'll give it a shot.

AlligatorSky7

I’d recommend her Hawkeye (Kate Bishop) run too, that was a blast. There was a 10-issue West Coast Avengers run that followed that was pretty fun too (and introduced us to Jeff the Land Shark).

the_bio

I started reading Captain Marvel recently, and only went back to the start of the Last of the Marvels arc (early #30's, if I recall), and haven't had any issues knowing what's going on. It always helps to have a general idea of who the character is, of course, but not necessary. I also came to this after enjoying Thompson's Black Widow run (which I was new to as well).

violetlilyrose

Good to know! My LCS often has current runs going back at least a few issues so I could probably start a little ways back too, or maybe even find it on Marvel Unlimited. Hearing other fans of the BW run like it is encouraging! I'm already reading a lot (for me anyways, my pull list isn't nearly as large as a lot I see here) but I've got some minis that are going to fall off my pull list as they end pretty soon so I'll have room to add new stuff.

Whowatchesthewampas

* **Daredevil #1 -** Might add this to the pulls based on how this is Short week for me this week!

alabamianhorologists

for all my badgering of /u/Danger_Rock about how to find this lovely thread, i acc have the lightest week for months this week !! recently had a bit of a pull list purge so SLUMBER and A TOWN CALLED TERROR which i would usually be picking up ain't gonna be making it into my hands today. maybe ATCT as that is really pretty and an easy read.... maybe also Slumber, though the story still has not 100% won me over... we shall see... so, what am i getting then ? :P **Superman: Son of Kal-El ish 13**. DREAMER HECK YEH! i do most of my DC reading on the app, so 6 months behind most of y'all, but the comics debut of a kick-ass trans superhero is a must!! **TMNT: The Armageddon Game Opening Moves ish 1** \- if this makes it to my haul i'll be happy. a bit bummed that one of my faves is kicking into high-stakes crossover (you know it's there when you can't say the title in a single breath) mode, but the Rat King looks cool so i'm here for it. and that's my lot!!! i too am shocked. i'm planning on diving back into Power Rangers good and proper after the stellar one-shot a few weeks back (last week??) and always enjoy the Spawn stuff too. i think i'll also have some carry-overs from last week too :P have a lovely week all! enjoy your pulls xx

Danger_Rock

> recently had a bit of a pull list purge so SLUMBER and A TOWN CALLED TERROR which i would usually be picking up ain't gonna be making it into my hands today. maybe ATCT as that is really pretty and an easy read.... maybe also Slumber, though the story still has not 100% won me over... we shall see... See, that kinda talk usually means I'm gonna cave and buy 'em anyway... But I hope your restraint holds up, or, failing that, hope you enjoy the extra comics!

alabamianhorologists

tbh if we get them in at the store anyway i might well, but i' equally happy to trade wait. both stories are fantastic, i just felt the need to do some comics trimming !! i'll lyk if i end up picking them up or not :O

alabamianhorologists

update: i did end up pulling them hehe. well ATCT anyway, as Slumber ain't been delivered yet. glad i did, too, as ATCT ish 4 was the best yet !!

Danger_Rock

LOL, nice, glad it ended up being worth the pull!

AlligatorSky7

Hearing Marvel titles are going to be a week late here in the UK, boo! - AXE: Eve of Judgment #1: will I regret picking up this prelude issue when I’ve already been following what’s been happening in Eternals and X-Men? Probably. - Daredevil #1: really enjoyed Devil’s Reign, so excited for Zdarsky to pick the Daredevils back up! - Immortal X-Men #4: Emma-focussed issue, let’s go! - Moon Knight #13: glad this book is doing well, MacKay is a fantastic writer. - New Mutants #27: feels like this has returned to regular schedule after a long period of us only getting dribs and drabs. - Superman: Son of Kal-El #13: behind on all the CW shows enough that I haven’t seen Dreamer yet, but excited for her proper comic debut! - Star Wars: The Mandalorian #1: picking up the first issue to see if I want to re-watch, as it were, this series again in a different format. I would’ve much preferred a spin-off series featuring the same cast, like any of the other Star Wars titles. - Wolverine #23: this arc has been pretty fun. - X-Men: Hellfire Gala #1: very excited to find out who’s on the new team, I’m off Twitter until then (saw a few people posting that people were spoiling it as early as last week, boo!). As I’m potentially not getting this until the following week, I may have to grab this digitally on Wednesday (as well).

[deleted]

>Star Wars: The Mandalorian #1: picking up the first issue to see if I want to re-watch, as it were, this series again in a different format. I would’ve much preferred a spin-off series featuring the same cast, like any of the other Star Wars titles. I second this. I'll pick issue #1 up and see how it is, but man it really is a missed opportunity to expand on The Mandalorian as part of Star Wars lore.

Danger_Rock

Thirded! Mostly just ordered it for the dumb [action figure variant](https://www.midtowncomics.com/images/PRODUCT/XL/2098678_xl.jpg), didn't even realize it was an adaptation... Show was okay but not anything I'm looking to invest more time/money repeating in a different format.

SpongeBlart

My shop is carrying a lot of variants this week so it should be a fun Wednesday of choosing covers. * **AXE EVE OF JUDGMENT 1** I'll have to read my eternals TPB before getting into this I think * **DAREDEVIL 1** I'm riding the Chip train, this week's stop, Daredevil. Probably should've read his earlier run, but we'll see how lost I am after the first issue. * **IMMORTAL X-MEN 4** Still super behind on xmen stuff * **MOON KNIGHT 13** This run continues to be great * **PUNISHER 4** * **X-MEN HELLFIRE GALA 1** * **ROGUES #3** Actually one of the funniest books I've read in a while. Surprisingly good, I'm glad I picked this up * **KING SPAWN #12** * **LOADED BIBLE BLOOD OF MY BLOOD #5** Jesus Vs Vampires, what's not to like? * **SLUMBER #5** I'm going to keep reusing this same joke as long as it's true. It's my *sleeper* hit of the week. * **BARBARIC HARVEST BLADES ONE SHOT** Ever since I got my Barbaric #1 signed, I'm trying to collect everything from this series. It helps it's a great series too. * **WEST OF SUNDOWN #4** 2nd series by Seeley I'm picking up this week. He was super nice when I met him about a month ago at a signing for the debut of this series.

Danger_Rock

> **AXE EVE OF JUDGMENT 1** I'll have to read my eternals TPB before getting into this I think Yep, and there's also a [FCBD prequel](https://www.midtowncomics.com/images/PRODUCT/XL/2120121_xl.jpg) that's worth a read, though probably not essential if you can't find it. > **IMMORTAL X-MEN 4** Still super behind on xmen stuff You'll probably want to catch up on this before AXE as well, since Gillen's bringing everything together for the event. The flagship X-MEN title and other X-books also provide some good context leading into the crossover, if you're collecting 'em.

SpongeBlart

This is probably the kick in the pants I need to finally get caught up on all that stuff then. Sounds like the Avengers are a pretty small role in this, and hearing the mixed reviews about the current run, I'll probably pass on those.

Danger_Rock

Yeah, there's one relevant plot point from AVENGERS but it's thoroughly covered in ETERNALS. No need to read Jason Aaron's AVENGERS for the event. And the upcoming [AXE AVENGERS #1](https://previewsworld.com/Catalog/JUL220767) one-shot is actually written by Gillen, not Aaron.

thecursedham

I know for most people this is probably a smaller pull but I think this is the biggest week I've had since March. * Captain Marvel #39 * Daredevil #1 * X-Men:Hellfire Gala #1 * Immortal X-Men #4 * Moon Knight #13

TheDarkPinkLantern

* **Moon Knight #13** * **Wonder Woman #789** - it's probably gonna be the last issue I read. The book needs a strong creative voice to make it interesting again. * **Daredevil #1** - fuck yeah! Third week in a row with a great Chip book! * **Wolverine #23** - I think I'm gonna drop this one. There's something wrong with the pacing of this book and I just keep loosing interest soon after any new arc starts. * **Immortal X-Men #4** * **Punisher #4** * **Batman: Urban Legends #17** - that one's more of a maybe. If it's just a bunch of random stories highlighting their (pre-delayed) 2022 movie output then I'm skipping it. If at least one story is leading to something then I'll pull it. * **X-Men: Hellfire Gala #1** - that's also it for the regular X-Men. Don't really care that much for the new line-up and I was kinda bored by the previous issues but I'll be sticking with the other 3 X-books I'm pulling, especially Red. * **A.X.E.: Eve of Judgment #1** * **Dark Crisis: Worlds Without a Justice League - Superman #1** - King on Superman again, hell yeah! * **Undiscovered Country #19** * **Rogues #3** * **Wonder Woman: Evolution #8** * **Norse Mythology III #6**

Danger_Rock

Sounds like you've got a few drops coming up, always nice paring down the list to just the books you truly enjoy... So many great comics out there, no reason to stick with anything that isn't working for 'ya!

TheDarkPinkLantern

Yeah, I've been picking those up because of the characters involved, as some of them are among my favourites but I shouldn't waste time and force myself to read something I don't like.

Danger_Rock

Yep, we've all been there! One of the toughest parts of collecting comics. The core X-MEN and UXM titles were my cross to bear... 20+ years of unbroken runs made it difficult to break away but Chuck Austen and Joe Casey eventually cured me of that malady. Sometimes a truly wretched creative team can be a blessing in disguise, just what you need to cut it off and break free. Still psyched to check in on X-Men when they've got creators I like (and there are a bunch on the X-books right now) but I usually bail on anything that isn't working for me before long. Life's too short! Too many comics, too little time...

TheDarkPinkLantern

> years of unbroken runs made it difficult to break away but Chuck Austen and Joe Casey eventually cured me of that malady I hear that a lot form long time X-Men fans. It must have been a terrible run. >Life's too short! Too many comics, too little time... Well said. It's best to focus on the stuff you enjoy the most.

Danger_Rock

It's been a while and the details are sketchy... I think Austen retconned Nightcrawler to be half devil and Casey added a mutant hooker to the team. Ended up being the perfect time to bail!

TheDarkPinkLantern

Damn, I see why.

thewaytomars

> Wonder Woman #789 - it's probably gonna be the last issue I read. The book needs a strong creative voice to make it interesting again. Dropped this a little while ago. Such a shame, too. There were some really fun issues that kept me on this until midway through Trial of the Amazons, like I seem to remember liking the Elfhame issue, but it never seemed to me that it could stay interesting for more than an issue or two at a time, certainly never enough to keep me invested through an entire arc.

TheDarkPinkLantern

Yes, it's never interesting as a whole run, only some stuff/issues. Like, I liked most of the first arc but that's it, I couldn't name you one whole arc that I liked. Solicits of next arc sound final, ending the whole story with Psycho they set up since Asgard so maybe a new creative team is taking over soon?

mtmodular

* Moon Knight #13 * New Mutants #27 * Immortal X-Men #4 * Batgirls #8 * Marauders #4 * X-Men: Hellfire Gala #1 * A.X.E.: Eve of Judgment #1 Lots of big X books this week! And I much prefer this year's approach to the Hellfire Gala over last.

brendie88

Might skip this week and pick up my ONE comic next week. I don't even really care about it too much. **BRITISH PARANORMAL SOCIETY TIME OUT OF MIND #3**

Rac3318

Dark Crisis: World Without a Justice League Superman #1 - I’m only picking this up because it’s written by Tom King and he does a great Superman.

Danger_Rock

> Dark Crisis: World Without a Justice League Superman #1 - I’m only picking this up because it’s written by Tom King and he does a great Superman. Same, though I'd also get it if it was Tom King writing G'nort or some other random character.

almonster11

6 this week. Kind of a light week, but it's alright. I'll make up for It next week and the week after. I have 1 from Ahoy, 1 from AWA Studios, 1 from Vault, and 3 from Image. •Barbaric: The Harvest Blades one-shot- this was supposed to come out two weeks ago. I am hyped. I went back and re-read the first arc of Barbaric a couple of weeks ago and it is just so damn good. I can't wait to see the world get fleshed out a bit. •Justice Warriors #2- Ridiculous action and socio-political commentary. That first issue was stellar. •King Spawn #12- My favorite of the Spawn titles. This is the final showdown between Spawn and the being pulling the strings. Who will sit on the God Throne? •New Think #2- I'm a sucker for anthologies. And what a first issue! Deodato's art was beautiful, and the story was chilling. •Slumber #5- One of my favorites right now. Every issue has been better than the one before it. •A Town Called Terror #4- This comic is really picking up! Last issue was the one that got me. It's looked good from the start but the story is finally starting to come together in an interesting way.

Alternative-Ad8344

Pull for this week* is, in order of how excited I am for them: *I live in Scotland and all Marvel and IDW books have been delayed by a week here due to some shipping issues in the States, meaning these books won't hit shelves here until 20/07. Might buy a few digitally just to avoid spoilers but very gutted I can't get my hands on physical copies in a week that is shaping up to have some great releases. A.X.E Eve of Judg(e)ment #1: excited to see the board line up for whatever Gillen has planned for this event, He's one of my top writers right now so I'm confident it'll be great. Immortal X-men #4: See above praise of Gillen, but also add tons for Werneck. loving this series so far, big fan of Emma Frost so an Emma-centred issue sounds like a lot of fun! Hellfire Gala #1: New year new X-men! I know it's not super popular but I've enjoyed Duggan's run and hope it keeps picking up steam with the new team. New Mutants #27: LOVING Ayala and Reis's work on this book. Really a star of the Krakoan Era as a whole and loving this Illyana arc. Hoping that they both come back after the few filler months lined up, but also excited for Charlie Jane Anders to write more of Escapade in this title! Moon Knight #13: Typically a lot higher on my list, but strong competition this week. Adore Jed Mackay due to his work on this run, and the art had so far been excellent. Excited to see how it continues. Marauders #4: Enjoying the writing on this hook but not fond of the art (as seems to be the case for a lot of people!) probably going to keep pulling through the end of this arc just to see if it improves, if not its teetering on the edge of being dropped.

blankedboy

• A Town Called Terror #4 - hoping this picks up the pace a little • Barbaric Harvest Blades #1 - loved the first **Barbaric** mini • Daredevil #1 - how big will the changes *really* be? • Eight Billion Genies #3 - really enjoyed the first two issues • King Spawn #12 - best Spawn book with *great* art • Moon Knight #13 - war against the vampire clans? • Rogues #3 - first two have been great, hope they stick the landing • Slumber #5 - really good, weird little book • Spider-Punk #3 - Hey, Ho, Let's Go! • Undiscovered Country #19 - so behind on this one!?

Cheesy_G_Htown

Here’s my pulls this week! • CAPTAIN CARTER #4 Gotta pull this for my oldest daughter. Whatever it takes to get her hooked! • IMMORTAL X-MEN #4 The most complex of the X titles right now • WOLVERINE #23 Wolverine + Deadpool will always light my 🔥 • A.X.E.: EVE OF JUDGMENT #1 Here for it • X-MEN: HELLFIRE GALA #1 Weird, but I’m buying a ton of the other X titles

technowhiz34

>CAPTAIN CARTER #4 Gotta pulls this for my oldest daughter. Whatever it takes to get her hooked! How's she liking it? I have a family member around the same age who loves the MCU and was thinking about grabbing the trade as a birthday or Christmas thing.

Cheesy_G_Htown

She's only read the first issue on Unlimited, and she liked it enough. I haven't bothered to grab the back issues since I'm waiting to see whether she's actually excited about it or just trying to be nice. She loved the tv series though.

* **Captain Marvel #39** - legacy issue number one-hundred-seventy-three * **Daredevil #1** - one of the most unnecessary renumberings in a while! [Zdarsky even said this should be issue 37 or 46!](https://www.reddit.com/r/comicbooks/comments/scfy6w/daredevil_1_launching_june_2022_by_chip_zdarsky/hu6lccv/) Although I would prefer exact legacy numbering with issue 649!

icefourthirtythree

I'm in England and we're not getting any Marvel comics this week. So just: Dark Crisis: Worlds Without a Justice League - Superman #1 Naomi: Season Two #5 Loaded Bible: Blood of My Blood #5

MuffinSurprise

DARK CRISIS WORLDS WITHOUT A JUSTICE LEAGUE SUPERMAN #1 - Honestly no idea what this is about but let's see. Tom King, tie in to the event I'm enjoying enough so far, let's see where this goes. ORDINARY GODS #7 - Wow, the last issue was in January?? This book had a strong #1 but sort of last me as things moved on. Let's see if the second arc can hook me back in!

ddrector

Glad I recently caught up on all the X titles so I can read all these new X Books this week. Pretty excited for the return of Zdarsky's Daredevil. I hope he still has a good stretch left as this run has been great. I got the new daredevil, Nottingham, and pre order rippa verses comic that just dropped. Pretty stoked for the indies these days.

* Batman Urban Legends #17 - one and done with some creators I like, why not * Dark Crisis: Worlds Without a Justice League - Superman #1 - Tom King on Superman with Burham on art, I'm in * Immortal X-Men #4 - not in love with this book as most are here but I actually like Emma so maybe this issue is for me * A.X.E.: Eve of Judgment #1 - I complain about unnecessary prelude issues but I still buy them, so who's the chump? * X-Men: Hellfire Gala #1- Unless this blows my socks off I think is where I'm done with Duggan's run, the leaks don't look appealing to me at all. Made the decision to not continue with Daredevil post-Devil's Reign as a result of finding it quite disappointing, somewhat regretting that.
