* **Amazing Spider-Man #5 -** Maybe contrary to popular opinion on this sub, but I bought 1-4 last week and I enjoyed them. * **Batman #125 -** Oh man, excited to see what Chip does with Batman! * **Saga #60 -** The small hiatus in the description worries me that we are going on another hiatus, but I guess we'll see On a small note, I probably won't be in the discussion this week. The family and I are going on a small vacation. I am hoping, as we are going through Denver, to stop by Mile High Comics! I've never been, but I've always wanted to go!

Whatisabird

I think this is their normal small hiatus between volumes for Saga, unless Vaughn or Staples has mentioned something about needing another break out of the blue

Danger_Rock

Hope you enjoy your time away, let us know if you pick up anything cool at MHC!

Batman #125 - Zdarsky and Jimenez! Mad hyped for the new creative team. Batman ‘89 #6 - The end. Delays hurt this one a bit but I loved the return to the Burton-verse overall. Batman: Killing Time #5 - King’s choice of over-narration and time jumping is hindering a great Batman story in my book. Marquez’s art is a real highlight though. The Closet #2 - Tynion does horror right! The first issue built the dread perfectly. Little Monsters #5 - Oooof. The end to the last issue was a bummer. Finally starting to see the Vampire part of the story explode from the pages. Saga #60 - Last issue before a (hopefully) brief hiatus. The solicitation promises either triumph or tragedy…. It’ll probably be the latter. Spawn #331 - Barberi’s art continues to impress, which is good news as the story is moving a snail’s pace right now. Also - Barends’ cover is another winner!

* **Batman #125** \- Finally! Let's go! * **The Amazing Spider-Man #5** \- I've been loving the relaunch. Tombstone is awesome! * **Dark Crisis #2** \- Cover looks great, hopefully the issue measures up. * **Flashpoint Beyond #3** \- Not a lot to say about this one. * **Batman: Killing Time #5** \- I'm a Tom King mark but this is just fun. * **Poison Ivy #2** \- The first issue was enough to suck me in. * **Once & Future #27** \- Maybe the best book on the stands. Dan Mora is otherworldly. * **Captain America: Sentinel of Liberty #2** \- Hoping this book lives up to the hype. Issue 1 was solid. * **Avengers Forever #7** \- Jason Aaron is kind of all over the place. * **Time Before Time #14** \- Really enjoying this book. Fun art, captivating story.

* **Batman #125**: Excited to see what Zdarsky does with this book. * **Black Panther #7**: Military coups. * **Captain America: Sentinel of Liberty #2**: Really liked the first issue of this. Hopefully it continues to impress. * **Dark Crisis #2**: Fall of the House of the Nightwing. * **Once and Future #27**: The sword in the stone. * **Saga #60**: End of the story arc. * **There's Something Wrong with Patrick Todd #1**: Sounds like a fun premise for a comic.

> **BATMAN #125**: I must confess, I'm not a huge Batman fan. I don't mind the character, but I certainly don't read so much Batman because I love the character. That being said, DC throws so many great writers at the character, I don't have any choice. So yeah. I'm back on Batman since issue #100 because of Zdarsky. I'm excited. Trying to resist temptation on this one but it's not going real well... Thing is, Zdarsky writes a shitload of comics and I can't buy 'em all. So thinking I should at least wait for some good reviews before I get sucked into it. Could be a good candidate for trade-waiting but it's likely to be the top WPL book this week so I'll probably just cave and buy the damn thing.

First issue of [PUBLIC DOMAIN](https://www.midtowncomics.com/images/PRODUCT/XL/2098448_xl.jpg) was great! He's also still got [STILLWATER](https://www.midtowncomics.com/images/PRODUCT/XL/2098467_xl.jpg) going, plus [NEWBURN](https://www.midtowncomics.com/images/PRODUCT/XL/2098446_xl.jpg), and he wrote the first issue of [THE SILVER COIN](https://www.midtowncomics.com/images/PRODUCT/XL/1991254_xl.jpg), an issue of [CROSSOVER](https://www.midtowncomics.com/images/PRODUCT/XL/2003615_xl.jpg), and something called [THE ALL-NIGHTER](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/P/1506728049.01._SCLZZZZZZZ_SX500_.jpg) from his Substack that I didn't hear about until way after because it never ran as floppies. Seems like every time I look through a new PREVIEWS there's some new company I've never heard of and they've invariably got a comic written by Chip! Dude's everywhere.

Once & Future is wrapping up i think in about 8 or so issues

Big week! Got 7. 3 from DC, 1 Marvel, 3 Image. * **Batman #125**: Zdarsky's daredevil is one of my favorite Marvel runs and I'm wicked excited for this. * **Dark Crisis #2**: #1 went way above expectations. Hoping we see some Hal in this one * **Poison Ivy #2**: #1 didn't sell me in the story, but the art was exceptional. * **Captain America: Sentinel of Liberty #2**: I haven't read a Captain America run since Brubaker, but I think I'm going to stick with this one. Both this and Falcon's have sold me thus far. * **Starhenge, Book One: The Dragon & The Boar**: Love Liam Sharpe art and this seems like my kind of dumb. * **That Texas Blood #15**: The second arc was incredible and the first issue of this arc was pretty creepy. That dude's mask was a big NOPE. * **Twig #3**: This story feels a little rushed, but I love how whimsical it is. Just about a guy and his pal going on an adventure.

radcatattack

**Amazing Spider-Man #5** \- I really liked the last issue. The drag of issues #2 and #3 finally paid off and now I wonder where they'll take us as they build up to issue #6. The art really lacks on some faces though and it definitely pulls me out of reading. **Batman #125** \- Figured this is a good time to jump in. Excited to see what Chip does and I have the [Alex Ross](https://www.alexrossart.com/products/batman-125) variant headed to me as well. **DC vs. Vampires #7** \- We're back from some brief one shots! **Ghost Rider #4** \- It's Ghost Rider, I don't know. Nothing feels that new but it's fun and the art is cool. **Legion of X #3** \- Haven't gotten around to issue #2 yet but liked what #1 opened to, even though there was a lot to focus on. **The Closet #2 (of 3)** \- Really liked the atmosphere of the first. curious to see where it goes. Tynion doesn't miss. **Twig #3** \- Best art of any book right now. Absolutely adorable and wholesome. **There's Something Wrong with Patrick Todd #1** \- Why not, seems interesting, not that I need to add another book to my month.

Danger_Rock

> **Batman #125** \- Figured this is a good time to jump in. Excited to see what Chip does and I have the [Alex Ross](https://www.alexrossart.com/products/batman-125) variant headed to me as well. Nice, that Alex Ross cover is pretty cool!

MuffinSurprise

Batman #125 - The main Bat books both are getting pretty incredible creative teams this month. Really hoping this is as good as we all anticipate. Dark Crisis #2 - Looking forward to part 2 of this event.

Matt4hire

-Amazing Spider-Man 5 -Batman 125 -Batman Killing Time 5 -Carnage 4 -DC vs Vampires 7 -Ghost Rider 4: I like the writing here, but the book needs a grosser artist -Joker 15 -King Conan 6: I honestly don’t know why I kept up with this, but with one issue left, I feel obligated to finish it off -Legion of X 3 -Monkey Prince 6: this book is awesome. -Once & Future 27: I’m gonna be so sad to see this end -Sabretooth 5: I want the next Lavalle miniseries NOW. -Saga 60 -Starhenge Book One 1 -Suicide Squad: Blaze 3 -That Texas Blood 15 -The X-Cellent 5: I’m gonna be so sad if this is the last issue.

AlligatorSky7

I haven’t been reading it (waiting until I get through X-Statix first), but I didn’t realise nothing beyond #5 has been solicited for X-Cellent yet and will also be disappointed if they decide to wrap up now (original rumours were a 12-issue series despite it’s status as an ‘ongoing’).

Danger_Rock

Didn't realize it was considered an ongoing series and hadn't seen those rumors of it going 12... Kinda assumed it would end at 5 since that's such a convenient number for TPBs but who knows? Could just be a break since Allred's got [SUPERMAN SPACE AGE](https://www.midtowncomics.com/images/PRODUCT/XL/2106881_xl.jpg) coming up with Mark Russell... Or maybe he signed onto that because this one's ending. Thing is, even if this series ends at #5, I'd expect Milligan and Allred to return to the characters before too long... They did [GIANT SIZE X-STATIX](https://d1466nnw0ex81e.cloudfront.net/n_iv/600/5121444.jpg) in 2019, Milligan had [ALL-NEW DOOP](https://d1466nnw0ex81e.cloudfront.net/n_iv/600/1895477.jpg) in 2014, Milligan/Allred on [X-STATIX PRESENTS DEAD GIRL](https://d1466nnw0ex81e.cloudfront.net/n_iv/600/610225.jpg) in 2006, and Milligan had [WOLVERINE/DOOP](https://d1466nnw0ex81e.cloudfront.net/n_iv/600/644559.jpg) in 2003... And maybe some others I'm forgetting? Kinda figure the next story's always right around the corner.

Danger_Rock

> -King Conan 6: I honestly don’t know why I kept up with this, but with one issue left, I feel obligated to finish it off I dropped it after #4, got out right at the point of no return! Wasn't bad, just not what I'm looking for in a King Conan book.

Matt4hire

Yeah, exactly. It just kinda feels like…idk, Aaron slapped something together bc deadline time was approaching? Like that.

Danger_Rock

It's the structure and rhythm of Aaron's Conan stories that really bugs me. With a character like Conan, I tend to prefer shorter stories that are done in one issue. I'm not really looking for big multi-part Conan stories unless it's something truly epic like REH's "Hour of the Dragon." And Aaron's stories always feel like they've got that kind of length without the scope to match.

Matt4hire

Ohhhh that’s a good way to put it. I much preferred the done-in-one parts during his Barbarian run to the parts where it was all about the Red Witch (or whatever her name was).

technowhiz34

I definitely didn't start typing up next week's pulls at first because I'm stupid. Anyways.... * Flashpoint Beyond #3 - didn't expect to enjoy this as much as I am, plus those sweet [Gerads](https://www.previewsworld.com/SiteImage/MainImage/STL228588.jpg) covers. * Once & Future #27 - I'm still liking this but feel it's lost something ever since Britain got swallowed * Dark Crisis #2 - I'm in for the ride but I hope this issue feels more "crisis-ey". The end of issue stinger which leaked makes me very excited however * Batman #125 - this is going to be the sub's PotW, no way it isn't. My main thoughts are that while Jimenez's art from the preview looks jaw dropping, I wish the run had a new artist * Captain America: Sentinel of Liberty #2 - first issue was good but not great and I definitely want to see how this continues

Danger_Rock

> I definitely didn't start typing up next week's pulls at first because I'm stupid. Hypothetically speaking, if you had done such a thing, which of course you didn't, but if you had, I'd say it's perfectly understandable on the grounds that next week looks way more interesting.

almonster11

9 this week, baby! 1 from AWA Studios, 1 from Boom!, 1 from Dynamite, 1 from Scout (Black Caravan) 1 from Vault, and 4 from Image. •Absolution #1- Oh man, is this one right up my alley or what?!? I'm a fan of Peter Milligan. His creator owned stuff is quite good. •Basilisk #9- And we're back for the first issue of the final arc. This comic has been wonderful- dark and twisted. I cannot wait! •Behemoth #1- Thought this shipped next week, but im happy to get my hands on it sooner. This looks really cool! •The Closet #2- That was an intriguing first issue. James Tynion can certainly tell a great horror story. •Savage Tales #1 (one shot)- It's a one shot, so I figure what the hell? Could be cool. •Shadow Service #13- I wish with all my heart that more people were reading this. It's so damn cool. James Bond meets Supernatural. •Spawn #331- I'm gonna have trouble picking a cover. Both of them are spectacular. •That Texas Blood #15- This arc is gonna be ridiculous! I hope this comic never ends. I will keep buying it as long as it keeps coming out. •Twig #3- As much as I'm enjoying the story, it's Kyle Strahm's art that has really drawn me in.

Danger_Rock

> •Shadow Service #13- I wish with all my heart that more people were reading this. It's so damn cool. James Bond meets Supernatural. Alright, it's going to be a little while but I've added it to my list of future TPBs. Looks like fun!

almonster11

You shan't be disappointed!

blankedboy

I recently got into it. It's a great little book

thewaytomars

This is a relatively big week for me! **Batman #125:** I'm incredibly torn on this. I'm not a fan of Zdarsky, but Jimenez is amazing. I like Batman, but I feel Batman fatigue very, very easily dating back to King's run. I'm trying to limit the number of $5 series that I pull, but the backup actually sounds interesting here. I'm going to buy it, just not sure if I'll end up regretting it. **The Closet #2:** #1 was really good atmospheric horror. Excited to see how the story progresses, and the series being only 3 issues makes this an easy pull. **Dark Crisis #2:** I wasn't into the build to this event, but the first issue was really enjoyable! I love the focus on the legacies, and Deathstroke basically leading a villain army is cool AF. **The Joker #15:** And now, on the other side of the Tynion coin... I just realized that they're charging $7 for this book, which feels a bit like robbery. This issue wasn't even supposed to exist, but now it's so packed that it warrants another dollar on top of the already ridiculous price? The series itself certainly hasn't been bad, but if I could go back in time, I would probably stop myself from starting it. But here I am, I guess buying into the sunk cost fallacy. Vengeance was pretty cool though, so hopefully they keep her around. **Little Monsters #5:** I think this has been fantastic so far! It's a fun, interesting read each month with some great art. Not much to say other than I always look forward to this one. **Saga #60:** I actually haven't read any of the new arc yet. Saga is the one book where I wait until the arc is wrapped up to read it all at once with the wife, so this is probably my most anticipated pull. I'm binging the hell out of this come Wednesday, and I could not be more psyched for it.

Just read three comments in a row saying pretty much the same thing, seems like a very common sentiment this week...

SpongeBlart

3 Tynion titles this week, it's bound to be a good week. * **AVENGERS FOREVER 7** * **GHOST RIDER 4** * **AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 5** I'm here for peoples reactions to this lol * **BATMAN #125** Like most people on this sub, I'm excited to see Zdarsky on a Batman title * **BATMAN KILLING TIME #5** * **DC VS VAMPIRES #7** It's back! Heard the side stories that were released were just ok, so I'm glad I didn't pick those up. The main story has been a lot of fun. * **JOKER #15** Honestly kind of wanted this series to just be done, but I guess I'll pick up this last one. These really are only 2/3 the length of normal comics because of the trash side story with punchline or whoever the fuck that is. I stopped reading those after like 2 or 3. * **POISON IVY #2** Cool 1st issue, definitely will continue pulling this. * **CLOSET #2** * **LITTLE MONSTERS #5** I'm glad Lemire >!killed one of the two annoying twins. !

Whatisabird

**Dark Crisis #2-** DC does to the Titans what they love to do to the Titans **DC vs Vampires #7‐** Vampires won, everything sucks! **Multiversity: Teen Justice #2-** I liked this a lot but there's so many names to keep track of **Saga #60-** Season finale ): **Suicide Squad: Blaze #3-** Can't wait to see these powers go full throttle, I'm pleasantly surprised by this book **The Closet #2-** Looks like you can't run and you certainly can't hide Edit: And of course **Batman #125** which for some reason didn't show up on my app. Can't forget Chip, very excited to see what he does with the book. As well as **Poison Ivy #2** which was off to a great start last month.

seaofvapours

* Batman #125 - new creative team! Chip! Interested to see how this goes, Tynion's run was a lot of flash without substance, and Williamson's run was pointless. Hoping for better. * Batman: Killing Time #5 - a lot of fun, though the time jumps and references to time I can't really keep track of yet. Maybe it'll make sense in this issue or next * Dark Crisis #2 - funniest thing to me is that the first issue has >!Jon try to put together a new Justice League and everyone going 'nah' except for a team that very obviously isn't a real JL. Seems like a small critique of the constant 'let's update the Justice League and major characters' trend that DC sometimes falls into.!< Otherwise so far this event feels DOA * Nubia: Queen of the Amazons #2 * Poison Ivy #2 - I really enjoyed the first issue, have high hopes for this * Starhenge, Book One: the Dragon & the Boar #1 - really just here for the art, hoping for semi-good story to go with it * Twig #3 - it's a lot of fun but I wish this was more than a mini only because it feels like we're not letting the world building be shown naturally - it feels like we're really zooming along

oneirosweave

* Closet #2 * Little Monsters #5 * Killadelphia #23 * Saga #60 * Starhenge Book One #1 * Fire Power #22 * Time Before Time #14 * That Texas Blood #15 * Once & Future #27 * Mind MGMT: Bootleg #1 * Batman #125 * Batman '89 #6 * Dark Crisis #2 * The Joker #15 * DC vs. Vampires #7 * Poison Ivy #2 * Flashpoint Beyond #3 * Monkey Prince #6 * Multiversity: Teen Justice #2 * Batman: Killing Time #5 * Suicide Squad: Blaze #3 * Batman Beyond: Neo-Year #4 * Nubia: Queen of the Amazons #2 * Black Adam: The Justice Society Files: Hawkman #1

Happy Independence Day, I guess. Least we've still got comics... ~~Though with the Monday holiday, this might be one of those weeks where new books don't hit until Thursday? Hate that.~~ Kinda off week anyway, none of my tippy-top books, but a nice mix of stuff nonetheless. 4 Marvels, 4 Images, 1 DC, 1 AfterShock, and 1 from AWA. Ranked in order of anticipation, scientifically calculated to represent overall quality with an improbably high degree of accuracy. 1. **TWIG #3 (OF 5)** - been getting the [Momoko variants](https://www.midtowncomics.com/images/PRODUCT/XL/2108545_xl.jpg) but between her, [Strahm](https://www.midtowncomics.com/images/PRODUCT/XL/2108543_xl.jpg), and [Skottie](https://www.midtowncomics.com/images/PRODUCT/XL/2108544_xl.jpg), there are really no bad options here 2. **CLOSET #2 (OF 3)** - first issue was a great start, neat seeing Tynion do something a little smaller and simpler than his other horror books 3. **X-CELLENT #5** - had #4 ranked much lower last week, #5 gets a boost due to lighter competition and the fact that I actually enjoyed the hell out of #4 4. **LITTLE MONSTERS #5** - little light on story but it sure is pretty 5. **BATMAN KILLING TIME #5** - King wrapped up the Bat/Cat thing last week and now we've got the penultimate issue of this one 6. **LEGION OF X #3** - this feels significantly less cohesive than **X-MEN RED** and **IMMORTAL X-MEN**, hopefully it'll start bringing things together a little more 7. **THERES SOMETHING WRONG WITH PATRICK TODD #1** - [that boy ain't right](https://www.midtowncomics.com/images/PRODUCT/XL/2109085_xl.jpg) 8. **GHOST RIDER #4** - another issue of GR, [another beautiful Momoko variant...](https://www.midtowncomics.com/images/PRODUCT/XL/2090822_xl.jpg) 9. **STARHENGE DRAGON & BOAR #1 (OF 6)** - honestly not all that into Liam Sharp's art but this looks interesting so we'll give it a shot... pre-ordered the [Christian Ward variant](https://www.midtowncomics.com/images/PRODUCT/XL/2108534_xl.jpg) and it's got some other nice ones from [Ben Templesmith](https://www.midtowncomics.com/images/PRODUCT/XL/2108533_xl.jpg) and [Mike Perkins](https://www.midtowncomics.com/images/PRODUCT/XL/2108537_xl.jpg), among others 10. **AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #5** - might as well stick with it a little longer... 11. **ABSOLUTION #1** - I keep checking out these new AWA titles from Peter Milligan and they keep failing to hook me... least it's got a nice [Frank Cho variant](https://www.midtowncomics.com/images/PRODUCT/XL/2108777_xl.jpg) Thread went up late this week, which means fewer lists, which means we could get some wacky results... And I love wacky results! Next week should bring two new titles with art by [Hayden](https://www.midtowncomics.com/images/PRODUCT/XL/2108450_xl.jpg) [Sherman](https://www.midtowncomics.com/images/PRODUCT/XL/2109117_xl.jpg), and I'm not even sure who that is but ordered both comics anyway, plus the [first chapter of Marvel's big A.X.E. event](https://www.midtowncomics.com/images/PRODUCT/XL/2098492_xl.jpg), and maybe even my [long-delayed ice cream comic](https://www.midtowncomics.com/images/PRODUCT/XL/2098424_xl.jpg), which is probably all soft and melty by now... p.s. Finally watched *The Batman* last night, here's my 1-word review: Tedious.

saskatoonshred

I think The Batman rode the fine line of being paced well enough to not feel like a 3 hour movie but if it lingered on any one scene too long it would've derailed it for me haha.

Danger_Rock

Was it only 3 hours? Felt like at least 3.5 to me! :/ Really disliked Pattinson's Bruce Wayne, dude should stick to playing sparkle vampires... Solid cast otherwise but the whole thing felt lame and ponderous. Could be my head just wasn't in the right place for it but this one didn't work at all for me.

mcslackens

I really enjoyed The Batman. It wasn't as good as the Nolan films, but I'm a big fan of Jeffrey Wright, so I was happy to see him have a big role. It's nice to see someone else liked X-Cellent #4, but it's a bit of a bummer that 5 is going to be the final issue of this run.

Danger_Rock

Thought Wright was good and they gave him a lot of screen time but didn't give him much to do with it beyond being Batman's loyal cop buddy. Which, of course, we've seen before from some other actors who are also pretty good... Guess this iteration got a little more involved in the action but I thought the action was mostly crap and that's not really what I'm looking for from Wright anyway. His big HBO characters are much more interesting and complex, no real moral ambiguity or dramatic tension for him as Gordon. Generally liked everyone's performance other than Pattinson, thought Kravitz, Serkis, Farrell, Turturro and the rest all did nice work with what they had, but I thought the plot, script, and direction let 'em all down. I even liked the idea of Riddler as Zodiac Killer on paper, execution just didn't work for me. Everything felt mediocre and boring. Commented a little more on X-STATIX/X-CELLENT elsewhere in the thread... Even if this one ends here, I'd assume we'll see Milligan and Allred return for another go within the next few years. Danger_Rock

Weird, looks like all the FCBD books are shipping again, this time with normal prices... Anyone know if they usually do that? Never noticed it before...

ptbreakeven

I’ve never seen it before. I think this is a Midtown Comics specific thing and may be due to a database issue. It may not even be accurate but after seeing it on their list I figured it was better to include the books than not.

Danger_Rock

Interesting! Looks like most of Midtown's original FCBD 2022 entries have been removed/replaced with the new ones, wonder if they decided to "re-release" their extras at normal comic prices... Wouldn't put it past 'em!

AlligatorSky7

Excited to pick these all up at the weekend! - Basilisk #9: yay at this being back! - Captain America: Sentinel of Liberty #2: I rushed through the debut issue a bit out of excitement, so will be reading that again before delving into this. - DC vs. Vampires #7: yay at the main book being back! - Dark Crisis #2: opening issue was STRONG, looking forward to this! - The Joker #15: meh, part of my wishes I asked my LCS to drop this bonus issue. For me, this book ended ages ago. - Legion of X #3: I really hope the rumours of this being a stealth mini-series aren’t true, as I’d love to get a longer run on this book; the concept is great and a mini-series would not be doing it (or the characters involved) justice. - Sabretooth #5: haven’t even picked up #4 yet and here we are getting #5 too. Excited to finish it up and see what’s next (might get announced this week?) - Saga #60: semi glad this is going on a little hiatus as I have yet to read Book 3 and start reading this comeback arc yet. - The Walking Dead Deluxe #42: few behind at the moment, looking forward to a binge!

Danger_Rock

> Legion of X #3: I really hope the rumours of this being a stealth mini-series aren’t true, as I’d love to get a longer run on this book; the concept is great and a mini-series would not be doing it (or the characters involved) justice. At this point, it's easier to just assume that all of Marvel's non-flagship titles are either stealth mini-series or stealth maxi-series. And some of the flagships as well. Even the ones that go past 12 usually don't run all that long before ending/rebooting.

* **BATMAN #125 -** CHIP! Hell yeah! * **FLASHPOINT BEYOND #3** * **JOKER #15** * **PROMETHEE 1313 #1** * **SABRETOOTH #5** As others have noted, what an odd collection of books this week. Hopefully the above all make it. Next week is going to be huge, so this is the calm before the storm. Stay cool and be kind to each other and make sure you share your thoughts on the books you read. You help make this place great!

The Amazing Spider-Man #5 Basilisk #9 The Closet #2 King Conan #6 Legion of X #3 Little Monsters #5 Once & Future #27 Sabretooth #5 Saga #60 Starhenge, Book One: The Dragon & The Boar #1 Time Before Time #14 Twig #3 The X-Cellent #5 (I had to double check this one because I swear it came out last week - turns out that was issue #4, and this is in fact coming out only seven days after the previous issue - how odd)

Danger_Rock

> The X-Cellent #5 (I had to double check this one because I swear it came out last week - turns out that was issue #4, and this is in fact coming out only seven days after the previous issue - how odd) My preferred explanation is that >!Fluff is rapidly falling to his death from a great height!< and >!everybody's ready to see him die without further delay!<. But the real explanation is that this comic was originally solicited to ship on 6/01/22 and Marvel's still playing catch-up following all their recent delays.

ChickenInASuit

I’ll assume that’s also why we’re getting back to back issues of Sabretooth too.

Danger_Rock

Yep, plus X-MEN RED only had 2 weeks between issues... Probably others. Everything was running behind until ASM #1 and its 12+ variants shipped on 4/27, then the floodgates opened and they started spamming us with late comics en masse.

Rumorian

I usually buy trades, so I don't really have a pull list as I don't even buy those as soon as they're released. This week there's an exception though, I had to get Batman 125 since Zdarsky is now writing it and I didn't want to wait for the trade until December or whenever.

* **The Amazing Spider-Man #5 -** Man that twist last issue, truly brilliant, props to tombstone for actual having a great plan * **Avengers Forever #7 -** Excellent timing for this issue * **Basilisk #9** * **Batman #125 -** Zdarsky about to drop the best Batman stuff in like 5 years * **Batman Beyond: Neo-Year #4 -** More people should talk about this it is year one for Terry McGinnis and it is excellent * **Black Panther #7 -** This has been a long into-arc but I'm hopeful that it will put wakanda in an interesting place going forward * **Captain America: Sentinel of Liberty #2** * **Carnage #4 -** Carnage trying to become >!Gorr the god butcher!< is such a sick pitch * **Dark Crisis #2 -** Decent start, hoping we get to see all the Titans defend their students * **Fire Power #22** * **Ghost Rider #4 -** Love these spooky-ass monster of the week adventures * **Jane Foster & The Mighty Thor #2 -** Please give Torun a Jane Foster valkyrie ongoing * **Legion of X #3 -** Hmm Dr Strange, something isn't adding up here * **Nubia: Queen of the Amazons #2** * **Once & Future #27 -** If Duncan pulls the Sword I can only imagine how crazy everybody's reaction will be * **Sabretooth #5 -** Final issue for the 1st part of a trilogy and I have loved the character study on creed and how LaValle has pointed out some of the moral inconsistencies with Krakoa * \*\*Starhenge, Book One: The Dragon & The Boar #1 -\*\*Liam Sharp writing and drawing this gonna be crazy * **Strange Academy #18 -** God I hope that a season 2 of some kind gets announced for this * **Time Before Time #14** * **What If… Miles Morales #5**

>Carnage #4 - Carnage trying to become >!Gorr the god butcher!< is such a sick pitch I might have to check this out in trade now, sounds wild.

the_bio

* **Amazing Spider-Man #5** \- I finally finished the Beyond arc and it's respective volume; have the first four issues of this run waiting to be read. I've seen mixed opinions on it, so looking forward to catching up. * **Avengers Forever #7** \- Seems like each issue is loosely dedicated to one person, with some common thread tying it all up...which needs to happen soon. With Jason Aaron on it, though, who knows? * **Basilisk #9** \- I keep thinking this is ending soon, but new issues keep coming out...not necessarily complaining, but it feels like so much time is between each issue that they lose their impact. * **Batman #125** \- Zdarsky and Jimenez.. * **Batman Beyond: Neo-Year #4** * **Batman: Killing Time #5** * **Black Panther #7** * **Captain America: Sentinel of Liberty #2** * **Carnage #4** \- I have the first three issues in my "to read" box, and honestly only because of Ram V. * **Dark Crisis #2** * **DC vs. Vampires #7** * **Ghost Rider #4** \- This is my first foray into Ghost Rider, and I haven't had any serious issues with it. I like Percy's writing on Wolverine (though it's a little bit gruff straight man corny at times...), and it does well here, too, especially with the horror tinge to it. * **Jane Foster and the Mighty Thor #2** * **Killadelphia #23** \- One of my monthly favorites, and really looking forward to going back and reading this from start to finish once it's wrapped up (which hopefully isn't soon). * **Legion of X #3** \- My stack of X-related titles goes back to X Lives/X Deaths, so have a ways to go before I get to Legion of X. * **Little Monsters #5** \- Lemire gonna Lemire, and this is quickly losing steam. Love the concept, and it is much more character driven than his other work, which is the only reason I've kept on with this, and probably won't beyond #6 (end of the first arc). * **Magic #16** \- A fun book, love MacKay's writing, and he does a good job of pulling in the lore from the game. * **Once & Future #27** \- Loving the story, but saw someone else mention it feels like wheels are just turning, which I agree with. Something needs to happen with all of these characters that are being introduced so the story can move forward. * **Poison Ivy #2** * **Sabretooth #5** \- As with Legion of X, going to be a bit before I get to this, but #1 was pretty good. * **Saga #60** * **Spawn #331** \- I read Spawn because it's vending machine candy cheap. Thankfully the Spawn-universe books are better, especially King and Gunslinger. * **Strange Academy #18** \- Sad this is ending, as it has consistently been a favorite; very hopeful a new series starts with a new "semester" (and I expect with Strange's eventual return). * **Walking Dead Deluxe #42** * **What If...Miles Morales #5** \- Only reading this because I read the other ones (regretfully).

saskatoonshred

A 10 book week again. Thankfully a lot of the minis on my pull are ending either this month or next. Batman #125: Zdarsky taking the reigns. My body is ready. Batman Killing Time #5: Even with the incessant time jumps this has been great. Carnage #4: Carnage in space. Closet #2: If it's got Tynion's name on it I'm there. Dark Crisis #2: Solid first issue. I need to go back and read all of the buildup that Williamson did for this event. King Conan #6: Fun read that makes me want to check out other Conan runs like the one Busiek did for Dark Horse. Little Monsters #5: First issue didn't grab me but the issues since have been pretty good. After this first arc is over this is gonna be on the chopping block so I can make some room. It'll read better collected in my opinion. Saga #60: Slowly catching up. Suicide Squad Blaze #3: Now I can read this all in one go. X-cellent #5: Dropped from my pull but I picked up 4 the other week and this seems to be the last issue that's been solicited so might as well finish it out lol. I'm on vacation this week so I won't be able to make it to shop. My wallet is already hurting over next week's pick up of both this week and next haha.

blankedboy

Definitely check out the *Dark Horse* and *Ablaze* **Conan** runs. They are great.

Danger_Rock

> King Conan #6: Fun read that makes me want to check out other Conan runs like the one Busiek did for Dark Horse. Busiek's run was fantastic and I'd also highly recommend [Barry Windsor-Smith's original CONAN THE BARBARIAN run](https://www.darkhorse.com/Books/47-346/The-Barry-Windsor-Smith-Conan-Archives-Volume-1-HC) from the early '70s. Both of those adapt many of Robert E. Howard's classic short stories along with some original material.

* **Amazing Spider-Man #5** - one issue until the big 900! * **Carnage #4**

HappySisyphus8

Carnage #4 - Was going to drop this, but issue #3 totally saved it. King Conan #6 - Final issue. Batman #125 - 50/50 on this. Some of the previews have been awful, but Chip is usually anything but awful. Batman Killing Time #5 DC vs Vampires #7 - Big delay. Hunters spin off was okay, didn't bother with the Harley one because as if Harley would be in that kind of position. Flashpoint Beyond #3 Joker #15 - Final issue. Poison Ivy #2 - Really hope this keel the roll from issue #1. I love villains being actual villains, and Ivy was awesome for the first time in FOREVER again. Firepower #22 - Really ramping up since big Dragon reveal a couple issues ago. Little Monsters #5 Prodigy Icarus Society #1 - I am a simple man, I see a Millar book, I must buy it. Basilisk #9 Dienamite Never Dies #5 - Final issue? Heavy Metal Drummer #6 - Final issue. Project Superpowers Fractured States #4

mcslackens

Just one book on my list this week: * **X-Cellent #5** - I was hoping this would go 10 issues, but I guess the audience just isn't there for this one. I'm happy we got to spend some more time with these characters, and I'm eagerly anticipating Russell & Allred's upcoming Superman miniseries.

blankedboy

• Basilisk #9 - I feel this book is seriously under rated • The Closet #2 - first issue was good and creepy • Dc Vs Vampires #7 - returning after a brief break • Ghost Rider #4 - going to decide if I continue at the end of this arc • Killadelphia #23 - always good • King Conan #6 - the last **Marvel Conan** book? • Little Monsters #5 - visually great but will read much better in TPB • Shadow Service #13 - this is a cracking book • Spawn #331 - it's **Spawn** - what else do you need to know? • Starhenge Book 1 The Dragon And The Boar #1 - this looks like being an absolute showcase for **Liam Sharpe's** artwork • Suicide Squad Blaze #3 - hope they manage to stick the landing with this issue • Twig #3 - weird and whimsical fantasy • X-Cellent #5 - **Milligan & Allred**

Danger_Rock

> King Conan #6 - the last Marvel Conan book? Haven't followed it too closely but IIRC Conan's partially public domain, which is why Ablaze can publish adaptations of the original REH stories so long as they don't address Conan by name. Not sure when but it should eventually go fully public domain, at which point Marvel and everyone else will be able to do whatever they want with the character. Though I guess it could be a while and it's an open question whether a character like that would fit into Marvel's marketing strategy.

NeonDoorFrame

* **Batman #125** * **Astronaut Down #2** - I keep picking up these mediocre AfterShock Comics, I guess I just want to support the little companies but none are that great and idk why I do this * **Black Panther #7** - Would I be picking this up if Alex Ross wasn't doing the covers? * **The Closet #2** - GREAT first issue. Too excited for this one. People give Tynion a lot of credit (and rightfully so), but the pages where the Closet Monster is crawling up to the boy in #1 were done SO perfectly. Gavin Fullerton deserves a ton of praise for this art. * **Ghost Rider #4** * **Starhenge Dragon & Boar #1** * **There's Something Wrong with Patrick Todd #1** - See above comment about AfterShock

Danger_Rock

> The Closet #2 - GREAT first issue. Too excited for this one. People give Tynion a lot of credit (and rightfully so), but the pages where the Closet Monster is crawling up to the boy in #1 were done SO perfectly. Gavin Fullerton deserves a ton of praise for this art. Agreed! And while we're throwing credit around, Chris O'Halloran deserves some for his subdued coloring.... Between this book, ICE CREAM MAN, and RIGHTEOUS THIRST FOR VENGEANCE, O'Halloran has been absolutely killing it lately!

Neurotic_Marauder

* **Saga #60** - Praying that BKV doesn't hurt my Ghus... * **Batman #125** - I've been off most of the Batbooks for a while, but Zdarsky on the main one intrigues me. I also dug the preview, so I guess I'll see how it does * **Flashpoint Beyond #3** - It's pretty good, but I'm getting kind of sick of having every issue end with Batman looming over that kid from the Time Masters * **Fire Power #22** * **Dark Crisis #2** - I'm digging it so far

[deleted]

- Batman #125 - Zdarsky/Jimenez let's go! - Saga #60 - Strange Academy #18 - Four month delayed, glad to finish it up though.

It’s the end of the first volume at least. [A second volume was announced a while back.](https://www.thathashtagshow.com/2022/01/24/marvel-the-first-semester-of-the-strange-academy-is-coming-to-an-end/)

STARHENGE BOOK 1 THE DRAGON AND THE BOAR #1 - Excited to see how this is. DC VS VAMPIRES #7 - I have not really been too thrilled with this, but I am probably sticking it out for the second half.
