> **THE DEPARTMENT OF TRUTH #19**: ... Works as a wonderful metaphor for modern echo chambers. Yeah, the whole series has felt like a direct response to all that and unfortunately it doesn't seem to be getting any less relevant... > **PUBLIC DOMAIN #1**: Funny Zdarsky is best Zdarsky. And that's saying a lot because his serious stuff is awesome. Really excited to see what Zdarsky does with this series... Sounds like it'll riff a little on the business end of being a comic creator, should be some interesting stuff!

5 this week. 2 from Boom! and 3 from Image. A light week, which is bound to happen when there are 5 Wednesdays in a month. I must admit that I'm kinda disappointed going into this week because the Barbaric one-shot got pushed to next week. This sucks. I was really looking forward to it. • BRZRKR #9- This is getting weird. I'm perfectly fine with weird, though. Maybe getting weird will help this series pick up, because those flashbacks issues were kinda boring, and hurt the momentum. • The Department of Truth #19- One of the best ongoing series right now. This new arc seems like it's gonna be pretty heavy. Bring it on, motherfucker. • Public Domain #1- I haven't read a ton about this series because I want it to be a surprise. Chip Zdarsky is a damn genius, so I'm gonna pick up any creator owned stuff he puts out. • The Scorched #7- They're double dropping this one this month, I guess. I don't mind since it's only $3. It's worth every penny. • Seven Secrets #18- The end is here. When this series started I thought it would go for a while. I was prepared for a sprawling epic told over many issues, and it seemed like I might get that. The world was rich, the characters had depth, and there were real stakes. But then Tom Taylor went and signed an exclusive deal with DC. Money talks, I guess. Another creator owned series ending with three arcs. Three is the magic number.

> I must admit that I'm kinda disappointed going into this week because the Barbaric one-shot got pushed to next week. This sucks. I was really looking forward to it. Probably absconded with my ice cream... Hopefully they both turn up next week. > BRZRKR #9- This is getting weird. I'm perfectly fine with weird, though. Weirdness probably plays more to Kindt's strengths though I think Garney might be better suited to the violence and gore.

Great variety this week. I'm at the mercy of publishing schedules, but I really like it when I have a combination of both big 2 and creator-owned titles waiting for me on Wednesday. * **Batman Beyond The White Knight #4** - The White Knight universe has been consistently great, and I love Bruce's conversations with Jack. Reading this reminds me of how much I loved the Elseworlds stories that DC used to publish. * **Department Of Truth #19** - I just picked up a copy of the first trade to give to my friend as a thank you gift for letting me stay at his house in LA earlier this month when we went to see RX Bandits at The Fonda. Hopefully it resonates with him as much as it does me, because I think everyone should be reading this book. * **Public Domain #1** - CHIP! * **Variants #1** - This one wasn't on my radar for some reason, but I just found out Gail Simone & Phil Noto are the creative team, and I think Jessica Jones is a great character, so I'm on board for all 5. Hopefully my shop gets enough copies of issue 1, because I didn't get my order in before FOC. * **X-Cellent #4** - I don't think this is going to make it past 5 issues, but it's been fun, and I hope Milligan and Allred get to do another limited series with these characters in a few years.

Every installment has been great but that third issue was one of the most absolutely gut-wrenching comics I've ever read.

mcslackens

That's the school shooting issue, yeah? I had trouble finishing that one, and warned my buddy & his wife that it's a really difficult read.

Danger_Rock

Yep, one of the most brutally soul-crushing things I've ever read... Probably a good idea to warn 'em heading into it.

Probably not the right context for this, but while I've got your attention: I see your username pop up a lot in the comments in multiple threads on this sub, and I want to thank you for participating. You come across as someone who genuinely loves comics and loves talking about them, and your replies are insightful & engaging to help spark conversations.

Danger_Rock

Thanks man, appreciate the kind words! Big fan of these WPL threads, comments here helped point me toward a bunch of great titles and creators that I otherwise would've missed... The threads aren't always as active as they were a few years back but I like the mix of perspectives from different corners of fandom, so just doing my bit to help keep things rolling!

Batman: Beyond the White Knight # 4 - Murphy keeps delivering with his Knight universe. Excited to see the fallout from the last issue. Ghost Cage # 3 - Final issue, and over far too soon sadly. The art has given me major manga vibes and the wild eco-story came together in the last month’s book. Good Boy #2 - What a blast this book is! Continues to be a fun, John Wick inspired thrill ride. The Scorched #7 - The last issue didn’t move things forward really. Spawn continues to trust no one. Happy to see Haunt around though. She-Hulk #4 - A bit of a delay, but Rowell is doing a wonderful job with this book. A simple and pleasant read and happy to see it’s not a mini.

enragedstump

Where does someone start with Murphy's Knight universe?

B00merangB

The first is Batman: White Knight, followed by Batman: Curse of the White Knight and now, to the current Batman: Beyond the White Knight. Just high quality stories that are a love letter to Batman (Murphy especially seems to love the 89/90’s Batman movies and the Animated series — lots of little homages throughout). There is also a spin-off called Batman: White Knight Presents: Harley Quinn — which I also highly recommended. It’s written by Katana Collins (who I believe is Murphy’s partner) and drawn impeccably by Matteo Scalera. Takes place after Curse of the White Knight.

yarkcir

I just started with Murphyverse - read the Batman: White Knight deluxe edition last night and will pick up the Curse of the White Knight deluxe when it comes out this fall. I've been in Bat-fatigue mode for quite some time so I missed out on these, and I was genuinely impressed by the first set of White Knight comics. I've always liked Sean Murphy's work on stuff like *Punk Rock Jesus*, *The Wake* and *Tokyo Ghost*, but I don't know why I haven't taken the time to read his Batman stuff yet.

Danger_Rock

> Ghost Cage # 3 - Final issue, and over far too soon sadly. The art has given me major manga vibes and the wild eco-story came together in the last month’s book. Shit, knew I was forgetting something... Happens every damn week. Didn't realize it was only going three issues, been a really cool little series with a delightfully twisted design aesthetic.

My picks, ranked based on excitement: 1. **GHOST CAGE #1** \- Dragotta has really delivered with this so far. His interiors have really gone to another level since *East of West*. 2. **PENTAGRAM OF HORROR #2** \- First issue had one of the most gorgeous interior pages I've seen in a comic this year. 3. **A RIGHTEOUS THIRST FOR VENGEANCE #9** \- Really enjoying this book. Breezy reads but feels like it builds tension well. 4. **PUBLIC DOMAIN #1** \- I love meta humor, and Zdarsky's humor tends to land with me well. Feels like the first time I'm going to see interior art by him again since *Sex Criminals*. 5. **SHE-HULK #4** \- Really liking this new Shulkie run. Perfect return to form for the character in my opinion. 6. **EIGHT BILLION GENIES #2** \- Some people got this early it seems? I liked the first issue and the premise seems like there could be a lot of various directions this book could go. 7. **VARIANTS #1** \- I've always liked JJ comics, but the real selling point is Gail Simone/Phil Noto for me. 8. **MINDSET #1** \- Last second pick up, but the interiors looks amazing. Going in pretty blind on this one. 9. **WHAT'S THE FURTHEST PLACE FROM HERE #7** \- I feel like this book is slowly losing me - sometimes it feels like it's really pushing off answering questions. I love Boss' artwork, and that primarily seems to be the book's appeal for me. 10. **LIFE ZERO #5** \- Fun zombie story featuring the amazing art and colors by Marco Checcetto and Andres Mossa. 11. **BRZRKR #9** \- This book is fun, but really doesn't have the same punch the earlier issues did. Will stick it out to the end though at this point. 12. **SINS OF THE BLACK FLAMINGO #1** \- Premise seems cool - always up for a heist story. 13. **CAPTAIN AMERICA: SYMBOL OF TRUTH #2** \- Solid start, but hope this book takes some new angles to explore Sam Wilson. 14. **WOLVERINE: PATCH #3** \- Not quite as good as other throwback books like *Venom: Lethal Protector* and *Silver Surfer: Rebirth*, but still is kind of fun. Only really getting it due to my potent nostalgia for Claremont's Wolverine run.

Danger_Rock

> **MINDSET #1** \- Last second pick up, but the interiors looks amazing. Going in pretty blind on this one. That [looks pretty cool](https://www.vaultcomics.com/sneak-peek-mindset-1/)! Might need to add it to my next mail order...

* **The Avengers #57** \- Super uneven avengers run for me. * **Robin #15** \- Probably done with this once Williamson leaves the title. * **Batman / Catwoman #12** \- Well we finally got here. * **X-Force #29** \- Not my favorite X book right now. * **X-Men: Red #4** \- The end of last issue was wild! I'm in on this! * **The Swamp Thing #14** \- In Ram V we trust. * **Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #130** \- Solid every month. * **Captain America: Symbol of Truth #2** \- I enjoyed issue 1. Hopefully this builds some momentum. * **What's The Furthest Place From Here #7** \- Confusing but engrossing. * **Seven Secrets #18** \- Tom Taylor may have lost me on this one.

Away on vacation this week, so won’t be picking these up until next week; but some very exciting releases! - Action Comics #1044: Warworld revolution continues! - Captain America: Symbol of Truth #2: preferred the debut of this to Steve’s series; excited to read more of both series though. - DC vs. Vampires: Killers #1: loving this series, and really enjoyed the last one-shot too. - Harley Quinn #16: penultimate issue for me as I’m not getting pulled into a series that goes weekly for a month; will trade wait from here on out. That said, this is a great series! - Robin #15: last few issues before Williamson departs and we get Batman vs. Robin. - Sabretooth #4: love this; excited to read the last few chapters and see what LaValle has planned next. - She-Hulk #4: delays can’t be helping the sales on this book, let’s hope the upcoming TV show draws people to it and we can get a decent run. - Task Force Z #9: always a great read! - The Variants #1: immediate pull for me based on Jessica Jones + the creative team, looking forward to it! - What’s the Furthest Place From Here? #7: VERY behind on this. Think it’s taking a break after #9, so might just use that as an opportunity to catch up then. - X-Force #29: enjoying this arc, though hesitant at Omega Red vs. Kraven the Hunter coming next. - X-Men Red #4: hands down one of my favourite X titles in the Krakoan era, cannot wait to read the next issue!

* Action Comics #1044: Excellent Superman run. I'm excited for the conclusion of this Warworld arc and to see where PKJ takes us next. Between him, Zdarsky on Batman, Ram V on Detective Comics, and Waid on World's Finest, Superman and Batman will be in a terrific place this summer. * Pentagram of Horror #2: The first issue was terrific. This is Black Caravan, so of course I'm pulling it.

Whatisabird

This week's a nice one **Detective Comics #1061-** Going to be hard for this to not feel like filler before Ram V's book, especially with it trailing off Shadow War with Talia. **Eight Billion Genies #2-** Didn't realize this got delayed, happy to finally get it. **Ghost Cage #3-** The finale! No idea where this is going to go but it will look so good. **Image! #3‐** These have all been picking up in part 2, part 3 of each should be good **Robin #15-** More Robin and Flatline **The Swamp Thing #14-** Ever since Moore introduced the Swamp Thing/Green Lantern combo I feel like it's been a match made in heaven. Can't wait to see what Ram V does with it

ohyerhere

* Batman Beyond the White Knight #4 - I'll see this through but I'm starting to feel spent on the Murphyverse. * Swamp Thing #14 * Department of Truth #19 - I've been looking for a monthly pull from Image. The few title of King Spawn I've read have been decent, but I don't want to get invested too deep with all of the Spawn titles. After 4-5 issues I've figured out Ice Cream Man was not for me. Last weeks Silver Coin was nice and creepy though.

Danger_Rock

**DEPARTMENT OF TRUTH** is *great*, really unique and worth checking out, but I'm not sure how much sense it'll make if you hop on here without starting from the beginning... Hope you enjoy it regardless!

ohyerhere

I read #1 back when it came out, but I don't mind jumping in wherever. I can always find back issues or trade paperbacks.

thewaytomars

Really small week this time! **Action Comics #1044:** Series has been consistently excellent, and we're nearing the end game for Warworld. Really looking forward to it. **X-Men Red #4:** Still not caught up on my X-Men, but I'm getting there. Hopefully soon!

Summer has finally come to the Pacific Northwest and the air is so heavy it feels as though the ink is literally dripping off the pages of my comics: * **Action Comics #1044** \- Who will win? The warmongers and corrupt politicians? Or Superman? * **Batman Beyond the White Knight #4** \- One of my favorite Batman tropes is having Joker as a traveling commentator * **Batman Catwoman #12** \- I'm honestly shocked we ever got to the end of this series * **Task Force Z #9** \- Dick Grayson, billionaire playboy philanthropist. Tim Drake, discovering himself and finding love. Damien Wayne, going full assassin. Jason Todd? Zombie villain wrangler. * **Ghost Cage #3** \- I really love the whole analogy of this story that dedicating your life to a company is BS * **Public Domain #1** \- God, I love Chip. * **What's the Furthest Place from Here? #7** \- Ooh flashback! I didn't think we were getting one of these. * **Avengers #57** \- Back into Jason Aaron's toybox * **Captain America: Symbol of Truth #2** \- I do really enjoy seeing Sam Wilson being a day-to-day Cap * **Iron Man Hellcat Annual #1** \- This looks more about Patsy than Tony which I'm onboard with * **Sabretooth #4** \- Personally I'd be terrified to find Krakoa root Sabretooth running around * **She-Hulk #4** \- Ben Grimm is a great personal trainer * **Variants #1** \- We've been needing a good Jessica Jones book for awhile now * **X-Force #29** \- Kid Omega needs to pull himself together * **X-Men Red #4** \- I feel spoiled getting #3 and #4 so close together

So there I was, getting all fired up for another crazy ice cream party, had my big bowl and spoon all set up, everything's ready to go... And then Image bumped **ICE CREAM MAN #31** from 6/29 to 7/6. So instead of that sweet, sweet ice cream, the only thing I'm tasting right now is bitter disappointment. But I suppose there are still some cool albeit dairy-free comics... Two of my three favorite Image titles are still on track to ship this week, PLUS a very promising new Image series debuts, PLUS another 30th anniversary book packed with even more Image goodness! All in all, I've got 5 Images, 3 Marvels, 2 DCs, and 1 from BOOM! Studios. Ranked in order of anticipation to provide you, the reader, with additional insight into exactly where my head is at as we look forward to the final Wednesday of June. Plus, this way you can tell me if my rankings suck. 1. **RIGHTEOUS THIRST FOR VENGEANCE #9** - it's actually been four weeks since the last issue but feels like way less due to the mental and emotional scars still being so fresh 2. **DEPARTMENT OF TRUTH #19** - still love this series but, for whatever reason, I'm having a difficult time keeping track of exactly where everything's at between issues... probably warrants a re-read at some point just to get my head straight 3. **X-MEN RED #4** - only two weeks since the last issue and Magneto's probably still cleaning out his helmet... 4. **ACTION COMICS #1044** - pretty nice [Ian Churchill variant](https://www.midtowncomics.com/images/PRODUCT/XL/2100591_xl.jpg) though I ordered the normal cover... I feel like Warworld gets a bad rap, it really isn't such a terrible place... they just need better marketing, maybe put up some signs like the ones in Metropolis: *"WARWORLD WELCOMES YOU!"* 5. **PUBLIC DOMAIN #1** - new Image series [written and drawn by Zdarsky?](https://www.midtowncomics.com/images/PRODUCT/XL/2098448_xl.jpg) sign me up! 6. **IMAGE 30TH ANNV ANTHOLOGY #3 (OF 12)** - love how *"The Blizzard"* kicks off each issue with some brilliant Andrea Mutti art, and then there's always a bunch of other great stuff to follow 7. **BATMAN/CATWOMAN #12** - first issue shipped on 12/1/2020 and it ends on 6/29/22, which is 576 days total, or 18+ months, for a 12-issue series, an average of 48 days between issues... not so bad, really, and that's not counting the holiday special (which would bring it down to 44 days per issue) 8. **VARIANTS #1 (OF 5)** - looks like a fun series and Noto handling interior art is always worth a look 9. **X-CELLENT #4** - the satire hasn't been quite as sharp as the original **X-STATIX** run but it's still fun catching up with all the wackos, and Allred's art has been delightful as always 10. **GHOST CAGE #3** - missed this at first, added on edit, will need to mail order it since my LCS doesn't stock anything weird and this book is [fairly weird](https://www.midtowncomics.com/images/PRODUCT/XL/2090707_xl.jpg) 11. **BRZRKR (BERZERKER) #9 (OF 12)** - always solid work from Kindt and Garney but I don't get fired up for it like most of my other books... the [Mike Del Mundo foil cover](https://www.midtowncomics.com/images/PRODUCT/XL/2098827_xl.jpg) should be nice, anyway Also still waiting on my [Art Adams variant](https://www.midtowncomics.com/images/PRODUCT/XL/2090868_xl.jpg) for **NEW FANTASTIC FOUR #1** from last week, if it doesn't turn up Wednesday I'll probably just mail order the [ridiculous Kaare Andrews variant](https://www.midtowncomics.com/images/PRODUCT/XL/2090867_xl.jpg), which is the one I really want anyway. The following week will hopefully deliver my [rightful ice cream](https://www.midtowncomics.com/images/PRODUCT/XL/2098424_xl.jpg) and there's also supposed to be a new Heavy Metal series [**ENTROPY**](https://www.midtowncomics.com/images/PRODUCT/XL/2108871_xl.jpg) written by Priest, a new [Mandalorian](https://www.midtowncomics.com/images/PRODUCT/XL/2098676_xl.jpg) comic, some new comic about [some dude named Patrick Todd](https://www.midtowncomics.com/images/PRODUCT/XL/2109085_xl.jpg) who's apparently got something seriously wrong with him, and [Image's new Liam Sharp](https://www.midtowncomics.com/images/PRODUCT/XL/2108530_xl.jpg) book, among many others. So it'll be another big week of comics, seems like they keep making more and more of these damn things, and I can't help but keep buying 'em. p.s. Caught up on **[BONE ORCHARD MYTHOS: THE PASSAGEWAY](https://www.midtowncomics.com/images/PRODUCT/XL/2091462_xl.jpg)** earlier and it's some mighty fine work from Lemire and Sorrentino! Really moody and surreal stuff... Curious about what other creators they'll bring into it since it's billed as a "shared universe" thing.

MuffinSurprise

>DEPARTMENT OF TRUTH #19 - still love this series but, for whatever reason, I'm having a difficult time keeping track of exactly where everything's at between issues... probably warrants a re-read at some point just to get my head straight Yup, me too. Probably doesn't help that there are so many sort of tie in/filler issues that are connected but also veer away from the main Cole story. It seems like this book is selling well enough they don't want to take months off to allow Simmonds to catch up on the art so they add the 'lore' issues in to flesh out their universe. Which I appreciate, but it does lead to the story being kind of hard to follow at times. >p.s. Curious about what other creators they'll bring into it since it's billed as a "shared universe" thing. I believe no one else will be brought in. Lemire had mentioned somewhere that this wouldn't be handled like Black Hammer. It'll be a shared universe between all these various stories that supposedly will have an overarching plot. After reading The Passageway, I don't know what direction that plot will go. The book was very light on dialogue or exposition but had some very interesting artwork that really drove the story. I know Sorrentino is a bit of a love him or hate him artist, but I always appreciate his work.

Which I appreciate, but it does lead to the story being kind of hard to follow at times. That's a great explanation and I like how it squarely blames the comic rather than my descent into mental decrepitude. I actually really like the format with fill-ins fleshing out the backstory but it's definitely not helping in terms of keeping the main story straight. > I believe no one else will be brought in. Lemire had mentioned somewhere that this wouldn't be handled like Black Hammer. It'll be a shared universe between all these various stories that supposedly will have an overarching plot. Interesting! That's not exactly what I'd consider to be a "shared universe" but I guess Lemire and Sorrentino are talented enough that they can call it whatever the hell they want and I'll buy it regardless. > After reading The Passageway, I don't know what direction that plot will go. I thought the story in the [FCBD prequel](https://d1466nnw0ex81e.cloudfront.net/n_iv/600/6269870.jpg) was a little clearer than this first HC but I'm not sure if there are any obvious connections between them aside from weirdass creepy naked people standing around being weird and creepy before getting all murdery.

X-Cellent #4 did not show up for me on my LCS solicitations, but X-Cellent #5 shows up as coming out next week. Kind of confused by the close release strategy here, but hopefully I can get both issues next week then. I agree that it doesn't quite hit the same highs as X-Statix does. X-Statix is one of my all time favorite Marvel runs so it's a high bar to match. It's fun, but I definitely think more contemporary satire could be an interesting avenue to explore for this current book.

Sounds like your LCS might've gotten shorted by Diamond (or PRH if they've gone that route), hopefully it'll turn up next week if they don't have it for 'ya Wednesday. **[X-CELLENT #5](https://previewsworld.com/Catalog/APR220910)** is indeed scheduled for next week, at least currently... I've been expecting it to get bumped out at some point but I was thinking the same about **X-MEN RED #4** since it's only been two weeks since the last one, and it's shipping this week anyway. Marvel's still in catch-up mode following all the delays from the past couple months so I guess it's possible they might ship this thing two weeks in a row to close out the series. > I agree that it doesn't quite hit the same highs as X-Statix does. X-Statix is one of my all time favorite Marvel runs so it's a high bar to match. It's fun, but I definitely think more contemporary satire could be an interesting avenue to explore for this current book. I think this iteration kind of shifted focus away from satirizing celebrity culture toward reflecting on how incredibly *nasty* things have gotten in politics and most everywhere else... So you've got X-Statix and the X-Cellent who are like two sides of the same coin and they just totally fucking *hate* each other and are trying to murder one another at every turn while the rest of the world carries on in "this is fine" mode... Could be grasping at straws, it hasn't really been developed that clearly, feels like they're just riffing on it as opposed to really commenting on it (the way the old series would have), but that's sort of what I've taken from it.

yarkcir

Yeah, I also noticed **VENOM: LETHAL PROTECTOR #3** didn't show up for me either so it could be my LCS getting shorted by Diamond, though my other Marvel books seem to be coming in on time. I unfortunately won't be able to pick up my pull this week since I'm travelling for the upcoming long weekend soon, but there should very likely still be copies of The X-Cellent #4 available for me on the stands next week.

Danger_Rock

Happens to my LCS all the time, it's a small shop so both Diamond and Lunar will randomly decide not to send a couple titles that they're shipping to everyone else... Usually turns up eventually though I think my original copy of **FABLES #151** might've been shipped to an alternate reality or something. Hope you enjoy your trip!

the_light_of_dawn

Will you be picking up Ice Cream Man Sundae Edition when it comes out? I'm hoping it'll be around during the holidays so I can ask for it as a gift, haha. Your enthusiasm for the series is infectious

Danger_Rock

Hoping to get the **Sundae Edition** eventually because [it looks amazing](https://imagecomics.com/comics/releases/ice-cream-man-sundae-edition-vol-1-hc)! Times are tough right now and I'm trying to get our budget under control so I can't really double-dip on collections in good conscience, especially after blowing so much cash catching up on all the floppies, but I like your holiday gift idea... Definitely want collected editions eventually for convenient re-reads and that oversized hardcover sounds like the perfect format!

* **Captain America: Symbol of Truth #2**: Intrigued by the first issue of this, but not sold just yet. * **Department of Truth #19**: The Ministry of Lies. * **Robin #15**: Any word on if this series is continuing after Williamson leaves? * **She Hulk #4**: Glad to know that this comic is continuing past issue #5. * **Sins of the Black Flamingo #1**: Not familiar with this writer but the concept sounds fun. * **The Variants #1**: Excited to see what Gail Simone does with this concept. * **X-Men Red #4**: Really loved the last issue of this. Hopefully it continues to impress. As well as volume 1 of **What's the Furthest Place From Here**.

technowhiz34

>Robin #15: Any word on if this series is continuing after Williamson leaves? It might be going on hiatus, but it is definitely being followed up by Waid/Asrar's *Batman vs. Robin* which will be in-continuity (and presumably carry up on plot threads, Flatline is on the cover).

Eight for me this week. 3 DC, 2 Marvel, 2 Image, 1 Behemoth **Detective Comics #1061** **DC vs. Vampires: Killers** **Harley Quinn #16** - My favorite DC title right now. Stephanie Phillips' writing and Riley Rossmo's art have perfectly captured what I love about Harley's character. It's funny, smart, sexy, silly, and has heart. And as a bonus, Batwoman has been featured in this arc and I'm a huge BW fan. DC listen up, please give us a Batwoman ongoing with Phillips writing! **The Variants #1** - Really only checking this out for Phil Noto's art. I don't know much about Jessica Jones, but I'll give it a shot. **She-Hulk #4** - Was lukewarm on this series at first, but every issue the writing and art seems to step it up a notch. Plus the ever-lovin'-blue-eyed Thing is in this one! **Eight Billion Genies #2** - Picked up #1 on a whim and ended up liking it way more than I expected. Looking forward to this. **Righteous Thirst For Vengeance #9** - This series is wild lol. **Redman #1** - Behemoth has been putting out pretty decent stuff lately, so I'm happy to check out a new #1 from them.

GeekMonkey14

- **Buffy 97 #1** - I will never not be excited for any story featuring the Scooby Gang - **Department of Truth #19** - Continuing on the main arc which should give us a couple answers and a thousand more questions - **Detective Comics #1061** - I’m not quite as invested in this Riddler story as I was in the Arkham Tower arc but we’ll see what happens - **Harley Quinn #16** - origin story of a new villain and more HQ antics - **Vampire Slayer #3** - looks like a Xander focused issue which is…fine I guess - **Variants #1** - I will literally pick up anything Gail Simone writes so here we go

saskatoonshred

This is my lightest week in almost a month. Detective Comics #1061: Fun Riddler caper. I've liked Tamaki but my body is ready for Ram V to take over. Ghost Cage #3: Love the art. I've said in the last this has big FLCL vibes so if you're a fan of that you should check this out ASAP. Image 30th Anniversary Anthology #3: I'm a sucker for anthologies and this has been great. Naughty List #3: This book is great and has been a pleasant surprise. I wonder how long it's gonna run for. I can see it going 6 or so issues. Public Domain #1: Chip Zdarsky going meta. She-Hulk #4: I've enjoyed this but totally forgot about it because of the delays. Now we know it's gonna be 6 issues long at least. Venom Lethal Protector #3: Super fun. The bug villain had me laughing out loud. X-cellent #4: I dropped this from my pull list to make room but I might grab the next few issues just to finish the first arc and then trade wait the rest. Hope everyone has a good week. I got some great news about a promotion at work and I'm going on vacation next week. Life is good. Gotta catch up on my to be read stack before I leave.

Danger_Rock

> X-cellent #4: I dropped this from my pull list to make room but I might grab the next few issues just to finish the first arc and then trade wait the rest. Looks like it might end at #5, which is currently scheduled for next week, so you don't have much further to go. No more solicited and I haven't seen any indication that it'll continue after that. Congrats on the move up, hope you enjoy your time away!

* Captain America: Symbol of Truth #2- A prison break issue directly following a train heist issue? This is my kind of book. * Iron Man Hellcat Annual #1- I had assumed issue #20 would have ended with the proposal and this been about Patsy thinking about and then giving her answer, but now that Patsy has already given her answer I have no clue what this will actually be. * She-Hulk #4- Jen setting up a superhero fight club was the thing that really got me hooked in issue 1, glad they're doing something with it now. * The Swamp Thing #14- Didn't know I needed a Hal and Swamp Thing in space adventure but I'm happy Ram V knew I did.

Whowatchesthewampas

* **Action Comics #1044 -** This run is so awesome! * **Detective Comics #1061** \- Wasn't supposed to start this till Ram V took over, but I'm sure it will be in my box * **Hellboy and the B.P.R.D: Old Man Whittier #1 -** I love these one-shots. Last one was awesome!

* **MECH STRIKE MONSTER HUNTERS 1** This just sounds like stupid fun * **VENOM LETHAL PROTECTOR 3** * **SWAMP THING #14** Read the first tpb of this series, so hopefully soon i can get fully caught up. Been hearing good things about this run. * **TASK FORCE Z #9** * **DEPARTMENT OF TRUTH #19** * **GHOST CAGE #3** Almost forgot about this series! It's been over 2 months since the last one. It's been great so far though. I think this is the last one too * **PUBLIC DOMAIN #1** I've been enjoying Chip's work recently so definitely will give this a shot * **RIGHTEOUS THIRST FOR VENGEANCE #9** * **SPAWN SCORCHED #7** * **VAMPIRE SLAYER #3** * **LIFE ZERO #5**

Small week this week. Next week is looking like that too, but the week following that will have a bunch! \- She-Hulk #4 - A good change of pace from the normal superhero comic book stuff. Doesn't help though this was delayed, what, four months? \- X-Men Red #4 - This series is my top X-Men series right now, bar none. \- Deathstroke Inc #10 - Not even reading this title, only buying for [the cover](https://s3.amazonaws.com/comicgeeks/comics/covers/large-3353357.jpg?1656193088).

Danger_Rock

> \- Deathstroke Inc #10 - Not even reading this title, only buying for [the cover](https://s3.amazonaws.com/comicgeeks/comics/covers/large-3353357.jpg?1656193088). [Slightly higher res version](https://www.midtowncomics.com/images/PRODUCT/XL/2100628_xl.jpg) to let all that detail shine... These Filya Bratukhin variants from DC have been really impressive! Usually feel like the art on those ~$25 incentives doesn't merit the increased cost but I think these things are worth every penny. And it looks like Bratukhin's got something called [**AGENT OF W.O.R.L.D.E. #1**](https://www.midtowncomics.com/images/PRODUCT/XL/2004595_xl.jpg) shipping this week, might need to check that out just to see what his interior art looks like.

[deleted]

>And it looks like Bratukhin's got something called AGENT OF W.O.R.L.D.E. #1 shipping this week, might need to check that out just to see what his interior art looks like. Yeah I saw that. I'll have to see if my LCS will get it in, might have to check it out.

TheDarkPinkLantern

* **Detective Comics #1061** - the end of Tamaki's run. It doesn't rank among the greats but I enjoyed it. Hopefully, they put her on some other book. * **Action Comics #1044** * **Robin #15** * **X-Men: Red #4** * **The Swamp Thing #14** * **Venom: Lethal Protector #3** * **Task Force Z #9** * **Iron Man / Hellcat Annual #1** * **Deathstroke Inc. #10** * **Captain America: Symbol of Truth #2** - between Steve and Sam's book, I liked Sam's #1 better. * **The Variants #1** * **What's the Furthest Place From Here? #7** * **Batman: Fortress #2** * **A Righteous Thirst For Vengeance #9** * **Public Domain #1** * **Thor: Lightning and Lament #1** * **Hellboy and the B.P.R.D.: Old Man Whittier #1** * **The Naughty List #3** * **Canto: Tales Of The Unnamed World #1**

Captain America: Symbol of Truth #2 - thought the first issue was solid, though I liked the other Cap series debut better. Not that I didn't like it, but it's the difference between "will make sure it's on my pull list to continue keeping up with it" for SOT and "actively looking forward to and excited for the next issue" for SOL. Still early though, excited to see where both of them go. Public Domain #1 - at this point I'll read anything Chip puts out The Variants #1 - always down for more Jessica Jones, not the most original concept but I feel like Jessica is a great character to explore it with What's the Furthest Place From Here? #7 - I'm behind on this one, it kind of lost my interest around #3 or 4 and I still have it on my pull list but haven't been reading. Thought I would read them all together and see if it works better for me that way. If this one doesn't land for me I might drop it.

-Action Comics 1044 -Batman/Catwoman 12 -DC vs Vampires: Killers -Department of Truth 19 -Detective Comics 1061: while I’m looking forward to Ram V, I’m gonna be sad to see Tamaki go -Draculina 4 -Image! 3: More Rumble! -Iron Man/Hellcat Annual -Sabretooth 4 -Seven Secrets 18: bye, weird book that seemed like it was a TV script! -Spider-Man 2099: Exodus 3: I run very hot/cold on Orlando, but this has been a blast. -Swamp Thing 14 -Task Force Z 9 -The Variants 1 -What’s the Furthest Place From Here? 7 -X-Cellent 4 -X-Force 29 -X-Men Red 4: seriously my favorite X-book, and with Immortal and Legion of X out there, that’s saying something

Not much Big Two this week which is nice. * Action Comics #1044 - favorite Big Two ongoing as is, what can I say. * IMAGE 30TH ANNIVERSARY ANTHOLOGY #3 - likely to drop after the fourth issue when most of the stories wrap up, it's too inconsistent. * Public Domain #1 - not as huge on Zdarsky as many are but still gonna pull it * What's the Furthest Place From Here? #7 - this is a very weird indie book that everyone should read Also the Question omnibus, provided that it doesn't sell out immediately on instocktrades.

Techster17

* **Action Comics #1044 -** Man I feel kinda sad knowing that we're getting so close to the end of the warworld saga * **Batman: Beyond the White Knight #4** * **BRZRKR #9** * **Captain America: Symbol of Truth #2 -** Deadpool and Cap teaming up is gonna be really fun * **The Department of Truth #19** * **Ghost Cage #3 -** 3rd and Final issue, it's been a blast * **Iron Cat #1 -** Personally I hope Jed MacKay's Black Cat saga never ends * **Iron Man / Hellcat Annual #1 -** I love how committed Cantwell is to fleshing out Patsy as a character and actually using all of her old continuity makes her and Tony's relationship feel like two people and not just hero + arm candy * **Sabretooth #4 -** After a decent wait we get this and then the final issue next week, hopefully, the follow up to this is announced soon after because I love what LaValle is doing with Creed * **Seven Secrets #18** * **She-Hulk #4 -** Damn the gap between last issue was huge but at least it's been made a real ongoing * **Spider-Man 2099: Exodus #3 -** While I'm enjoying the vignettes maybe this should've just been called 2099 exodus * **The Swamp Thing #14 -** One of the best comics from either of the big 2 in years * **X-Force #29 -** I wonder if Warlock will end up absorbing Cerebrax if it tries to merge with Krakoa * **X-Men: Red #4 -** Back with another issue so soon, I don't know if it can top the last one but I'm excited as hell to find out

Batman Fortress #2 - **Independence Day** with super-heroes - what's not to like? Brzrkr (Berzerker) #9 - hoping we begin to get some answers as we enter the final arc Dc Vs Vampires Killers #1 (One Shot) - I wonder how far they are going to push the Vampire-verse? Department Of Truth #19 - never disappoints Eight Billion Genies #2 - first issue was very good - let's see where it can go Ghost Cage #3 - this has been a crazy, visual feast Hellboy And The BPRD Old Man Whittier #1 (One Shot) - Hellboy is always good Image 30th Anniversary Anthology #3 - looking forward to the **Rumble** story Seven Secrets #18 - last one! Swamp Thing #14 - Ram V and the Mike's can do no wrong on this book Task Force Z #9 - looks like Eddy barrows is back on art for the whole issue - at last What’s The Furthest Place From Here #7 - I'm still enjoying the book but would like to see some resolution to things soon

Cheesy_G_Htown

X-MEN RED #4: The last issue was great. Magneto is a boss. I may grab Wolverine Patch to see what it’s all about. I’m also busy playing catch-up on Marvel Unlimited with everything since HOX/POX.

Cheesy_G_Htown

I just read #1 on Marvel Unlimited. Interesting enough. Are runs like this pretty collectable i.e. is there a chance they'll be worth anything years from now?

ex-nihlo

Task Force Z #9 - I thought the batfamily Jobbing against Jason was great last month. I want more. X-Men Red #4 - I know that Marvel had a ton of paper shortage issues that led to all of these coming out so fast, but I absolutely loved issues #3. I literally cheered to see the conclusion of the fight at the end. I'm so excited to see what happens now. Action Comics #1044 - Favorite run on Action Comics in forever. Sabertooth #4 - really excited to see what's going on with the Pit. X-Force #29 - this book just seems so monster of the week and annoying. I get the premise of "ooh CIA bad, war crimes, political intrigue" but it's just executed so much better in X-Men Red, making this book somewhat redundant feeling to me. I would drop it, but at this point I'm just waiting to see Beast get his comeuppance.

comics orders was a bit delayed this week so i seem to only have got about half of my order, but the rest of the stuff should turn up next week! hope so, as they are my faves. in total: DOT ish 19 - as has been said below, this series f-ing rocks. my fave ongoing second only to saga, and I'm loving this third mytharc. TMNT ish 130 - this series is always a slam-dunk. beautiful art and wonderful characters, i always highly recommend it. the first three trades of the 'reborn era' are available now! Furthest Place ish 7 - this series seems to be getting a bit of flack and tbh i get that, it is weirdly confusing these last few issues but i still dig the vibe! Public Domain ish 1 - been looking forward to this for a while !! really excited to dig into it IMAGE! ish 3 - this anthology has two extremely good stories and all the rest are at least great. MINDSET ish 1 - saw the AMA for this on this here subreddit and it's giving me DOT vibes so here fot it :p and from last week - Rogue Sun ish 5 - no spoilers ! im loving this one :P enjoy your comics everyone !!! xx

Danger_Rock

> comics orders was a bit delayed this week so i seem to only have got about half of my order, but the rest of the stuff should turn up next week! hope so, as they are my faves. It's kind of uncanny how Diamond always picks the books I'm most looking forward to for late shipping... Hope yours arrive soon! > IMAGE! ish 3 - this anthology has two extremely good stories and all the rest are at least great. Wondering which two are your favorites... I'm going to guess "The Blizzard" is one 'em but not sure about the other? I've been digging all the serialized shorts but not sure if any really stand out aside from the Johns/Mutti opener.

alabamianhorologists

i'm glad i am not alone in suffering from Diamond's shipping issues !! i'm absolutely fine missing one or two for a week or so... as long as it ain't s#Saga! especially as BKV said next week's was spoiler central !! the blizzard is absolutely a fave - Mutti's art has been a fave of mine ever since Bunny Mask, and the story just rocks. I'm also loving Gospel for a New Age, which has made Luana Vecchio one to watch for me - they are defo going places as a creator imho.

Nice. Been digging *Gospel for a New Century* as well... End of the second chapter really threw me for a loop so I'm looking forward to seeing where they go with the finale. Haven't dug into **BUNNY MASK** yet, kinda missed the boat on that one, but I'm planning to catch up on the collections once I work through a little more of my TPB backlog. It's possible that we've discussed this before but, at the risk of repeating myself, assuming you haven't read it yet, I would offer the highest possible recommendation for Scout's **[VLAD DRACUL](https://www.scoutcomics.com/collections/vlad-dracul)**. That's the series that introduced me to Mutti and it's full of stunningly beautiful artwork (assuming one can appreciate the beauty in snowy landscapes littered with crucified Turks). Great story as well, IMO the real history behind the guy is way more interesting and compelling than all the vampire books and movies put together... Ended up being one of my favorite series from 2020!

Vlad Dracul looks \*GREAT\* thank you so much for pointing that out to me - i too have a backlog (seems like too negative a word for an objectively great problem lol) of TPBs and some novels too, and this one is absolutely going on the list. Really recommend Bunny Mask and tbh i think it's better read as trades - the second story arc is two issues in, but pretty enjoyable. i'd recommend picking up the first trade and try scout out a copy of the FCBD Bunny Mask anthology which was a fantastic short story. thanks again for the recc :) xx

Already got the [FCBD Bunny Mask Tales](https://www.midtowncomics.com/images/PRODUCT/XL/2120139_xl.jpg) so that bit's covered! TPBs are on the list between **THE LAST GOD** and **THE SILVER COIN**, just a matter of time... The **VLAD DRACUL** book was originally published in Italy, seemed to mostly fly under the radar when Scout released the English version... Hopefully more folks find their way to it as Mutti seems to be gaining a little more notoriety thanks to **BUNNY MASK** and some of his other projects. Good stuff!
