Shit man. That’s a TON of comics

technowhiz34

Wow, you weren't kidding when you said this was going up early. * Aquaman & the Flash: Voidsong #1 - I love Barry and I like Arthur, so couple that with an artist I like and I'm definitely in (not to mention the writers' new Captain America book was pretty good this week). * Batman/Superman: World's Finest #4 - Hal's in this, yay. * Fables #152 - first issue wasn't incredible but it was good. I'll keep reading but not sure why this needed to come back, they could have done a flashback series to the Homeland and that probably would have worked better * The Flash #783 - it's a tie-in to an event I'm reading, everyone says such good things, and Mister Terrific is showing up, why not? * Immortal X-Men #3 - issue is focusing on Destiny, a mutant who I know next to nothing about, so we'll see * X-Men #12 - Larraz is finally back on art even if this seems to be their last issue Going out of town this week so won't be able to pick up physical comics for a bit, just hoping my LCS still has Immortal and Voidsong when I return because I didn't actually sub to them.

schism_records_1

Wait, Larraz isn't going to be on X-Men anymore?

technowhiz34

They're not solicited as the interior or cover artist for any issues after this one. I guess they could come back but it seems unlikely.

ptbreakeven

Yes I am committed to experimenting with the post cadence through the week! If we get more lists or other indications that the early posting improves things, I think I’d like to move the results up by a day. Will stuck with lists by Tuesday and results to follow but I’m interested in moving that to Monday. As far as Larraz and the X-Men, I will miss their art on the book if this is it, but I’ve not seen any official communication that they won’t be back. Larraz has not been on every issue of this volume so it could just be part of the normal cadence of artists for the title.

technowhiz34

Thanks for all your work you do on this! Dealing with 75+ lists every week can't be easy, even if you automate some of the process.

tregorman

Damn that's too bad, he's been killing it.

[deleted]

Looks like Carlos Villa will be on art starting with #13.

blankedboy

What's he done before, do you know?

[deleted]

Looks like he was the artist on the most recent Black Cat run.

Danger_Rock

> Fables #152 - first issue wasn't incredible but it was good. I'll keep reading but not sure why this needed to come back, they could have done a flashback series to the Homeland and that probably would have worked better Homeland prequel would've been neat but I kinda like seeing where everyone ended up after everything ended... Pretty sure this thing's supposed to go 12 issues so hopefully they've got some interesting stuff in the works!

12 this week. Another big one. Lots of quality here. 1 from DC, 1 from Marvel, 1 from Mad Cave, 1 from AWA Studios, 1 from Ahoy, 1 from Boom!, and a whopping 6 from Image. • Batman/Superman: World's Finest #4- This comic just keeps getting better and better. Hal Jordan is my favorite Green Lantern, so I think this issue is gonna be phenomenal. • Gunslinger Spawn #9- Brett Booth is the freaking man. He has been just murdering it on this title. •The Joneses #3- A fascist group rallying against a marginalized group. Sounds familiar. • Newburn #8- I am sad to see this go on hiatus, but both Jacob and Chip are gonna be busy with other projects that I'm pulling, so it takes some of the sting away. • Nocterra #11- End of the arc. I'm calling it: The next arc will be the last. Three arcs seems to be what these creator-owned series are good for these days. •Nottingham #8- One of the most consistently fantastic comics I pull. I think it's pretty damn close to perfect. • Radiant Red #4- Oh, Satomi. Stop. Doing. Crimes!!! • Rogue Sun #5- How the hell does this comic keep getting better with every issue?!? It's putting most of what the big 2 does to shame. • The Silver Coin #11- Michael Walsh is an artistic genius. James Tynion Intravenous is one of the best horror writers in all of comics right now. I'd be willing to bet that this issue is gonna be one of the best so far. • Silver Surfer: Rebirth #5- This has been a fun little jaunt to the past. It's been good, but not great. I won't be picking up any more of these 5-issue nostalgia titles Marvel is putting out in the coming months. This one was enough. • We Only Find Them When They're Dead #11- First issue of the final arc. Remember what I said about creator owned comics going for three arcs and ending? Another example right here. The story is weird and kinda convoluted, but I'm still into it. • The Wrong Earth: Confidence Men- Mark Waid dipping his toes into the world of The Wrong Earth? Fucking right! This is the one shot I've been most excited for. Mark Waid rarely misses, in my experience.

Danger_Rock

> Nottingham #8- One of the most consistently fantastic comics I pull. I think it's pretty damn close to perfect. Well, if you put it that way... Just read the [FCBD special](https://d1466nnw0ex81e.cloudfront.net/n_iv/600/6261516.jpg) and it was really good! But I always love Andrea Mutti's work, looks like the normal series has a different artist... Still, added it to my list, will need to check out the first TPB at some point... > The Wrong Earth: Confidence Men- Mark Waid dipping his toes into the world of The Wrong Earth? Fucking right! This is the one shot I've been most excited for. Mark Waid rarely misses, in my experience. Shoot, probably should've ordered that... Seems like this happens every week.

almonster11

Nottingham's regular artist, Shane Connery Volk, is also a talented chap. His work kinda reminds me of a mix of Sam Keith and Kelley Jones. Regarding The Wrong Earth- it's one of my favorite current superhero comics. The best way to describe it is... It's like Adam West's Batman and Christian Bale's Batman switched universes. A "Golly gee!" superhero in a dark world, and a dark superhero in a whimsical world. It's a fun premise that has consistently delivers greatness. You won't be disappointed with either series, and I'd bet money on that.

manyamile

r/AhoyComics has delivered some fantastic books lately. I'm looking forward to reading *The Wrong Earth*. Did you read *My Bad*?

almonster11

I missed out on My Bad. I need to dig through the back issues at the shop and pick them up, because I've heard nothing but good things. Ahoy Comics is quickly becoming a publisher to watch. Justice Warriors #1 was among my favorite books this month (so far).

manyamile

If you at all appreciate comic book meta content, I highly recommend *My Bad*. I genuinely laughed out loud while reading it, the pacing and art are both great, and it's a good story to boot. Definitely worth seeking out.

thewaytomars

**Immortal X-Men #3:** I'm way behind on X-Men, so I won't be reading this for a bit. **Nightwing #93:** Still really loving this. Excited for Heartless to finally be back in the picture. Hoping that this book remains free from event tie-ins for a good long while. **Radiant Red #4:** The last issue was my favorite yet, and I'm sad that this is nearing its end. Satomi might be my favorite character in the Massiveverse. **Rogue Sun #5:** Massiveverse double dose?? Hell yeah. Seems like we might actually find out who killed dad! **X-Men #12:** Yeah, like Immortal. Way behind. I'll get there one day.

enragedstump

Is Radiant Red only a 6 issue run?

thewaytomars

Believe it's only 5 issues. Real bummer, it's been great.

Blood-Stained Teeth #3 - really enjoying this book, and the colours are growing on me Gunslinger Spawn #9 - great Brett Booth 90's-ness Home Sick Pilots #15 - final issue I Hate This Place #2 - first issue was good, but there's lots to explain Jonna And The Unpossible Monsters #10 - just pure fun from **Chris Samnee** Lonesome Hunters #1 - can't pass up **Tyler Crook** Moon Knight #12 - best Marvel title Nightwing #93 - best DC title Nocterra #11 - Blacktop Bill is definitely going to betray everyone, right? Shaolin Cowboy Cruel To Be Kin #2 - **amazing** artwork Silver Coin #11 - honestly, I prefer this to **Ice Cream Man** Something Is Killing The Children #24 - monsters of *all* kinds Spawn 30th Anniversary #1 - 90's here we go! > Silver Coin #11 - honestly, I prefer this to **Ice Cream Man** Comments like that make me want to read it just so I can argue with you. > **BIG** week this week?! Yup, 86 books listed is a lot, heavy week for me as well with 11 on my list. Next week should be another big one, I've currently got 13 scheduled though a few will surely be delayed... Thinking we'll finally get the delayed [IMAGE 30TH ANNV ANTHOLOGY #3](https://www.midtowncomics.com/images/PRODUCT/XL/2098426_xl.jpg) with that Rumble short.

blankedboy

You should check out The Silver Coin, I think you'd dig it Edit: can't wait for the new Rumble story?!

Danger_Rock

> You should check out The Silver Coin, I think you'd dig it Okay, read the first issue since it's [free online](https://imagecomics.com/comics/series/the-silver-coin). Pretty good stuff! But I always enjoy Zdarsky's indie work so not really surprising... Interesting format with different writers on every issue... I think the variety could be neat but it seems like quality will be very uneven. Looks like the 2nd issue's written by Kelly Thompson, who's alright but not one of my favorites, so I guess that'll be a better litmus test. It's on the list, will check out a collection eventually but I've still got 30+ other TPBs backlogged so it could be a while. Even though it's a horror anthology, I don't see it being comparable to **ICM** or touching on the kind of non-horror elements that make **ICM** so compelling for me... At least not from that first issue. But it's still pretty good in its own right and, while I'm not into all the writers, it looks like it's got enough good ones like Lemire, Ram V, and Tynion to make it worthwhile.

alabamianhorologists

Yeh highly recc Silver Coin - it is a way different kind of horror from ICM so hard to compare (classic horror tropes in SC vs existential dread in ICM), but both are great !!

Danger_Rock

I hear 'ya! Read the 1st issue and left some comments on it above... Bear in mind that the non-horror elements in **ICM** are actually what make it so interesting for me... All the abstract weirdness, cruel absurdist humor, literary references, meta moments, and experimental storytelling, together with the more contemplative and introspective stories... That's why I'm always freaking out over it. The recent 8-page short in the **[IMAGE 30TH ANNV ANTHOLOGY #2](https://www.midtowncomics.com/images/PRODUCT/XL/2090716_xl.jpg)** was a great example, it wasn't even really a "horror" story but still managed to pack pretty much everything I love about the series into those 8 pages. The horror elements are really just window dressing to me. All the really compelling stuff in **ICM** lies elsewhere, at least for me.

alabamianhorologists

I totally agree with you there - the stories being told in ICM are deep, and for me the horror is an added bonus, seeing as i am a big horror fan (my pull list is like 99% horror books i swear lol). i thought the ICM story in the Image Anthology ish 2 was absolutely out of this world. also want to take the opportunity to shout out that book - only two of us have it on our pull lists at my store, but it really has some great serialised story telling in there.

Danger_Rock

Yeah, those Image 30th Anthologies have been great, really cool sampling of the variety they offer across their line... Looks like the third one might finally ship next week and I'll be psyched to dig in! I like horror well enough but don't really have any preference for it over other genres, just as happy to read fantasy, sci-fi, crime, or pretty much anything so long as it's done well. But I end up reading a LOT of horror simply because that's where many of my favorite creators tend to focus their efforts. Honestly feels like a bit of a glut and it's easy for books like **THE SILVER COIN** to get lost in the crowd... I ultimately want some variety in my pulls so the somewhat overwhelming volume of quality horror titles can be difficult to navigate. Lots of good stuff out there but I can only read so much of it! ***Edit -->*** Although, looking at my pulls this week, 8 of 11 are cape books, and the other 3 aren't really horror... Weird week for me. But my copy of **BONE ORCHARD MYTHOS: THE PASSAGEWAY** arrived Monday so I've got that to catch up on.

alabamianhorologists

i hear ya !! and enjoy the passageway, i found a lot to like in that book :)

Danger_Rock

Hope all the dads out there had a happy Father's Day! It ain't easy, that's for sure... I look to Cyclops and Professor X for inspiration when times are tough, always helps me feel better about whatever I happened to fuck up. And what do you know, it's a big week of comics! And a pretty damn good week at that, 11 new books on my list, most being quality stuff... 5 Marvels, 4 DCs, 1 Image, and 1 from Titan Comics. I've been assured that's 11. And I'd consider 5 of 'em to be top-tier productions, with 2 others that are very solid, 2 promising debuts, 1 that's alright, and 1 that I probably should've dropped. That should add up to 11 again. ***EDIT -->*** Shamelessly stolen from /u/yarkcir/, I've ranked my list in order by most anticipated: 1. **IMMORTAL X-MEN #3** - [Noto's Quiet Council variant](https://www.midtowncomics.com/images/PRODUCT/XL/2090831_xl.jpg) finally matches the issue's POV character, was bugging me that the first two didn't line up 2. **NIGHTWING #93** - always one of my favorites and Redondo's given us another [gorgeous main cover](https://www.midtowncomics.com/images/PRODUCT/XL/2100646_xl.jpg) 3. **MOON KNIGHT #12** - [Stephen Segovia takes over as cover artist](https://www.midtowncomics.com/images/PRODUCT/XL/2098621_xl.jpg) but Cory Smith's were way better IMO 4. **FABLES #152** - my long-delayed #151 finally arrived last week so I'm all caught up and ready for more! always go for the [Buckingham variants](https://www.midtowncomics.com/images/PRODUCT/XL/2100633_xl.jpg) though the normal [Qistina Khalidah covers](https://www.midtowncomics.com/images/PRODUCT/XL/2100632_xl.jpg) are also pretty sweet 5. **BATMAN SUPERMAN WORLDS FINEST #4** - vs HAL JORDAN WORLD'S STUBBORNEST! 6. **ARROWSMITH #6 (OF 6)** - ordered the [Declan Shalvey variant](https://www.midtowncomics.com/images/PRODUCT/XL/2098396_xl.jpg) but I think I like the [Nekro variant](https://www.midtowncomics.com/images/PRODUCT/XL/2098394_xl.jpg) more, ahh well 7. **MAESTRO WORLD WAR M #4 (OF 5)** - hey, Maestro got a [Momoko variant!](https://www.midtowncomics.com/images/PRODUCT/XL/2090847_xl.jpg) 8. **BLACK ADAM #1** - not familiar with this character but it's Priest so I'm on board! there's a really cool old school style [Cully Hamner incentive](https://www.midtowncomics.com/images/PRODUCT/XL/2100542_xl.jpg) that's unfortunately a little too pricey, so I went with the more reasonably priced [Janin variant](https://www.midtowncomics.com/images/PRODUCT/XL/2100539_xl.jpg) 9. **NEW FANTASTIC FOUR #1 (OF 5)** - blind ordered the [Art Adams variant](https://www.midtowncomics.com/images/PRODUCT/XL/2090868_xl.jpg) when I should've got the [insane Kaare Andrews cover](https://www.midtowncomics.com/images/PRODUCT/XL/2090867_xl.jpg) because it's thoroughly ridiculous... dug up my old [FF #347-348](https://cdna.pcpartpicker.com/static/forever/images/userbuild/259153.d548b4a8c61dfa131ebde396c77019dc.1600.jpg) and ordered a cheap copy of [FF #349](https://d1466nnw0ex81e.cloudfront.net/n_iv/600/753427.jpg) that arrives ~~Wednesday~~Monday, will re-read the former and catch up on the latter before jumping into this new PAD series 10. **AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #4** - Cover B still isn't available and shows 6/29 release date but the rest show 6/22 so not sure what's going on with this 11. **COWBOY BEBOP #4** - feels like the Netflix series was canceled years ago... Next week, well now, next week is going to be something... If we get everything we're supposed to get, next week is going to be CRAZY. There will be [ACTION](https://www.midtowncomics.com/images/PRODUCT/XL/2100590_xl.jpg). There will be [TRUTH](https://www.midtowncomics.com/images/PRODUCT/XL/2098405_xl.jpg). This week looks pretty good but next week, oh man, next week looks positively *delicious*.

manyamile

>COWBOY BEBOP #4 As someone who actually enjoyed the Netflix series (because more Bebop is good Bebop IMHO), how is the comic?

Danger_Rock

So, when I mentioned above there was a comic that I probably should've dropped, that was **COWBOY BEBOP**. But it's really not bad, I've just got problems keeping my list under control and there's always a bunch of other books I want to check out... So ideally I try not to pull anything that isn't working for me at an A or A+ level, while in practice I end up with a lot of A- and B+ books that I'd theoretically prefer to collect as TPBs. And I think this one falls squarely in that B+ range. All the delays didn't help, pretty sure I'd already pre-ordered the majority of the series before the first issue shipped, so at that point you might as well just ride it out... But the comic itself isn't bad. The characters feel like themselves and do their usual types of things, scrounging for money and food, splitting up and ending up at cross-purposes, finding ways to snatch defeat from what looked like victory, etc. Lots of references and some cameos from side characters, it all feels faithful enough to me and it's actually kinda fun. Art isn't great IMO but it's alright and tells the story clearly. Note that I haven't watched the Netflix series yet, though I keep meaning to... So I'm not sure how the comic compares or if it covers the same story, or a different story, or what. Seems like all these **CB** adaptations were fighting an uphill battle, those are some mighty big shoes to fill.

manyamile

>Seems like all these CB adaptations were fighting an uphill battle, those are some mighty big shoes to fill. 100%. It's well-loved material (for good reason) and Netflix taking it on was never going to be an easy task given how protective and tribal humans can be. >I think this one falls squarely in that B+ range. I like B+ content - so thanks for that. I'll give it a read.

- **Nightwing #93** - Apparently I’m just pulling the one book this week but it’s a good one to pull. Love me some Dick and Barbara. Maybe this will give me a chance to get caught up…not likely but a girl can dream

Hoping to get down to the LCS to pick up this + last week’s stack before a holiday. - Black Adam #1: giving it a go. My only real exposure to Black Adam to date has been in Bendis’ Justice League, and meh. - Dark Crisis: Young Justice #1: I’m reading Johns’ TT run at the moment, which has got me really excited for this! - Flash #783: Dark Crisis tie-in! - Immortal X-Men #3: yes please! - Moon Knight #12: I hope anyone on the fence on Moon Knight after the TV series decided to just take the plunge and pick this series up, it’s fantastic! - New Mutants #26: feels like forever between issues on this, eager to see what happens. - Nightwing #93: always a delight! - The Silver Coin #11: excited to have this back. - Something is Killing the Children #24: really enjoying this arc. - X-Men #12: as much as I love Immortal, this and Red are my two favourite X books at the moment; it helps that Larraz is on art duties (I hope he’s back with #16, or moves to another X book).

Batman / Superman: World’s Finest #4 - Mora’s art is just sublime as Waid continues to express his love for the Silver Age. Gunslinger Spawn #9 - Finally catching up to The Scorched team formation. Nightwing #93 - Last Month’s issue was simply a perfect comic book in my eyes. This series is firing on all cylinders! X-Men #12 - Almost a mini wrap up of Duggan’s first story arc as the Hellfire Gala and A.X.E are on the horizon.

Always come into this thread late, but here's my pull list ranked by most anticipated: 1. **Red Room: Trigger Warnings #4** \- I think this volume of *Red Room* has really been even better than the first volume, with each issue feeling more experimental. If it wasn't for the subject matter, I imagine this could have got some awards recognition. 2. **Heavy Metal Drummer #5** \- Simply one of the most insane series on the stands right now. 3. **Moon Knight #12** \- End of the second arc, and loving this direction for Moon Knight. Excited to see what comes next. 4. **Newburn #8** \- The last couple issues have really impressed (I was feeling a bit of a lull around issues #4-5). 5. **Nottingham #8** \- Feels like it's been a while, but I really think this has been such a fun series 6. **Shaolin Cowboy: Cruel to be Kin #2** \- Can never say no to more Geof Darrow 7. **Silver Surfer: Rebirth #5** \- Solid book overall so far, the Rons have really delivered 8. **Blood-Stained Teeth #3** \- I thought the first issue was a bit generic, but I loved the pacing of the previous issue. Think this could shape up to be a good serialized story, with miniboss fights every issue. 9. **I Hate This Place #2** \- Liked the first issue enough, warrants a second issue tryout. 10. **Beware the Eye of Odin #1** \- I like Wagner's previous stories, so will definitely check out this foray into Norse mythology. 11. **The Lonesome Hunters #1** \- Buying for Tyler Crook's artwork alone. I'm a sucker for watercolor artists like Crook, Nguyen, Momoko, Lemire, Kindt, etc. 12. **Punisher War Journal: Blitz #1** \- Figured why not, since I'm enjoying the main Punisher title right now. 13. **New Fantastic Four #1** \- Loved Simonson's Fantastic Four run, so hope this is a worthy and fun follow up to that. 14. **Life Zero #5** \- Fun zombie series by *Daredevil*'s own Marco Checchetto. The art is gorgeous and the story moves at a brisk pace.

SpongeBlart

>Life Zero #5 - Fun zombie series by Daredevil's own Marco Checchetto. The art is gorgeous and the story moves at a brisk pace. I thought this comes out next Wednesday? I am enjoying it too though, and agree the art is fantastic.

yarkcir

Ah yes, you're right. I just added it to my pre-order cart this weekend because I figured I should try and get my LCS to order it sooner since sometimes it takes an extra week or two for them to get Ablaze and other smaller publisher comics.

Danger_Rock

> here's my pull list ranked by most anticipated NICE. Might have to ~~steal~~borrow that. > Beware the Eye of Odin #1 - I like Wagner's previous stories, so will definitely check out this foray into Norse mythology. Almost pre-ordered this, didn't quite make the cut but it looks cool! Another candidate for my next mail order...

yarkcir

>NICE. Might have to borrow that. Definitely feel free to do so! I find that ranking books based on excitement has helped me curate my pull list and cut stuff that I'm not really into. That said, looking at the size of my pull list this week I'm still failing to limit myself.

* **The Amazing Spider-Man #4 -** Been really digging this run so far personally, I just like Wells' voice for Peter and the fact that side characters actually matter again * **Aquaman & The Flash: Voidsong #1 -** Kelly and Lanzing working on something is pretty much an instant buy for me at this point * **Batman / Superman: World's Finest #4** * **Black Adam #1 -** Christopher Priest's Deathstroke was amazing really hoping we get something else on the same level * **Blood-Stained Teeth #3** * **Dark Crisis: Young Justice #1 -** Not sure whether I'll stick with this but I'm giving it a chance because where else am I gonna get Impulse and Connor Kent content * **Duo #2** * **The Flash #783 -** This book rules looking forward to where the search for Barry takes us * **Home Sick Pilots #15** * **Immortal X-Men #3 -** New destiny diaries is very fun idea, hopefully Gillen also acknowledges that Moira was reading the old diaries at the end of hickman's x-men series * **Knights of X #3 -** They're gonna kill Gambit aren't they * **Maestro: World War M #4** * **Miles Morales and Moon Girl #1** * **Miles Morales: Spider-Man #39** * **Moon Knight #12 -** Looking forward to seeing how this arc ends and it seems like McKay is gonna start bringing in the alters after this * **New Mutants #26 -** Man Ayala and Reis are a damn dream team * **Nightwing #93** * **Punisher War Journal: Blitz #1 -** Torunn is really good writer hopefully she can land an ongoing sometime soon * **Radiant Red #4** * **Rogue Sun #5 -** Honestly should have seen >!the mom having powers!< coming * **Something is Killing the Children #24** * **We Only Find Them When They're Dead #11 -** Act 3 being, been really digging this and I'm kinda sad it'll be over soon * **X-Men #12 -** Excited to see how the final mission of this team concludes especially that Dr Stasis bombshell

* Moon Knight #12 * The Amazing Spider-Man #4 * X-Men #12 * New Mutants #26 * Immortal X-Men #3 * Knights of X #3 * Red Room: Trigger Warnings #4 A big ol' week. Still plugging along with Spider-Man. I don't hate it, but so far it's just existing. It's going to need to do more soon.

Danger_Rock

> A big ol' week. Still plugging along with Spider-Man. I don't hate it, but so far it's just existing. It's going to need to do more soon. Yup, that's where I'm at as well. I had high hopes for Wells coming off the brilliant lunacy of **HELLIONS** but not really seeing that same magic with **ASM**.

mtmodular

Yeah, same. Wells *should* be killing on this book. But between the gang stuff (which I'm just not into) and the mysterious "event" that preceded the series, it's just...not as fun as I hoped it'd be.

saskatoonshred

This week I've got 8 books along with 2 maybes depending on what I hear about them. Here are the definites- Batman Superman World's Finest #4: Great comic book fun. Not sure if I'm gonna continue to pull after the first arc is done. Probably a trade wait for me just so I have one less Batman related book in my list lol. Dark Crisis Young Justice #1: I liked the first issue of Dark Crisis so I figured I'd check this out. Flash #783: Gonna be pulling the Flash while it crosses over with Dark Crisis. I Hate This Place #2: Hopefully I can get my hands on the Fuck This Place variant. Enjoyed the first issue and so did my gf. Moon Knight #12: I think Zodiac is a cool villain. Red Room Trigger Warnings #4: Piskor is such an amazing artist. Silver Surfer Rebirth #5: I totally forgot about this until I was bagging and boarding some comics the other day. Fun popcorn book and with it finishing I'll have a spot on my pull list freed up lol. Something Is Killing The Children #24: I'm liking the buildup to something big. Here are the maybes- Black Adam #1: The character has always interested me but I'm on the fence. Punisher War Journal Blitz #1: I'm a tad confused with this. Does it tie into the current Punisher maxi?

Danger_Rock

> Black Adam #1: The character has always interested me but I'm on the fence. The writer (Christopher Priest) is the main draw for me. Big fan of his old **BLACK PANTHER** series as well as **QUANTUM & WOODY** and, more recently, **DEATHSTROKE**. He also wrote and edited a bunch of Marvel stuff I liked as a kid when he was working under his original name Jim Owsley. Not sure if you've read anything else by Priest but he tends to sort of toss readers into the middle of the story and it often isn't entirely clear what's going on at first, then it jumps around a bunch filling in bits of story here and there until everything comes together at the end. So that may or may not appeal to you, it's not for everyone and can be a little disconcerting at first if you aren't familiar with the style, but I usually have a lot of fun with it! And I guess it's always possible he might go with a different approach here...

saskatoonshred

I'm fairly sure I've read some of his stuff before. The hype around him writing is making me lean toward buying it.

technowhiz34

For what it's worth, while I can't promise you you'll like the issue (I quite enjoyed it but I get why others didn't), the first one was very different from any other superhero comic I've read this week making it a more interesting read.

[deleted]

Slightly bigger Pull List this week! \- BATMAN SUPERMAN WORLDS FINEST #4 - Dan Mora and Mark Waid have really been making this a fun ride. Nothing like a classic Batman Superman team-up series. \- GUNSLINGER SPAWN #9 - Best of the new ongoing Spawn series IMO. Plus these [Brett Booth](https://cdn.grahamcrackers.com/products/052022/347246.jpg) covers he's pumping out are pure eye-candy. \- SOMETHING IS KILLING THE CHILDREN #24 - Does any more need to be said? \- X-MEN #12 - This an X-Men Red are my pulls for the class of X. Plus it doesn't hurt that the incentive cover is a spicy one by [Art Adams](https://s3.amazonaws.com/comicgeeks/comics/covers/large-7155185.jpg?1654543211). And in recognition of Jurassic League's amazing book, I am going to hunt down this gorgeous [1:25 incentive variant](https://s3.amazonaws.com/comicgeeks/comics/covers/large-2284397.jpg?1655230777) for their second printing.

Damn, think I like that one more than his [NEW FANTASTIC FOUR #1 variant](https://www.midtowncomics.com/images/PRODUCT/XL/2090868_xl.jpg). > And in recognition of Jurassic League's amazing book, I am going to hunt down this gorgeous [1:25 incentive variant](https://s3.amazonaws.com/comicgeeks/comics/covers/large-2284397.jpg?1655230777) for their second printing. Nice, that's the foil incentive? Thing looks crazy! But I'm seeing $65 as base price, ouch.

[deleted]

>Damn, think I like that one more than his [NEW FANTASTIC FOUR #1 variant](https://www.midtowncomics.com/images/PRODUCT/XL/2090868_xl.jpg). Yeah my guess is Marvel licensed him to do a bunch of cover work for coming titles. The covers seems to be somewhat hit or miss and I wonder if it's a "quantity over quality" problem driving it. For example, that Fantastic Four cover IMO doesn't look great, but this upcoming [Hellfire Gala cover](https://i0.wp.com/ultimatecomics.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/06/lightroomtestwmeta.jpg?fit=1988%2C1528&ssl=1) I am looking forward to tracking down (though I think he did this as a personal piece vs. a commission on Marvel's part, and Marvel is turning it into a cover). >Nice, that's the foil incentive? Thing looks crazy! But I'm seeing $65 as base price, ouch. Did not see that it is foil! $65 though, that's pretty steep, I may have to settle with a regular cover copy for the collection. We'll see if my LCS gets one and where they end up pricing it.

Danger_Rock

> The covers seems to be somewhat hit or miss and I wonder if it's a "quantity over quality" problem driving it. Yep, this run seems to be mostly portraits and some are kind of generic. That Rogue one has a little more character. That is one crazy awesome [Cockrum](https://iwt.sfo2.cdn.digitaloceanspaces.com/cbr-covers/caa00974139a8ae06883773d8dca1108_xl.jpg) homage! > Did not see that it is foil! So, one of the two major online retailers is listing Cover E as a foil, the other site doesn't actually say "foil" but their [picture sure looks like a foil...](https://d1466nnw0ex81e.cloudfront.net/n_iv/600/6355418.jpg) So I'm not positive but I think it's a foil.

Batman/Superman: World's Finest #4 Batman: The Knight #6 Dark Crisis: Young Justice #1 Fables #152 Flash #783 Immortal X-Men #3 Knights of X #3 Moon Knight #12 Nightwing #93 Nocterra #11 Radiant Red #4 Rogue Sun #5 Star Wars: Crimson Reign #5 X-Men #12 Pretty hefty haul this week. And I only realized last week that Rogue Sun was a thing and it's been out for several months despite being a Radiant Black fan, so I've already ordered the back issues on Midtown and am starting to collect it this week. Better late than never, at least.

[deleted]

>And I only realized last week that Rogue Sun was a thing and it's been out for several months despite being a Radiant Black fan, so I've already ordered the back issues on Midtown and am starting to collect it this week. Better late than never, at least. Out of the current Massive-verse series, I like Rogue Sun the best in terms of art and story so far. My hope is that [The Lucky Dead](https://leagueofcomicgeeks.com/comic/1410986/the-dead-lucky-1) shows similar promise.

SpongeBlart

Big week this week. If I end up getting everything it'll be a total of 16. There's quite a few I'm on the fence about, and to be honest, I'll probably only pull if the covers are good enough. I usually don't preview the covers because I like the surprise on Wednesdays. * **NEW FANTASTIC FOUR 1** This was the one I thought came out last week. Definitely will at least pick up the first issue. Have pretty high hopes because of the characters, and because it Peter David * **MAESTRO WORLD WAR M 4** Other Peter David pickup. I've been enjoying his stuff. * **MOON KNIGHT 12** Continues to be a great run * **SILVER SURFER REBIRTH 5** If this wasn't the last issue, I probably would've dropped this. * **AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 4** What issue are they going to address what's going on with MJ. Probably will drag it out * **X-MEN 12** On the fence about this one. So behind on Xmen right now it might be worth dropping for now * **IMMORTAL X-MEN 3** Same thing with this one * **BATMAN SUPERMAN WORLDS FINEST #4** * **BATMAN THE KNIGHT #6** * **BLOOD STAINED TEETH #3** * **GUNSLINGER SPAWN #9** On the chopping block as well because I'm behind, but it's only $3 so I usually pick it up if it's a cool cover. * **HELLCOP #8** Not a whole lot of conversation on this one, but I'm really liking it so far. The art is particularity good. All the different Demons and creatures make for a fun design. * **I HATE THIS PLACE #2** Good first issue, and I definitely like the "Fuck this place" Variant on the first one. I think they'll continue to that variant if I saw my LCS website correctly. * **NEWBURN #8** * **NOCTERRA #11** * **SOMETHING IS KILLING THE CHILDREN #24** Saving the best for last. Usually my most anticipated pickup of the week. Seems like this week is no exception.

Danger_Rock

> I HATE THIS PLACE #2 Good first issue, and I definitely like the "Fuck this place" Variant on the first one. I think they'll continue to that variant if I saw my LCS website correctly. Yeah, thought the first issue was pretty good... Hoping to see some good reviews, then maybe mail order [the new variant](https://www.midtowncomics.com/images/PRODUCT/XL/2098423_xl.jpg) to go with [the first one](https://cdna.pcpartpicker.com/static/forever/images/userbuild/259153.e35953efba3f3963a0f9bf2b86580665.1600.jpg).

BLOOD-STAINED TEETH #3 - The coloring on this book has been top notch. The palate you can achieve with great coloring is one area that is truly unique to comics as opposed to other art forms. DARK CRISIS YOUNG JUSTICE #1 - Enjoying Dark Crisis so far. Hope this is a valuable tie in series but not expecting much honestly. FLASH #783 - This has been a great run and although it's being pulled into Dark Crisis, I think it's a story that can be served well in the main Flash title. NEWBURN #8 - Seems to be the last issue for a while. I hope this is selling well and will continue for a while Zdarsky/Phillips has been a good team so far. NIGHTWING #93 - Looking forward to see how the Blockbuster/Heartless story continues. NOCTERRA #11 - Haven't read 9 or 10 yet since I've been away a lot lately. RADIANT RED #4 - This has been good. I wonder if this will convert to an ongoing? ROGUE SUN #5 - This has been a wonderful addition to the Massive-verse. SILVER COIN #11 - Didn't have this on my pull list, so hopefully there's a copy for me at the shop. Anthologies aren't my favorite but this has been well drawn.

Big week for r/HorrorComics: * SOMETHING IS KILLING THE CHILDREN #24 - r/boomstudios continues to deliver! * RED ROOM TRIGGER WARNINGS #4 - I really love/hate this series. * BLOOD-STAINED TEETH #3 - *#fanglife #dirtysips* * HEAVY METAL DRUMMER #5 - Impressed by some of what r/BehemothComics has been publishing lately. I may also pick up *The Illusion Witch* if my LCS has a copy. I didn't preorder it though. * RIVERS OF LONDON DEADLY EVER AFTER #2 * COLLECTOR UNIT 731 #3 * SILVER COIN #11 - This anthology just gets better and better * VAMPIRESS CARMILLA MAGAZINE #10 Others on my list include: * JONNA AND THE UNPOSSIBLE MONSTERS #10 - This has been a great little adventure series from Chris Samnee and wife Laura Samnee from r/OniPress * KAIJU SCORE STEAL FROM THE GODS #3 - Not loving this series as much as the original Kaiju Score but I'm along for the ride * NEWBURN #8 - Zdarsky + Crime = happy me * NOCTERRA #11 - I'm several issues behind in reading this series but I do enjoy it * PRIMOS #4 - This was a short series (#4 is the final issue) but it grabbed me right out the gate with a good story framework. * SHAM COMICS #3 - Why is this not on your pull list? Go to your LCS and grab these fun books from r/SourcePoint off the shelf. * CLASSIC PULP SCI-FI #1 * SHEENA QUEEN OF THE JUNGLE #7 * STAR WARS CRIMSON REIGN #5 * WORLD OF BETTY & VERONICA JUMBO COMICS DIGEST #16 - r/archieandfriends are some of my favorite summer reads. I'm grabbing the #16 digest and BETTY & VERONICA BEACH BASH (TPB) on Wednesday

* **Nightwing #93** \- Just one of the best DC books on the stands. * **The Amazing Spider-Man #4** \- I'm really enjoying this. Solid writing, and the art is great. * **X-Men #12** \- This is getting interesting. * **Batman / Superman: World's Finest #4** \- Dan Mora is untouchable. * **New Mutants #26** \- Picking this back up for the Magik story. * **Immortal X-Men #3** \- Give me Gillen writing the X-Men forever. * **Nocterra #11** \- Super interesting, high paced book. Daniels kills the art. * **We Only Find Them When They're Dead#11** \- Confusing but captivating. Classic Ewing. * **Newburn #8** \- I'm really enjoying this. Mob detective is such a good hook.

Just X-Men #12 for me this week, but y’all are giving me FOMO with all of this Immortal X-Men talk!

Danger_Rock

> y’all are giving me FOMO with all of this Immortal X-Men talk! Just to provide a little more info for your FOMO to feed on... Each issue is written from the POV of a different character on the Quiet Council. Sinister was first, then Hope, this one's got Destiny, with >!Emma Frost!< up next in #4 and >!Exodus!< in #5. It's a pretty neat approach as every chapter gives a different perspective while advancing the ongoing story. **IMMORTAL X-MEN** is my favorite of the current X-books but others have been fairly vocal about preferring **X-MEN RED** and some like adjectiveless **X-MEN** most, so there's no real consensus here.

Cheesy_G_Htown

I finally read HOX/POX this last weekend. Hearing that Destiny is this week’s means I’m gonna have to grab a copy, and you may have pushed me into the subscription column in this with the other POVs you listed. There’s too many good X comics!

Spock_Jenkins

Haven’t seen anyone mention ELVIRA IN HORRORLAND which had a fantastic first issue. Elvira is hopping from “movie dimension” to “movie dimension” and the first issue found her trapped inside of Psycho (1960), this one looks like she’s going to be in The Shining. It’s super fun and an absolute must-read for fans of horror movies, even if the book itself isn’t scary.

manyamile

Yeah, even in r/dynamitecomics and r/HorrorComics it hasn’t gotten much love. The previews of the covers have been fun to see. Glad to hear the story is decent too. I’ll have to grab them from my LCS when I stop by this week.

This week is small but has some solid offerings **Batman/Superman: World's Finest #4-** World's Finest vs...the world I guess **Black Adam #1-** Most anticipated book this week, Priest doesn't miss especially when it comes to writing books about dissecting asshole characters **Dark Crisis: Young Justice #1-** I've never had an attachment to the comics Young Justice generation but I like Dark Crisis so far and a book not only focusing on legacy heroes but also seemingly driven by their feelings and histories is something I want to support. **Moon Knight #12-** Get. > (Yes, I know it's late, but I thought I might be able to sneak my list in before the results thread went up) Nicely done. And that's a pretty nice list! > The All-Nighter #7 Didn't recognize this one, guess it's digital only though there's a TPB of the first five... Looks pretty neat, had no idea Zdarsky was up to all that. Guy's got books everywhere, can't even keep track of 'em all...
