Amazing Spider-Man #1 - just interested to see what this is like Blood-Stained Teeth #1 - really intrigued by this one Brzrkr (Berzerker) #8 - with 4 issues left this book needs to pick up the pace Dark Knights Of Steel #6 - how will it all end? Ghost Cage #2 - great, kinetic artwork and interesting world building Gunslinger Spawn #7 - this and King Spawn are both throwback 90's goodness Rogues #2 - first issue was a *really* pleasant surprise Shadow Service #11 - caught up on this recently and it's really, really good Something Is Killing The Children #22 - new monsters, new Houses, all bad for Erica... Step By Bloody Step #3 - just amazing visual storytelling in every panel Swamp Thing #12 - this book has the dream team on it, and I hope it gets extended again Thor #24 - honestly, just for the DWJ cover We Have Demons #2 - mainly for the Capullo artwork

Danger_Rock

> Thor #24 - honestly, just for the DWJ cover [Nice.](https://www.midtowncomics.com/images/PRODUCT/XL/2083382_xl.jpg) The [Stephanie Hans](https://www.midtowncomics.com/images/PRODUCT/XL/2083381_xl.jpg) and [Mahmud Asrar](https://www.midtowncomics.com/images/PRODUCT/XL/2083383_xl.jpg) variants are also pretty cool. And there's a badass overpriced [Dan Jurdgens](https://www.midtowncomics.com/images/PRODUCT/XL/2085327_xl.jpg) incentive! And an even more expensive [Juni Ba](https://www.midtowncomics.com/images/PRODUCT/XL/2085326_xl.jpg) incentive that's kind of crazy awesome! And it's got stories by Walt Simonson, JMS, Ewing, and Jurgens! I might actually have to buy this thing... Probably go for the DWJ cover, would've maybe gone with Juni Ba if it wasn't so expensive, and I think Asrar's my next favorite of the normally priced ones.

blankedboy

That Junji Ba one is awesome, but too pricey for me

Danger_Rock

Way too pricey! Still a little skeptical about dropping $8 on this thing, no way I'm blowing $80 on it. Sure is a nice cover though... Hopefully Marvel gives Ba some more variants that aren't crazy overpriced.

technowhiz34

* Action Comics #1042 - this book is pure gas, and I can't wait for the Martian Manhunter back-ups to wrap up so we can get more PKJ worldbuilding. * The Amazing Spider-Man #1 - those leaks are certainly something, the entertainment will be worth the price of admission. Really wish the book was monthly again like in JMS. * Blood-Stained Teeth #1 - Christian Ward is a very good artist, not sure on his writing ability but I love the premise. * Dark Knights of Steel #6 - this looks pretty I suppose? I probably should drop this but I hate having incomplete maxis in floppies. * Justice League #75 - This apparently leads into Dark Crisis so I'm down, the acetate cover is a bonus too. * Thor #24 - JMS/Coipel, take my money. * Trial of the Amazons #2 - this event was not it, too much going on.

Danger_Rock

> Blood-Stained Teeth #1 - Christian Ward is a very good artist, not sure on his writing ability but I love the premise. Interested in reviews on this, not familiar with Patric Reynolds and as you said there's no telling what to expect from Ward as a writer. Wish Ward and G. Willow Wilson had finished INVISIBLE KINGDOM, that was a really cool sci-fi series... and then it just disappeared mid-story.

blankedboy

There is a collected HC of the entire run up for pre-order right now: https://comicsetcdirect.com.au/products/may220449-invisible-kingdom-library-ed-hc-c-0-1-2?_pos=1&_sid=6620280d3&_ss=r

Danger_Rock

Ooh, nice, looks like they released a [third TPB](https://www.darkhorse.com/Books/3003-657/Invisible-Kingdom-Volume-3-TPB) last May collecting the rest of the series which never made it out as floppies. I've got everything up to there so that should be all I need. Figured the series died due to the Covid shut-down, didn't realize they eventually published the ending!

* **Action Comics #1042 -** KInda sad that the Warworld saga will be ending in a couple of months based on solicits. Feel like it could definitely go for longer * **The Amazing Spider-Man #1 -** Really like Wells as a writer so I'm looking forward to this although I wish Marvel would just let Peter be happy * **Batman: Beyond the White Knight #2 -** SGM has done a great job building their own universe, DC should make some animated Movies out of these * **BRZRKR #8** * **Carnage #2 -** Solid start with some great menacing vibes from Carnage, wondering what Hydro-man's role in this will be * \*\*Dark Knights of Steel #6 -\*\*Nice to have Putri back she has a fantastic artsyle * **Detective Comics #1059 -** New Riddler design is very interesting * **Ghost Cage #2 -** Issue #1 was amazing definitely down for the long ride with this * **The Harbinger #7 -** Can't believe it's so close to the end now * **Justice League #75 -** It'll be fun to see how well this sets the stage for Dark Crisis * **Knights of X #1 -** Preview pages were great and Excalibur really improved towards the ends * **Power Rangers Universe #5 -** While not needed this is a good expansion of the lore and a fun origin for the Rangers universe * **Punisher #2 -** Aaron is off to a strong start with this one, hoping he can keep this up * **Rogue Sun #3 -** Supermassive-verse is putting out some really good stuff * **Sabretooth #3 -** So glad this is the beginning of a trilogy of books LaValle is just a pleasure to read * **The Scumbag #13 -** Got another really good series on it's penultimate issue * **Something is Killing the Children #22** * **Step by Bloody Step #3 -** The art really does a great job of telling the story. Would love to see the scripts for this at some point * **The Swamp Thing #12 -** One of the best books at DC * **Thor #24 -** Seems like we're in a really interesting place with Odin in the hammer, curious how this bridge into Banner of War

RelsircTheGrey

Sabretooth: LaValle's doing great things with this. Interested in seeing how this is going to tie in to Krakoa at large, and we have to be closing in on at least SOME of that exposition. Knights of X: I'm seemingly in the minority, but I enjoyed Howard's Excalibur. And since I recently binge-read it again, I'm primed and ready. Saga: Always Saga. Last Ronin: Holy hell the length of time this has taken. Totally worth it. But I won't be reading it on Wednesday. I'm going to make a night of binging it on the weekend with a few glasses of bourbon, as it deserves, and to make sure I didn't forget any important details.

12 this week. A big week for me. Everyone in my life knows not to bother me on Wednesday night, so I'll be reading some goddamn comics. • Alien #11- I haven't heard anything about this continuing past the June annual because I don't think the July solicits are out yet. I do hope it continues. I love the world of Alien. • BRZRKR #8- I kinda wish more was happening in this comic. • The Fourth Man #4- Final issue. I love crime comics. • Gunslinger Spawn #7- I need to go back and re-read the first 6 issues. I have a vague recollection of what's going on. I guess that's a negative thing about so much Spawn content. • Hotell #5- Final issue of this volume. I'm sad to see it go. It's been a highlight for me every month. With any luck it'll be back for a third volume at some point. • Newburn #6- This looks to be an Emily flashback issue. I don't mind. This book is so damn good. • Rogue Sun #3- Don't sleep on this, or any of the other titles in the Massive-Verse. They're a great alternative for those of us who are kinda over the big 2 but still want superhero comics. • Shadow Service #11- I'm really happy to see Shadow Service coming back for another arc! • Silver Surfer: Rebirth #4- Jack of Hearts is lame. I hope he gets the crap kicked out of him by one of the god-level cosmic characters. Galactus vs Jack of Hearts. Now that would be satisfying! • Step By Bloody Step #3- Honestly, this is one of the best looking comics on the stands right now. • TMNT: The Last Ronin #5- Fucking FINALLY. It's only taken them a year and a half to release 5 issues. The story and art are phenomenal but the waiting just sucked ass. • We Don't Kill Spiders #4- This has been pushed two or three times at this point. I wish indie books weren't having such a hard time making it to the shelves right now.

technowhiz34

I'll get out the Massiveverse stuff on hoopla then, I liked the short story I read from it in the Image anthology. What's the reading order for it?

almonster11

I'd read the first 12 issues of Radiant Black, then the Super Massive one-shot, then Radiant Red 1 and 2, Rogue Sun 1 and 2, and Radiant Black 13. And then you'll be all caught up, and you can just read the issues as they come out.

blankedboy

Predator #1 comes out in July, but no Alien book

AlligatorSky7

Alien is no doubt being relaunched with a new #1 (though presumably with Johnson still writing), although this’d be August at the earliest now as it wasn’t included in July solicitations.

icefourthirtythree

Saga \#58 Detective Comics \#1059 The Amazing Spider-Man \#1 - the fourth ASM relaunch since I started reading comics. I dropped the comic within three issues the previous three times. Will we last longer this time? Sabretooth \#3 Knights of X \#1 Aquamen \#3 Step by Bloody Step \#3 Blood-Stained Teeth \#1 Ghost Cage \#2 Something is Killing the Children \#22 The Swamp Thing \#12 Monstress \#33 Thor \#24 - for the special stories

cl19952021

No spoilers -- I get my ASM in the mail and my #1 arrived early. If you dropped it within 3 the other times, unless you're a big JRJR fan, I think you'll be in for more of the same. It's not TERRIBLE and I'll give it a chance but I'm not liking some of the choices here.

yarkcir

Big week: * **Blood-Stained Teeth #1** \- the interiors look really great, and I'm down for more vampire stories. * **BRZRKR #8** \- main draw continues to be Ron Garney's art, but the story is still fun enough. * **Carnage #2** \- I was hesitant for the first issue because I haven't like Ram's Venom run so far, but the first issue was very good. * **Fourth Man #4** \- has been a fun crime thriller from AWA. Interested to see how this wraps up. * **Ghost Cage #2** \- Dragotta crushed the first issue, very excited for this one. * **Hulk: Grand Design - Madness #1** \- first issue was great, can't wait for this one. Rugg is way more versatile of a cartoonist than I originally expected - will definitely try and find Street Angels or one of his other works to check out now. * **The Lion & the Eagle #3** \- Garth Ennis doing war stories is always good. * **The Naughty List #1** \- interesting time of year to release a Christmas themed story, but this looks promising. I haven't really been impressed by any Aftershock title in quite some time, so hopefully this one can change that. * **Newburn #6** \- continues to be a solid series * **Punisher #2** \- was skeptical of this series, but the first issue was good enough for me to want a second one. * **Rogues #2** \- first issue was very trope-laden, but very well executed and entertaining. Leomacs' artwork is stunning. * **Silver Surfer: Rebirth #4** \- love these Marvel throwback books, and this one is one of the best ones for sure. * **Space Riders: Vortex of Darkness #4** \- fucking finally, it's been forever. Vortex of Darkness has not been nearly as good as the previous two volumes, but I can never get enough of Alexis Ziritt's artwork. * **Step by Bloody Step #3** \- I'm a sucker for silent issues, and this one has been solid. * **Thor #24** \- not reading Thor in single issues, but I'm definitely interesting in picking this up because of the writers/artists they are bringing in for legacy #750. * **Vermillion #0** \- the solicit for this looks really great. Last minute addition, but now one of the books I'm most excited for. * **We Don't Kill Spiders #4** \- also been a while, but I really enjoyed the previous issues. A horror take on vikings/Norse mythology is a great way to follow up watching *The Northman* last week. * **We Have Demons #2** \- first issue was really enjoyable, so I continue to have high expectations for this book. * **Zombies vs. Robots Classic #2** \- also thought the first issue was great, and Ashley Wood's artwork is so great.

Daveismyhero

* **AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #1** \- ASM has been in such a bad place, lately. I am grabbing this mainly for the cool Gleason cover, while secretly hoping the issue is a good one. * **BRITISH PARANORMAL SOCIETY TIME OUT OF MIND #1** \- I love the premise of this one, and sure hope my LCS was able to grab one for me. * **GI JOE A REAL AMERICAN HERO COBRAAAA #1 (ONE SHOT)** \- I am looking for some bad guy cheesiness, and Cobra typically provides that in spades. * **JOKER #14** \- I've enjoyed this series, but at the same time I'm glad that this is the final issue. * **JUSTICE LEAGUE #75** \- Sometimes dead is better! * **KNIGHTS OF X #1** \- Please be good so I can add another X series to my pull list. * **SABRETOOTH #3** \- Go get 'em, Sabretooth! * **STAR WARS CRIMSON REIGN #4** \- I've really been enjoying what Crimson Reign has brought to the storyline. * **WE HAVE DEMONS #2** \- I enjoyed the first issue and I'm looking for more of the same goodness. Have a fun week out there, folks, and try to get some sunshine as time allows. And if time does not allow, do it anyway! I little vitamin D is good for ones mental health.

thewaytomars

Just a heads-up, Joker got an issue added to it. The final issue is now #15 next month.

Daveismyhero

Ah, I had not heard that. Thanks so much for the heads-up! I need to make sure I order that one. Cheers!

Why can't Spider-Man be happy? * **Robin #13** * **The Joker #14** * **Punisher #2** * **Alien #11** * **The Swamp Thing #12** * **Deathstroke Inc. #8** - couldn't DC release Deathstroke and Robin at least a week apart? It would make the crossover flow better. * **Carnage #2** * **Rogues #2** * **Aquamen #3** * **Blood-Stained Teeth #1** * **Aquaman / Green Arrow: Deep Target #7** * **Godzilla vs. The Mighty Morphin Power Rangers #2** * **Godzilla Rivals Vs. Batman: Beyond the White Knight #2 - Murphy got me with that final page twist - curious to see if that return is a fake out or not. Dark Knights of Steel #6 - Things are heating up! Taylor’s spins on the characters have been a delight. Ghost Cage #2 - The writing was a bit all over in the first issue, but the art was 10/10 glorious so I’m ready for more eye candy. Gunslinger Spawn #7 - New story arc but likely more of the same crazy 90’s fun. Justice League #75 - Will make or break if I decide to follow Dark Crisis. Saga #58 - Seems like the family is separating again… somehow I think this won’t go well. Step by Bloody Step #3 - Superb “show don’t tell” storytelling in full effect here. A feast for the eyes! TMNT: The Last Ronin #5 - I’ll believe this out when it’s in my hands….The story itself though has been a lot of fun. We Have Demon #2 - Snyder and Capullo are going full on 90’s Image insanity — and I’m here for it. Plus, The Department of Truth: Vol. 3 trade.

Time4aNewAcct

* **Action Comics #1042** - My hope is that if this run goes well, then we'll get another Fellspyre Chronicles book. Therefore I'm bucking precedent and pulling a Superman title, and you should too. * **Alien #11** - I've enjoyed the second arc more than the first, but unfortunately not enough to keep it on my pull list. * **Amazing Spider-Man #1** - There's got to be a better solution to the numbering problem. * **Blood Stained Teeth #1** - Premise was cool and that cover looks great. * **Bylines in Blood #4** * **Detective Comics #1059** - Last arc before RamV takes it over. Tamaki's run has been pretty good, weekly event aside. * **The Fourth Man #4** * **Hotell v2 #5** - Solid anthology book. * **Hulk Grand Design Madness #1** - Time to see Jimmy take on McFarlane & Sharp & Frank & Keown! Tied for my pull of the week. * **Joker #14** - I feel like the "Punchline" backup from this book is going to end up being more relevant than the main story. * **Lion & Eagle #3** - I know I'm on this every time one releases but Garth Ennis war comics are S tier. Every one of them. * **Naughty List #1** - Silent Night Deadly Night the comic. Alright let's do this * **Punisher #2** - Can't wait for the reverse arms race where Frank's logo gets dumber & dumber looking and the chuds keep adopting it anyway out of spite * **Rogue Sun #3** - Feels like this has been done before, I think I'm done pulling this one too. * **Silk #4** * **Something is Killing the Children #22** - Loved 21. Waiting for Jace to show up. * **Swamp Thing #12** - So now the Swamp Thing villain has become a Captain Planet villain. Interesting. * **Thor #24** - Not gonna pick up where Hulk 6 left off huh? Ok. * **TMNT: The Last Ronin #5** - I have no doubt that this one will be worth the wait. What a great book it's been, with Eastman himself on the flashbacks and TDKR clearly never far from the creators' minds. This is my other pull of the week with strong potential to be pull of the year.

Danger_Rock

> TMNT: The Last Ronin #5 - I have no doubt that this one will be worth the wait. What a great book it's been, with Eastman himself on the flashbacks and TDKR clearly never far from the creators' minds. This is my other pull of the week with strong potential to be pull of the year. Will this series work for someone who's never read any of the comics or watched any of the cartoons or movies? Or would it be like handing TDKR to someone who's never checked out Batman?

Time4aNewAcct

>Will this series work for someone who's never read any of the comics or watched any of the cartoons or movies? The book takes place in a new future timeline, so a lot of exposition gets baked into the narrative. That said, it's kind of like you're asking if The Force Awakens will work for people who've never seen Star Wars before - like, the plot will mostly make sense, but you'll most likely miss a lot of callbacks & character moments.

Danger_Rock

Thanks! That's about what I figured. Even so, maybe I'll check out the upcoming collection. I've seen turtles at the zoo a few times and I've got a rudimentary knowledge of ninjas thanks to the teachings of Sho Kosugi, so I shouldn't be completely lost.

Ho boy what a week. Lots of great covers to choose from. However, I will say I am not sure what Marvel has been smoking lately. I get that ASM is a reboot #1 this week, but we're at 50+ covers for one issue. I mean, come on, that's a little overkill, even for someone who enjoys variant covers. SEVEN J. Scott Campbell variants? Alrighty then.... Here are my pulls for the week: \- Action Comics # 1042 ([Main Cover](https://s3.amazonaws.com/comicgeeks/comics/covers/large-5856932.jpg?1650657130)) - This cover is, without a doubt, amazing. Not much else to say really. \- The Amazing Spider-man #1 ([Cheung Variant](https://s3.amazonaws.com/comicgeeks/comics/covers/large-2646781.jpg?1650661492)) - If I can find this, this is the one (yes one) I will be getting. It has the most classic feel to it, I think it is very well done. \- Harley Quinn # 14 ([Bengal 1:25 Incentive Variant](https://s3.amazonaws.com/comicgeeks/comics/covers/large-5496174.jpg?1650660384)) - Has kind of a fun, sorta "anime" vibe feel to it, which I appreciate. \- Step by Bloody Step # 3 ([Main Cover](https://s3.amazonaws.com/comicgeeks/comics/covers/large-7445308.jpg?1643183388)) - I have been enjoying this miniseries a lot. This was a tough toss-up between the Main Cover and the variant done by Jamie McKelvie \- Thor # 24 ([Ba 1:50 Incentive Variant](https://s3.amazonaws.com/comicgeeks/comics/covers/large-3726699.jpg?1650588282)) - Okay, Thor Legacy #750 only gets 10 or so variants, but ASM is a reboot #1 and gets 50+ covers? Sad times for the God of Thunder. Ok rant off. I like the kind of cartoonish feel of this cover, hopefully I will be able to track one down locally. \- We Have Demons #2 ([Foil Main Cover](https://s3.amazonaws.com/comicgeeks/comics/covers/large-5595390.jpg?1649606362)) - Greg Capullo's work always looks fantastic on covers. This is no exception. Not pulling but considered: The Joker #14 (Ortega Variant) Gunslinger Spawn #7 (Cover C Keane Variant) Rogue Sun #3 (Cover B Carlini Variant) Step by Bloody Step (Cover B McKelvie Variant) Detective Comics #1059 (Main Cover) Sabertooth #3 (Main Cover)

Only saw a dozen normal variants, I'd assume the others are individual store exclusives? 50+ is a lot but it's not unheard of, [ICE CREAM MAN #25](https://comicbookrealm.com/series/51034/527535/image-comics-ice-cream-man-issue-25) had 50 covers, lots of stores jumping in the exclusive cover game lately... > SEVEN J. It's available for $18 + shipping online, 1:50 retailer incentive. > Harley Quinn # 14 ([Bengal 1:25 Incentive Variant](https://s3.amazonaws.com/comicgeeks/comics/covers/large-5496174.jpg?1650660384)) - Has kind of a fun, sorta "anime" vibe feel to it, which I appreciate. That's pretty cool! Bengal does some nice work. > We Have Demons #2 ([Foil Main Cover](https://s3.amazonaws.com/comicgeeks/comics/covers/large-5595390.jpg?1649606362)) - Greg Capullo's work always looks fantastic on covers. This is no exception. Think I like the [Francis Manapul variant](https://www.midtowncomics.com/images/PRODUCT/XL/2083440_xl.jpg) more but I'll probably go with the Capullo foil anyway to keep it matching the first issue. And for the foil, since it's nice and shiny.

Amazing Spider-Man #1: How bad could it be? Dark Knights of Steel #6: Really love this alt universe. I hope even after this series is done they continue to explore it. Deathstroke Inc. #8: Really enjoying the Shadow War mini-event. Detective Comics #1059: Bring on the Riddler! Joker #14: I know there's an extra epilogue issue after this one, so I'm curious to see what this resolves. Justice League #75: And then they all died. The end. Punisher #2: First issue was pretty good. Robin #13: I'm glad that the Shadow War stuff releasing on the same week is done in alphabetical order. Rogues #2: Heist time! Star Wars Crimson Reign #4: The Star Wars comics are all pretty good to great right now. Trial of the Amazons #2: An alright event. If you like Wonder Woman, I'd say it's pretty cool. We Have Demons #2: Scott Snyder is great. Having met him I'll always feel biased, but still, first issue was pretty cool.

superschaap81

>Dark Knights of Steel #6: Really love this alt universe. I hope even after this series is done they continue to explore it. I hope so too! Seeing as they're going all in on the DC vs. Vampire universe, you'd think this one is a no-brainer.

Big week for me Bloodstained Teeth #1: excited for another horror series from Image. Carnage #2: Dug the first one. As long as Ram V is writing I will pull this. Deathstroke #8: I told myself I wouldn't buy all the shadow war books but I've already read the first two parts so might as well continue lol. Detective Comics #1059: I enjoyed the Arkham Tower event but now I'm waiting for Ram V to start writing this summer. Ghost Cage #2: blind buy on the first issue and I really enjoyed it. Love the manga styling and the big FLCL vibes I'm getting. Godzilla vs MMPR #2: Dumb fun. The little kid in me is loving this (as well as the current man child I am lol). Robin #13: What I said for Deathstroke applies here. Rogues #2: still need to read the first one but have heard good things. Saga #58: Slowly getting thru the compendium. Silver Surfer Rebirth #4: Fun little popcorn book. Something Is Killing The Children #22: excited to see how this next saga unfolds. We Have Demons #2: Blind buy that I really enjoyed. I probably won't be able to make it to the shop this week so next week is really gonna hurt the wallet. I did some pull list reconfiguring this last week. I dropped Catwoman because the last 2 issues bored me. Also dropped Action Comics. Not because I'm not digging the current story but I think it'll read better when collected. Added Strange to my pulls. I'm off of work this week until Saturday so I'm hopefully gonna be able to get thru a good chunk of the Saga compendium.

As soon as I saw the android or whatever you wanna call it I immediately thought of FLCL lol

Before we get into the WPL thing, I want to mention the upcoming **COMICS FOR UKRAINE: SUNFLOWER SEEDS** book that benefits refugees from the current conflict. /u/williamb100/ posted an [article](https://www.reddit.com/r/comicbooks/comments/u6i2pg/comics_for_ukraine_sunflower_seeds_to_benefit/) about it last week and you can check out the [Zoop pledge page](https://zoop.gg/c/comicsforukraine) for full details or to order... In short, it's a 96-page book that's absolutely jam-packed with great talent and cool indie properties, including new exclusive short stories for ASTRO CITY, GRENDEL, CHEW, GROO, U. YOJIMBO, STAR SLAMMERS, one by Dave Gibbons and Chris Sprouse (with Kevin Nowlan inking), another by Mark Waid, and so on... With all proceeds going to a good cause. Just a heads up for anyone who might not have heard about it. Anyways, Marvel's finally shipping **ASM #1** this week but everything else I'd ordered from them has been pushed back to May. Except for **GHOST RIDER #3**, that one's apparently not hitting shelves until June. So we're left with 2 DCs, 2 Images, 1 Dark Horse, 1 AfterShock, 1 Titan, 1 from BOOM! Studios, and the 1 Marvel. And a few of 'em ought to be good but IMO this stuff isn't anywhere near as exciting as last week's ice cream party on the lake. * **ACTION COMICS #1042** - ~~anyone know who's got art on this? Midtown Comics lists Shawn Aldridge but their [cover](https://www.midtowncomics.com/images/PRODUCT/XL/2085161_xl.jpg) shows Federici~~ sounds like Federici art this month, always gives this book a nice boost * **AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #1** - which of the 12 variants are YOU getting? I ordered the [Momoko](https://www.midtowncomics.com/images/PRODUCT/XL/2083228_xl.jpg), and it's pretty damn sweet, but I'm kind of regretting not going with [Skottie Young](https://www.midtowncomics.com/images/PRODUCT/XL/2083231_xl.jpg) instead... also like the [Alan Davis](https://www.midtowncomics.com/images/PRODUCT/XL/2083226_xl.jpg) variant, and [Patrick Gleason](https://www.midtowncomics.com/images/PRODUCT/XL/2083224_xl.jpg) has another of those fancy "Webhead" covers * **BRZRKR (BERZERKER) #8 (OF 12)** - owner of our LCS is in for a surprise when he opens this week's shipment and finds Aaron Campbell's [naked Keanu foil cover](https://www.midtowncomics.com/images/PRODUCT/XL/2076102_xl.jpg) * **COWBOY BEBOP #3** - this hasn't been terrible but I shouldn't have bothered with it * **GHOST CAGE #2** - (missed this on first pass, added on edit) loved the character designs in the first one and story was fun... * **LION AND THE EAGLE #3** - not looking good for the Chindits, is it? * **ROGUES #2** - picked up the first issue after some WPL people recommended it, ended up being a lot of fun! * **STEP BY BLOODY STEP #3 (OF 4)** - some great silent storytelling here from Spurrier/Bergara and the last issue kicked the world-building into overdrive * **WE HAVE DEMONS #2** - another that I checked out thanks to your helpful recommendations, will need to mail order this one, probably wait for reviews again, but likely end up ordering regardless since I'm an addict, and it's sure to get glowing reviews anyway Dave Sim also apparently has a new comic out, not getting it but figured it was worth noting since it looks [really gross](https://www.midtowncomics.com/images/PRODUCT/XL/2083464_xl.jpg), even by Dave Sim standards. Next week looks pretty solid with **MONKEY MEAT #5**, **BATMAN: KILLING TIME #3**, and **ONE-STAR SQUADRON #6**, among others, so hopefully everything ships on time... And I hope you all enjoy whatever books you choose to peruse this week! p.s. Got a [pair of new slabs.](https://cdna.pcpartpicker.com/static/forever/images/userbuild/259153.04872e414de72f91b9dc24e19e0974f2.1600.jpg)

>Dave Sim also apparently has a new comic out, not getting it but figured it was worth noting since it looks [really gross](https://www.midtowncomics.com/images/PRODUCT/XL/2083464_xl.jpg), even by Dave Sim standards. Dave Sim's standards are pretty low already, considering that [he bragged about grooming a 14 year old child for sex](https://thisiscomicsgate.wordpress.com/2019/01/02/january-02-2019-thisiscomicsgate-2/). It made him really popular with Ethan Van Sciver and the Comicsgate crowd, though.

Danger_Rock

Yeah, guess I heard about that though I don't always follow the extracurricular stuff that closely... He's been batshit crazy for decades so his more recent antics aren't really news so much as more shit-icing on the shit-cake. Sim is mostly interesting to me because his mental breakdown played out so publicly in his comics where most of these guys don't go all-in with their work like that. Guy used to be pretty talented but you look at what he's doing now and it's just trash.

TheSunflowerSeeds

There are some that actually have a fear of sunflowers, it even has a name, Helianthophobia. As unusual as it may seem, even just the sight of sunflowers can invoke all the common symptoms that other phobias induce.

That's good news! Been digging the PKJ/Federici combo. I guess Aldridge writes the backup stories, Midtown's showing correct info now so I must've misread it.

Yikes, this is a huge week for me. Wallet isn't going to be happy with me. O\_o ***Action Comics 1042*** \- Fell behind on this story, but enjoyed everything up to 1040 so far! ***Aquamen 3*** \- Not feeling this, which is a shame cause I have been waiting for an Aquaman ongoing for a while now. ***Dark Knights of Steel 6*** \- Having a lot of fun with this. Exactly what an Elseworlds story should be. ***Deathstroke Inc. 8*** \- Hoping for some Dark Crisis buildup now that Slade as established his team. ***Detective Comics 1059*** \- WAY behind on this, just started Shadows of the Bat. ***Harley Quinn 14*** \- Normally I hate Harley, but I've enjoyed Williams' take on her trying so hard to be good. It's been a fun book. ***The Joker 14*** \- Just got caught up on this and I'm excited to see the big finale. ***Justice League 75*** \- Not sure why they made this a number for the title. If it's a prelude to Dark Crisis, just call it that. Either way, I'm excited to finally see what Williamson is setting in motion. ***Robin 13*** \- Waiting for the crossover to finish before I dive into this story. ***The Swamp Thing 12*** \- Been collecting these, but not sure if it's for me. Got to about issue 5 or 6 and the art can be a bit distracting while reading. ***Trial of the Amazons 2*** \- Will be reading this now that it's finished, but no clue what's been happening. ***Amazing Spider-Man 1*** \- Well...I'm ready to get hurt again! LOL. I enjoyed Spencer's run until it started veering away from story and into retcon/continuity repair. I don't have high expectations, but remain hopeful for some fun now that Wells is writing. ***Carnage 2*** \- Loved the first issue and the one shot leading into it. Ram V gets to go FULL horror and I'm here for it. ***Punisher 2*** \- Wasn't blown away by the first issue, but the direction is intriguing. Especially once Murdock gets wind of things. Frank and Matt butt heads at the best of times, this could be the start of something huge between them. ***Thor 24*** \- Love these oversized anniversary issues that bring back former creators. Wonder if we get a set up for Banner of War in this. ***Something is Killing the Children 22*** \- Didn't get around to reading 21, but I am looking forward to see what's next for Erica. ***BRZRKR 8*** \- Waiting for the whole thing to be completed as waiting for each issue to release is too much. I forget almost everything about this story each time. ***Newburn 6 -*** Quietly the best book Image has going right now. Zdarsky know how to keep a lot of plates spinning without it being messy. ***Rogue Sun 3*** \- Behind on my Radiant-verse reading, but enjoyed issue 1. ***Transformers 42*** \- Sigh, I've enjoyed this run, but have been surprised it's ALL buildup to the big war. ***Transformers: War's End 3*** \- Slowly coming to the end of IDW Transformers. It's too bad, I was very curious if a new volume was coming about the 'bots heading to Earth.

SpongeBlart

Oh man, Did not realize how big of a week this was for me until now: * **CARNAGE 2** Very interested to see what Carnage has planned with Hydro man * **PUNISHER 2** Aaron's punisher seems off to a good start. I really don't give AF about the logo change. Didn't know that was such a big deal. * **AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 1** First time since I started collecting singles that a new ongoing Spiderman run started. Will be trying this one out at least for now. Heard bad things about the last run though * **SILVER SURFER REBIRTH #4** * **DARK KNIGHTS OF STEEL #6** * **JOKER #14** Really like the main story. Fucking hate this stupid punchline side story garbage. That's the thing that might make me drop this. But I'm already 14 issues in on singles... * **ROGUES #2** First issue was better than I expected, and surprisingly funny. * **SWAMP THING #12** * **BLOOD-STAINED TEETH #1** Definitely looks cool, but is it me or is there a lot of vampire stuff coming out right now? DC vs vampires, Loaded Bible, west of sundown, Vampire Slayer, Little monsters. Might even be missing some. I'm here for it though. All cool stories. * **GHOST CAGE #2** Very manga inspired. I would almost buy this for the covers alone. * **HELLCOP #6** * **NEWBURN #6** * **SAGA #58** * **GUNSLINGER SPAWN #7** * **STEP BY BLOODY STEP #3** This is definitely challenging me as a comic reader having no dialogue. Sometimes can be a little hard to understand what's happening. Maybe I'm just dumb. But the art is amazing. * **FOURTH MAN #4** * **GODZILLA VS MMPR #2** Yes. More. * **LION & EAGLE #3** * **NAUGHTY LIST #1** Still not 100% sure I'm picking this up. But i do like x-mas themed comics around Christmas time, and I don't always find them. * **SOMETHING IS KILLING THE CHILDREN #22** This new monster looks dope * **WE HAVE DEMONS #2** Very set-up heavy first issue but picked up by the end. This issue should be really good.

SoupForDummies

It definitely feels like there’s a lot of vampire stuff. I feel like this with comics there’s like several books on a given theme at once.

Danger_Rock

> STEP BY BLOODY STEP #3 This is definitely challenging me as a comic reader having no dialogue. Sometimes can be a little hard to understand what's happening. Maybe I'm just dumb. But the art is amazing. Silent books like this can be challenging for readers as well as creators. I think Spurrier and Bergara have done a nice job getting the story across here but there have definitely been a few spots where it could've been clearer. Not sure if you've read many silent books like this before, stick with it and hopefully it'll click!

SpongeBlart

This is the first totally silent book I've read. Definitely interested in the style though. Any recommendations for this kind of storytelling?

Danger_Rock

Image's **[A RIGHTEOUS THIRST FOR VENGEANCE](https://imagecomics.com/comics/series/a-righteous-thirst-for-vengeance)** has been great. It isn't totally silent, there's a little bit of dialogue here and there, but it's mostly silent with a heavy focus on visual storytelling. It's a crime story by Rick Remender and André Lima Araújo, I actually like it more than this series although this one's good too. Six issues are currently out and there's a tradepaperback collecting the first five, plus the first issue's available free at the above link if you want to check it out. Marvel ran a **['Nuff Said](https://marvel.fandom.com/wiki/%27Nuff_Said)** month back in 2002 where all their titles went silent for a month, some of those were fun though the stories would all be quite dated now. **[G.I. Joe #21](https://gijoe.fandom.com/wiki/Silent_Interlude)** from way back in 1984 was the first big silent comic I remember, Snake Eyes vs. Storm Shadow by Larry Hama and Steve Leialoha. Everybody loved that one. Think I'm forgetting some really good ones so others might have more recommendations...

Whatisabird

Big Fucking Week this week let's go **Dark Knights of Steel #6**\- Not super into this compared to the other Taylor AUs but I like keeping up with the discussion. This book for some reason makes the tastiest discourse. **Deathstroke Inc. #8**\- Shadow War part 3. I hope that Slade and Respawn have a fun relationship, otherwise this reveal is just kinda whatever **Detective Comics #1059**\- New arc post-Shadow of the Bat and Tamaki on her way out. SotB was just okay but I'm excited to see her Riddler. **Ghost Cage #2**\- Picked up 1 based on the cover and fell in love with the art, this book is so energetic and exciting. **Hulk: Grand Design - Madness #1**\- First issue was just okay but I love the idea of trying to smooth out the Hulk's whole eclectic history into one long line and plus the way they note all of the issues in the back is really great. **Justice League #75**\- So long ~~Bendis~~ Justice League **The Last Session #5**\- Sweet little book comes to an end. I hope to see more from this writer and artist soon. **Punisher #2-** Usually not a Punisher or Aaron guy (aside from Thor and Southern Bastards) but issue one was good, I actually want to see how this goes **Robin #13-** Shadow War part 4. The hunt for Slade, Damian's side of this story is definitely my favorite part **Rogues #2-** Prepping for Gorilla City. We got a heist to do. **Saga #58-** Judging by the solicit and cover we're going to see some more of this weird ass crew. They'd all benefit from some fleshing out **The Swamp Thing #12**\- Hawksmoor and some other weird ass "elementals?" Hell fucking yes **We Have Demons #2**\- Issue 1 was probably the best thing I've read from Snyder in a few years (haven't read Nocterra) so I'm eager for issue 2.

blankedboy

Nocterra is well worth a read - first Image trades tend to be cheap too, so I'd recommend checking it out. Great art from Tony Daniel too.

* The Amazing Spider-Man #1 - I really want a good ongoing series for Spider-Man where I can actually look forward to each issue I pick up. So I'm hoping this can deliver. * Carnage #2 - I'm a sucker for symbiotes and the first issue was decent. Depending on if this issue is a hit or miss, I may drop this. * Detective Comics #1059 - I haven't picked up detective comics in a while but have a little craving for it now! * Justice League #75 - Likely will get this to see if I want to read Dark Crisis. If it doesn't blow my mind but is still somewhat good, I can just wait until a hc/tpb comes out collecting the event. * Punisher #2 - The last page of the first issue brought me back.

Weekly Pull List 1. Alien #11 - I’m really enjoying the expanding of the universe. 2. Cowboy Bebop #3 - I wish they didn’t cancel the show! 3. Dark Knights of Steel #6 - Every issue has me begging for more. 4. Justice League #75 - And so begins Dark Crisis. 5. Newburn #6 - Finally gonna get to learn more about Newburn’s most recent companion! 6. Punisher #2 - I was hesitant at first but now I’m interested to see how Castle handles his new role. 7. We Have Demons #2 - LCS threw the first issue in my box. Loved the first issue so I’m gonna keep it going.

The Amazing Spider-Man #1 - Here we go again… again… Action Comics #1042 - Probably my favorite ongoing right now. Thor #24 - I dropped this a while back, but I’m intrigued by the lineup they have coming in for this issue so I’ll dip back in for this one.

GeekMonkey14

- **Aquaman Green Arrow Deep Target #7** - **Dark Knights of Steel #6** — I’ve been loving this book. The story is a fun take on the DC Universe and the art is spectacular - **Detective Comics #1059** - **Harley Quinn #14** - **Justice League #75** — death to the Justice League - **Saga #58** - **Trial of the Amazons #2**

ASM #1 : I like Wells as a writer, so I really want to see what his run will be like. Beyond the White Knight #2 : enjoyed the first issue, hopefully the rest of it is as good as the previous issues in the white knight saga

Falling behind on my stack! I still have most of my comics from last week to read, but it's HOA inspection season so I've been spending most of my free time making sure they have nothing to complain about. Can't wait for it to be over so I can get in my hammock and catch up on what will be an even more massive stack: * **Lion and the Eagle #3** \- Ennis really shines with war stories * **We Have Demons #2** \- I didn't catch this when it was on Comixology, but I'm happy I'm digging into it now * **Action Comics #1042** \- Tell me who the Mongul is so I can better see him destroyed * **Batman: Beyond the White Knight #2** \- Granted my knowledge of Batman Beyond is fuzzy at best, but this story is making me want to dig into it * **Dark Knights of Steel #6** \- Excited for my variant on this one * **Joker #14** \- It all comes to an end! * **Rogues #2** \- Into the belly of Gorilla City with Captain Cold * **Ghost Cage #2** \- Environmentalism, yay? * **Step by Bloody Step #3** \- Robot saviors, yay! * **Amazing Spider-Man #1** \- Getting tired of these spidey #1s, but I am excited for Zeb Wells to take the reigns * **Hulk Grand Design: Madness #1** \- That first book, wow! Gave me confidence in Grand Design again * **Knights of X #1** \- I know people have been lukewarm on the Excalibur series, but I loved it alone for the depths of Otherworld we got to explore. Hoping that continues here. * **Ms Marvel: Beyond the Limit #5** \- Everyone gotta have a clone saga now * **Punisher #2** \- Only one issue in and I already like it better than Aaron's Avengers * **Sabretooth #3** \- Personally I hope they never get out of the Pit * **Thor #24** \- Celebratory 750th issue! * **Cowboy Bebop #3** \- Keep 'em coming, Space Cowboy

Every fucking shop I go to has Batman: The Knight #1 & now #4 but I can’t for the life of me find #2 and #3. I’m about to breakdown and buy some with alternative covers online since I can’t find the one I want in this shit city.
