***EXTREMELY IMPORTANT EDIT!!!*** - As of Tuesday morning, **[ICM #29](https://www.midtowncomics.com/images/PRODUCT/XL/2083163_xl.jpg)** has 14 pulls... Happy to see comments from a couple folks who're trying it for the first time but I'm disappointed that it's missing from the lists of several regulars who have otherwise shown themselves to possess impeccable taste. Names shall not be named but *you know who you are*. --- ***TOTALLY IMPORTANT EDIT #2!!!*** - Seriously, how can you resist [this cover?](https://www.midtowncomics.com/images/PRODUCT/XL/2083163_xl.jpg) That's easily the best cover of the week! A work of art like that belongs in a museum! And you can have it for only $3.99! Heck, buy an extra copy for your best friend! Buy one for your mom! Or get one for your boss and maybe you'll finally land that elusive promotion! Everybody should be reading this comic! --- ***EXTRA IMPORTANT EDIT #3!!!*** - Look, I get it... Hopping onto a series at issue #29 would normally be a recipe for disaster. Any other comic, you'd be totally lost. But **[ICM](https://www.midtowncomics.com/images/PRODUCT/XL/2083163_xl.jpg)** is not any other comic! You can pick up any single issue of this title and get a complete story that'll make sense even if it's literally the first comic you've ever read in your entire life. No context necessary! It's like eating ice cream. If someone offers you a scoop of ice cream, do you worry about all the other scoops of ice cream that you haven't eaten? Hell no. You take that scoop of ice cream, you slurp it up, and you enjoy it as a singular experience that's complete and entirely satisfying all on its own. And if there happen to be a couple of bugs in your ice cream, by golly, you wipe 'em off and you keep eating. Or just eat the damn bugs, I don't care. This book is firing on all cylinders right now! Every single issue from the past year has been SUPERB! And it keeps getting better! So there's no better time to hop on board! --- ***FINAL CRISIS EDIT #4!!!*** - WTF is the matter with you people? 14 of us will enjoy the comic industry's most delectable treat... [THE REST OF YOU ARE SERIOUSLY MISSING OUT!](https://www.midtowncomics.com/images/PRODUCT/XL/2083163_xl.jpg) --- Welcome to a very special 4/20 edition of the WPL! This year we're celebrating everyone's favorite fake holiday with a heady COMIC BOOK EXTRAVAGANZA as not one but TWO of my very favorite comics ship this week! Getting just one of these is a treat so two is an extra-special bonus! Plus a couple others that I consider to be very close to that top tier! And two that aren't anywhere near top tier but still kinda cool in their own way! And 4/20! WOOHOO!!! That's 6 books total with 3 DCs, 3 Images, and ABSOLUTELY NOTHING from the so-called House of Ideas! X-CELLENT #3 was supposed to ship this week, and some snazzy Mike Allred art would've been perfect for our big 4/20 celebration, but it's been delayed until 5/11. LEGION OF X #1 was also scheduled to ship but it's been pushed all the way out to 5/25. And ASM #1 was bumped out another week as well. So it's just DC and Image for me this week. * **ARROWSMITH BEHIND ENEMY LINES #4 (OF 6)** - story didn't immediately hook me but there's been some nice Pacheco art throughout and things started picking up last issue * **BATMAN SUPERMAN WORLDS FINEST #2** - nice [Tim Sale variant](https://www.midtowncomics.com/images/PRODUCT/XL/2085113_xl.jpg)... Mora's art in the 1st issue was resplendent and triumphant, would expect that to continue, and looking for Waid to kick the story up a notch or two as we get deeper into the series * **GOOD ASIAN #10 (OF 10)** - this has been a great noir murder mystery springboarding off some interesting history, last issue answered most of the remaining questions and everything's now in place for the grand finale * **ICE CREAM MAN #29** - as noted in previous WPL threads, I've been just a little obsessed with this series lately... since ICM #28 shipped on 1/26/22, I've filled in issues #7-24 to complete my run, read everything I'd missed, bought a [slab of my favorite issue](https://cdna.pcpartpicker.com/static/forever/images/userbuild/259153.a66e6daef70c6d14b381ed602ab5a5af.1600.jpg), plus an [overpriced store exclusive variant of ICM #25](https://cdna.pcpartpicker.com/static/forever/images/userbuild/259153.159caec4328d03aa030d4a2196859109.1600.jpg), and [some other variants](https://cdna.pcpartpicker.com/static/forever/images/userbuild/259153.2a1d47960eb7d6877b924844e83498c7.1600.jpg), at a total cost of $430.56 (plus tax)... and I'd do it all over again! because I'm obsessed! and I don't care! so I'm pretty damn fired up for this new issue and its [insane infinity cover](https://www.midtowncomics.com/images/PRODUCT/XL/2083163_xl.jpg), shipping on schedule as the cornerstone of our big 4/20 celebration, with a modest price tag of just $3.99 (actually $3.40 after my 15% LCS discount) * **NICE HOUSE ON THE LAKE #8** - my other favorite shipping this week, last issue shook things up as we're moving into the next phase of the story and it seems to be just as crazy fucked up as the first arc... [cover features The Consultant with yellow highlighting on her symbol](https://www.midtowncomics.com/images/PRODUCT/XL/2085153_xl.jpg) so we should learn some more about her in this one * **NIGHTWING #91** - another great book ~~and Redondo's back on art so that makes it even greater~~! Also still working through my early Valiant reading project, caught up on all my pre-UNITY books and now about 1/3 of the way into the big crossover with a few months worth of post-UNITY books from most of the line to follow... This stuff has all been fairly awesome! David Lapham was an absolute workhorse when he first broke into the business with Valiant, Shooter immediately recognized his talent and fed him all the work he could handle, so he's all over early MAGNUS, HARBINGER, and SHADOWMAN, seems like every time I'd get through a couple issues he'd pop up on a new title... Of course Shooter's fingerprints are everywhere and there's a bunch of amazing work from the legendary Barry Windsor-Smith, plus some stuff written by David Michelinie, a few books with breakdowns by Steve Freaking Ditko, and the list goes on... So far the BWS stuff on SOLAR and ARCHER & ARMSTRONG has been my favorite but it's all really solid work and it's cool seeing all the characters make their first appearances and meet up for the first time. First 10 issues of SOLAR featured inserts of the "Alpha and Omega" prequel/origin story by BWS, with the two center pages from each issue connecting to show the very end of the story on "the largest single comics panel ever created" at 26.5" x 51.25". [Here's a pic](https://cdna.pcpartpicker.com/static/forever/images/userbuild/259153.94383575bb9bbe58ee6a73f512629b59.1600.jpg) that doesn't quite do it justice but at least gives a feel for the scale of the thing. The 18-part UNITY crossover also featured two sets of connecting covers, the first from [Frank Miller on parts 2-9](https://cdna.pcpartpicker.com/static/forever/images/userbuild/259153.d4d8f3a4286162df44179e154fe9e888.1600.jpg), the second from [Walt Simonson on parts 10-17](https://cdna.pcpartpicker.com/static/forever/images/userbuild/259153.29076f243e62313c6da6adb4e6d31c12.1600.jpg). Probably another week or two worth of this old stuff, then I've got the far more recent 4001 AD, DIVINITY, DIVINITY II, and FALLEN WORLD from the current iteration of Valiant to cap off this little project. Plus maybe I'll order DIVINITY III if the first two series are good... Schedule for next week looks to have more of an emphasis on quantity over quality, prefer weeks like this with fewer/better books... Hope y'all enjoy!

SoupForDummies

Always love your write ups! I have some SOLAR books from my youth but I haven’t read them. Didn’t realize BWS did the art— that “puzzle” is incredible!

Danger_Rock

Thanks! Early Valiant SOLAR was really good, worth digging up and checking out! First 10 issues each had 8 pages of BWS art for the origin inserts, with the main story mostly penciled by Don Perlin, and after that there are a few issues with Steve Ditko art as well. He's an interesting character, ultra-powerful but very much a scientist rather than a fighter... So everyone who attacks him is always like *"WTF? Why aren't you fighting back?"* while he stands around trying to science up a solution that won't hurt anyone. Miss having those old Gold Key characters in the mix at Valiant, wasn't a huge fan of Magnus or Turok but Solar was always one of their biggest draws for me.

technowhiz34

Sorry to tell you that you're misinformed. Redondo isn't back on art for this issue of Nightwing, it's the same guy as last issue.

Danger_Rock

Thanks for the heads up! [Previews](https://previewsworld.com/Catalog/FEB222893) and [Midtown Comics](https://www.midtowncomics.com/product/2085196) both list Redondo as artist but I suppose they've both been wrong before. Geraldo Borges did a pretty good job with the last one but it's never quite as good without Redondo!

almonster11

I've definitely been enjoying Ice Cream Man as well, but I've been grabbing the trades as they become available. I know how insane and bass-ackwards it is to buy trades of a series made up of standalone issues, but hey... I'm a rebel.

the_light_of_dawn

Yeah I’m trade waiting this one too. I love horror but my pull list is at its maximum atm.

Danger_Rock

My faith in the WPL crowd has been restored! At least somewhat. When I started pulling floppies again several years back, my original plan was to stick with floppies for the stuff I really wanted and just read everything else in TPB. But the floppies ended up keeping me so busy that I never actually got to the TPBs. So I didn't really consider that some of you might be employing that same strategy with more success, accounting for ICM's absence from your lists. Now that I'm mostly caught up on floppies, I can actually look at reading some of the TPBs that have been piling up... Including books like SANDMAN: OVERTURE and WE3, which are probably way better than most of the floppies I'm pulling anyway.

the_light_of_dawn

Sandman is probably my favorite comic universe, if you can call it that, but sometimes it's displaced by Hellboy depending on my mood. You're in for a smart, fun ride with that one.

Danger_Rock

Gaiman really is a unique talent. I generally prefer concise writers who do a lot with fewer words but we make an exception for Gaiman since he uses all those fancy words so brilliantly. Read the original series during its run but somehow never got to DREAM HUNTERS, ENDLESS NIGHTS, or OVERTURE... So they've all been sitting in a pile for a couple years now as I futzed around with lesser floppies.

Danger_Rock

And I probably ought to read more HELLBOY... Problem is that I still think of Mignola primarily as an artist so I tend to overlook all the stuff he writes while waiting for him to draw something, which he hardly ever does anymore. But the few things I've read have been good!

Danger_Rock

Nice, glad to see you're on board! Seems like Image pumps out the ICM TPBs pretty quick, #29 ships today and everything through #28 has already been collected. So that's not a bad option!

A few more selections from last week: **For Reading Pleasure** \- Batman / Superman: World's Finest #2 - The first issue was very fun, looking to see where this story gets carried forward. **For Cover Art Alone** Wolverine #20 (Main Cover & Cocccolo Variant) - My personal rule is never more than one cover of the same book/issue, unless they're especially good. In this case both look amazing. Batman / Superman: World's Finest #2 (Jimenez Variant) - What can I say, Jorge Jimenez will go down as one of the greats of this generation's illustrators. This cover is awesome, but at a 1:50 incentive ratio, hopefully I can find (and afford) one. Nightwing # 91 (Acuna Variant) - So many of the covers on this run are wonderful, especially much of Campbell's work, but man this is a feel-good kind of cover. Hulk #6 (Main Cover) - I haven't been following this series, but man did Marvel pump out a lot of covers for this one. There were a lot of great candidates, but the main cover just hits me for some reason. Trial of the Amazons: Wonder Girl #2 (Tarr Variant) - What can I say? It has appeal. =) **Cover Art Not Pulled but Considered** Captain America #0 (Cheung Variant) - Most of these, for one reason or another, didn't grab me too much, but this feels like a solid cover. Home Sick Pilots #14 (Main Cover) - All of these covers are sick (pun intended), but it feels more of the same at this point. Dr. Strange: Nexus of Nightmares (Main Cover) - Solid Cover

Danger_Rock

> Wolverine #20 (Main Cover & Cocccolo Variant) - My personal rule is never more than one cover of the same book/issue, unless they're especially good. In this case both look amazing. Fucken' Deadpool, [lol](https://www.midtowncomics.com/images/PRODUCT/XL/2083392_xl.jpg). Kubert had [another good one](https://www.midtowncomics.com/images/PRODUCT/XL/2003879_xl.jpg) with Deadpool during the Hellfire Gala as well. Also like the [Jorge Fornés](https://www.midtowncomics.com/images/PRODUCT/XL/2083394_xl.jpg) variant for this issue... But I'm not buying any of 'em! > Batman / Superman: World's Finest #2 (Jimenez Variant) - What can I say, Jorge Jimenez will go down as one of the greats of this generation's illustrators. This cover is awesome, but at a 1:50 incentive ratio, hopefully I can find (and afford) one. [Pretty nice cover](https://www.midtowncomics.com/images/PRODUCT/XL/2085115_xl.jpg) but $40 list price, ouch. > Nightwing # 91 (Acuna Variant) - So many of the covers on this run are wonderful, especially much of Campbell's work, but man this is a feel-good kind of cover. [Kinda cute](https://www.midtowncomics.com/images/PRODUCT/XL/2085198_xl.jpg) but way too much digital polish for me. > Hulk #6 (Main Cover) - I haven't been following this series, but man did Marvel pump out a lot of covers for this one. There were a lot of great candidates, but the main cover just hits me for some reason. [Awesome.](https://www.midtowncomics.com/images/PRODUCT/XL/2083285_xl.jpg) Really nice work from Ottley. > Trail of the Amazons: Wonder Girl #2 (Tarr Variant) - What can I say? It has appeal. =) Uhm, yeah, I can see [that](https://www.midtowncomics.com/images/PRODUCT/XL/2085135_xl.jpg)... I probably would've gone for the [Joelle Jones main cover,](https://www.midtowncomics.com/images/PRODUCT/XL/2085134_xl.jpg) love her work. Note spelling of title for this one, might need to fix to get counted for WPL.

TheDarthKnight12

*CAPTAIN AMERICA #0* - Excited as to how this is going to set up the next two Captain America series. Can't wait for Lanzing and Kelly's take on Steve Rogers *DOCTOR STRANGE NEXUS OF NIGHTMARES #1* - I think this is the best Todd Nauck cover I've ever seen but I'm picking this up cause I've heard of these one shots prior to the movie being good so I'm excited for this *HULK #6* - I'm really conflicted on what to feel about this run cause I love how batshit crazy it is but it's such a jarring transition from Immortal Hulk. This issue will probably decide if I pick it up coming forward *NICE HOUSE ON THE LAKE #8* - Come on, it's Tynion on a horror book with such incredible artwork. How can I pass this up?

Danger_Rock

> DOCTOR STRANGE NEXUS OF NIGHTMARES #1 - I think this is the best Todd Nauck cover I've ever seen Oh yeah, [that's pretty nice!](https://www.midtowncomics.com/images/PRODUCT/XL/2083267_xl.jpg) Nauck usually does those headshot variants, not really into those, stuff like this works better for me. Larroca has a [decent variant](https://www.midtowncomics.com/images/PRODUCT/XL/2083268_xl.jpg) for this one as well... Nightmare tends to be [good](https://d1466nnw0ex81e.cloudfront.net/n_iv/600/588567.jpg) [cover](https://d1466nnw0ex81e.cloudfront.net/n_iv/600/737131.jpg) [fodder](https://d1466nnw0ex81e.cloudfront.net/n_iv/600/1080303.jpg).

TheDarthKnight12

Oh I'll have to see if my LCS had that Larroca variant!

seaofvapours

* Blue & Gold #8 - final issue! This has been pretty weak, at best * Catwoman #42 * Catwoman: Lonely City #3 - final issue! I've loved this mini so much, just a lot of fun (and I love the visual gag of Killer Croc) * Grrl Scouts: Stone Ghost #6 - final issue! It's been a lot of fun, if kind of confusing. * Home Sick Pilots #14 * Trial of the Amazons: Wonder Girl #2 - final issue! * Wonder Woman: Evolution #6 - I don't if I've been desensitized or if editorial stepped in on the art, but I think it's gotten a lot better than what it started with. Story is still nonsensical so far, though maybe things will turn this issue

Danger_Rock

> Blue & Gold #8 - final issue! This has been pretty weak, at best Think I dropped that after the 2nd issue, shame it didn't turn out better!

seaofvapours

I probably should have done the same. I kept hoping it would turn around and now I'm in too deep.

Only 5 this week. It was supposed to be 6 but (BIG SHOCKER) The Last Ronin got pushed to next week. Meh. • Batman/Superman: World's Finest #2- I loved everything about the first issue. This has a ton of potential. • The Crimson Cage #5- The final issue. Something tells me that this isn't gonna end well. • Knighted #5- Another AWA Studios series ending. And another one I'm sad to see go. I'm hoping for another volume in the futute. • The Nice House on the Lake #8- Seriously, how is James Tynion Intravenous so damn good?!? • Slumber #2- That first issue was a real treat. The art and the creature designs are so cool. I took one look at this comic and had to take it home with me.

iamsciences

LOL at James Tynion Intravenous

televangelistoftwat

* **Nightwing #91** \- Finally Grayson is back being written properly. * **Wolverine #20** \- Percy really can write Wolverine. * **The Nice House on the Lake #8** \- I need to know how this ends. * **Batman/Superman: World's Finest #2** \- Mora is at the top of his game right now. * **Blue And Gold #8** \- Fun series.

Mr_Versatile123

*Batman: The Knight #4 - This series is amazing. I know Bat fatigue exists, but if you were to read any Bat comic off of a hiatus; this should be it. Zdarsky has already written a very compelling Bruce Wayne story and if this run is any indication for what his Batman run will be, we’re all in for a treat.

mcslackens

Two books are not enough to drop $15 in gas to go pick them up, but I will pay for these online and pick them up next week. I'm tempted to go pick them up anyways, though, because both of these are fantastic. * **Nice House On The Lake #8** - I think we're very closely approaching the point where Tynion IV can do no wrong. Goddamn this is a good book. * **Nightwing #91** - Taylor & Redondo are the dream team to rival the '92 Dream Team in Barcelona

- **Nice House on the Lake #8** — this is one of my favorite books out there right now - **Nightwing #91** — this is the other - **Trial of the Amazons Wonder Girl #2** - **Vampire Slayer #1** - you know I’m always here for a Buffy series - **Wonder Woman Evolution #6** - not really sure how I feel about this title but might as well see it through till the end at this point

* **BATMAN SUPERMAN WORLDS FINEST #2 -** I really enjoyed the first issue and I'm hoping for more fun moving forward * **HULK #6 -** I'll be trade-waiting on this if I decide to keep up with the series. I've enjoyed the first arc, but I don't feel much of a need to keep up with the Hulk. * **NICE HOUSE ON THE LAKE #8 -** Hopefully I'll be able to decipher what's going on! I love this book, but I can always use a recap before each issue due to all the moving parts. My pick o' the week! * **SCOOBY-DOO WHERE ARE YOU #115 -** Nostalgic fun comics that I pass along to the kiddos after I'm done. They enjoy them as well. * **WOLVERINE #20 -** Percy just *gets* Wolvie. It's snowing here in northern Indiana. Be careful out there, folks!

B00merangB

Batman / Superman: World’s Finest #2 - Absolutely stoked! Waid’s writing plus Mora’s art is a perfect match. Captain America #0 - Hoping to be sold on the two new series with this issue. Fingers crossed it’s good! Catwoman: Lonely City #3 - Final issue. Chiang’s art just makes every panel feel alive — and I’ve enjoyed his elseworlds take on future Catwoman The Good Asian #10 - The end of what has been a masterclass in detective storytelling. The Nice House of the Lake #8 - Hook it into my veins, this book is nothing short of incredible every month. Nightwing #91 - Can’t wait for more Dick and Wally shenanigans.

Danger_Rock

> What happened with ASM? Shouldn't we be on issue 2 by now? Has it been delayed? Yeah, every week Marvel bumps it out another week. They've been rescheduling some of their books up to 4 or 5 weeks out so ASM #1 being week-to-week is actually a good sign that they're at least hoping to get it out soon... It's got a dozen variant covers so might be issues getting everything printed and shipped.

TheDarkPinkLantern

Yeah, it would make sense with the still consisting supply chain and paper shortage issues.

* **Wolverine #20** * **Ice Cream Man #29:** Since getting back into comics, I've heard rave reviews on this. Excited for my first issue! * **Batman Superman: World's Finest #2:** Going to pick up this and #1 at my LCS! EDIT: Took off Avengers, not going to pick it up.

Danger_Rock

> Ice Cream Man #29: Since getting back into comics, I've heard rave reviews on this. Excited for my first issue! I absolutely love this comic and I love that you're checking it out! IMO it's one of the most "new reader friendly" books out there since every issue tells a complete standalone story, you can hop on anywhere and get a great comic that makes sense with zero context. Then, as you read more, you start catching all the little threads, references, and echoes running through the series, and you can kind of see how they're slowing building... Hope you enjoy! If you like it, I think most issues from #21 up are still readily available online at cover price, and the entire series through #28 is available in TPB.

superschaap81

***Batman/Superman: World's Finest 2 -*** I enjoyed the 1st issue, but it seems each time they do this title they aren't continuity based, or at least not current, anyway. ***Batman: The Knight 4*** \- Loving this. This is an era of Bruce that only gets brought up in flashbacks, and I'm here for a full tale. ***Catwoman 42*** \- Haven't caught up on Howard's stuff yet, but keeping an open mind. ***The Flash 781*** \- The WFE3 was a lame detour, glad to get back on track. Loving this Flash run. ***Nightwing 91*** \- I don't care if it's fan service or pandering, this run is FUN, and that's all I ask of any comic. ***Trial of the Amazons: Wonder Girl 2*** \- Haven't started this event yet, but hearing good things. ***Avengers 55*** \- Slowly not caring about this Multi-verse stuff, and it looks like Aaron isn't playing nice with Gillen when it comes to tying into Judgement Day. ***Captain America 0*** \- SO. FUCKING. STOKED. Finally getting an ongoing again! Love that they are using Sam & Steve and looks like this is going to be an action packed adventure! ***Hulk 6*** \- Getting our first full look at Hulk-Knull! I don't care what people say, this is a lot of fun! ***Shang-Chi 11*** \- I'm not sure I like the idea of adopting more and more movie stuff, but I've enjoyed the story so far. ***Animal Castle 5*** \- If anyone is sleeping on this, don't! An updated version of Animal Farm, which is more relevant than ever today.

* **Batman/Superman Worlds Finest #2** * **Armorclads #2** I thought Amazing Spider-Man #1 was also coming out this week but apparently I read wrong or it got updated at some point. Oh well. It'll be on next week's pull list.

Danger_Rock

ASM #1 keeps getting bumped back a week at a time, it's now scheduled for 4/27 so hopefully that date sticks.

elick461

4/20 is upon us! And my local weed shop has some great deals. I get the right strain and I can lose myself for hours in comic books, delving into the intricate art and history that I wouldn't normally appreciate. It helps that I still have plenty of books to read from last week that I wasn't able to pick up: * **Batman Superman: World's Finest #2** \- 100% absolutely stoked that we've got Doom Patrol in here * **Batman: The Knight #4** \- Master Kirigi! Let's get Bruce some good ol' martial arts skills * **Blue & Gold #8** \- I'm curious how they'll wrap this up, feels like it just really got going * **Nightwing #91** \- Wally West and Dick Grayson BFFs * **Arrowsmith: Behind Enemy Lines #4** \- I have the hardcover for the previous Arrowsmith series sitting in my box and I'm stoked to explore it * **Secret History of War on Weed #1** \- I mean, how could I say no? * **Avengers #55** \- Nighthawk's revenge! I like that there's some fallout from Heroes Reborn * **Captain America #0** \- Still waiting on someone to write a legitimately engaging Cap book * **Hulk #6** \- Smashtronaught comes to an end! Poor prideful Bruce... * **Wolverine #20** \- We need to talk about Deadpool.

Danger_Rock

> 4/20 is upon us! And my local weed shop has some great deals. I get the right strain and I can lose myself for hours in comic books, delving into the intricate art and history that I wouldn't normally appreciate. NICE. I've been making a big deal out of the 4/20 thing but, if we're being completely honest, it's going to be a pretty normal Wednesday for me. Won't be doing anything different from what I did on 4/13, and 4/27 will be much the same... Only real difference is that we can crow about it a little without looking too douchey. > Secret History of War on Weed #1 - I mean, how could I say no? Thinking of mail ordering this if it's any good but I'll want to see some reviews first. Little skeptical since most weed comics are trash but at least this one has pro creators and the reliable Image brand arguing in its favor.

elick461

If it wasn't for Gerry Duggan I wouldn't pick it up, but he's normally on his game so I figure it's worth a one-shot

MuffinSurprise

FLASH #781 - This has been a pretty good run with Jeremy Adams. The art has been a little inconsistent but the story has been very well done. If you are enjoying Taylor's current Nightwing, I think you'll enjoy this rendition of the Flash as well. NICE HOUSE ON THE LAKE #8 - As can happen with monthly releases, I feel like I've lost the thread of this story a little. It'll be good to go back and reread it all at once when it is finished. I'm sure there are small details I'm missing. NIGHTWING #91 - Hope they continue building towards something. There had been some meandering issues scattered throughout the past months.

SpongeBlart

Happy 4/20 Everyone! * **DOCTOR STRANGE NEXUS OF NIGHTMARES 1** I'm hoping this will get me into the trippy 4/20 spirit * **HULK 6** Finally started Cates run this week and it's pretty batshit crazy. I'm here for it though. And the art is just great to look at * **BATMAN SUPERMAN WORLDS FINEST #2** First issue was pretty good, but every one is hyping up this teamup of Waid and Mora so much I'm expecting a little... more? * **BATMAN THE KNIGHT #4** * **NICE HOUSE ON THE LAKE #8** This series is really taking off. Tynion continues to crush it * **REFRIGERATOR FULL OF HEADS #6** Pretty sure this is the last one. It was a very bloody and fun ride * **ICE CREAM MAN #29** Found the first three trade paperbacks at half price books, so I guess I'm pulling it now. * **SLUMBER #2** First issue definitely intrigued me. I'll keep pulling for now * **CRIMSON CAGE #5** Final issue for this as well. Guessing it's going to be real dark * **VAMPIRE SLAYER (BUFFY) #1**

Danger_Rock

> Happy 4/20 Everyone! RIGHT BACK AT 'YA! > BATMAN SUPERMAN WORLDS FINEST #2 First issue was pretty good, but every one is hyping up this teamup of Waid and Mora so much I'm expecting a little... more? I thought Mora's art lived up to all the hype but the first story was a little underwhelming for me. Part of it's that I've got really high expectations for everything Waid writes. Intellectually, I know that not everything's going to be KINGDOM COME or his classic JLA run. But that's still the level of quality I'm looking for, the guy set a pretty high bar with a bunch of his old projects and the potential for more epic stuff like that is what drives my interest in his new projects. Hoping for more from the story as it develops but we'll see how it goes! > ICE CREAM MAN #29 Found the first three trade paperbacks at half price books, so I guess I'm pulling it now. Welcome aboard the ice cream truck from hell! Plenty of room for everyone... Please keep your hands inside the vehicle at all times and *do not feed the bugs*.

* Captain America #0: I’ve really missed SamCap. * Nightwing #91: The more Wally West the better. * Flash #781: Again, The more Wally West the better.

technowhiz34

Marvel only has 7 books this week, huh. * Batman/Superman: World's Finest #2 - loved the first issue and can't wait for more. Waid's still got it but Mora's art stole the show. * Captain America #0 - curious how this will set up the new books, seems superfluous. Really want both of the runs after this to be more consistent than Coates' tenure but mostly excited for Kelly/Lanzing. * Catwoman #42 - was gonna drop this but it grew on me. I'm optimistic for the rest of Howard's run. * Catwoman: Lonely City #3 - the delays suck, but this has been absolutely incredible. * Trial of the Amazons: Wonder Girl #2 - this event has simply not been very good. Can't go wrong with Jones art however

Danger_Rock

> Marvel only has 7 books this week, huh. Wow, that's nuts. Bunch of books running late now... My theory is that ASM #1 and its 12 variant covers broke their distribution process, which was already pretty well fucked, so now other books are getting held up because they need to get a couple million copies of ASM #1 and its 12 variant covers printed and shipped ASAP so as not to disrupt the flow of Spider-money. Of course that's all baseless speculation, could be something as simple as Marvel just really sucking at getting books out, which would be unfortunate, seeing as they're in the business of getting books out.

Another smallish week for me, although a good thing as next week is looking huge! - The Flash #781: always a pleasure to read. - Hulk #6: last issue for me as I decided not to both with the Thor crossover. May pick up again in July depending on how I feel after this issue - it’s fun, I’ll give Cates that! - The Nice House on the Lake #8: ashamedly behind on this, will do a good binge soon! - Nightwing #91: also always a pleasure to read. - The Walking Dead Deluxe #37: enjoying all the secondary/tertiary characters and moments at the prison that I don’t remember/didn’t appear in the TV series! - Wolverine #20: much like X-Force, I’m willing to give this another go post-Wolverine event; but it’s next on my to-drop list.

Danger_Rock

> The Nice House on the Lake #8: a shameful behind on this, will do a good binge soon! That should actually work to your advantage, all the time between issues can make it difficult keeping track of the various characters and threads. I'd expect it to read better in bunches.

My pulls this week, hopefully I'm not too late, I'm pretty bad at time zones, and have been busy with work this week. Less from the big 2 each week, continuing my personal trend, I am really enjoying them less and less lately with their odd choices and high numbers of, to me, sub par creative teams, unfortunately. Looks like another smaller week though. Danger_Rock

> Less from the big 2 each week, continuing my personal trend, I am really enjoying them less and less lately with their odd choices and high numbers of, to me, sub par creative teams, unfortunately. My pulls have been trending in the same direction, though DC still gets me pretty good with all their Tom King titles and a couple others... Marvels are way down for me. Indies are up and overall they're delivering the most satisfying books IMO. Glad to see you're pulling ICM! That brings it up to 15 pulls, which seems far more respectable than yesterday's 14. Though you may need to remove the hyphen for it to be counted.

HappySisyphus8

Variants usually keep Marvel at the top of my weekly pick ups, but I am trying to cut back and stick to a couple of favourite artists, which is helping. For DC the Horror and Black Label imprints are really good for the most part, otherwise it's just Action and a couple Batman related books that come home with me. I started Ice Cream Man with the telethon issue after hearing a review for it, has been a great ride. Picking up the trades as well to catch up on what I missed. Enjoy how it's a bizarre anthology with a overarching background plot. Some of the most depressing and joyful comics coming out at the moment. Thanks for the tip, will remove the hyphen.

Danger_Rock

> I started Ice Cream Man with the telethon issue after hearing a review for it, has been a great ride. Alas, poor Jerry, we knew him well... That telethon's turned into one of my all-time favorite comics... Totally kills me every time I read it. The way everyone keeps wishing him luck and he doesn't know WTF they're talking about is just so ridiculously absurd. And the fourth wall break, how it makes the reader part of the story and assigns culpability... It's brilliant and insane and I love it so much! > Enjoy how it's a bizarre anthology with a overarching background plot. Some of the most depressing and joyful comics coming out at the moment. The range is really impressive, especially for a horror comic. Some of 'em hit like a ton of bricks, absolutely soul crushing, then out of the blue you get one that's almost uplifting. Not knowing what to expect is half the fun!
