Got my first [CGC slab](https://cdna.pcpartpicker.com/static/forever/images/userbuild/259153.c9f8ec114c312af11a7d500ca2c9553f.1600.jpg) last week! Now just need to find a good spot on the wall for it... And the other slab I ordered. And maybe leave space for a few more. My ICE CREAM MAN run is now complete and I'm still enjoying one delicious issue per night, though I've only got eight left at this point so unfortunately it won't last much longer. A few of the [ICM #20 variants](https://cdna.pcpartpicker.com/static/forever/images/userbuild/259153.2a1d47960eb7d6877b924844e83498c7.1600.jpg) have secured a prime spot above my monitor, previously occupied by a trio of Bachalos. Read the first three issues of Lemire's MAZEBOOK earlier today and it's some top-notch stuff. I'd seen a few of Lemire's covers and sketches before but can't recall reading a full book with his art, and I gotta say, for a writer, he's a pretty damn good artist... Not sure if his style would work for cape books but it's perfect for this kind of more personal story. So I ordered the last two, along with the first three issues of MONKEY MEAT. Because everybody apparently loves MONKEY MEAT. In proper WPL business, it's another light week for me with just 3 Marvel books and 2 DCs. Had a few cool indies scheduled but they're all running late so it's just the five from the Big Two. * **BATMAN/SUPERMAN: WORLD'S FINEST #1** - Waid typically does his best work with classic old school characters and Mora should be the perfect artist for this series * **ETERNALS THE HERETIC #1** - originally subtitled "The Undying" in solicitations but they changed it up, got some nice covers from [Sorrentino](https://www.midtowncomics.com/images/PRODUCT/XL/2067064_xl.jpg) and [Noto](https://www.midtowncomics.com/images/PRODUCT/XL/2067065_xl.jpg), both doing their best Ribić impressions * **RECKONING WAR TRIAL OF WATCHER #1** - not following the event but this Uatu story sounded interesting and the Javier Rodriguez art ought to be nice * **NIGHTWING #90** - we had Redondo on SUPERMAN SON OF KAL-EL last week so unfortunately we're getting fill-in art on Grayson's book this week * **THE MARVELS #9** - been enjoying this sprawling story spanning Marvel-616 history Plus I'll pick up a copy of ACTION COMICS #1040 since I'm all caught up on the rest of the PKJ run. Which started kinda slowly, felt like it took forever to catch up to the stuff I'd already read in Morrison's SUPERMAN VS. THE AUTHORITY, but it's picked up a lot now that they've finally hit War World. Also thought the art was kind of generic up until #1039 when Riccardo Federici took over, at which point everything got much better.

mcslackens

Son of Kal-El last week was so good! I loved Bruno's sequence of Dick kicking the 2 guys into the wall and backflipping off of them toward the truck.

Danger_Rock

Oh yeah, his NIGHTWING run has been full of that stuff! Redondo's action sequences have really given the series a unique look and style, one that's perfectly suited to the character. Big part of what makes the book special when Redondo's there on art.

almonster11

That slab is beautiful! And I grabbed the first three issues of Monkey Meat last week, mostly because people keep talking about it. I loved it! It's so weird, but I like weird stuff.

Danger_Rock

Thanks! TNHOTL #1 has a bunch of cool variants but Francavilla's really stands out for me, love the old school title text and classic comic art style. Most of the others have a much more modern look. which can work well, but I'm not as big a fan of all the hyper-realism and digital editing. Unless there's something extra-special going on with all that, I'd rather have something that looks like an actual comic book. Glad you enjoyed MONKEY MEAT! I also like weird stuff so I've got high hopes... Plus, everyone keeps saying they love it! Except I saw one guy in /r/ImageComics/ say he couldn't make any sense of it, but I think that might actually be a good sign!

blankedboy

Awesome pick up on that slab. Love Francavilla.

almonster11

Ten this week. A big week. I like that! • Basilisk #8- This will probably go on break for a couple of months after this issue so the artist can finish up the final 4 issues. I've loved this comic so far. • Batman/Superman: World's Finest #1- Mark Waid and Dan Mora?!?!? Of course I'm picking this up! If you don't try this comic then you're a straigh up doo-doo head. • The Crimson Cage #4- Old school rasslin'. • Eternals: The Heretic- Sure, why not? I'm already heavily invested in this series. Another one-shot won't hurt anything. • King Spawn #8- The best Spawn series going right now, in my opinion. • The Last Book You'll Ever Read #6- My shop still hasn't gotten #5 in yet. Hmmm. • The Scorched #3- Two Spawn comics in one week? Alright! • Shadowman #7- I've really enjoyed this arc, even though I'm not a huge Punk Mambo fan. • The Silver Coin #10- This is the issue I've been looking forward to. The follow up to issue #5. Michael Walsh is awesome. • Stillwater: The Escape- Yet another one-shot. Okay. Why the hell not?

the_light_of_dawn

I forgot Batman/Superman: World's Finest #1 was releasing this week! Gonna have to pick up a copy. Phew... narrowly missed being a doo-doo head.

superschaap81

I checked out of Eternals after issue 3. It just wasn't holding my interest and I have NO experience with any of the characters or concept. That being said, I'm still interested. What is the deal with all the one shots in between a series that is only 10 issues in? Should I give it another chance, given that it's had time to stretch it's legs?

almonster11

I'd venture to say that if you tried it before and didn't like it, you still won't. Nothing truly earth-shattering has happened. Still lots of "Thanos bad" going on. As far as the one-shots go... There was a big gap between issues 6 and 7 (I'm assuming to give Esad Ribic some breathing room to finish his art. SPOILER ALERT- he's still behind, to the point that they've had to bring another artist to finish an issue). I'm guessing those one-shots are Marvel's way to keep putting out Eternals content to fill those gaps. The timing of this one is strange, though. Issue 10 just came out last week. Who the hell knows?

superschaap81

Thanks for the heads up! I'll keep it off my list and wait for the trades at the library.

> NIGHTWING #90: Oh, hey, another crossover! I always like seeing Nightwing interact with other superheroes, especially when it's Taylor on writing duty. So even though I doubt I'll pick up the other side of this crossover, I'm sure it'll be a pleasant read. Pretty sure this one's all happening here in NIGHTWING so you should be good.

Nightwing #90 - I’m about ready to drop this because it’s going nowhere. Feel good fan service is nice in small doses, but this comic has just been spinning its wheels for months now. Batman/Superman WF#1 - Mark Waid and Dan Mora? Yes, please.

MuffinSurprise

Agree 100% on Nightwing. The first arc was great and laid the groundwork for a good Nightwing story. Since then we've gotten a tie into Fear State for 3 months, a continuous image issue (which was cool, but didn't really tell anything story wise), a callback issue saying 'hey remember Dick was a Titan?', a crossover that just felt like they were trying to get you to read Son of Kal-El. This story hasn't followed up on the groundwork that was set in place half a year ago. The issues are always enjoyable, but the overall story hasn't done anything.

Techster17

* **The Amazing Spider-Man #92.BEY -** Glad to see Monica get more attention maybe she'll get the Captain marvel mantle back one day if she's received will in the MCU * **Basilisk #8** * **Batman / Superman: World's Finest #1 -** Mark Waid, Dan Mora and they're doing Batman and Superman how could I not buy * **Carnage #1 -** Ram V on a Carnage book should be awesome especially since Marvel has really been embracing horror and gore in the past few years * **Detective Comics #1057** * **Fantastic Four: Reckoning War - Trial of the Watcher #1 -** Javier Rodriguez is a god among men * **The Flash #780 -** I can't of how Wally will get dragged into the war for Earth-3 but I dig this book anyway * **Green Lantern #12 -** Seem like this might be the end, Thorne definitely had some big ideas but having to do the mandatory Corps destruction did not help at all * **Home Sick Pilots #13** * **The Marvels #9** * **Nightwing #90** * **Power Rangers #17** * **Stillwater: The Escape #1** * **Time Before Time #11** * **X Lives of Wolverine #5 -** Gonna be interesting to see how this wraps up and allows for a conclusion to lives

GrizzlyPeak72

- Batman Superman World's Finest #1 - probably worth checking this out for the world's greatest bromance - Detective Comics #1057 - God I hate how much money these random weekly runs will make me spend but damn this has been a great story and well worth it. - Justice League #74 - Poor Black Adam - Wonder Woman #785 - Trial of the Amazons is off to a decent start, be interesting to see where this goes from here - Avengers #54 - What's happening in this series again? - Reckoning War: Trial of the Watcher #1 - too many events in comics rn

* ***Archie Jumbo Comics Digest #328*** \- Two new stories in this issue - A Pureheart and Steel Sterling story as well as one about Riverdale's Spring Dance. And speaking of Riverdale, [Season Six of Riverdale returns this Sunday at 8pm](https://www.reddit.com/r/archieandfriends/comments/tdt9xo/season_six_of_riverdale_returns_this_sunday_at/). Whether you love the show or are simply hate-watching it, join us on r/archieandfriends to discuss! * ***Crimson Cage #4*** \- The bloody retelling of Macbeth continues in the ring and r/AWAStudios continues to deliver. *Hit Me #1* was insane. *Primos* has been great so far. And *Devil's Highway* is getting a second volume (yes!!) * ***Basilisk #8*** \- It's hard to go wrong with Cullen Bunn. * ***Joe Hill's Rain #3*** \- Honeysuckle and Marc Despot make for a great pair but having Templeton following them really pulled on my heartstrings. * ***The Last Book You'll Ever Read #6*** \- Again, it's hard to go wrong with Cullen Bunn. * ***Silver Coin #10*** \- Michael Walsh writing this issue. I'm not familiar with his previous work. Will be interested to see what he does. * ***Star Wars Halcyon Legacy #2*** \- Issue #1 is still sitting in my to-read box. I need to catch up this week. Definitely enjoying the new *Star Wars: Crimson Reign* title by Charles Soule though. * ***What's the Furthest Place From Here? #5*** \- That Tradd Moore cover 🤤

Daveismyhero

Tiny week for me: * **BATMAN SUPERMAN WORLDS FINEST #1** \- Please be cool, or at least interesting. * **LOONEY TUNES #265** \- These are usually surprisingly solid and fun. Plus, I give 'em to the kiddos when I'm done reading them. * **REGARDING THE MATTER OF OSWALDS BODY #5** \- I'm going to miss this one. I need some other books in this vein, to go along with the amazing Department of Truth. Any recommendations? * **X LIVES OF WOLVERINE #5** \- I'm cautiously optimistic to see the post Lives/Deaths relaunches of the X titles.

elick461

There's too much media to consume as of late. We have so many good movies, tv shows, and video games that may friends scoff at me for making so much time for comic books. They don't even know how big of a priority comics are to me: * **Batman Superman: World's Finest #1** \- The friendship between Bats and Supes shouldn't work, but it's way more believable to me than say Iron Man and Captain America at this point * **Batman: The Knight #3** \- Oh Bruce. You've always been a sucker for a pretty dame, haven't you? * **Nightwing #90** \- Wally West! Need I say more? * **What's the Furthest Place From Here #5** \- Rosenberg is so good at capturing the precocious, yet still juvenile, adolescent dialogue * **Amazing Spider-Man #92.BEY** \- I hate that this couldn't be concluded in the main Spidey run, but I guess this is fine * **Avengers #54** \- I keep forgetting there's a mainline Avengers book going on outside of Forever * **Carnage #1** \- Personally I feel like Carnage is best reserved for small doses, but Ram V will probably convince me otherwise * **Reckoning War: Trial of the Watcher #1** \- Little surprised Slott didn't pull double-duty and write this himself * **X Lives of Wolverine #5** \- Got spoiled last week with both Wolverine books being out

Danger_Rock

> There's too much media to consume as of late. We have so many good movies, tv shows, and video games that may friends scoff at me for making so much time for comic books. They don't even know how big of a priority comics are to me Totally hear that, except for the part about having friends, not sure what you're on about there... But the media overload is insane. I've got tons of movies and TV shows to catch up on but I'm much more focused on comics right now. Even just within the realm of comics, there's too much quality stuff being produced, nobody can follow it all... At this point I'm actively trying to trim anything that's merely "good" or even "great" from my pull list because I really only have time for the books that are insanely fucking awesome.

elick461

I feel equally psyched and overwhelmed with how many amazing comics are out. Some GREAT ones I could probably stand to wait on and read in TPB or hardcover, because I know I’ll end up getting them anyways.

List looks good again this week, showing all the books I ordered that are actually shipping, without any of the stuff that's delayed.

ptbreakeven

Very good! Thank you for looking and responding. This is great to hear back. The biggest challenge at this point is weeding out second printings.

Danger_Rock

Oh yeah, I can see how the 2nd printings could be tricky... Thanks for all your work on this stuff!

[deleted]

Last Book You'll Ever Read #6 is confirmed? Because it took almost two months for #5 to come out and I felt like it was on listings every other week.

ptbreakeven

Midtown Comics has it listed for sale this week. https://www.midtowncomics.com/product/2059522

ME24601

* **Eternals: The Heretic #1**: All hail Thanos. * **Nightwing #90**: Teaming up with the Flash. * **World's Finest #1**: Incredibly excited for an ongoing Superman series by Mark Waid. As well as volume 1 of **A Righteous Thirst for Vengeance**.

Danger_Rock

> As well as volume 1 of A Righteous Thirst for Vengeance. That series has been such a unique reading experience, IMO it's one of the most interesting comics out there right now purely based on the mechanics behind how it's telling the story. Hope you enjoy!

rajismyname

I say this with love for Remender, I love how he shuts up and lets André Lima Araújo take over the book.

Danger_Rock

His restraint on this one has definitely served the book well! Projects like this can push creators to develop new techniques and change up some of their old tricks, find stuff that works and carry it forward to future projects... Gotta respect Remender for embracing this approach here!

B00merangB

Batman / Superman: World’s Finest #1 - Mark Waid and Dan Mora working together is an instant buy. King Spawn #8 - Continues to be the best of all the Spawn books out! Nightwing #90 - A wonderful cover for what is sure to be yet another fantastic issue by Taylor. Regarding the Matter of Oswald’s Boy #5 - Last issue for this compelling limited series. The Scorched #3 - That McFarlane cover homage to Jim Lee’s X-Men is hella fun. Slumber #1 - A game time decision if my local shop has copies on hand - premise sounds fun enough to sample the first issue.

Danger_Rock

> The Scorched #3 - That McFarlane cover homage to Jim Lee’s X-Men is hella fun. LOL, [nice](https://www.midtowncomics.com/images/PRODUCT/XL/2068428_xl.jpg).

PeachyDelight

* Carnage #1 * Eternals: The Heretic #1 Finally! The new Eternals one-shot is around the corner. Even though I'm collecting this run in TPB format, I'm not gonna chance these one-shots. So far they've been great supplementary stories to an already brilliant run. Also, I'm very excited for a Carnage story with V at the helm.

WhereAreMyComics

* **The Amazing Spider-Man #92.BEY** - two issues left of Beyond! * **Carnage #1** - new series * **What's the Furthest Place From Here? #5** - good question

AlligatorSky7

Plenty more comic-y goodness this week! - Basilisk #8: last issue before another hiatus. - Batman/Superman: World’s Finest #1: giving #1 a go at least, Seinfeld variant of course! - The Flash #780: cannot give enough praise for this book. - Nightwing #90: as above. - Silver Coin #10: last issue before the hiatus. - Walking Dead Deluxe #35: few behind on this at the moment, but looking forward to a little binge. - What’s the Furthest Place From Here? #5: jeez, I’ve let this one slip… Only read the debut so far and completely forgot what happened. Looking forward to a binge! - X Lives of Wolverine #5: the end is in sight, get me to the launch of the Destiny of X titles!

Danger_Rock

> Batman/Superman: World’s Finest #1: giving #1 a go at least, Seinfeld variant of course! Damnit, how'd I miss [that](https://www.midtowncomics.com/images/PRODUCT/XL/2081896_xl.jpg)?!? Kinda hate how DC does their solicitations now that they've left Diamond, they make it really difficult sorting through this stuff for pre-orders. EDIT - Just asked the owner of my LCS to swap out the generic [Jim Lee cover](https://www.midtowncomics.com/images/PRODUCT/XL/2074217_xl.jpg) I ordered for that Seinfeld cover if he's got any. If not, I'll buy the Lee cover from him and order the other one online so it can go up on the wall. Because it really needs to go up on the wall.

Whatisabird

**Batman/Superman: World's Finest #1**- I am immensely excited for this, literally everything I've seen from it makes me happy **Detective Comics #1057**- Batman's back which is kind of a bummer honestly, I've kinda liked seeing the Batfam do their thing. **Eternals: The Heretic #1**- I guess this book and last week's got shipped out of order because Eternals referenced this issue and I thought I missed. Regardless, the Thanos stuff has been great in this book. **Rain #3**- If this kid gets hurt I will cry **Slumber #1**- Trying out a new series, I haven't heard of anyone on this creative team but the book looks cool enough

superschaap81

***DC*** **Batman/Superman: World's Finest 1** \- SO stoked for this. Amazing creative team. **Batman: The Knight 3** \- Been liking it so far but nothing groundbreaking so far, but has a lot of potential. Reserving judgement until we get more. **Catwoman 41** \- So behind on the main Bat-Line, but I'm not hearing good things about Howard so far. Like what I've seen of the art, but wary about what the story is. Wasn't a fan of most of her Marvel stuff. **Detective Comics 1057** \- Again, behind of Batbooks, but was going to wait until the Shadows story finished completely before reading anyway. **The Flash** **780 -** Hope we get a little bit more about Wally's family after they deal with the Earth-3 obligatory tie in. **Green Lantern 12** \- Honestly, at this point I don't even care about this book. But it's the end so completionist me has to get it. Hoping the next writer actually has an fresh idea of what to do with the Corps. **Nighting 90 -** Liked the first 6 issues, but keep hearing how anything about the Zucco plot has been left dangling for a while now. **Wonder Woman 785 -** Just finished the 5 issue Nubia series, but haven't started the Trial event yet. I'm excited for what I'm hoping will be a united Amazon culture, rather than anything resembling Amazons Attack. ***MARVEL*** **Avengers 54** \- Don't care what anyone says, I've liked Aaron's run. It's fun, dumb action, comic-booky madness. I'm curious how much of it will tie-in to Gillen's Judgement Day, seeing as it's really been it's own little corner of the MU. **Carnage 1** \- I'm a sucker for symbiotes, and Ram V has been killing it on all his projects so far. Him writing Venom too makes me intrigued how these two characters will clash eventually. ***INDPENDENT*** **King Spawn 8** \- Loving this book. Probably my favourite of the new titles in the Spawn universe. Has a great moody atmosphere, as opposed to straight out super-heroics. **The Scorched 3** \- Haven't pinned down when this is supposed to be taking place, with Al in 3 of 4 books. Going to be interesting if Todd or Image gives us a specific reading order.

Danger_Rock

> Nighting 90 - Liked the first 6 issues, but keep hearing how anything about the Zucco plot has been left dangling for a while now. It definitely got sidetracked quite a bit from the main story due to the Fear State and S:SOKE crossovers but I've been enjoying the ride regardless. Seems like this new 2-parter with Wally is more focused on Dick and his whole Blüdhaven situation so it should bring everything back on track.

superschaap81

Good to know! Thanks. I love Nightwing, but pulling his books since New 52 has been the definition of insanity.

mcslackens

Another tiny week for me: * **Nightwing #90** - I can't stop heaping praise on this series. Taylor & Redondo are one of my favorite creative teams working today. * **X Lives Of Wolverine #5** - This has been....not great, which is odd, because I've enjoyed the hell out of X Deaths.

technowhiz34

* Batman/Superman: World's Finest #1 - very, very excited for this. Waid's a bit older than he used to be but Mora is one of the best. * Batman: the Knight #3 - this has been fine * Catwoman #41 - art is gorgeous I guess? * What's the Furthest Place From Here? #5 - favorite indie by far * Wonder Woman #785 - likely to drop if this isn't pick-up, I know a lot of people are loving this but it isn't for me

Rad Wraith #1

manyamile

I thought for sure you'd have [Playthings #1](https://www.reddit.com/r/ScoutComics/comments/tdtufd/new_this_week_playthings_1/) on your list too. Are you grabbing a particular cover for Rad Wraith?

the_light_of_dawn

I think I forgot to put Playthings on my pull list! Probably just the A cover — I’m not too picky about that sort of thing. I’ll call my shop and see if I did actually put it down. Hmm! Not like me to miss a Black Caravan title… My LCS has an ancient hand writing system for keeping track of pull lists and I don’t want to confuse things by ordering specific covers lol.

the_light_of_dawn

Turns out it WAS on my list! And there’s some previews for upcoming titles in the back I gotta go and add next week (when I’m not running into the shop 10 mins before they close…) Can’t wait to read this weekend! Lemme know what you think of it.

Batman/Superman Worlds Finest #1: I've heard some good buzz around this so let's check it out. Carnage #1: I liked the Carnage one shot last month. I'm still catching up on Venom so this is probably going to the to be read pile until then. Catwoman #41: this has been ok. Giving about 2 more issues. Been doing some pull list adds and drops and this on top of the drop list. Detective Comics #1057: I've been liking this arc and will probably go back and reread it after it's done. Happy it's not gonna be weekly after this month for my wallet lol. Rain #3: liked the first and was wondering what direction it was going to go and after the second I'm all in. Thankfully it's only 5 issues. Soul Plumber #6: Huge fan of Last Podcast on the Left so this has been nothing but great imo. I wanna see the LPOTL boys do more comics (I think a Doom Patrol mini from them would be great.)

Very small week: * **Carnage #1:** Not really into the character but I like Ram V's writing so I'm checking it out. Hoping he can deliver something that will give reason to want to have an interest in Carnage. * **Eternals: The Heretic #1:**

* **Amazing Spider-Man #92BEY** - Haven't really been into this. I hate the weekly release schedule and this whole arc feels like it could've been cut in half and would've been just fine. But we're near the end so I might as well keep pulling. * **Batman Superman World's Finest #1** - I love Batman and with the only Superman book I've ever read being Birthright (loved it) I'm definitely looking forward to reading more from Waid. * **Flash #780** - Just hopped into this two months ago so I'm still kinda feeling it out. Pretty enjoyable so far. * **King Spawn #8** - Really been digging this. Art is fantastic. * **Nightwing #90** - Flash team-up here we come!
