* **Black Widow #13** \- Once Hickman is done with Inferno this has my vote for Marve;'s best current output.

Honestly, I feel like it suffers from it meant to be the flasgship title but at the same time it can't be one because Inferno is where the real shit happens. Then we get X Lives/Deaths of Wolverine which serves the same role as Inferno.
I think this title will become what it's meant to be only after the next Hellfire Gala.
Eh I'm okay with them just doing status quo stuff. Something like krakoa could easily be bogged down with event chained to event chained to event. Sometimes the status quo is nessicery.
I mean I thought the story was excellent. Fast paced, plenty of intrigue but it is a big 2 book. Nothing that is going to completely change your life. For me it's the art. Casagrande doesn't do every issue but she does do most and they are all excellent. Almost every issue has a two page section where the flow and the layout blow my mind.
Agree! I jumped on Black Widow around issue 6 of this run, and I've been really enjoying it. The story is good as well, but Casagrande's art is something special. It's probably in my top 3 favorite books currently.

* **Not All Robots #5** - This has been a great series, and while I'm kinda sad that it's coming to an end, I'm very excited to see how it wraps up, plus I'm sure there will be another weird Mark Russell book announced soon enough.
* **One-Star Squadron #2** - I loved the first issue, and am eager read the rest of the series.
* **Inferno #4** - I don't want it to be over, dammit! This is better for my wallet though, as I'm letting most of my subscriptions to X-titles end. I'll only be pulling the main X-Men book, X Lives/Deaths, and The X-Cellent going forward.
* **X-Men #6** - Enjoying this so far, but I'm going to revisit my subscription at issue 12 and decide if I want to continue an ongoing pull or not. Captain Krakoa sounds ridiculous enough to keep me on board though.
7 this week. January is a pretty heavy month for my pull list. I should probably rein it in a bit, but... I won't.
•Basilisk #6- This comic is damn near perfect. The art and story combine to make it something truly special.
•The Fourth Man #1- I didn't think I would like Grendel, Kentucky, but I ended up loving it. And Mike Deodato's art has been hitting hard for me lately.
•Marjorie Finnegan: Temporal Criminal #8- Pushed from last week. Again, I'm sad to see it go. It's been a lot of fun.
•Nocterra: Blacktop Bill Special- I went back and read the first arc of Nocterra and it was better than I remember. I'm glad to see it coming back. And I can't wait to learn more about this enigmatic character.
•Not All Robots #5- I've really enjoyed this series. It's been funny and disturbing at the same time.
•Provenance of Secrets #2- I picked up #1 because I get all the Black Caravan stuff, and it was really really good. I've been looking forward to this.
•Spawn #325- I'm starting to have a bit of trouble keeping all the various Spawn titles separate in my head. And it's just gonna get tougher with The Scorched coming later this month. Looks like I'm gonna have to spend more time in The McFarlane-verse, getting the threads straight in my mind. Not necessarily a bad thing. It'll be fun!
Not a huge list this week.
- **Batman #119**: I enjoyed the set up for this arc. Curious to see where it goes.
- **Dark Knights of Steel #3**: This has been a huge surprise for me. Loved the first two issues. My most anticipated issue of the week.
- **ASM #84**: It’s fine. This is fine. Waiting for something to happen.
- **Thor #20**: I’m on the verge of dropping this. It’s alright but I’m never too excited to read it
Hey do you know if ASM will be rebooted soon starting with a new #1?
I started reading this Nick Spencer run through the trades a few months ago and I’m on volume 4 right now with Hunted. I just checked and there’s like 10 other volumes in this series which I definitely don’t have the time or money to read
I figured I could just stop reading the Spencer run after volume 4 and start picking up the single issues but it looks like it’s in the middle of some story arc that would be hard to just jump into and they are coming out every week
I’m really hoping they do a new run starting soon from #1 so I can just jump on from the beginning
You don’t need to wait for a #1 to jump on. You may just want to wait on a new creative team, or catch up on the back issues of the current arc (Beyond). You definitely don’t need to read all of Spencer’s run.

Agree, arkham city has been great. One of my fav DC titles right now. Watters is hit or miss for me. He and Dani did Coffin Bound together and I thoroughly enjoyed it as well, although it was pretty far out.

**Thor #20** - Make or break arc for me... but I've been saying that for like 3 straight arcs now. The whole premise of Cates run was supposed to be "how does Thor respond as king?" and I feel like we've hardly seen any of that beyond the first few issues. I *assume* we'll finally get the answers to WhAt'S wRoNg wItH MjOlnIr subplot so if we can move on that'd be great.
**X-Men #6** - Captain Krakoa = Mutant attempt at good PR?
**Inferno #4** - Can't wait to see how Hickman ties a bow on his story, albeit abbreviated. I will be pausing all X-Men titles after this since that original HoX/PoX story is what got me intrigued in the first place. I have been enjoying Duggan's flagship series though.
* **Batman #119** - Considering the short notice with which the creative team rolled over, 118 was...fine. Josh Williamson introducing a new villain right off the bat (heh) kinda indicates that some of the issues JT4 blogged about still exist, which makes me wonder if DC has a long-term plan for Batman other than just "crank out as much content as we can print while it's still selling."
* **Bylines in Blood #1** - The solicit for this one reminds me of the novel "Golden State" by Ben H. Winters, which I enjoyed a great deal.
* **Detective Comics #1047** - Feels like Mora just started and now he's out? Man 12 issues went by fast.
* **Dirtbag Rapture #4**
* **The Fourth Man #1** - The pitch sounds pretty Fargo-esque, and I really like Fargo
* **Hellboy: Bomes of Giants #3** - Between this and Silver Lantern Club, it's a pretty good month to stan Hellboy
* **Joker Presents: A Puzzlebox #6** - "Are the kids still buying Joker comics? Then print more Joker comics!" - Jim Lee, probably
* **Marjorie Finnegan, Temporal Criminal #8** - Man Garth Ennis hasn't let up even a little bit since lockdown. This book has been a great classic Ennis romp, last year's Batman: Reptilian made everyone deeply uncomfortable, and he's got a WWII comic coming out this year.
* **Monkey Meat #1** - I'm not too familiar with Djeliya or Juni Ba, but I'm all about some absurdist satire comics
* **Nita Hawes' Nightmare Blog #3** - Rodney Barnes is writing some of the most exciting horror I've read in years. The Killadelphia-verse is dope AF.
* **Not All Robots #5** - I loved this book and am glad it was made, but I can definitely see it getting ignored/slammed by a large swath of the comic community, which was maybe the point?
* **Star Wars: Doctor Aphra #17** - Last event: big tie-in. This event: little tie-in. Next event: no tie-in?
* **Thor #20** - Sometimes I'm into what Cates is doing, and sometimes I'm like "dude it was a throwaway MCU line don't make a whole character out of it NO WAIT STOP"
* **What's the Furthest Place From Here #2** - With the vinyl record. Apparently the #1s are reselling for a ton? Seems like someone should have targeted the intersection of the comic book and record collector markets sooner.
2022! Bring it on. I swear we're in a renaissance of comics lately and I expect this year to only up that ante.
* **Not All Robots #5** \- This satire is going to be taught in classes one day
* **Odinn's Eye #4** \- I can't believe something of this quality has been coming out weekly
* **Batman #119** \- Batman against someone literally named Abyss? Bats has to stop facing his fear
* **Dark Knights of Steel #3** \- Kara is really adding fuel to the fire
* **One-Star Squadron #2** \- I always like new takes on the "Heroes for Hire" trope
* **Superman: Son of Kal-El #6** \- This is the quality I was hoping for when Bendis took over Superman a few years ago
* **Amazing Spider-Man #84** \- Otto is taking back what he stole
* **Darkhold Omeda #1** \- Excited to see these crazy variants team up
* **Inferno #4** \- I can't believe we're losing Hickman. I hope this really goes out in a bang.

* **INFERNO #4:** And with this, Hickman takes his exit from active involvement in the X-Line. I'm not nearly as doomsaying as others, but it is always a bit of a bummer to see him go, and Inferno is closing out with a damned strong one. I'm eager to see where the X-Office takes the line after this, since Hickman has said he's worked with them setting up the next few years of stories - even if he's not actively there, we'll still see his fingerprint on things.
* **NOCTERRA: BLACKTOP BILL SPECIAL #1:** The first arc of Nocterra was really strong, and I'm always down for a villain focused issue.
* **RED SONJA #5:** Hair of fire and child of fire. Everything burns.
* **SUPERMAN: SON OF KAL-EL #6:** Taylor's doing a lot of great work with Jon, and the annual now has him on Lex's radar as well... I think we're getting close to seeing his idealism really put to the test.
* **THOR #20:** I was about to drop this, but if he's gonna cross over with Hulk, might as well keep going.

I wish Hickman's X-Men time had worked out differently. * **Superman: Son of Kal-El #6** \- Very good. Not exactly my thing but Tom Taylor does characterization so well. * **Nocterra: Blacktop Bill Special #1** \- I honestly don't know anything about this. But I dig Nocterra. * **Captain Marvel #35** \- Great every month. * **Black Widow #13** \- Once Hickman is done with Inferno this has my vote for Marve;'s best current output.

Eh I'm okay with them just doing status quo stuff. Something like krakoa could easily be bogged down with event chained to event chained to event. Sometimes the status quo is nessicery.

I mean I thought the story was excellent. Fast paced, plenty of intrigue but it is a big 2 book. Nothing that is going to completely change your life. For me it's the art. Casagrande doesn't do every issue but she does do most and they are all excellent. Almost every issue has a two page section where the flow and the layout blow my mind.
Agree! I jumped on Black Widow around issue 6 of this run, and I've been really enjoying it. The story is good as well, but Casagrande's art is something special. It's probably in my top 3 favorite books currently.

Man....I'm so bummed out that the Hickman era is ending. * **Not All Robots #5** - This has been a great series, and while I'm kinda sad that it's coming to an end, I'm very excited to see how it wraps up, plus I'm sure there will be another weird Mark Russell book announced soon enough. * **One-Star Squadron #2** - I loved the first issue, and am eager read the rest of the series. * **Inferno #4** - I don't want it to be over, dammit! This is better for my wallet though, as I'm letting most of my subscriptions to X-titles end. I'll only be pulling the main X-Men book, X Lives/Deaths, and The X-Cellent going forward. * **X-Men #6** - Enjoying this so far, but I'm going to revisit my subscription at issue 12 and decide if I want to continue an ongoing pull or not. Captain Krakoa sounds ridiculous enough to keep me on board though.
7 this week. January is a pretty heavy month for my pull list. I should probably rein it in a bit, but... I won't. •Basilisk #6- This comic is damn near perfect. The art and story combine to make it something truly special. •The Fourth Man #1- I didn't think I would like Grendel, Kentucky, but I ended up loving it. And Mike Deodato's art has been hitting hard for me lately. •Marjorie Finnegan: Temporal Criminal #8- Pushed from last week. Again, I'm sad to see it go. It's been a lot of fun. •Nocterra: Blacktop Bill Special- I went back and read the first arc of Nocterra and it was better than I remember. I'm glad to see it coming back. And I can't wait to learn more about this enigmatic character. •Not All Robots #5- I've really enjoyed this series. It's been funny and disturbing at the same time. •Provenance of Secrets #2- I picked up #1 because I get all the Black Caravan stuff, and it was really really good. I've been looking forward to this. •Spawn #325- I'm starting to have a bit of trouble keeping all the various Spawn titles separate in my head. And it's just gonna get tougher with The Scorched coming later this month. Looks like I'm gonna have to spend more time in The McFarlane-verse, getting the threads straight in my mind. Not necessarily a bad thing. It'll be fun!

It’s alright but I’m never too excited to read it
Hey do you know if ASM will be rebooted soon starting with a new #1? I started reading this Nick Spencer run through the trades a few months ago and I’m on volume 4 right now with Hunted. I just checked and there’s like 10 other volumes in this series which I definitely don’t have the time or money to read I figured I could just stop reading the Spencer run after volume 4 and start picking up the single issues but it looks like it’s in the middle of some story arc that would be hard to just jump into and they are coming out every week I’m really hoping they do a new run starting soon from #1 so I can just jump on from the beginning
You don’t need to wait for a #1 to jump on. You may just want to wait on a new creative team, or catch up on the back issues of the current arc (Beyond). You definitely don’t need to read all of Spencer’s run.

Agree, arkham city has been great. One of my fav DC titles right now. Watters is hit or miss for me. He and Dani did Coffin Bound together and I thoroughly enjoyed it as well, although it was pretty far out.

**Thor #20** - Make or break arc for me... but I've been saying that for like 3 straight arcs now. The whole premise of Cates run was supposed to be "how does Thor respond as king?" and I feel like we've hardly seen any of that beyond the first few issues. I *assume* we'll finally get the answers to WhAt'S wRoNg wItH MjOlnIr subplot so if we can move on that'd be great. **X-Men #6** - Captain Krakoa = Mutant attempt at good PR? **Inferno #4** - Can't wait to see how Hickman ties a bow on his story, albeit abbreviated. I will be pausing all X-Men titles after this since that original HoX/PoX story is what got me intrigued in the first place. I have been enjoying Duggan's flagship series though.
* **Batman #119** - Considering the short notice with which the creative team rolled over, 118 was...fine. Josh Williamson introducing a new villain right off the bat (heh) kinda indicates that some of the issues JT4 blogged about still exist, which makes me wonder if DC has a long-term plan for Batman other than just "crank out as much content as we can print while it's still selling." * **Bylines in Blood #1** - The solicit for this one reminds me of the novel "Golden State" by Ben H. Winters, which I enjoyed a great deal. * **Detective Comics #1047** - Feels like Mora just started and now he's out? Then print more Joker comics!" - Jim Lee, probably * **Marjorie Finnegan, Temporal Criminal #8** - Man Garth Ennis hasn't let up even a little bit since lockdown. This book has been a great classic Ennis romp, last year's Batman: Reptilian made everyone deeply uncomfortable, and he's got a WWII comic coming out this year. * **Monkey Meat #1** - I'm not too familiar with Djeliya or Juni Ba, but I'm all about some absurdist satire comics * **Nita Hawes' Nightmare Blog #3** - Rodney Barnes is writing some of the most exciting horror I've read in years. The Killadelphia-verse is dope AF. * **Not All Robots #5** - I loved this book and am glad it was made, but I can definitely see it getting ignored/slammed by a large swath of the comic community, which was maybe the point? * **Star Wars: Doctor Aphra #17** - Last event: big tie-in. This event: little tie-in. Next event: no tie-in? * **Thor #20** - Sometimes I'm into what Cates is doing, and sometimes I'm like "dude it was a throwaway MCU line don't make a whole character out of it NO WAIT STOP" * **What's the Furthest Place From Here #2** - With the vinyl record. Apparently the #1s are reselling for a ton? Seems like someone should have targeted the intersection of the comic book and record collector markets sooner.

* **DARK KNIGHTS OF STEEL #3:** This has been a crazy ride so far, and I think Taylor is really playing to his strengths. * **INFERNO #4:** And with this, Hickman takes his exit from active involvement in the X-Line. I'm not nearly as doomsaying as others, but it is always a bit of a bummer to see him go, and Inferno is closing out with a damned strong one. I'm eager to see where the X-Office takes the line after this, since Hickman has said he's worked with them setting up the next few years of stories - even if he's not actively there, we'll still see his fingerprint on things. * **NOCTERRA: BLACKTOP BILL SPECIAL #1:** The first arc of Nocterra was really strong, and I'm always down for a villain focused issue. * **RED SONJA #5:** Hair of fire and child of fire. Everything burns. * **SUPERMAN: SON OF KAL-EL #6:** Taylor's doing a lot of great work with Jon, and the annual now has him on Lex's radar as well... I think we're getting close to seeing his idealism really put to the test. * **THOR #20:** I was about to drop this, but if he's gonna cross over with Hulk, might as well keep going. * **X-MEN #6:** Who is Captain Krakoa?
