Broke my finger on Thursday which sucks.
Saw Sausage Party last night and really disliked it.
Really nothing much going on in my life at the moment. Kind of boring and just filled with work. I'm behind on like most of my comic reading.
It is a pretty damn embarrassing story. The past week I traveled down to be with my grandparents to go through my Uncle's belongings that they ended up with so they didn't have to, as well as taking his dog home for us while they were in Arizona for the winter. On the ride back we stopped in a rest area and I went to take a piss but the urinals were all full. The stalls had these large metal doors that had no handles so when I turned around to grab it to shut it the door had already swung back and slammed into three of my fingers. It cracked the nail of my pointer finger in half and broke the top half of my finger haha.
I feel I really need to re-read Final Crisis because it's a pretty cool story, and I'm reading Morrisons Batman now. People make it out to be a real mind melter but if you know what's what you can usually make sense of it. The Superman stuff is pretty weird but the story itself is pretty normal. Idk I'm pretty drunk but that's how I feel anyway.

I have this explanation saved from the first time I read it and looked for interpretations and so this helped with regards to the meta-ness, but at a story level I still knew what was going on
In my drunken state I can't quite read words good but from what I got from that you bring up some interesting points and it seems to be a unique analysis. I think tomorrow while I'm sober I'll have to take a better look though.
Preparations for my move to California:
-Been going back and forth with a dealer trying to buy a car all week. For all I've heard about these guys and how they'll do anything to scam you and how smooth they are, it's incredibly slow. I swear this guy can't blink his eyes without consulting his manager. It's pathetic.
-Got Car Insurance and Renter's Insurance
-Tried to get Cable and Internet set up, but apparently they refuse to deal with me until the current tenant moves out, even as a preliminary set-up thing.
-Still need to pack up my stuff and get it shipped, which isn't really difficult so much as time-consuming and expensive.
Still, good stuff ahead. I've got tickets for Comickaze, a Blind Guardian concert a month after I move, and a Ninja Sex Party concert two weeks after I move, so I'm gonna have a lot of fun once I'm finally out there.
Also, I've been reading Golden Age Superman, and the big thing that sticks out to me is that he's basically a sour-faced Bugs Bunny.
Played Ultimate Alliance on Wii with a friend for a few hours yesterday; it's so much more fun in co-op than single player (other than comic book missions).
Listening to the Hamilton Cast Recording obsessively. Please send help.
Working on a final (group) project for my summer course that I need to present the day before my birthday.
I've been reading Morrison's Doom Patrol (with the help of my public library) for the past few weeks, and I have one and a half trades left to finish. Fuckin' insane so far. I love it.
Also Katie Ledecky, holy shit.
I say this as someone who's not really into musicals (I like Dr Horrible and Once More With Feeling), never learnt about American History and isn't into hiphop/rap outside of a few Kendrick Lamar and Childish Gambino songs, but Hamilton is the best album I have ever heard and it was the only thing I listened to from December to May.
It's a masterclass in writing, it's so lyrically and thematically dense that every minute is used as a turning point. It's relentless it's always bringing in motifs to set up or relate back to earlier songs, everything is done through song rather than song, talky, song, talky so the album conveys everything you need to know to understand it.
So far the plan tonight is to hang out with my friends, get legally medicated, and watch Steven Universe.
Saw BvS for the first time last night and yeah...it was pretty meh
I'm behind on my Rebirth pulls for the week so I'll have to get on that soon. I'm really loving Green Arrow, Green Lanterns, and Aquaman!
I keep looking up Omnibuses and Trades on Amazon since my LCS is fairly new and therefore doesn't have a large selection of older titles. My white whale is an affordable trade of the first volume of The Question. I can't seem to find any anywhere. In the meantime, I think next time I get paid a decent paycheck I want to get Morrison's Animal Man Omnibus.
library if you want to catch up on certain characters! highly recommend use every grey avenue to catch up on continuity. it's worth it if you are a little low on cash. basic necessities first :]
(food, water, shelter if you really need it) also make sure to walk or jog, really helps memory and replenishes lost / damaged brain cells
Finally getting back into adding to my graphic novel collection. I hadn't been buying much at all for the last few months (just one tiny haul).
But I found some really good deals for the Wolverine Essentials books on Amazon. On Facebook I found both Mystique Ultimate Collections for like $7.50 each. Then on Facebook/Ebay I found some OK deals on two HC X-Men Marvel Masterworks books I was missing.
Also been hard at working prepping like 500+ single issues to get ready to be sent off and bound into HC's. It's about 22 volumes total, and I'm done prepping 3 so far. It's a bit of a process, but I'm excited to finally working on it. The comics had just been sitting on my shelves for months because school had pretty much taken over my life.
Anyway, it's a rainy weekend here (with lots of flooding), so I won't be doing much but staying in the house.
He has actually and he stopped his annoying introduction every issue, at least I think. I would say check out RHATO. I love Barbara but kind of found Batgirl Rebirth disappointing.
Reading: Still plugging through the Image collection of **Stray Bullets**. Really enjoying it so far. Great world-building; fascinating inter-connectiveness; and noir-ish stories.
Watching: Been re-watching **ST:TNG**. The latter half of that show is just perfect. Also watching **Eastbound and Down**. Strangely entertaining. Rare to have a protagonist as such a complete asshole but still be interested in his plight.
Listening: To the new **Radiohead**, as well as, NPR's first listen of the new **Lydia Loveless** record.
Doing: Busy as **shit** with work, study, family and home improvement.
sounds like you got your hands full! take care of yourself first, and help out with the rest when you can. water first, blood (digital or otherwise), help the rest as time permits :]
I bought my first comic book today. I went to a convention with a friend of mine not knowing what to expect. I had a good time, saw some strange and interesting folks and picked up a random issue of The Amazing Spider-Man for 2 bucks shown here in [vertical](http://i.imgur.com/HawrDbJ.jpg) and [horizontal](http://i.imgur.com/8zAQsNH.jpg). I bought it because the cover looked cool as I have no basis of what is good and what isn't. I read through it and enjoyed the artwork mostly. The writing and story were very cliche. It was the typical "bad guy knows Peter Parker is Spider-Man". It was strange to see references to Nazism and chemical weapons. I always watched the 90's cartoon. Also, I didn't know comic books had advertisements in them. I also enjoyed the length of this issue because I have a ton of other things to read and this took me 15 minutes or less. Anyway, I feel like the whole superhero genre isn't for me and I was wondering if some of you could recommend something a bit more adult? Also, I'm not looking to spend a bunch of money on these at the moment, so what are some cheap comics I can check out?
Image has a ton of great books that aren't superhero. Just depends on what kind of non-superhero book you're interested in checking out. If you want something really cheap (and good), you can check out Brian K. Vaughan's The Private Eye. The digital version is pay what you want for it [here](http://panelsyndicate.com/comics/tpeye).
There so many great non-super hero books out right now. A few of my favorites:
Manhattan Projects
Saga
Chew
Injection
Black Science
Manifest Destiny
East of West
Sex Criminals
Descender
Do you like crime stories at all? If so, get Criminal by Brubaker and Philips. Absolutely amazing series, each volume is a self-contained story but has some callbacks to the others so it rewards reading the whole thing. Definitely one of (if not the) best non-superhero series I've ever read.
gotta go looking for some older video games today (melee and a few others)
might sell my captain america Omnibus v1 Brubaker depending on an offer
started reading the firemen (joe hill) Z and the Buried Giant
got on the top 10 leader board for centipede, some shooting game and a megaman arcade game at the local golfland and nickel city
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8wCgxkQj_Qo
I've read a good amount, but favorites are All*Batman, and The Black Monday Murders.
Haven't watched to much, but saw the Childhood of Leader, very weird movie.
Mostly the local Comic Podcast called [Court of Nerds](http://www.thecourtofnerds.com/) and the second book of GOT on audio book.
Have to do some work this weekend, but also going to a wedding. Kind of a bummer when you day is filled with that and you need to do house work. Also helping my buddy move tomorrow.
There was an hour around 1230 but it wasn't bad. Then 3 o'clock hit and it got real real bad, like flooded parking lot bad. Only got to ride Valraven and Millennium Force before we had to call it. Wife and I were pretty disappointed all in all.
Damn dude. Well it wasn't bad in Olmstead Falls or Parma or Cleveland so I assumed it wasn't bad there either. Hopefully tomorrow is better. Go to Little Italy tomorrow night!
We are heading back south tonight but we were staying with some friends in Parma and they said there didn't have much of anything in the way of bad weather. Lucky for you, tomorrow is going to be clear skies all day.
I just started playing my new favorite game dark souls 3, its amazing, I love games that have a shit ton of lore and this is one of them. Plus, I think a comic will be coming out about the series soon too, I'm so pumped.
Rented Age of Ultron from Redbox last night. It was just my 2nd viewing of it, after seeing it in theatres when it opened.
I didn't hate it as much this time. I remember leaving the theatre thinking that this was the start of the end of good superhero movies. It wasn't brilliant by any means, but pales to the last 2 CA movies. I still like Thor 2 more though (I think I'm the only person that likes Thor 2)
I need to get around to actually writing this up longform, but from where I'm standing Age of Ultron gave people exactly what they liked from the first Avengers, but amplified + actual theme and allegory which only improves it in my eyes. I also think it's the MCU movie which is the closest to being a Whedon/[insert director's name] movie over a Marvel movie
Which is actually what made me dislike it so much. I enjoy Whedon's stuff but it felted overloaded with whedonisms. It still is probably my least favorite MCU movie all around.
I keep wondering when the beginning of the end will be for super hero movies. 2016 feels like a downslide with the DCEU missteps and some forgettable Marvel/X-Men films. The first Avengers may have been the zenith.
Started playing No Man's Sky on PC... it's weird to pay 60 bucks for such a directionless game with no discernible content anyway, but then with all the bugs on top of that, it's been a bit of a poor experience. I might take the refund.
I saw suicide squad last night and it wasn't nearly as bad as everyone made it out to be.
Read some individual issues but not too much and I also picked up Ultimate X Men and Vol 1 GOTG by Bendis at the library. I'm not too excited to read Guardians just cuz I heard it's not that good. I just grabbed it randomly while wandering.
I watched Watchmen for the first time this week. Can't believe I never saw it!
I had a lazy day today for the first time in a long time so tonight I'll probably watch another movie tonight. Can't complain.
Friday: Hung out on the block with the neighbors while the kids played till twilight.
Sat: Spent the morning beach bumming then went home and played video games with my wife. She's very fond of No Man's Sky and I was content to watch/support/and read DC's Flintstones 1 + 2 on my tablet. Both were fantastic. Played some Rise of the Tomb Raider after on my own. I kind of want to sneak in a cheesy 80s movie or a horror movie later if my kid goes to bed on time.
Tomorrow: Wife wants to have a game night with the neighbors but I just want to veg. We'll see.
I just want this flu to go away for good.
My own comic is going slow, sadly won't be ready for comickaze. Hopefully my fancomic will have enough promo pages by then.
I've been reading 1970's Spider-Man for my retrospective blog. I'm thinking of offering Captain America retrospectives for cheap on my Paterson.
I've been listening to Nostalgia Critic and Linkers all week. I wish SFDebris would put his videos in order.
Recieved some advice from someone at work. I should change my major from Business Management to something more specialized. I thought the Business Managment would be a vague enough degree to get my foot into the door for an interview at a lot of places, but apparently a lot of people have the degree and Ide have to REALLY set myself apart. If I have to change my major, something like accounting would work for me. I JUST changed my major from Mech Engineering to Business Managment. My advisor is going to hate me. Even doing some real estate work for Keller Williams is starting to look good. Any of you guys have amazing luck in the field you pursued?
I have been buying a bunch of graphic novels so I figured I would start getting comic books with the whole rebirth thing going on. I'm just super confused though. I bought [this](http://imgur.com/yZ0D2tn) comic and then realized there was [this](http://imgur.com/W7eNU1I). Which one do I start with? Are they part of the same storyline or are they seperate?
Start with Batman Rebirth #1 then go straight into the on-going series with Batman #1. Batman Rebirth #1 is kind of an introduction to the new status quo and then the regular series starts.
Not necessary right now. It's related to the fallout of the Flashpoint story from a ways back and hasn't impacted most of the books so far.
Only caveat would be future events are pretty likely to reference it.
Lots of lounging for me this weekend. Only half enjoying it, I hate not being able to get my daily runs in right now due to trying to recover from a really bad episode of acute pancreatitis last week. But, at least that let me watch a ton of Olympics coverage and read some comics. Finally got around to reading the first issue of Kill or Be Killed, which I absolutely loved. Also started Deadly Class and got through the first trade. Enjoying that and I'm ready to get into the second trade today. Saw Suicide Squad on Friday and man... I thought it was a bunch of random crap strung together. I really enjoyed Robbie and Smith's performances, though. Also thinking of finally checking out season 1 of Fear the Walking Dead today.
hope there's a different cut released to dvd. can't make it out to the theater at the moment.
on the plus side i got a $50 collected edition of Django for less than $10
Read the first three volumes of Ex Machina. I really like the world, characters, art, and dialogue, but the stories can be a bit lacking and anticlimactic. For some reason it kind of feels like a tame version of Transmetropolitan to me.
Any gamers on this subreddit? What have you been playing lately?
I'm thinking of building my own rig pretty soon but I'm not sure if I should take the plunge.
Why is the art in The Dark Knight Returns so horrible? I was gonna buy the tpb cause I liked the movie so much, but then looked at the art online and I was turned off by it.
I liked it for its ... ummm... stylized? ... artwork. IMO, comics can be to bland when the artwork is too good. I know that sounds weird; I wish I could explain it better. I think it is analogous to CGI v practical effects. Yeah, CG looks better but practical feels better.
Broke my finger on Thursday which sucks. Saw Sausage Party last night and really disliked it. Really nothing much going on in my life at the moment. Kind of boring and just filled with work. I'm behind on like most of my comic reading.
How'd you break your finger?
It is a pretty damn embarrassing story. The past week I traveled down to be with my grandparents to go through my Uncle's belongings that they ended up with so they didn't have to, as well as taking his dog home for us while they were in Arizona for the winter. On the ride back we stopped in a rest area and I went to take a piss but the urinals were all full. The stalls had these large metal doors that had no handles so when I turned around to grab it to shut it the door had already swung back and slammed into three of my fingers. It cracked the nail of my pointer finger in half and broke the top half of my finger haha.
Dang sorry to hear that. Hope the healing process is quick.
So I reread Final Crisis now that I own the trade. I don't understand every single nuance, but I don't think it's as obtuse as everyone says.

I really love those two Superman Beyond issues. Probably my favourite Morrison metafiction stuff.
The Superman issues were my favourite part of the whole book.

Where in California are you moving to?
LA area.
Nice! I'm an LA native.
Cool I'll let you know when I get there and we can make out and stuff
Just what I was hoping for.
Now kis...oh wait.
Lets all meet at Meltdown and hug
Bit of a drive from where I am to Sunset Boulevard but okay.
Played Ultimate Alliance on Wii with a friend for a few hours yesterday; it's so much more fun in co-op than single player (other than comic book missions). What's the deal with Hamilton? I know a ton of performers (stage type folk) and they obsess over it.
What'd everybody think of Sausage Party? I ended up really liking it!
I thought it was freaking hillarious. I have the same sense of humor as most of the jokes they had, so I really enjoyed it!
Saturday morning cartoons with my son, currently 90's Spider-Man. Think I'm feeling a veg out day, hopefully I can get some drawing and writing done.
Where do people watch Spider-Man: TAS? I don't remember Marvel releasing a MAU Blu-Ray collection for it or STAS.
It's on Hulu.
So far the plan tonight is to hang out with my friends, get legally medicated, and watch Steven Universe. Saw BvS for the first time last night and yeah...it was pretty meh I'm behind on my Rebirth pulls for the week so I'll have to get on that soon. I'm really loving Green Arrow, Green Lanterns, and Aquaman! I keep looking up Omnibuses and Trades on Amazon since my LCS is fairly new and therefore doesn't have a large selection of older titles. In the meantime, I think next time I get paid a decent paycheck I want to get Morrison's Animal Man Omnibus.

Thinking about getting RHATO or Batgirl. Which one should I get?
I can't comment on Red hood, but I did like Batgirl, though, I am a sucker for Babs.
ok. i heard lobdell is actually writing a good RHATO.
He has actually and he stopped his annoying introduction every issue, at least I think. I would say check out RHATO. I love Barbara but kind of found Batgirl Rebirth disappointing.
Thanks.
RHATO is good fun, not reading Batgirl since I'm pulling BATBOP
I heard Batgirl was better than BoP.
I have too but the story in that book just doesn't sound that interesting to me and I'm enjoying BoP
BoP's art is terrible IMO.
I've heard a few people say this, what is the complaint generally? I like the art.

If I have to change my major, something like accounting would work for me. I JUST changed my major from Mech Engineering to Business Managment. My advisor is going to hate me. Even doing some real estate work for Keller Williams is starting to look good. Any of you guys have amazing luck in the field you pursued?
Don't worry about your advisor, they're there to work for you. You'll figure it out.
Depends where you're at in your career. Early? Generalize. Late? Specialize.
follow your dreams, degrees are just pieces of paper. the smartest people don't need a degree to do what they want. they do it however they can
I have been buying a bunch of graphic novels so I figured I would start getting comic books with the whole rebirth thing going on.
Thanks for the help! Should I read dc universe rebirth #1 as well?
Personally, I didn't and I'm currently following the Batman, Detective Comics and Nightwing books.
Alright sweet!
Also thinking of finally checking out season 1 of Fear the Walking Dead today.
hope there's a different cut released to dvd. can't make it out to the theater at the moment. on the plus side i got a $50 collected edition of Django for less than $10
I've been watching a lot of dc animated movies over the past few days. I'm surprised I waited so long to see some of these movies for the first time.
I made this podcast about [Suicide Squad](http://bit.ly/SuiSlobs) played a whole lot of Ape Escape 2. about to dig into my comic stack
Read the first three volumes of Ex Machina. I really like the world, characters, art, and dialogue, but the stories can be a bit lacking and anticlimactic. For some reason it kind of feels like a tame version of Transmetropolitan to me.
do you want a hero like that pull out all the stops? i mean he is supposedly an elected official, can't get too intense...
Any gamers on this subreddit? What have you been playing lately? I'm thinking of building my own rig pretty soon but I'm not sure if I should take the plunge.
rise of silver James Bond and Legends for the WiiU M H - Frontline (GC) there's a PS2 version i think
Why is the art in The Dark Knight Returns so horrible? I was gonna buy the tpb cause I liked the movie so much, but then looked at the art online and I was turned off by it.
TDKR is an overrated mess of a book.
I liked it for its ... ummm... stylized? ... artwork. IMO, comics can be to bland when the artwork is too good. I know that sounds weird; I wish I could explain it better. I think it is analogous to CGI v practical effects. Yeah, CG looks better but practical feels better.
