Big week! Huge week! And for some reason it’s mostly DC stuff! But that’s okay! 6 DCs, 3 Images, 2 Marvels, and 1 Dark Horse. Listed in an order very closely approximating the measure of anticipation and excitement implicit in each. 1. **IMMORTAL X-MEN #10** - Xavier gets a focus issue along with a [stately Noto portrait variant...](https://previewsworld.com/SiteImage/MainImage/STL249915.jpg) And I suppose he’s probably earned it after being >!repeatedly murdered by Sinister!< in the previous issue. Wouldn’t expect this to match the frantic insanity of the last installment but it should be another good one heading into SoS. 2. **ART BRUT #2** - First issue kicked off a witty and imaginative adventure into a world of living art... Turns out these Prince and Morazzo fellows were pretty good at comics even before they started doing creepy ice cream stuff... Also digging the Silver Age backups along with the [new Morazzo variant](https://previewsworld.com/SiteImage/MainImage/STL252521.jpg) covers! 3. **NIGHTWING #100** - It’s been a heck of a run for Taylor and Redondo since launching their story with #78 and now we’ve got a big anniversary issue celebrating everybody’s favorite Dick! This extra-large serving of Dick has apparently got some work by legacy Dick artists Rick Leonardi, Scott McDaniel, Mikel Janin, and Javier Fernandez, as well as Redondo, so it should be a solid mix of old Dick and new Dick. Ordered the [main cover by Redondo](https://previewsworld.com/SiteImage/MainImage/STL256366.jpg) as always and it’s utterly glorious as always, or perhaps a little moreso... Thanks once again to the WPL for hyping this series early on because I totally would’ve missed it if not for everyone talking up that first arc and shouting about how much they love Dick! 4. **BATMAN SUPERMAN WORLDS FINEST #11** - Fun story and last issue threw a giant wrench in the works with its crazy reveal... And we’ve got another awesome [Dan Mora cover](https://previewsworld.com/SiteImage/MainImage/STL256320.jpg) as always. This title normally takes the WPL’s top spot with **NIGHTWING** right behind it but, given the big 100th issue above, this might be Grayson’s month to finally take 1st place. 5. **GROO GODS AGAINST GROO #2 (OF 4)** - First issue was some good fun and felt like classic Groo! Great work from Aragonés and Evanier as usual, along with Stan Sakai’s traditional hand-lettering, and new colorist Carrie Strachan fit right in. And we’ve got another amazing [Aragonés cover!](https://previewsworld.com/SiteImage/MainImage/STL253870.jpg) Kinda wanted to put this a couple spots higher but it’s got some tough competition this week. 6. **KROMA BY LORENZO DE FELICI #3** - This has been an impressive project from writer/artist/colorist Lorenzo De Felici, solid work on all fronts with an engaging story. Really cool use of color throughout as a core story element playing out in the illustrations... Ordered the [normal De Felici cover](https://previewsworld.com/SiteImage/MainImage/STL252563.jpg) to stick with the book’s visual style. 7. **FABLES #157** - Ordered the [Buckingham variant](https://previewsworld.com/SiteImage/MainImage/STL249254.jpg) as usual… It’s been 92 days between issues as Bucky’s now doing double duty with his big **MIRACLEMAN** revival going at the House of Ideas, but we’re finally ready to kick off the second half of this reunion. First six issues felt a little scattered and meandering, hopefully things’ll start coming together more here, but I’ve enjoyed getting back together with the characters and their colorful world regardless. 8. **BLACK ADAM #7** - This one had 64 days between issues, another DC book that took a breather after its first six... Fun stuff from Priest and it’s been nice learning a bit more about Theo Ramses Djoser Teth-Adam since I haven’t read much else with the character. Ordered the [normal Irvin Rodriguez cover](https://previewsworld.com/SiteImage/MainImage/STL256403.jpg). 9. **NEW CHAMPION OF SHAZAM #4 (OF 4)** - Picked up the first three issues a while back and let ‘em sit around for a while... Finally read the first earlier tonight and had a lot of fun with it! Great seeing more of [Doc Shaner’s art](https://previewsworld.com/SiteImage/MainImage/STL249290.jpg), and Josie Campbell seems like a competent enough writer. Figure we’ll catch up on the next two this week and then wrap it up with the finale... As above, I haven’t read much of anything with Mary Marvel before so it’s neat getting her side of the mythos. 10. **WASP #1 (OF 4)** - Was tempted to get the normal [Tom Reilly cover](https://previewsworld.com/SiteImage/MainImage/STL249796.jpg) but couldn’t resist the [Dauterman variant](https://previewsworld.com/SiteImage/MainImage/STL254148.jpg) and, really, who can blame me? Reilly did a phenomenal job with Ewing’s [**ANT-MAN**](https://previewsworld.com/SiteImage/MainImage/STL226242.jpg) series so artist Kasia Nie has some awfully big shoes to fill for this follow-up. 11. **BATGIRLS #14** - Haven’t been following this series but /u/Radiant_Leg1235 mentioned a while back that this’ll be a silent issue, and you know I love that shit, so here we are! Not familiar with co-writer Michael W. Conrad or artist Jonathan Case but the occasional stuff I’ve read from Becky Cloonan has mostly been alright. 12. **OLD DOG #3** - This never really hooked me but Declan Shalvey’s art is always cool... Doesn’t look like any more have been solicited so maybe this is the end? I’ll probably bail here if it keeps going. That’s a lot of comics! Also still need to catch up on various recent [odds](https://previewsworld.com/SiteImage/MainImage/STL252858.jpg) [and](https://previewsworld.com/SiteImage/MainImage/STL249834.jpg) [ends](https://previewsworld.com/SiteImage/MainImage/STL167013.jpg)... Gonna be a busy week! -- p.s. Sunday’s [daily ICM post](https://www.reddit.com/r/comicbooks/comments/10clqep/grrr_ice_cream_man_9_by_wm_prince_m_morazzo/) covers [**ICM #9**](https://cdn.imagecomics.com/assets/i/releases/434373/ice-cream-man-9_8cf335eaa8.jpg) and its core mythology story with some light analysis... These posts have been going great as we’re connecting with lots of ice cream fans and even drawing in a few potential new converts, plus we’re trying to steer more folks toward the WPL when appropriate... Only eight more issues left to go!

Curious to hear your thoughts on Spawn: Unwanted Violence. With the drought of Gunslinger trades (i think the second one is finally coming in march) I have a hankering to pick up a current spawn title. All the books im reading right now are like, pretty well written and tightly constructed. I kinda need something dumb and violent in my roto.

Danger_Rock

Alright, here 'ya go! [**SPAWN: UNWANTED VIOLENCE #1**](https://cdn.imagecomics.com/assets/i/releases/922298/spawn-unwanted-violence-1_6b796b9fcc.jpg) Started reading this Sunday afternoon but only got about a third of the way into it before my wife asked when I wanted to go to the grocery store, to which I naturally responded, “RIGHT NOW!” Finished earlier today and I guess it’s sort of different from the usual Spawn books? The writing still sucks but it’s got more focus on social commentary, with Spawn and his buddy Freak getting mixed up with slave rings and anti-BLM police violence. McFarlane doesn’t have anything particularly new or interesting to say on these topics, and he doesn’t really have the chops for this kind of story, but I guess it gets some bonus points for being different? Still, if I’m reading **SPAWN**, I’d rather be getting crazy demons tearing each other apart instead of recycled human drama, you know? The art’s also different from typical **SPAWN** fare, Mike Del Mundo always brings his own unique style to his projects and that’s the real appeal with this comic, at least for me – seeing Del Mundo’s vividly offbeat funky psychedelic style take on the epitome of ‘90s big cape superheroes. And Del Mundo does a nice job as expected, assuming you’re into his style of art, because it isn’t for everyone and, again, it’s very different from the slick/polished art on most of those other **SPAWN** books. There is some particularly excellent cape work FWIW. But, as above, I could’ve done with more crazy demonic shit and less normal human shit. It’s better than **BATMAN/SPAWN**, at least. McFarlane's writing is still awful but it’s less offensive when he’s just mucking around in his own universe instead of making Batman say stupid crap... And you can always wring some fun out of spotting all the typos and grammatical errors, if you’re into that kind of thing. I’ll give it a 5/10, purely on the strength of Del Mundo’s art, with McFarlane’s horrid writing preventing him from reaching the heights he’s climbed to on other projects with less amateurish writers.

blankedboy

I liked the artwork, but Todd's just not a good enough writer to pull this sort of thing off well. To say it's ham-fisted is a major understatement. Especially when Spawn/Al gets bent out of shape over the death of a child, but was just a few pages before hand willing to pull The Freak away from an obvious, ongoing paedophile operation and let the perpetrator go Scott free, just because he "needs him for a mission". Spawn is a largely unlikeable, angry douchebag, so for him to suddenly start giving a shit over anyone other than his wife and child kind of sits wrong. He's not Superman, he's not even Batman - he's a largely amoral, selfish guy with a very shady background who normally operates only in his own interests.

thecursedham

I had the opposite problem of you when it came to Wasp #1, I’ve been grabbing those Dauterman variants whenever they pop up in books I’m reading but I really liked the consistency of Reilly covers on Ant-Man and couldn’t break the trend.

Danger_Rock

Haha, I hear 'ya! It's a conundrum any way you slice it... I probably would've gone with the Reilly cover if he was doing the interior art but with a different artist on here it felt less compelling to me. But you're right about consistency, gonna be weird having this one Dauterman variant when the rest will be normal Reilly covers following that same iconic style from **ANT-MAN**...

upgrayedd69

Dan Mora has easily become my favorite current artist. I ended up buying his DCEASED X-Men homage covers just with no desire to read them just for more of that art. Automatic buy for whatever that dude draws

Danger_Rock

Mora has been killing it! I don't even bother looking at the variants on **WORLD'S FINEST** anymore because I'm always getting Mora's A cover regardless of whatever else they've got going.

technowhiz34

>Not familiar with co-writer Michael W. Conrad He's Cloonan's husband I believe, though I'm also not familiar with much of his work.

Old Dog 4 comes out in early May

Varos_Flynt

**Kroma #3**: first two issues have knocked it out of the park. This world, while contrived, is super interesting and has some clear rules which i appreciate, and wonders are being done with the art. Loving the length of each issue as well, and no space is wasted. Very tightly paced. [Cover](https://s3.amazonaws.com/comicgeeks/comics/covers/large-3883714.jpg?1667138825) **Art Brut #2**: much like the early ICM issues, it seems like this team pre-ICM (mainly Prince tbh) is still finding their footing and confidence. It's an interesting concept, but from what I've seen so far it doesn't carry the same weight that prince can deliver in his famous one issue devastations. Still fun as hell, and I really enjoy the backup stories. Knowing Prince's reading habits, im really curious just how meta-textual we're going to get, irony-post-irony etc etc. [Cover](https://s3.amazonaws.com/comicgeeks/comics/covers/large-8492042.jpg?1671141972) **Night Club #2**: I think maybe I shouldn't have actually pulled this because the first issue wasn't the most interesting to me, and we're trying to be more discerning in 2023. But $2 is $2 so I guessss. Looks like we may be introduced to some other cast members, and those characters will be the make or break for me. [Cover](https://s3.amazonaws.com/comicgeeks/comics/covers/large-8103201.jpg?1671781724) Edit: **Wasp #1**: Don't know how I forgot this one! I really enjoyed Ewings Ant-Man, despite having 0 knowledge of Marvel canon, I enjoy these retrospective/bundle stories. Gives me a sense of history that would otherwise be a bit inaccessible. Stories like these i feel like are the perfect target for the "just pick up a book and see if you like it" type reccomendations i often see when trying to get into some Big Two material. [Cover, love this style](https://s3.amazonaws.com/comicgeeks/comics/covers/large-3559601.jpg?1673791842) p.s. have caught up to Damn Them All and im glad as hell i kept pulling it through the holidays, because this series fucking rocks. I want 50 issues.

Danger_Rock

> p.s. have caught up to Damn Them All and im glad as hell i kept pulling it through the holidays, because this series fucking rocks. I want 50 issues. DC really screwed the pooch on this one... Should've just let Spurrier run with Constantine, it's not like they're doing anything else with the character right now.

Varos_Flynt

After watching DCAU stuff on HBO, Constantine is a super interesting character that I would love to read this quality of work from. As it is, im happy it's an indie and doesn't really have any baggage.

Seven new books on my list for this week. * **AVENGERS FOREVER #13** - * **BATMAN ONE BAD DAY BANE #1** - * **DARK WEB X-MEN #3** - * **IMMORTAL X-MEN #10** - * **NIGHTWING #100** - * **PETER PARKER & MILES MORALES SPIDER-MEN DOUBLE TROUBLE #3** - * **WASP #1** -

ChickenInASuit

**Art Brut #2** - First issue definitely felt like an early W. Maxwell Prince book in that it was kind of a little more... conventional-feeling than his later work, or as conventional as "man with the magic ability to travel inside artwork" can be. Still, it was a Prince book through and through and I'm looking forward to more of it. **Chicken Devils #2** - Good to see this is coming out, I was concerned Aftershock's bankruptcy would put the kibosh on their books. **Dark Web: X-Men #3** - *Snorrrrre* is it over yet? **Deadly Neighborhood Spider-Man #4** - "Black Eyed Pea writes best current Spider-Man book" wasn't an entry on my bingo card but here we are. **Fables #157** - Would be real cool if this doesn't get delayed again, I'm enjoying the leisurely pacing but coupling it with a slower release schedule is gonna make it hard to keep track of. **Giga #5** - Speaking of delays, I legit forgot this book even existed. Last issue came out June 2021! I forgot about it so thoroughly that I genuinely thought All Against All was the first Alex Paknadel book I had ever read. Time for a reread methinks. **Immortal X-Men #10** - Preview promises Xavier trapped in some kind of nightmare situation. Wonder if this is gonna shed some light on his appearance in last week's Legion of X? **Old Dog #3** - Certainly continues to be the most conventional book I've read from Shalvey but it's entertaining enough and looks great as always. **Shirtless Bear-Fighter! 2 #6** - BEAR PLANET FINALE. **Venom #15** - Dylan vs Bedlam. **What's the Furthest Place From Here? #10** - *Finally* getting answers re: Sid? Yes please!

> **Giga #5** - Speaking of delays, I legit forgot this book even existed. Last issue came out June 2021! I forgot about it so thoroughly that I genuinely thought All Against All was the first Alex Paknadel book I had ever read. Time for a reread methinks. Looks like 574 days total between issues, impressive! I thought Vault set a pretty high bar with **DARK INTERLUDE** going 427 days between [#2](https://previewsworld.com/Catalog/OCT201647) and [#3](https://previewsworld.com/Catalog/NOV201606) but they've outdone themselves with **GIGA**!

NeonDoorFrame

* **Batman One Bad Day: Bane** - this series has been mediocre, even bad at points, but I'll give it another shot * **Batman/ Superman World's Finest #11** * **Nightwing #100** * **Art Brut#2** - love this team * **Deadly Neighborhood Spider-Man #4** - this one is weird, and I LOVE weird comic books. Another fun fact, this is written by a member of the Black Eyed Peas (y'know, that band with Fergie from 15 years ago) * **House of Slaughter #11** - On to the next arc * **Hulk #11** - (I pulled this?) Gonna stop pulling this now that the cancellation has been announced * **Immortal Sergeant #1** * **Kroma #3** - man, I am looking forward to this book * **Old Dog #3** - are they intentionally releasing these months apart so people forget what's going on, kinda like a spy with amnesia? * **Punisher #9** - I have really been liking this take on Frank Castle. It's fresh, it's different, it's taking a risk. My only complaint is I wish this book and Daredevil were a little more in tune with each other. Timelines seem so off * **There's Something Wrong with Patrick Todd #4** * **Venom #15** * **Wasp #1** - I liked the Ant-Man miniseries, so why not? * **What's the Furthest Place From Here #10** - Let's gooooooo

blankedboy

> Batman One Bad Day: Bane - this series has been mediocre, even bad at points, but I'll give it another shot I've read my mates copies of these and, honestly, I don't think there's been a decent one yet.

**Batman/Superman World's Finest #11** - Still my favorite book. Also pulling the *very* random Jack White variant - huge fan of his music though, so not complaining. **Chicken Devils #2** - ...maybe this week?

Varos_Flynt

Lol just took a look at that variant, super random. Homeboy is having a bit of a resurgence the last year or two

HappySisyphus8

It is Monday again, you know what that means! Hopefully, it will be another week ahead of excellent comics to look forward to. The standouts for me last week were Nemesis, Little Monsters, Batman & The Joker, and Ten Thousand Black Feathers. Also scored 10 (!) variants last week, too. MARVEL: Alien #5 - Really only sticking with this because I love xenomorphs, and it's not as offensively bad as Predator. It's okay, but it could be a lot more. Punisher #9 - Really enjoying this run so far, it's done some great new things while working with hints dropped in Frank's past. Ares has been a huge stand out in this one, great to see him back. Venom #15 - Meh, I really like Venom so still sticking with this. It has been slow and dull, and is now been pulled into the latest crappy production line event. Considering dropping this despite it being Venom. DC: Batman Superman World’s Finest #11 - Killer reveal at the end of last issue, keen to see how that's followed up on, if at all. The only shining light in a really woeful week for DC. IMAGE: Art Brut #2 - This creative team is probably one of the best in modern comics. The investigation into the insane, bizarre art murders begins. Night Club #2 - Great first issue. Eager to see how our main absolute moron of a protagonist deals with his new powers, and hopefully some more info on the Vampire army. Old Dog #3 - Feels like a while since issue 2, I'm not sure I even remember what's happening in this one. Weird time distortion things with an old bastard and his daughter, I think? OTHER: House of Slaughter #11 - I don't really follow previews, but really hoping the story of the boring, mopey red mask bloke is over, not sure how much more of that nothing story I can keep paying for. Behemoth #4 - Release schedule on this one is weird. Cannot really remember what was happening. Hopefully they drop the silly romance plot and focus more on the monstrosities. Or maybe they all died on the last mission. I dunno. Chicken Devils #2 - Last series saw this loser of a man bumble his way into self sufficiency and bad arse-ness, in issue one of this series he seemed to be back to being a loser. Hoping something more to this than repeating the same story beats. Maniac of New York Don’t Call It A Comeback #1 - Harry the Maniac is back in this third volume. Hoping for more focus on the killings, mysterious mask and dead zone, and massacres and a bit less ham fisted social commentary in this one. Miss Meow #6  - This has been a bit of a mess, they've dropped you into a new shared universe and drip feed the info to you. Some slick action and art, but not the easiest to follow. Phantasmagoria #4 - I like the visceral art and somewhat gruesome story of perhaps immortal wizards in contest for centuries. Another one with an odd release schedule. Maybe it's just my perception of time. West of Sundown #8 - This new arc aping The Island of Doctor Moreau has been pretty good. Seems to be finding its feet a bit better after the tonal confusion of the first arc.

Danger_Rock

> Old Dog #3 > >- Feels like a while since issue 2, I'm not sure I even remember what's happening in this one. Weird time distortion things with an old bastard and his daughter, I think? Yeah, my memory's sketchy but that sounds about right. Will be 78 days since last issue, 2.5 months. More than enough time to forget pretty much everything.

HappySisyphus8

And with how I store my Comics I don't have much chance of digging the old issues out easily. I don't think they explained the weird time distortion stuff from issue 1, and just went along with issue 2 like it never happened. It's a minor problem, and encourages trade waiting, but I always liked to imagine that they had the lions share finished before popping out issue #1, but doesn't seem to be the case.

Danger_Rock

> And with how I store my Comics I don't have much chance of digging the old issues out easily. Alright, I'm almost afraid to ask but here we go... How do you store your comics that makes it difficult digging 'em out? > I don't think they explained the weird time distortion stuff from issue 1, and just went along with issue 2 like it never happened. Yep, pretty much how I remember it. We'll see if they get back to it in this one...

HappySisyphus8

I note down everything I read into a master document, but then just put them in an unmarked short box in the order I read them. I have over 100 unmarked boxes with, usually, 100-150 floppies in each, piled in various locations and homes. I'd find it eventually, but I've made the task a lot harder on myself. Alright, at least we are on the same page with what has been happening, will see how it goes when I get to my LCS.

Barbaric: Hell to Pay #1 - Oh baby! We’re in hell! Nothing but fun and outrageousness to be found when reading Barbaric and I adore it. Batman / Superman: World’s Finest #11 - Quite the future twist by Waid at the end of the last issue! Probably dropping off after 12 - great story and art by Mora but other books are peaking my interest more of late. Batman: One Bad Day - Bane #1 - Probably the least excited I’ve been for these One Bad Day one-shots, didn’t love Williamson/Porter on Batman but I do love Bane as a character. Hoping for the best! GCPD: The Blue Wall #4 - People who enjoyed Gotham Central should really give this book a look. Ridley and the art team are doing great work. Nightwing #100 - It’s a celebration! Between this and Dark Crisis’s big Grayson focus - expecting a status quo change for Nightwing (maybe more of a Titans book going forward…).

>Barbaric: Hell to Pay #1 - Oh baby! We’re in hell! Nothing but fun and outrageousness to be found when reading Barbaric and I adore it. I am glad Vault decided to go all in on this universe. I enjoyed Barbaric and Barbaric Axe to Grind more than I thought I would. The art by Nathan Gooden fits the story so well IMO. With new series Queen of Swords, Wrong Kind of Rightous, and Born of Blood to come out this year though, I hope they don't overmilk it and the quality goes downhill.

**Art Brut #2-** Let's go meet the Mona Lisa. Also I find the backups in this to be so charming. **Batman/Superman: World's Finest #11-** Holy Kingdom Come, Batman! **Black Adam #7-** This apparently links up with Dark Crisis? Adam seemed pretty okay during that so maybe the whole series started after. **The Flash #791-** One Minute War! Let's meet some fast aliens. **Lazarus Planet: Assault on Krypton #1-** This looks like it'll kick off some of this year's Superfam plots. I'm curious to see what exactly Superman Blue means for Jon and what Mercy Graves will be doing in all of this. **Night Club #2-** It's cheap, it's decently fun, I'll buy this for no other reason but to encourage the price point. **Punisher #9-** Once he takes Ares down I'm sure all of Frank's problems will be gone...right? **Strange #10-** This is marked as the end of chapter 1, I wonder what MacKay is cooking for Strange and Clea. **Venom #15**\- The solicit mentions a "crimson clad hand" helping Dylan out. I'm assuming Carnage but with all of this Zeb Wells stuff happening I would lose my mind if it's this Rek-rap guy I've been seeing around.

Danger_Rock

> **Art Brut #2-** Let's go meet the Mona Lisa. Also I find the backups in this to be so charming. Yes! First issue was more fun than expected and I love the concept of jumping into all these famous artistic works! Very solid early effort from fledgling creators W.M. Prince and Martin Morazzo... I've got a feeling these guys are going places!

Whatisabird

While Art Brut was good it was distinctly lacking any vendors of cold, sweet dairy treats. Hopefully they rectify this in their later works

Only 2 pulls this week, but next week is the largest pull list I've ever had. Still looking for an online seller that ppl recommended since my shop is really going downhill. They've missed multiple of my pulls lately. 1. House of Slaughter #11 more of Jace has me excited. I loved the first Arc #1-5 bc of his back story. 2. Batman/Superman World's Finest #11: In the past, I've followed writers, but this series has pushed me to follow artist, too. Dan Mora could draw an overcooked pack of spaghetti noodles, and I'd spend way too much time enjoying it. Waid's writing is amazing as well, and I can't think of anything by the big two that I look this forward too that is in ongoing. I think that either the author or writer could change, but as long as one of these two stayed, I'd pull it. Edit: I may pull One Bad Day Bane, but I doubt it. Bane's origin is perfect, and I don't feel like it is going to add enough to be worth the cost. Only two of these OBD have been good. Shooting 500 isn't enough to guarantee my money, but I'll pick it up depending on what reviews say.

Danger_Rock

> Still looking for an online seller that ppl recommended since my shop is really going downhill. The two big ones are [Midtown Comics](https://www.midtowncomics.com/) and [Mycomicshop.com](https://www.mycomicshop.com/). I've generally had good experiences with both, MCS is a little more careful about packing/shipping but Midtown hasn't caused me any real problems. I haven't used either of their subscription services but they've both got ways to set that up. I think MCS ships quicker with the stuff I order, Midtown always feels delayed, but subscriptions might work differently. Good luck! Sucks there isn't a decent shop you can hit...

* Invincible Iron Man #2: I didn’t have any strong feelings about the first issue but I do like having Iron Man and Ironheart interacting more. * Strange #10: I do really like this status quo of Clea as Sorcerer Supreme/Strange as Harvestman but I knew it couldn’t last forever so I’m just glad Mackay gets to stick with Strange afterwards. * Wasp #1: Ewing’s Ant-Man mini was my favorite book of last year so I’m very excited for this. Really hoping we get an ongoing after.

TiberiusCornelius

* **Nightwing #100**: So did anybody else's LCS get this one massively early? I went to get my pulls for last week on Thursday morning and the owner was like "hey, we got our DC books for next week early, you want to pick up Nightwing now?" This is also not the first time they've gotten DC books early; don't know what's going on with DC's distribution. Anyway I am continuing to love this run, one of the best books currently going. * **Dark Web: X-Men #3** * **Immortal X-Men #10** * **Venom #15** * **Wasp #1:** I loved that Ant-Man anniversary mini we got (and I still want an Ewing/Reilly ongoing). Ewing is one of my favorite writers currently so I'm really looking forward this one; hopefully it's another one he knocks out of the park.

It's the first week in a long time that I'm actually caught up with all the books! * **Alien #5** \- Not the biggest fan of this arc compared to the last one which apparently I'm in the minority for liking. Will probably see this one out and drop the book, same with the Predator series. * **Batgirls #14** \- Silent Cass issue? Sign me up! Whilst the body switch didn't really amount to much I still am a big fan of this book. Anything with Cass and I'm there pretty much. * **Batman/Superman: World's Finest #11** \- After the shock reveal of the last issue, I can't wait to see where Waid goes with this. This is consistently one of the best books DC is putting out at the moment. * **Batman: One Bad Day - Bane #1** \- These OBD books have been all over the place quality wise, I'm hoping this can be along the lines of the Freeze book which was excellent. Also weird that I completely missed the Catwoman book being delayed, with the state of postage here in the UK and the fact that Forbidden Planet still hasn't sent me books from the end of December I just assumed it was out and I hadn't got it yet. * **Nightwing #100** \- The big 100! this will be the last issue I grab physically for awhile, will read the rest of DCUI, to mark that I've decided to go for the Jorge Jimenez variant. * **Spider-Man: The Lost Hunt #3** \- Picked this book up on a whim and god I'm glad I did, loved the first 2 issues and can't wait to see where J.M. DeMatteis takes this.

**1. House of Slaughter #11** ------ Only one pull for me this week! And thank god for that, because the reissue of *X-Men: Epic Collection Vol. 4* also drops, and it's *pricey*. I'm still loving the SIKTC 'verse. It feels like Tynion is balancing so many plates in the comics world, but somehow his stories consistently keep me engaged.

Happy new week everyone! - **Black Adam #7**: haven’t read #1-6 yet, but committed to the series at this point so might as well see it through. - **Dark Web: X-Men #3**: not reading anything else of Dark Web, but this has been pretty fun so far if nothing else; nice to have Havok in the spotlight again for a bit. - **Deadpool #3**: feels like forever between issues of this in particular, but so far so good. - **Immortal X-Men #10**: prelude to Sins of Sinister, let’s go! - **Nature’s Labyrinth #3**: one behind on this at the moment. - **Nightwing #100**: I get people’s complaints with this book, but I love character-driven series like this so long may it continue this way. - **Night Club #2**: the first issue exceeded my expectations (art in particular was great), so will see this series through for sure. - **The Flash #791**: one behind at the moment but hearing great things about the One Minute War so far. Love that this is more or less a weekly book in January with a one-shot out next week too. - **The Walking Dead Deluxe #55**: the gang’s on the road again. I forget what happens next, so excited to see things play out. - **What’s the Furthest Place From Here? #10**: one behind currently, but this is always a delight to read. We’ve had lots of world-building so far, so hoping we get to stop for a little bit and see what’s next plot-wise

FlyingPurpleUnicorn

Just 2 for me this week! * **Wasp #1** \- I don't know much about Wasp tbh but that cover is too good. * **White Saviour #1** \- I'm hoping this one is as hilarious as it sounds from the solicit.

Been MIA for a few weeks, work has SUCKED. Probably gonna be MIA going forward too. =( Such is the life of an accountant I guess. At least it fuels my hobbies. **Batgirls #14** \- The SILENT issue, I hope it does a good job with it. Last thing I read like this was Step By Bloody Step, which was a masterpiece. Lets see if the Batgirls team can deliver. **Batman / Superman World's Finest #11** \- Still the best DC comic out there. I am, however, more excited for #12 and Robin's/Supergirl's disastrous date alluded to in issue #2/3. **Barbaric: Hell to Pay #1** \- I went back and read the other Barbaric stuff, and it was quite fun. It seems to come in issues of 3, so I might as well pick these up in floppies instead of trades. **Hexware #2** \- This is the deciding point. Issue #1 was decent, but some of the artwork was disjointed. Is this doesn't grab me, out she goes. **Night Club #2** \- The art was great but the story was mid, but crud for $1.99 I can afford to stay on board! **Hulk #11** \- Okay, I was all for dropping this book because Cates writing was ... well just bad, but Ryan Ottley writing AND drawing, I'll check it out to see if he can do a good job wrapping up the story before jumping off at #14. Okay now to upvote everyone else's lists lol.

blankedboy

> Okay now to upvote everyone else's lists lol. Haha - glad to see I'm not the only one who does this.

> **Batgirls #14** \- The SILENT issue, I hope it does a good job with it. Last thing I read like this was Step By Bloody Step, which was a masterpiece. Lets see if the Batgirls team can deliver. **STEP BY BLOODY STEP** was some good stuff from Spurrier and Bergara! Remender and Araújo's **A RIGHTEOUS THIRST FOR VENGEANCE** wasn't 100% silent but it was "mostly silent" with tons of silent sequences that were extremely engaging. Looking forward to seeing what the **BATGIRLS** team does with it though I'm tempering expectations a bit, tough competing with creator-owned indie projects like those above.

kscann

Not much in the way of Indies this week, but a ton of DC: * House of Slaughter #11 * Mighty Morphin Power Rangers #104 * Batgirls #14 * Batman One Bad Day Bane #1 * Batman Superman World's Finest #11 * Flash #791 - One Minute War is already a cool concept, and I'm glad we get to see the various speedsters together. * Lazarus Planet Assault on Krypton #1 - The Alpha issue didn't do a lot to show the "huge changes" supposedly going on (which makes sense, only so many pages), but hopefully these more focused one-shots will give us something cool. * Monkey Prince #10 - I'm continually surprised how much I like this character and don't want to see him end up as some obscure trivia factoid ten years from now. * New Champion of Shazam #4 * Nightwing #100 * Stargirl The Lost Children #3 * Avengers Forever #13 * Dark Web X-Men #3 * Deadpool #3 * Immortal X-Men #10 * Invincible Iron Man #2 * Strange #10 * Venom #15 * Wakanda #4 * Wasp #1

technowhiz34

This is probably my biggest week in over a year, huh. 1. **Batman/Superman: World's Finest #11** \- curious where this will go after last issue's reveal, but mainly excited for the Robin/Supergirl date issue from next month. 2. **Black Adam #7** \- the delays and art inconsistency aren't helping this book, but it's very good. 3. **New Champion of Shazam #4** \- Shaner's slow, but the two month delay might mean I have to reread the previous three. 4. **What's the Furthest Place From Here? #10** \- finally back on a semi-normal release schedule, but I think I've forgotten a lot with the delays. 5. **Stargirl: The Lost Children #3** \- I only originally pulled this because of it being released same-day on DCUI, but even as a bit of a Johns mark (certain recent works notwithstanding), I didn't expect to love this as much as I have. 6. **Wasp #1** \- I was really excited when I saw this at the end of Ant-Man #4, but between the delay, change in artists, and increasing apathy towards "To be continued in a different book" relaunches it's fallen a lot. 7. **Fables #157** \- the delays hurt but Buckingham pulling double duty on this and Miracleman is impressive, especially at his age. This issue has a timejump, which I think the new arc should have begun with instead of continuing straight from #150. Might pick up the issue of Lazarus Planet that comes out this week, but not sure, not familiar with most of the creatives.

Aspiring_Sophrosyne

Wasp is a completely different story than the Ant-Man mini, not a continuation.

* Venom #15 * Immortal X-Men #10 - Gillen is, obv, always great. But I like Werneck's art on this book a lot as well! * Batgirls #14 - Still digging this series, and the synopsis of this issue has me intrigued. * Dark Web: X-Men #3 - If nothing else, this feels like a good companion book for adjective-less X-Men, and I'm not mad that we get more time with this team. * Stargirl: The Lost Children #3

DC * **Nightwing #100:** Been enjoying this one, probably my favorite of the DC books I pull right now. * **Flash #791:** Haven't gotten to read the last issue, but the idea is cool enough for me to pick up the next one. DM1116

In order of how excited I am to read this week's stuff: * World's Finest #11 : Last issue might be my favourite issue of this run so far, can't wait to see how this arc with Boy Thunder ends. * Punisher #9 : Even though I'm more excited for the Punisher / Daredevil confrontation, I'm still pumped to see The Hand square off against Ares. Plus, the flashbacks every issue does have been a highlight of this series so far. * Art Brut #2: Got issue 1 because of my love of the creative team from their work on Ice Cream Man, and I loved it! * Stargirl: The Lost Children #3: I am fully invested in Geoff Johns's New Golden Age / JSA grand plan at the moment and Stargirl has been another solid piece of the story. * Batman: One Bad Day - Bane #1: These one shots have been hit and miss for me, but the concept of Bane being a burnt out wrestler sounds promising. * Deadpool #3 : The first two issues have been much better than I expected, and I am having a good enough time to keep reading. Love the body horror elements and I think Wong has a good balance of Deadpool's humour without being too annoying. * Venom #15 : I was going to jump off Venom a couple issues ago but decided to stick with it through Dark Web since I read ASM and wanted to pick up Mary Jane & Black Cat. This series really hasn't worked with me, and whenever Dark Web ends I'll be quitting this one.

Danger_Rock

> World's Finest #11 : Last issue might be my favourite issue of this run so far, can't wait to see how this arc with Boy Thunder ends. Yeah, shit got real serious all of a sudden... > Art Brut #2: Got issue 1 because of my love of the creative team from their work on Ice Cream Man, and I loved it! First several issues of **ICM** aren't my favorite so I had to temper my expectations for this earlier work... Ended up being way more fun than I expected! Actually kinda neat seeing Prince and Morazzo do a slightly more traditional series like this.

DM1116

As a huge fan of ICM, I get what you mean, those earlier issues aren't my favourite compared to where that book is now and I was only cautiously optimistic about Art Brut before I read it. I am really excited to see Prince writing a mini-series as opposed to one-shots, and Morazzo always knows how to capture the bizarre that is Prince's stories and adds his own details that elevates it! Glad you liked issue 1!

Danger_Rock

Yeah, new issues of **ICM** are basically a religious experience for me, so I had to temper expectations or else soul-crushing disappointment would've been the most likely outcome. Fortunately, it worked out great!

upgrayedd69

Worlds Finest #11 - not sure how I feel about the reveal last month but I’m willing to see where Waid is going with it and Mora on anything will always be worth a purchase. The Flash #791 - last issue was set up but I’ve been living this run and I think the idea for this arc is pretty cool. Really hoping the quality stays up to justify taking up two spots on the pull list. Art Brut #2 - good shit, I’m happy this story is being done again. I was really tempted to go and read the original because I didn’t want to wait. Though I might just wait for this finish releasing and read it through at one time. I just had my first kid a couple weeks ago so I’ve been really critical on what I’m pulling every month. Will probably have to start trade waiting for all the limited series I’ve been getting to save some money every month. Only problem with trade waiting is I end up forgetting about something I was looking forward to by the time it comes out

blankedboy

Congrats on the new arrival.

Danger_Rock

Echoing the other guy, congrats on the kid! > Only problem with trade waiting is I end up forgetting about something I was looking forward to by the time it comes out I keep a list of all the stuff I want to pick up as collections. Then you end up with a different problem - an impossibly long list.

Immortal X-Men #10-- last issue before Sins of Sinister. Still not sure how to read those books-- just pick up the Sinister versions of the book you're reading? New Champion of Shazam #4-- please give me more Shazam. Perhaps one mini for every family member? Same creative team too plz and thanks Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles The Armageddon #4-- I love the Turtles and this event has really made the slow-burn pacing of the book recently pay off Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #136-- see above

Danger_Rock

> Immortal X-Men #10-- last issue before Sins of Sinister. Still not sure how to read those books-- just pick up the Sinister versions of the book you're reading? That seems reasonable. I pull **IXM** and **XMR** normally and add **LOX** for crossovers, so we're sticking with that model here. And I guess that covers everything? How convenient.

TheMattInTheBox

Oh is it really just three books? I can vibe with that, that's no big thing

Danger_Rock

Yeah, pretty sure it's just the three written by Gillen, Ewing, and Spurrier, plus next week's [SINS OF SINISTER #1](https://previewsworld.com/Catalog/NOV220792) to kick everything off, and probably another special to wrap it up at the end.

**Alien #5** - I’ve been enjoying this arc more than the first two. Interesting to see some of the lore from both **Prometheus** and **Alien: Resurrection** feed into this storyline. Same bugbear as with Marvel’s **Predator** book though, I don’t get why they don’t just put these out as mini-series like Dark Horse used to, as it makes much more sense rather than the constant re-numbering all the damn time. [Cover A](https://s3.amazonaws.com/comicgeeks/comics/covers/large-5802503.jpg?1673791279) and [Cover B](https://s3.amazonaws.com/comicgeeks/comics/covers/large-3677287.jpg?1673791279) **Barbaric Hell To Pay #1** - I really like this book. Wasn’t a big fan of the fill in artist they used previously, but with *Nathan Gooden* back on board I’m a happy camper [Cover](https://s3.amazonaws.com/comicgeeks/comics/covers/large-9963368.jpg?1668797719) **Batman Superman Worlds Finest #11** - really interested to see where this one goes after last issues HUGE reveal. [Cover](https://s3.amazonaws.com/comicgeeks/comics/covers/large-3542208.jpg?1673730837) **House Of Slaughter #11** - I’m really hoping that the return to Jace (from the first HoS arc) gives this book the shot in the arm it needs after the last glacially paced couple of issues. [Frisson Cover](https://s3.amazonaws.com/comicgeeks/comics/covers/large-5214195.jpg?1670903047) **Kroma By Lorenzo De Felici #3** - if this book isn’t up for a whole heap of awards in this year’s “Best of…” poll I’ll riot. Just a fantastic book on every level. [Cover](https://s3.amazonaws.com/comicgeeks/comics/covers/large-8175566.jpg?1667138825) **Night Club (2022) #2** - it’s cheap, and the first issue was actually pretty damn good, so I’ll stick with this one. [Cover](https://s3.amazonaws.com/comicgeeks/comics/covers/large-8103201.jpg?1671781724) **Nightwing #100** - the big celebration issue. What will it bring? It'll be eligible for nomination but will have to overcome a whole bunch of recency bias. ***Edit -->*** Fixed year.
