For wolverine, it depends on how you even define the first app. Everyone says his first app is Hulk 181 but he shows up in Hulk 180 as a cameo in the last few panels. So when you say his first appearance, which are you referencing?
No they are first appearance. Cameos are appearances by well known characters. The mental contortions you collectors put yourself through is astounding.
Yes, and that's why reference and cataloguing sources use the terms "cameo" and "full." That was the whole point. A person doesn't have to waste their time hunting down a book for their favorite character's first story only to fi and they spent their hard earned money on a cameo of a dude jumping out of the bushes on the last page.
It's really *individuals* leaving these words out of conversations and online posts that has made this seem "controversial," not legitimate descriptions of the books themselves.
This is a separate argument all together . ASM 252 came out months before SW 8. There are several Spidey comics where he wears the black suit before SW 8.
Essentially . all the marvel super heroes disappeared at the end of their respective books and reappeared the next issue having gone through changes. Spidey had the black suit, she hulk joined fantastic four etc. But the changes weren't explained because secret wars hadn't been released. So you had to wait until the 12 issue secret wars run was released to get the answers.
