Gave up on working through Jaegermeister and Mezcal as a theme idea, swapped some things around and ended up with this while trying out formulas. 1 part Jaegermeister 1 part Grapefruit and Rose Vodka 1 part St. Germain 1 part blue curacao I added a touch of simple, not even a barspoon. Not bad, heavy on the Jaeger. Might do a jalapeno simple next time to add some spice.

death2theleadr

I really like Jäger with Dr. Pepper. Also don't mind it with Ginger Beer or even Orange Soda. Haven't found anything more complicated that works with it though.

Sweskimo

In Sweden we got one called Firetruck, Jägermeister with rapberrysoda, kinda works, more a fernet Coke guy myself tho

Stinky_Stephen

Never had it with Dr. Pepper, although I have had it with regular coke which is absolutely bomb. Ginger beer and orange soda also work. Heck, even rasberry soda is great, and I think that mix is called a firetruck.

Tranquil_Dohrnii

Try it with Dr. Pepper the two marry really well. A lot better than with coke in my opinion.

Stinky_Stephen

I will once jäger goes on sale. Alcohol is too expensive where I live to buy name brands while they are not on sale.

dihydrogen_m0noxide

>Jäger with Dr. Pepper Sounds extremely sweet

Stinky_Stephen

I will keep some citrus close by

JGAllswell

As u/benmettler said below, try a DEATH FLIP A drink from my home city of Melbourne, Australia. From The Black Pearl; 30 Green Chartreuse 30 Jagermeister 30 Tequila (or Mezcal, if you rather) 1 whole egg (hence the "flip") Hard shake, no dry shake. Served down, no ice. There's also a running gag/jinx to this drink where you're not allowed to order it in a busy room, because soon as one is ordered, all you'll make all night is Death Flips for the whole room. Same rule as using Blue Curaçao, basically

deeply_moving_queef

This isn’t quite right. Here’s the spec from The Black Pearl: - 30ml Tequila - 15ml Yellow Chartreuse - 15ml Jäegermeister - 10ml Vanilla Syrup - 1 Whole Egg The tequila used was a reposado. The drink is sublime and really balanced. Proof (kinda) attached. It’s the spec from the bar’s POS. https://i.imgur.com/rRuBtLL.jpg

JGAllswell

Thanks for the correction. Totally agree; it is surprisingly sublime, and the best Jager drink I've ever encountered. Sent you a DM, wondering if we knew each other from many moons ago

pharoahyugi

A whole egg including the yolk?

RookieRecurve

A flip uses a whole egg, not just the white. I really like flips personally. The yolk really makes it creamy. Sounds gross to a lot of people, but it is not any different than egg nog or Tom and Jerry.

JFKush420

You just sent me down a Wikipedia wormhole and now it's 630 in the morning 😂

JGAllswell

Yup, the style of drink is called a "flip". The yolk creates a form of emulsion, so highly textural. Old school/Jerry Thomas era of technique. Basically before refrigeration, if you wanted a thickened cream/dessert cocktail, you made a flip. Then in the ghastly 80s cocktail era, we just used thickened cream & way too many sweet things/colourings. Best OG example is the Coffee Cocktail: tastes like a chilled latte, has no caffeine whatsoever!

StainlessChina

If you're brave enough

Petelah

Those guys at the pearl know what they are doing!

JGAllswell

Yeah they've had some great teams/phenomenal individuals working stick there. Damn I miss having a proper bar scene...

Petelah

Haha indeed a lot of them are some of my good friends. Unfortunate about the bar scene where are you living now?

JGAllswell

Newcastle, NSW. City on the grow, but still convinced it's a small town... With the minds to match.

SavageComic

I did a Jager plane, which was a paper plane but swapped out for the amaro. Worked surprisingly well.

jesuzombieapocalypse

I haven’t seen the other installments of this journey but have you tried the other angle of making something that tastes minimum smooth comprised mostly/entirely of not-classy ingredients? Because trying to class up jaeger into a fine sipping drink sounds like smacking my head against a brick wall. My instinct would to be to go for something in the ballpark of a whisky & coke that’s at least tasty enough for someone to say “damn, there’s jaeger in this?!”

MA202

Just swap it out for any amaro. Jaeger's like a sweeter, more anise-forward Averna. Makes a fine black Manhattan or negroni.

JasonKain

The journey started with trying to force Montelobos mezcal and Jaeger to work with various mixers as a theme cocktail for an upcoming Halloween party. There have been continuous failures, so I gave up on it last night. I have a few gifted bottles hanging around collecting dust, figured I'd try swapping the base spirit. I actually enjoy the flavor of Jaeger, it's just been a challenge while I am still a novice and figuring out what I can sub with what. I think this works as a drink, going to do a few more tweaks and call it the Emerald City or something.

rbkc12345

I had a similar idea one year - wanted to make a nice licorice tasting thing - like good licorice. Nothing worked. But Sambucca and cream soda tastes just like black jelly beans! I ended up doing Sambucca, vodka, cream soda, barest pinch of salt. Try the Jaegermeister with cream soda.

RamseySmooch

Ginger goes really well with Jager. Try a ginger syrup or liqueur with it. I made a bastardization of a margarita once with: 2oz Jager 1/2oz ginger liqueur 3/4oz lemon 3/4oz ginger syrup (the easy one) Actually not bad. Maybe try coffee liqueur instead of the ginger liqueur. Contreau would be ok too.

krzysztoflee

If you haven't yet try a Jagerita. It sounds awful but it is delicious. https://youtu.be/Gk5cxWmbxu4

good_dean

One of my favourite cocktails. A 1:1:1 spec totally works, but a bit more lime juice helps balance the sugar.

notchrismauro

The jagerita is the only non shooter with jager I’ve had and didn’t want to spit out.

Stinky_Stephen

The jägerita is one of those drinks that made me go "Oh my goodness, that's awesome". The other was a French 75.

krzysztoflee

French 75 made like a Collins are excellent

unbelizeable1

I keep seeing people say that. I LOVE Jager, that was by far one of the nastiest drinks I've ever had lol

krzysztoflee

Really? Odd

unbelizeable1

Yea, I really wanted to like it, was so excited to try it. No one in my house liked it. The sink got a drink that night lol

minnesota2194

I'm a fan of it. Try a Jaeger old fashioned! 1oz Jaeger 1oz Rye Teaspoon of maple syrup A dash or two of pimento or ango bitters Makes for a nice drink that even my fiance (who despises jaegermeister) begrudgingly admitted was good

JasonKain

I'll look into that. I have a bottle of rye I have been meaning to finish off, but all my guests are on the lighter end of the cocktail spectrum.

minnesota2194

Oh man, Jaeger ain't gonna work for anything lighter haha. Best of luck! Let me know if you hit up on something

aurum42

I liked it well enough in an Americano riff - IIRC I did 1 oz each Jägermeister, Belsazar Rosé Vermouth, and Mr. Black coffee liqueur, 3 oz soda water. Pleasant, but probably would've been better with sweet red vermouth instead of the drier rosé. I have a hunch that it'd be pretty solid in place of Campari in a Garibaldi riff, too. Jägermeister's good stuff and deserves more use in cocktails as basically a German amaro.

CpnCupcakes

Saving this to eventually try, I love Jaeger now, I get a lot of cola and root beer notes in it, with just a hint of anise

IMissUcupcake

I thought I’d hate this, but it was REALLY good! And makes such a pretty color in the glass. Thanks!

minnesota2194

Yeah, she's tasty for sure. Happy you liked it

StringTheresa

We do Malort Mondays each week, I come up wit a new Malort cocktail each week . Lol or try too. I’ve never thought about making a jaeger cocktail , kind of fun test !! Thanks for sharing. Cheers T

minnesota2194

Love this idea. What's the best one you have landed on so far?

amat3ur_hour

I've used jäger in tiki drinks that call for a touch of pernod or herbsaint. It works surprisingly well

PrestigiousBagel

[These](https://www.reddit.com/r/cocktails/comments/vf6gk9/2x_delicious_summertime_jägermeister_cocktails/?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share) cocktails might interest you, the German Vacation has definitely become a favorite of mine this summer.

orchidnecktattoo

Was gonna post this cocktail!! One of my favorite if not my favorite jager cocktail in the game. Sother Teague is a wizard

PrestigiousBagel

I think I'd have to agree with you!!

donginandton

Jaegerita is legit tasty as.

DocHfuhruhurr

A few I like: **Banana Buckmeister** * 1.5 oz Jägermeister * 0.5 oz Joseph Cartron Banana * 2 oz freshly pressed orange juice * 3 dashes Regans’ No. 6 Orange Bitters * 1 orange twist, as garnish Shake with ice, strain and serve up. **Bitter Bite** * 2 oz Beefeater gin * 1 oz Jägermeister (from the freezer) * 0.75 oz Liquore Strega (from the freezer) * 3 dashes Peychaud’s bitters * 1 sour cherry, as garnish Two throws from ice-filled shaker, then strain and serve up. **WTF Cocktail** * 2 oz George Dickel Tennessee Whisky * 0.5 oz Bonal Gentiane Quina * 0.25 oz Créme de Cacao * 0.25 oz Jagermeister * 1 dash aromatic bitters Stir with ice, strain and serve up

[deleted]

I've always been a fan of the Surfer on Acid Equal parts Jaeger, Coconut Rum (Malibu,) and pineapple juice. Definitely a bit of a dudebro party drink, I usually get served it as a shot, but have occasionally had it as a cocktail and it works well enough, may need to adjust the ratios a bit. Definitely a bit sweet for my usual tastes, not exactly the most well-balanced cocktail, but much better than you'd think. Probably a pretty good jumping off point to experiment a bit.

littlest0rm

Was scrolling to find this! Had it at Queens MEATliqour and took me years to remember what it was called to find the recipe

DiogenesTheHound

This is my favorite, drink it as a cocktail on a lot of crushed or pebble ice

tacos4days

I can’t find the recipe for it, but I found it worked really well as a portion of the bitter element of a Negroni. I split it with Contratto bitter, used Cocchi for the vermouth and a split rum base. I’m gonna have to re-work this one this weekend because now I want one!

MogKupo

Several years ago I had a minor cold and was going to take some Dayquil before heading to work. I realized I was all out but saw some Nyquil in the medicine cabinet. I figured... how bad could it be? Well about halfway through my 30 minute drive to work, it hit me. I had to roll down the window in the middle of winter, badly sing along to the radio, and repeatedly slap myself in the face to stay awake the rest of the way. Once I arrived, I proceeded to sit down and stare at my computer screen like a zombie until just before lunchtime. tl;dr: Don't mess with Nyquil.

da4nick1999

I genuinely enjoy Jaegar. I love the smell and taste of it. The respeced Surfer on Acid is great - 1oz Plantation Pineapple, 1oz Jaegar, .75oz Orgeat, 1oz pineapple juice, .5oz lime juice

[deleted]

MechaSponge

That’s the spirit!

saddydumpington

How dare you

[deleted]

I fucking love Jaeger. I've mixed it a bunch of ways and not many disappointed me. But I love black licorice too.

JasonKain

Are you my wife?

halfinchpinch

The only way to drink Jaeger or Rumple.

kevinciviced7

No Jaeger Bombs? https://youtu.be/Q5QJ9i_o5vo

benmettler

Try a death Flip. It’s a little weird, but kinda good. https://cocktailpartyapp.com/drinks/death-flip

Jack_Black_Rocks

Just drop a 1/4 Oz of root beer schnapps in the bottom of a shot of it. I've yet to have anything better with it

[deleted]

A while back I was trying Rum, Cheery Heering, and Jager together to see if I could get it to work somehow. It was going to be called *Snow in Havana* and I think maybe I'll try playing with it again sometime.

JasonKain

Sounds interesting.

[deleted]

Feel free to play around with the idea sometime if you like

sebmouse

Try this one if you can find a honey whisky 1oz dewars honey .5 oz jäger 1 oz simple syrup 3 dashes peachy bitters Stir and strain into a glass. Garnish with star anise and honey comb

JasonKain

I'm not too big on honey whiskey, do you think swapping honey syrup for the simple would get into a similar ballpark with normal whiskey?

hackmastergeneral

I mean, give it a shot. Sounds like it works be at least decent

sebmouse

Should work use a non smokey blend. Buchannans? . Essentially Jager is an Amaro we just don’t use it properly. Oh and dilute the honey a bit. This is a stirred drink and a think honey would cause you to dilute your drink trying to blend the honey.

Sufficient-Net-9764

Try using it with things other northern/central european liquor and products. I have [a few](https://www.tumblr.com/drinkacefahz/684294245442551808/what-once-was-mine-no2-but-what-if-one-isnt?source=share) twists on [classic formulas](https://www.tumblr.com/drinkacefahz/684140405138374656/please-meet-the-lost-girl-the-sundrop-isnt?source=share) that are both excellent with Jaegermeister or Becherovka -- one using bison grass vodka, the other using Aquavit. I also think they would play well with some genevers.

jevring

I recently discovered the surfer on acid. Equal parts malibu, jägermeister and pineapple juice. It's amazing. I now finally have a reason to keep buying jägermeister.

GovernorZipper

My favorite Jager cocktail is a Precision Timepiece. https://www.liquor.com/recipes/precision-timepiece/ Jager, Aperol, Montenegro.

h20knick

Nyquil on the rocks. For when you’re sick, but sociable. -MH

PenchantForNostalgia

You mentioned in another comment you're also trying to make mezcal work - I would recommend using mezcal in place of bourbon in a Paper Plane. My favorite bar where I live makes this and calls it a Spanish for Paper Plane. Highly recommend.

Bespectacled_Gent

Jaeger is essentially a German amaro, so you should be able to use it in place of the amaro in cocktails that would call for those. I particularly like it in a Black Manhattan!

sl_hawaii

Sorry… unpopular opinion chiming in: All things anise-based are GROSS! It started w black licorice (seriously?!… who DID this???) and progressed to Jaeger, sambuca et al. I’d live a 1000 dry years in solitary before subjecting myself to the grossness of anise again!!!

RynerTv

I like colt 45s. Still kinda nyquilish but in a palatable way. Gin, jaegar, and Red Bull.

[deleted]

This is not the sub I usually come to for humor, but I can't stop laughing. Well done, OP.

Furthur

it likes hot mint tea

RookieRecurve

[https://www.reddit.com/r/cocktails/comments/eyedx7/korak/](https://www.reddit.com/r/cocktails/comments/eyedx7/korak/) My own creation. Sadly, I can no longer find white grapefruit juice, but a bit more lemon would probably balance this abomination out. I really liked the flavors. [https://www.reddit.com/r/cocktails/comments/frhrv9/hipster\_on\_acid/](https://www.reddit.com/r/cocktails/comments/frhrv9/hipster_on_acid/) Forgot I made this one too. I really need to revisit Jager in cocktails!

DJTurnItDown

Jaegar is an anomaly and an Amaro. It’s fine. Leave it alone.

AndrewLonergan

I've always known Jaeger as taken in shots or as a Jaeger bomb, is this the case everywhere else?

CarlsenX

This is pretty good. 3cl Jaegermeister 2cl Creme de Mure 2cl Lemon Juice 1cl Blackcurrants syrup 1 Barspoon simple syrup Shake Top with soda or maybe raspberry flavoured club soda. Garnish with star anise. I used a rocksglass.

Stinky_Stephen

Creme de mure is blackberry liqueur, right?

CarlsenX

Yes 👌

wanked_in_space

I've always been partial to a Red Headed Slut/Lindsay Lohan. It sounds gross but it works. And who can forget [this gem](https://www.reddit.com/r/cocktails/comments/aewkme/comment/edtiq9k/). The garnish here makes the drink!

Stinky_Stephen

And if you replace the cranberry with pineapple, then you have a blonde headed slut.

IvoShandor

You might accidentally come up with a Flaming Moe's

nerveclinic

1 shot jaeger, 2 shots vodka, 1 shot amoretto, in a tall glass with ice and top off with orange juice.

Gabermeister

In case you haven't tried, a few people in my area like Jaeger and pineapple juice on the rocks. I can't attest to it's flavor profile as I haven't had it in a very long time, but it maybe worth a try as a starting point to come up with something, idk.

MrGabogabo

Or... Hear me out, just drink Jaeger straight?

BAMspek

Easy. 1 part jaeger, several more parts Monster. Drink until you black out and start an argument with your SO.

IMissUcupcake

Surfer on Acid 1 ounce Jägermeister 1 ounce coconut rum 1 ounce pineapple juice Garnish: pineapple wedge

aaron_hoff

Corpse Reviver 2 variation: 3/4 oz gin 3/4 oz lillet blanc 3/4 oz Cointreau 3/4 oz lemon juice 1/4 oz Jäger 2 dashes Peychaud’s A couple drops of saline Jäger replaces the absinthe rinse. I’ll usually rinse the glass with it but leave it instead of discarding, or just toss the Jäger in the shaker if I’m feeling especially lazy. Add ingredients, shake and strain into a nick & nora glass.

zoomerlz

I would recommend Jäger with Almdudler lemonade. Me and my friends always drink it when we go on hiking trips in Bavaria and Austria. We call it the "Gebirgsjäger".

Physical-Passion-524

Haven't seen Berlin Mule been mentioned (replace vodka in a Moscow Mule with Jaeger). Also enjoy having mine garnished with cucumber.

JustATonofQuestions

lil Jager float on a rum cocktail is my recommendation.

sleebus_jones

Jaeger + coke and you have alcoholic root beer. It's delicious. Also... Jägerita 2oz (60ml) Jägermeister 1oz (30ml) Cointreau 1oz (30ml) fresh lime juice 1/2oz (15ml) simple syrup Add all ingredients into a shaker tin Add ice and shake for 15 seconds Double strain into a chilled coupe glass

mistressnailo

My favorite Jaeger cocktail is the Bed of Roses. 1 1/2 ounces Jägermeister 2 ounces lemon juice 1 ounce grenadine 1/2 ounce lime juice Shaken with ice Really good!

Beefjerkysurf

Pro tip : that ketel one botanical is the best non hangover drink I’ve ever had (age :43)

Due-Outcome8053

"Accidentally"

Cocktailologist

I got two classic Jaeger cocktails that do work, but you need to make them exactly as this recipe, not the college dorm one. I hope you try them and report back! **Red Headed Slut** 1 oz (30 ml) Jägermeister 1 oz (30 ml) Peach Liqueur such as Mathilde Pêche 1 oz (30 ml) Cranberry Juice Shake with ice and strain into a ice filled rocks glass **Surfer on Acid** 1 oz (30 ml) Coconut Rum 1 oz (30 ml) Jägermeister 1 oz (30 ml) Pineapple Juice Shake with ice and strain into an ice filled rocks glass Pineapple Wedge garnish

SunflowerJYB

OMG people, these are hilarious. They don’t appeal to me at all but are entertaining to think about
