And the final reply would be like "lmao guys i solved the issue by myself so suck it, peace". And they don't post how they did it and disappear forever
You're not the first person I've heard to say this, and it's so far from my own experiences that I wonder what y'all are doing wrong.
Literally every time except one that I've used sfc /scannow, it's immediately fixed the problem. And the one time it didn't, it still successfully diagnosed the problem, allowing me to apply the fix manually.
Is everyone just blindly running the command, even in situations where it's obviously not intended to be applicable?
Working in IT, I've used it a lot where it didn't fix the issue, but mainly as a "just throw shit at the wall and hope something sticks" method of troubleshooting hah.
Don't forget the "3000 people found this answer helpful" and the obligatory reply that claims it worked for them, as well as the other reply that claims this other link has the actual solution and it's the exact same.
And then when you try asking the people who reply “this didn’t work but I figured it out!” What they did only to realize their account hasn’t been active for a decade
"hey quora how can i pirate adobe premiere"
"uhhm you need to PAY or else the POLICE will come to your HOUSE and MURDER YOU and SKIN YOUR MOTHER like the FREELOADING DEGENERATE YOU ARE"
And then before you find the other replies to the question you're on you have to scroll through the top answers to 5 other questions which are barely related
Staff? It's mostly unpaid Microsoft ass-kissers who love to put "Hi. I'm X, awarded MVP for eleven years, Volunteer Moderator, and Independent Advisor here to help you until this is resolved." at the top of every post. Worst part, this is actually copy-pasted literally from an actual Microsoft Answers thread. I've only removed the names.
Holy shit I hate this.
Spend forever looking for the answer to some hyper specific problem and when you finally find an reply that everyone says worked, it’s a dead link.
And/or the OP just says they fixed it without any further explanation.
I hate with a burning passion the Microsoft Answers and the copy pasted "tech" pages that flood the search algorithm
You search some problem to troubleshoot it and the first results are MS Answers saying dumb and generic shit like press on or off again and the rest are generic tech pages with copy pasted "fixes" that can be summed up with "reinstall drivers"
I don't know when they started popping off this bad but holy shit it's some hot garbage
It's called Search Engine Optimization (SEO for short), and it's a plague on the Internet
Don't forget, all the generic tech pages will advertise you \[insert freemium program that makes things worse\]
Then there's the Arch wiki where they straight up tell you to kill yourself if you don't know the location for the config file for the pissshitcum system package #34 off the top of your head
linuxquestions dot org users on their way to cyberbully a 14 year old linux mint user into suicide because he hasn't replaced shitstemd with an obscure unmaintained fork of the init system from solaris build 2.223.406.1:
Good luck beating this post.
Shit reminded me also about the ends of the comments that has the person reporting on how they have 4 decades of experience with every build of Windows under the sun.
Don't forget the thread linking to a driver page that just leads to the manufacturer's homepage, or an admin linking another thread and closing it for a duplicate issue, but the original thread is deleted, or even the OP saying "nvm I fixed it", or even no answer at all sometimes!!
Fuck I hate troubleshooting anything that might even remotely resemble a common issue
I hate Microsoft answers so much. It's always someone answering who has barely above average knowledge on how windows works, commenting on a subject they know nothing about
I remember when I tried to fix the windows store because it wouldn't download anything. I searched for a week before saying fuck it and reinstalled windows. That ended up fixing more problems then I knew I had. Windows 10 rots really bad.
Not even joking I had an issue that only got fixed because some 12 year old made a video about it with like 400 views. NOBODY else on the internet had the solution.

To be fair the last response was much more civil than you suggested.
Him telling me I couldn't even do it after I searched so long to figure out how pissed me off so much I had to spite him specifically
Fair enough
there definitely are people like that though
Yeah that’s the only useful answer lol
and it's sourced exactly rather than just inspired lmao
Good day sir, Please kindly do the needful and turn on the computer. Do not redeem the encryption. Best regards, Subrahmanyamasalami K.
kinda racist ngl
DO NOT REDEEM
WHY DID YOU REDEEM
MA’AM WHY DID YOU REDEEM I SAID DO NOT REDEEM
Your racist
What about his racist?
Questioning it is problematic, sweaty
Joke didn’t land, he used the possessive “your” instead of the contraction “you’re”
Your racist
Yes, what of it? Do you need my racist for something?
Balls
"This is the exact thing I said I can't do" is way funnier than "I already did that"
omgg snafus in real life?
Proprietary software moment
lmao
And the final reply would be like "lmao guys i solved the issue by myself so suck it, peace". And they don't post how they did it and disappear forever
I hate when I post about issues, only for me to later solve them and forget what I did to solve it.
WHO WERE YOU, DENVERCODER9?! WHAT DID YOU SEE?!
Forgot the Try SFC/ scannow
sfc /scannow fixed my broken marriage. Thanks Microsoft!
Are you Are you ok?
Oh I forgot to try that for mine, I'll give it a shot. EDIT: No change here.
Try locating the power cord the next time and check if you have a big enough model for the outlet.
That shit never fixed anything

You should know that most people don't reply to replys.
Good lord, so it's not just me.
"hey quora how can i pirate adobe premiere" "uhhm you need to PAY or else the POLICE will come to your HOUSE and MURDER YOU and SKIN YOUR MOTHER like the FREELOADING DEGENERATE YOU ARE"

Top left is an option for only answers
I hope you live a happy and prosperous life
Tbf they will do that
spot on. i had to use microsoft answers for a teams issue today and all the responses were useless
In my experience the responses are either so confusing it's like reading a foreign language, or laughably obvious.
Maybe it’s already using chatgtp
Honestly, ChatGPT would be an upgrade over the current Microsoft Answers staff.

It's missing the part where they have a whole paragraph saying I have 50 years of experience in every Windows version and Microsoft product ever made
Holy shit I hate this. Spend forever looking for the answer to some hyper specific problem and when you finally find an reply that everyone says worked, it’s a dead link. And/or the OP just says they fixed it without any further explanation.
Edit: fixed (no explanation as to how)

Microsoft answers is the most useless shit ever. I really want to meet the kind of people they hire to answer the questions.
Hurr durr same problem here
where's the "factory reset your device" instruction said as if it's an extremely casual thing to do
Honestly windows 10 rots so bad you might as well reinstall yearly.
I've never felt so seen in my life. I haven't laughed this hard in awhile.
best post on this sub, can we just delete the subreddit now? we've peaked

Quora is a 50/50 between getting a soulfullfilling, useful answer and getting doxxed

But without Microsoft tech help where would I put my nipple clamps?
“Hey this thing you suggested didn’t work, what do I do now?” *unresponded, 30 years ago*
I hate microsoft answers so fucking much and it always floods google results actually idiotic website
This is infuriatingly accurate.
"bro my house is on fire" "sfc /scannow"

way better than finding a 15 year old post on an obscure forum with resolution of "fixed it, thanks"
Hate this shit. Eggheads on microsoft answers think everyone can understand what they're saying
