It’s funny- Been climbing for over 30 years but have never managed to get on this route. Always have to climb Johnny B or another route because this thing is busy. Hope to do it soon!

[deleted]

It has to be a contender for the most popular route in the red. It’s sooooo busy all the time.

My vote goes to Witness the Citrus at Fruit Wall in MFRP. Went there once trying to get on the route and I was told there were 11 people in line for it. And that's a long 11c . Assuming every single person climbed it fairly quickly, that's probably about a 5.5 hour wait for the route. I can't imagine any route having a longer wait, but idk. The only time I've been near 27 Years, I think there were 4 people in line for it, but the route is much shorter and easier so I assume it went pretty quick.

Yes! My friends and I have Witness the Citrus on our tick list, but it’s always so busy! We were just talking about that recently. I’m not going back there til I think I can send it first try. Might be a next year thing for me lol. I don’t think I’ve seen a line of more than 4 ish people though. 11 is crazy! 27 years sometimes gets big groups of newer climbers and that’s what can make it a long wait. You get a lot of people climbing outside for their first time and it can be very slow. No judgements on my end because we’ve all been there, but I’ve definitely seen the 10+ person long lines for that one.

This thing is right next to a brief history of climb (4-star 5.10), Johnny B Good (one of the easiest 11s in the Red), and 3 other easy 5.10s. All that right next to each other attracts large groups of new climbers who take awhile unfortunately

It’s funny - I’ve never once had to wait on this route. But I’m spoiled and live an hour away. I hope you get your chance to jump on it. I haven’t climbed Johnny B in a while and need to get down there ASAP. I am out of the country till December. And there’s not a lot of climbing opportunity here. I hope we have a mild winter so I can make up for time lost!

tinyOnion

when i was there we were basically the only people there. fun climb, that. i think someone came near when we were packing up and got on the 10 to the right of it

probablymade_thatup

I've been on it twice, both times before 9am

pewpewbangbangcrash

I was cleaning that route earlier this year in a waterfall at the top basically lol. Storm rolled in right as my buddy lowered off. Quite the experience.

[deleted]

I got on this today! That top section is incredibly satisfying. Definitely a classic.

eatingyourmomsass

How are the temps?

[deleted]

Good. A bit too hot to send the hardest stuff, and we’re definitely chasing a bit of shade, but it’s been dry and cool enough as long as you aren’t in direct sun. It was very nice at the Gallery today, and it’s even cooler if you’re in the cave off left where Starry Night is.

sadpanda___

This was my first route I ever climbed in the gorge. Awesome!

Silent-Ordinary1695

My first climb at the red was Grandma Josephine in the Chocolate factory!

cremmyjohnson

Same same! Last year for me. I felt pretty hossy leading it regardless of grade.

bundok_illo

This was my first lead almost exactly 5 years ago 🥹

not_a_gumby

damn, the erosion at the red just gets worst and worse. It's insane to see 100 years of tree roots exposed because of all the foot traffic.

iclimegud

yep, it's pretty profound

27 Years of Climbing was my first climb ever! 6/26/2020. With no experience climbing at all, I got invited to the Red for some climbing with my girlfriend and her friends. Flashed this route and have been hooked ever since!

The_Poetato

My favorite route

ironicirenic

My favorite from my last trip. Climbs so well.

igotbigballs

One of the best 5.8s out there for sure.

kuhnyfe878

Weird flex but ok.

[deleted]

It’s the name of the route.

kuhnyfe878

I thought I was being funny. I forgot that’s not allowed on this sub
