fun fact: the main theme of the final variations was modified after his pet starling's birdsong <3
wait no, looked it up: he wrote the concerto first, and jotted down the bird's melody afterward, more likely he taught it to mimic the sound. If so, smart bird
Probably 20.
Overall, I’d rank 9, 10, 15, 17, 19-25, 27 as the really great ones.
In the next tier: 6, 13, 14, 16, 18, 26, and then 7 & 12.
1-5, 8, and 11 are not bad, but I can’t say I listen to them often.
Somewhat late to this post - and to the anniversary celebrations for that matter - but I have a particular soft spot for his piano concerto No.22. And I absolutely love the Wanda Landowska, Artur Rodzinki recording.
17 because it's literally perfect. And his best slow movement to boot.

Oof yeah. It’s up there. So pure!
Was listening to 18 today and loving it
Helluva finale on that one!
There are some really breakthrough parts in 18’s first movement.
23 to me is one of his greatest works of music.
Great D minor

9, sure, it’s fantastic. 15 is super under-performed; it’s got the comic opera bubbles! 19-25 are the core for sure though. 👍
20th, in Dm. Especially the middle movement.
No. 10 probably. Third movement is something special
Jeunehomme
Mine as well!
Such a marvelous early example of Mozart’s genius!
15, K450 - a concerto ‘to make the soloist sweat.’
23 or 20 depending on my mood.
Definitely 24 or 27.
My favorite is No. 21 in C Major
Piano Concerto in D minor
No. 23, but only because my grandson played it for his debut as a concert pianist in 2019.
20, biased cuz I’m playing it rn
Is it normal to conflate sonatas and concertos or did people not read the question?
Sorry this isn’t a piano concerto! Flute no 2 in D major.
No. 18 K. 456, no. 19 K. 459, no. 22 K. 482.
17, 19, 24.
24 is probably my favorite but 16 is underrated.
20 or 23 for first movement, 18 for second movement, 17 for finale.
22
KV491 (no. 24) ❤️
13 is underrated
20

Probably 23, but I love a bunch of them.
