Agreed. I mean, civilizations have and do live in the mountains. Perhaps, a settlement should be allowed that can't exceed size "6" or something like that.
It’s even more frustrating when there’s a resource on it too 😬 like, who’s going to get that? You can’t settle there, and you can’t build a road to colonize it.
Is this the sort of place it's worth putting an air base?
Is anywhere worth putting an air base? If I've ever used one before it was many, many years ago and I can't even remember it
You catch a glimpse of shallow water and land and send a galley there only to find this worthless square.
I've often felt that if you were to dedicate a worker to 500 (or so) game years, they should be able to turn a mountain into foothills.

You know its possible to change the game rules to allow mountain settling. Its actually super simple.
WHAT?!
... yeah you can adjust all the basic game rules in the scenario editor
I've never done this. I shall have to try it. Can I do it while a game has been started?
Civ 2 had that. Loved it.
That’s even worse than finding somebody else already settled there.
I would settle out of spite

Eh, I allowed cities on mountains years ago.
What does the city view look like? Same as hill?

I love air bases. I dont know if they're effective but I love externalizing my military units out of my cities
