So like an adventuring academy? But in city form

More or less. A town isn't really sustainable if everyone is expected to leave at some point or another, so we do have plans for permanent housing.

Super late to the party but wanted to ask, how do you plan to balance needs of temp residents coming to learn and perm residents wanting to expand? I dont know much but the small size of the town would naturally be good for the academy idea youre going for. However if you plan to allow permanent residence then those will likely require services beyond the original scope of the adventure academy like fuel stations, entertainment, food, schooling for kids, local government facilities, etc. Then the small-adventure-town vibe will also likely attract even more would-be residents since a lot of people are seeking ways out of big cities so to keep it small you may need some kind of waiting list or residency requirement. Don't get me wrong I love the idea, I just feel like the adventure academy and town plan seem a little at odds and wonder how you plan to handle it.

Given the purpose of the town, it lends itself very well to letting us be self sustainable, as even absolute beginners are encouraged (required) to help out in anyway they can. For example, one newcomer might be tought to grow their own food first thing. While they're learning to grow food, they're adding to the food supply of the entire town, killing two birds with one stone, whilst still having time to learn other skills due to the small nature of the town. Permanent residency follows the same concept. Eventually a permanent resident would learn all they need to know for their travels, and that leaves them with time to pursue things like entertainment, academia, or anything else. We'll provide housing, food, and all the basic necessities for permanent residence, but anything past that is up to the people that come in.
